Celebrated a birthday here and it couldn't have been better. The spread of ban chan was impressive, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. The meats were incredibly flavorful, and the portions of the cooked items were generous enough that our group ended up packing leftovers to take home. A fantastic spot for gatherings and great food.

Really great quality kbbq in Vancouver. Delicious and generous amount of banchan included with the meal. Got the set for 2 which comes with 4 types of varied meat, rice, and soup. While the meat portions are a bit smaller than what I've had at other bbq places, the quality definitely makes up for it. I'd definitely come back!

Kook Korean BBQ Restaurant, is a must try if you're ever over on this side of East Vancouver. Kook, guarantees that you'll leave here smelling the same way you came in, due to their high quality ventilation system. LOL. There was three of us who popped in, so we didn't order too much. But what we did order, was absolutely excellent. The meat was tasty along with the delicious seafood pancake - one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere inside is dark, cool & comfortable. I've been to a few Korean restaurants throughout Metro Vancouver & this one definitely ranks in the top five for sure. The servers were kind & very helpful in showing us how to bbq the meat on the tabletop grill & how to proceed with the sides. Plenty of parking available in this weird maze of a strip mall - it is an older mall.

We came here and got the -Combination A (For Two) which includes Yangnyeom Galbi, Pork Galbi, Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, House Salad ($86) It was quite good, but we felt like it wasn't enough meat for two people, so we ended up ordering an -Extra round of beef. I suppose the meat portions being on the smaller side could be the main negative of this place. The beef was tender, the marinades tasty, and the banchan / side dishes plentiful. Additionally, we did not reek of meat and smoke when we left, which was an added bonus. The service was excellent, with our waitress coming to cook our meat, throwing some back on the grill to warm it up if it had been sitting there, and checking in frequently. Definitely on the pricier side, but potentially understandable given the quality of the meat and freshness, variety and abundance of the sides. However, the smaller meat portions would make me hesitate between, say, coming back here, or going AYCE (such as to Gyubee). Would recommend coming here once for the experience though.

Absolutely recommend this place as your go to korean bbq. Almost don't want to tell you lol so you dont go and ruin it for others. Service was top notch and unlimited sides. Seating for only 1.5 hours. Imagine going to k bbq and coming out smelling like you didn't even have kbbq... well that's just pure bliss isn't it. Bookings in advance. Dont even try drop by without a reservation. It's a place you definitely want to be.

Friendly staff. Good quality meats. Nice little hidden gem away from downtown or very busy areas. Plenty of space. Family friendly.

The food here is fresh & good! I enjoyed the big variety of side dishes that they had. The wait for it wasn't too bad when we went on the weekend but do expect a wait if you go on the weekend. I came across it just by driving by, but this is definitely a spot I'd come back to. Even the tofu soup was so good & flavorful. Every time I got to a Korean bbq spot, the soups are never up to my standards. But I actually enjoyed theirs, I feel like because most places include it in the combos, they never care to perfect or give a decent recipe on the soups. But kook was great!!

Kook BBQ is the only place that I know of that features 15 side dishes and that alone definitely captures my interest, especially as someone who loves variety during a meal. I highly recommend making a reservation as this place can get very busy, leading to hours of waiting if no prior reservation is made. The menu is standard with various types of BBQ, soups, and staple Korean dishes. For groups, I recommend the combo as it comes with soup, japchae noodles, fried dumplings, and a variety of pork, beef, and chicken. Guests are also given lettuce, garlic/jalapenos and some dipping sauce for the meat. I find the meat itself well marinated and in good portions. For a group of 5, we ordered the combo for 4 and an additional cold noodle dish and ended up with some leftovers. The unlimited refill of side dishes paired great with the meal, and the seafood tofu soup was a flavourful highlight! We ordered mild, and it was perfect for my parents, who couldn't eat a lot of spice. My friend who lived in LA was also dining with us, and as someone who has had many authentic Korean BBQ experiences in K-town LA, he gave this place a good rating. Despite the busy atmosphere, service was prompt and attentive. Servers were great with refilling side dishes, answering questions, and checking in on us. At the end of dinner, you are also served some cold and refreshing cinnamon punch! I would recommend this place for those who love variety and the convenience of choosing combo menus. I will be back!

Kook Korean BBQ on 2800 East 1st Avenue We ordered Haemul Kimchi-Jeon, Haemul , (5/5) Dduk-Bokki, with rice cakes, (5/5) Thin marinated beef slices in sweet soy sauce g b a e g i Gamjatang 뚝 배 기 감 자 탕 (4/5) Soondubu Jjigae 순 두 부 찌 개 (4/5) Soft tofu soup.(Includes a bowl of rice) Food and services is good as expected They also play the Korean song over the speakers. One of the songs is "If Today Passes" is an emotional ballad song about whether we can be together after today. In particular, it contains the desire to get out of the difficult reality and be happy together.

Kook Korean had been always my wish list, however, the restaurant is always busy and never had a chance to try here. Now, Finally I had a chance to have a dinner here. We chose KOOK Combination which includes Yangneom Galbisal(marinated short rib)Saeng galbisal(non marinated boneless short rib) Joomcoluk(rib finger meat) Wooseol,(beef tongue)Chandol Baghi(sliced beef brisket) Pork Galbi, LA Galbi, Beef bulgogi, Chicken bulgogi, Rybeye , strip loin and 15 side dish, rice and soup(soondubu Jjigae). Marinated Short rib, rib finger meat, non marinated boneless short rib were outstanding. They were so tender, melting in my mouth, just excellent. Pork Galbi, LA Galbi,, Beef bulgogi, chicken , were also good, ribeye strip loin and beef tongue could be a bit better. 15 side dish were all tasty. Soup was also very good. I know why this restaurant is so popular. Overall, I am very satisfied with this restaurant's meal. Service was very good, friendly and served food very quick. I will be back to try other special menu.

Still one of the best Korean bbq spots in town! Amazing side dishes and group set meals. The meat was fresh and delicious on the grill. Seafood pancake was tasty.

I've heard about this place and finally got to try it. The ambiance is modern Korean style, a little club vibe at first with dark decor and k-pop music TV on the screen. We were not that hungry, so we passed on the BBQ set, instead we ordered SAENG GALBISAL the boneless short ribs and chicken, with some seafood pancake. The meat was really tender and fresh, and I was impressed by how many side dishes there were, all of them are delicious, some are on the spicy side, with tasty radish pickles. The server is friendly and professional. They gave some recommendations and also brought more side dishes when some were finished. The price point is a little high but given the quality of the meat and the amount of side dishes, it was well worth it. There is plenty of free parking space outside. If you haven't had a chance to try, it's highly recommended.

I initial saw a post by Ohpinyanated on tik tok recommending places around Vancouver with good eats and by chance he recommended this place that I realized was walking distance from where I live and I had to try it. Flavours, spices and colour 10 out of 10. But before I get to the food can I recommend my server Heyman (also on tik tok Heymanpov) immediately had a great attitude walking up the wait wasn't long and though he said 15 minutes I think the general vibe of the inside was so cheerful it didn't feel like a long wait. The music was jamming the tv was playing KPop in the back. A lunch spot or even a great date night or just having fun with friends. When I got my meal the delicious aroma immediately had me and Heyman was goated booking a brotha up appreciate you so much. I cradled that food like a baby walking back home and now I get to dig in and can I tell you this is out of this world!! Can't wait for my next visit to have my first Korean BBQ

I hadn't heard about Sooda until this August, when I stumbled upon an ad by a foodie influencer on…read moresocial media who tried the restaurant during their 10th anniversary sale. A lot of items were 30% off which is a pretty good discount considering a lot of their mains are $20-$50. Apparently Sooda is really hyped on google reviews and according to some people online, people line up out the door during the dinner rush. I came here on a friday afternoon near opening time at 12 for lunch with friends. There were only a couple tables occupied at the time. My friends ordered a bulgogi platter. According to the menu, it comes with beef marinated in bulgogi sauce served on a hot plate with cheese, green onions, house made egg-rolls, corn, and rice. It's usually a whopping $49 but with the special 30% anniversary discount it was only around $35 so it was definitely worth it. Our food came in a pretty good time in about 12-15 minutes. The melted cheese was SO GOOD. I love cheese but melted mozzarella is delicious. It's divine. The beef was tasty. I like the bulgogi sauce. It was meant to be mixed with the rice and egg rolls. If you just eat them separately, it's gonna be mid because they have little flavor on their own. I like that they included some small side dishes (banchan) to refresh your taste buds, such as kimchi and pickled radish. It was well needed for such a greasy and salty dish. I really like the vibe and the staff here. They had a couple k-pop music videos playing on the TV and k-pop and pop music playing in the background. The customers at the time seemed to have a good time here. They had some 10th birthday balloons and decorations all over the dining area too. The place is pretty dark with just enough lights and the walls are black which makes the vibe kind of cool. There are some interesting looking giant murals as well Our server was in a happy mood and all smiles. She liked to joke a lot with customers which was great to see. She was happy to answer any questions we had about the menu since it was our first time there. She was the only server at the time so she looked pretty busy. She refilled our waters and asked if everything was good so we felt taken care of. She said thank you, hi and goodbye to everyone in our group as well. Shout out to Seoyoung for being a great server! Washrooms are fine. As far as I know there's only 1 private men's washroom for the entire restaurant but it was pretty clean. A bit cluttered with cleaning supplies but it was clean and spacious. 5 out of 5 stars based on this visit. The 30% off 10th anniversary discount made it really worth coming for the price I paid. I hope they have similar promotions like that in the future. More importantly, the food and staff are great so it's worth checking out.

So they went ahead and pre-melted the cheese with the chicken before bringing it to the table. Not only was this mix tasty, it was fun scoop it across for our dish. I order a japchae to go, which was also delicious! Korean guy at the front waves at us, asks how many people, and directs us to a seat. Then another Korean guy comes over and scolds us, telling us to next time please wait at the front until being seated. Clearly they have some organizational issues here and not a great start to this visit. We place our order. Food for 2 of our 4 arrive about 10 mins later. The food for the other 2 people arrive another 20 mins later. Meanwhile the food for the first 2 ppl just sit there. Thankfully they were in clay pots so it was still warm at least, but this is ridiculous. There is no reason for this. If you're slow to get food out, fine, but bring it all out at once. The restaurant itself is huge, looks like a lounge and bar but mostly empty. The staff are all dressed differently too in street clothes so its hard to tell who works there. They are clearly struggling with understaffing. We had a caucasian waitress who came by to deliver food. She was very nice and friendly. About the food. We ordered: kimchi soondubu - asked for extra spicy, it was barely spicy. beef/seafood mixed soondubu - asked for spicy, it was straight up not spicy. The broth base was the same for each, and lacked depth of flavour. The tofu itself was pretty good, silky smooth, but tofu takes on the flavours of whatever it's cooked with and in this case, not much... The beef in these was just ok and there wasnt much of it. The seafood in the mixed one amounted to 1 clam and 1 shrimp shell-on. There was nothing else in it. 2/5 for both of these. Gamjatang - medium sized portion, good for 2, maybe 3 people. Meat was ok, broth was not bad. Solid average. 3/5. banchan served with the meals were the biggest disappointment. 2/5. This might be the most disappointing banchan ive had in a Korean restaurant in a long time. They served regular cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and bean sprouts. thats it. None of them were particularly good (not bad, just nothing great). And for a party of 4, they served a single portion of each banchan for the whole table. We had to ask for refills 3 more times. You have 4 diners, all with food that comes with Banchan normally. Wouldnt it be reasonable to bring out 4 portions of banchan right off the bat? Especially when you're understaffed? Overall: Main dishes 2.5/5. Banchan 2/5 for overall selection and quality. Service 2/5 - really comes down to severe understaffing and really poor management of how the kitchen is run. The staff there do their best but they need help. Venue 3/5. Overall, 2 to 2.5/5. This place might be the worst Korean place on the Robson strip of all the ones Ive been to. That's saying a lot, since Vancouver doesnt have amazing Korean food to begin with, and this is one of the worst of the bunch.
