I happened to be looking around for the best priced oil changes as I needed one done, so I asked if he had availability today. He said yes and immediately got to work! He got done very quickly. I brought our family car here after the Acura dealer did a terrible job on it. I used to think that dealerships are a safe bet but that is not the case anymore. I would do the work myself but sometimes time is money. I decided to try Kona because their rates seemed reasonable and they were able to accommodate my schedule. When I got there I talked to the owner Mark about what happened to my car and what I needed. He was very empathetic and understanding. Kona Service really saved me a headache and a lot of time when Mark offered to drop by the morning after I was stranded overnight (Crockett) with the gear stuck in "park." When the AAA solution didn't seem practical and an attempt to work with a local tow company yielded 0 results the night before, I decided to spend the night in my camper van and ponder other options. I was so fortunate that searching "mobile mechanic" suggested Kona and Mark responded promptly that morning. He was able to quickly get the vehicle out of gear, saving me a tow ($$$) and I was able to drive to his shop without any glitches, where he thoughtfully suggested replacing the break switch on my 1999 VW camper van with an aftermarket part temporarily until the OEM part arrived the next day. OEM parts for my vehicle are often a pain to obtain so I was stoked that Mark took the initiative to snag one for me. I dropped in later when the part arrived and off I went. I am extremely grateful for Mark's skills and extreme conscientiousness with his work and planning; this really didn't feel like much of an inconvenience at all, especially after such a restless night. The clutch of my Acura TSX was on it's last legs, and after getting a few expensive quotes in the East Bay, I headed over to Walnut Creek to from Oakland to have Kona install a new clutch for me. Super friendly people, fast and good work, and better prices than I could find locally. This place is great. I found them online after taking my Acura RDX to the Acura Concord dealership 2 times in a week when I had a rattling noise. They had me change my transmission fluid and the issue continued. Took it here and Karam was able to take a video and show it was the torque converter. He then contacted multiple dealerships because it was under warranty and while he could fix it, advised it would not be right to charge me when it is covered. I took it back to Acura of Concord and they told me it was spark plugs and a new battery. After leaving, issue persisted. Karam suggested I go to Acura of Marin. I did, and sure enough it was the torque converter and covered under warranty. He contacted me throughout the whole process to make sure I was taken care of. He really cares about the customer and getting you safely on the road. read more
