We gave Hudson Appliance the dimensions of the refrigerator that we needed to replace and accepted their recommendation. The item they delivered, however, was too deep and did not fit the space, actually blocking one of the entrances to our unit. We also had told them that the doors had to be reversed to open on the right, but that was not how it was delivered. When advising them of the problems, Hudson asked if we had checked the dimensions of the unit they recommended; to which I replied, "Did you check the dimensions we gave YOU?" No reply. When I asked why the installers didn't call Hudson to alert them that the refrigerator was blocking the door, I was told that they "just deliver and set up." When we told them that the doors were not reversed as we had asked, they told us that they could not be reversed; despite their telling us originally that they could. Despite this being clearly their fault, when we asked them to take it back, Hudson said that we would be responsible for a 30% restocking fee. We had considered going to Small Claims Court to resolve this, and we are confident that we would have won; however, we decided that it was not worth our time to save $250. They eventually took back the refrigerator and charged the 30% restocking fee. Having spent 30 years in senior management for large and small retail companies, I can say with conviction that this was extremely poor customer service and one of the worst experiences I have ever had as a consumer. I do not like leaving negative reviews, particularly for small box stores, but given their indifference to us, I feel compelled to call out Hudson Appliance for this terrible experience. read more

If you are looking for new appliances, I don't recommend going to Hudson Appliance. Let me explain why. We enjoy giving our money to local businesses rather than large corporations but in return, you expect to get treated as valued customers rather than just a number in a computer. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars on new appliances there (washer and dryer, stove, dishwasher, etc) so I expected much better treatment than we got today. Our dryer started having problems where it was getting noisy and we were afraid it would fail at an inopportune time. When we called Hudson Appliance (we bought it from them in 2015) to have them send out someone to look at it, they told us there would be a $180 fee to send out the repair person, plus any necessary parts. When the repair person came out the first time, he replaced one of the parts which was about $35. Shortly after he left, it was still making the same noise. I called them back and they sent out the repair guy a second time. This time, he said it was a different part which had to be ordered and was going to be $250. At this point, I was reluctant to move forward but it was still going to be half the price of a new dryer so I told them to go ahead. But after he put it in (third trip to our house), he realized that did not fix it either so he removed it. After failing to fix the problem by replacing two other parts, the next thing he was going to do was replace the motor which was going to be $450 (on top of the $215 we had already spent) at which point I said, we're done with repairing this - let's just replace it. So today, we went to their place on Main Street in Hudson to purchase a new dryer. We knew exactly what we wanted (an LGE DLE3400W, Consumer Reports top rated dryer) so we told the sales person what we wanted and explained what happened with the current dryer and we asked them how much they were willing to take off the price of the dryer to help compensate us for $215 we had spent on futile attempts to repair it. They were unwilling to take any money off the price of the dryer. The price we were given was the price anyone who walked in off the street would get. After trying to negotiate, it became clear that there was no use - they were not going to negotiate on the price after charging us $215 for ineffective repairs. If they had been willing to give us something off the price of the dryer to help compensate us for the frustration of being out $215 and still having a broken dryer, they would have gotten the sale and saved the relationship. But apparently getting full price for the dryer was more important to them than maintaining a 20+ year long customer relationship. So, we promptly drove to Percy's TV & Appliance in Worcester and gave them our business instead. Moral of the story - some places would rather make a buck in the short term than take a hit to their margin in order to maintain a long term customer relationship. I had a service call on a clothes washer which I had purchased from them ~13 years ago. The service man did not have the part so he had to order one. I was later texted a part number and told that it was no longer manufactured and if I could find it on ebay or Amazon they would install it. So I order the part on Amazon, installed it myself and then realized that I needed another part. Both parts would cost me ~$35. Meanwhile another different tech texts me that they found the part at another distributor. So I have them install the parts. By mid morning I talked with Bill from Hudson Appliance Sales and explained my situation. I needed a new fridge ASAP. He reviewed what he had on site and was able to suggest a size we needed over 28 Cu ft. Sent me pics and specs to review before making the decision. Long story short, by mid afternoon I had anew fridge delivered and because it had been on display at the store he knocked $1,000 off the price. I bought a new Maytag fridge from HA. There was a problem with the shelf holding the deli meats. Cameron came out on time, called before coming to our home. There was a problem w/ the shelf clips that were bent. He ordered the parts and fixed the issue. Cameron is personable, friendly, cleaned up the mess and took the trash w/ him. He was done quickly and explained how the pieces got bent. I have shopped at Hudson Appliance for majority of my appliance needs. I have been very happy w/ all the people at HA- from the person who picked up my call to Cameron who fixed the issue. Prices are fair and there is a good selection. I had to call for my Electrolux Gas Dryer issue with humming noise just over a year old. Home repair technician service charge was $170 not including parts. Had to wait a few days since their technicians were all booked. I did not get the additional warranty since it has a 3 yr warranty on parts but labor not included. Cameron was the technician and he was great at finding where the issue was and within 5-10 minutes he had found the problem. They showed us types of washers we weren't even considering, and we ended up with an awesome Bosch unit. 6 months later, I accidentally screwed something up on it, and Hudson Appliance was out within a week to fix it, for free. Recently went back to get a new refrigerator as ours was going. They have reworked their salesfloor and practices to be COVID safe, and take it very seriously. It is very much appreciated. And while fridges were extremely back ordered due to the pandemic, Hudson Appliance was really communicative about what was going on, how long we would probably have to wait, and gave us the option to get a refund at any point. Overall, I'm the kind of person who goes out of his way to say "thank you" and "please" to service professionals. I tip overly big, not because I have a ton of money, but because I know service pros often deal with assholes. That's where I'm coming from. Now, the review. The front end of the sale was great. On day of delivery I received a call 10 min out for a four hour window, good so far. I told the driver that my driveway has a 20 degree decline from the road to our garage, meaning its easy to come down, more difficult to get up, not something I'd go down if I were him. He tells me "thanks for the heads up". Additionally, to make matters worse, it had snowed a day or two before and there was still a crust of snow and ice on the driveway. I received a bang on my front door when they arrived to find out they already backed down the driveway but needed me to move my car into the garage in order to avoid their box truck slamming into my car. The delivery guy was tense and not terribly pleasant, but no problem, I hopped to it. Move car into garage, go back inside. Wait 10 minutes. Another bang on my front door (there is a doorbell and who bangs on a storm glass door?). Guy asks me to come outside (I'm in shorts and t-shirt), so I come out. As soon as we get to the driveway the first words out of his mouth are, "I don't know if anyone told you, but we ask all customers to clear their driveways before delivery. Can you give us any salt or sand to get back up? I don't think we can make the delivery today." I'm utterly dumbfounded. I believe I said, "Are you kidding me? First of all, I warned you to not back down a driveway, to park at the top and bring the fridge down manually. Also, you're unable to take the refrigerator off of your truck now that you are here and bring it inside?" He then responds "Bro, chill out" in this tone that carried zero respect and more than a drop of disdain. Why would you ever talk that way to someone? You screwed up, you're stuck, and you're making excuses to not deliver a fridge when you're already in my driveway? And then you tell me to "Bro, chill out"? Yeah, I exploded. The driver then gets out of the truck and tells me, "Why you cussin' at us, chill the fuck out bro". I never should've lost my cool, regardless of their treatment of me. I turned around and went back inside. Get a call moments later from their delivery manager who asks me if I was swearing at his delivery men (given what just happened, that was rich). I explain the situation and ask if I could please have my fridge brought inside, that I told the driver to not back down the driveway. Man ignores my request and asks me if I have salt and/or sand to help his truck get up the driveway... if I had some, I'd give it to ya but I don't. He gets off the phone by saying he has to talk to his guys. Calls me back, tells me they can't deliver the fridge today as he's worried his men will injure themselves on the half inch of dust on my driveway (not an exaggeration). Come on buddy, this is New England in the winter. You have no business delivering at all if you can't figure this out. He asks me if I'd like a refund or if I they can come back in a couple days after I've cleared my driveway. But... they're in my driveway right now... ? What the hell have things come to when delivery people require you to supply their common sense, you to accommodate their attitude and condescension, and you to apologize when they make a mistake? read more

Although our "big box" wall oven wasn't old, it was having major problems and because our experience with the big box store had been terrible we went to Hudson Appliance even though we thought we'd probably pay more. Derek, our saleperson was great and didn't just try to sell us the most expensive ones. We actually ended up replacing our 25 year old(!) cooktop at the same time because they were having holiday sales and the prices were pretty competitive. (Both are GE Profile and we love them). We have a stove and a dishwasher that we purchased from Hudson Appliance several years ago. We called them because the oven was not calibrated properly and kept telling us the wrong temperature. Our dishwasher also was not draining properly. Worried because it was a few days before Thanksgiving, we called them and they said that they would send one of their guys out to the house. The guy went down to the basement, tripped the fuse box, and then told us that our oven was re-calibrated. He then checked the dishwasher. He told us a tube was out of place and that we just had to push it back in. He was here for about 15 minutes and charged us $225. We were furious! It would have been nice if they had made these suggestions to us over the phone! There was no need for them to come out to the house at all. I really felt gouged. Called on Monday & they were able to accommodate a 3-5pm appt same day (yay) Steve quickly assessed relay switch to be issue. He swapped it out & we were back in business. He was professional, personable & knowledgeable. I was pleased with the service provided. My only mistake; I didn't ask what the fee was to come out. It was $149.95 for the service call which included labor for small repair. I didn't shop around, but was expecting closer to $80. This is perhaps a very overdue review in a lot of ways, but I was just reading some of the horrible reviews on this place and am utterly baffled that we all dealt with the same store. Last year, we purchased two properties that were full renos and required almost all new appliances. Our purchase included a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, range from the now-discontinued GE Artistry Range series along with a two washers, and two dryers. I found the prices to be the best around. We had everything delivered, which went smoothly, and we kept all packaging on until we were further along in the reno. To my horror, when we took the refrigerator out of its brand new packaging, the top was smashed in as though something had fallen on it back when it was in the warehouse (it had been safe in a climate-controlled garage space since). I was panicked, as it had now been weeks since the delivery and the GE Artistry series was discontinued right as we purchased the last of the items. I contacted Hudson Appliance to see if anything could be done. While it took a while (our sales rep was initially rude when I sent pics of the damage and left the company in the meantime), I eventually received a call from the owner who, upon searching and finding no other fridges in the entire country, came up with a creative solution to fix our refrigerator. After a couple of trips from technicians (inconvenient, but I was willing to bear with whatever it took), we had a new box and replacement Artistry doors to have a makeshift, but also brand new and matching fridge that was perfect. It's surprising to hear that so many other customers had such trouble. While it took some pressing, I was pleased with the ultimate result. I would definitely buy from them again. Some of my relatives also own property in the area and go exclusively through Hudson Appliance to replace items in their rentals -- I was recommended to go here and ultimately am a happy customer. read more

I purchased my refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, and microwave from Hudson appliance. First, I checked out the box stores, and i found that NONE of them have service capabilities. I also found their sales people not terribly knowledgeable about their products specs, warranties, or manufacturer's special promotions. Their prices were all competitive. Living in Hudson, I then went to Hudson Appliance. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I met D.J. and Arthur, and a couple of other salespeople. They totally knew their inventory ( apparently they participate with a large group of appliance stores throughout New England, have HUGE inventories in Franklin, Ma., and are able to purchase products completely competitive with the box stores). Their prices were the same, or lower, than the box stores. But I found the services that they offered incomparable. They actually service their products with their own fleet of repairman. They offered package deals ( I chose Bosch) and instantly provided me with a package deal that resulted in considerable savings to me. They were both helpful and courteous, delivered when they said they would, installed my items, and came promptly to my house when I had one minor manufacturer's defect to repair. I thoroughly recommend using Hudson Appliance, and will continue to purchase all my family's appliances there. read more

My range malfunctioned a few months ago and I called Hudson Appliance for service (they are the store it came from in the first place). The technician decided the control board was broken and replaced it. Total cost about $350 for service and parts. A little while later, the range malfunctions again and the error code indicates a broken control board so I call Hudson Appliance again, trying to claim warranty on the bad control board they installed last time. The lady on the phone tells me that "because it's a different error code, this is a new issue" and they will have to charge me $139 before a technician will come to check out the problem. Charging more money than the component cost just to come and see if the component you installed last time is broken is ridiculous! It costs me less to just buy a replacement on eBay and install it myself. Warranty is absolutely useless if you have to pay more to claim the warranty than it would cost to just replace the faulty component they sold me. read more

I've been buying from these guys for over a long time, but I still shop the big-box stores every now and then. Based on my experience, there's no comparison, Hudson Appliance is the better place to buy appliances. First, the sales team is really good. They know their products and warranty's and they are informative rather than pushy. They make good recommendations based on my needs, which isn't always the most expensive product. I find their prices to be very good. Can I save $10 at a big-box place, sure. But the big box places don't offer the service that a local business like Hudson Appliance does. Their installation service is good. I know must of us would like down to the minute scheduling, but that's impossible in the real world of traffic jams and unknown installation difficulty. They've always done a good job accommodating my schedule, and I've never had them miss an appointment, and the work has always been done very well. The owner and his customer-service orientation is outstanding. I had a problem with an expensive new dryer, and he did everything you could wish for in helping me get the problems resolved quickly/efficiently. Hudson Appliance has earned their good reputation and my loyalty by being value conscious, providing excellent service, and showing me they actually do care about their customers. read more

Stay away! I was looking for a rangetop and had two top contenders price-wise for my purchase. Hudson Appliance and another online retailer. Hudson had the better price, so I went with them. This company sold me the rangetop online (took my credit card information and sent me a confirmation email). I called the next day to find out about shipping details only to find out that they refuse to ship the product to me. (their excuse--I'm out of state--as if mail doesn't go out of state??). Now they have my credit card information and personal information. When I told the manager about this, he was quite belligerent about it, saying "That's just the way it is" and saying "sorry" with that "What are you going to do about it" tone. Because of them, my credit security is at risk and I am losing money, as I had two different stores I was comparing and the other was a few hundred bucks more...I chose this one for the price but now the other is out of stock. Now I must pay EVEN more to get it. I'm very unhappy! I suppose if you can go in and make your purchase, you might be okay--but God forbid you have a problem and have to deal with that attitude. I thought it would be great to buy local and support a family business, but I sincerely regret giving them any money at all. First of all, their prices are really not competitive. Secondly, they don't stand behind any of the products they sell. After being told that the washer and dryer was a great product "that they would buy themselves", I was later told after the purchase that they were "junk" but had great sales incentives for the sales person / Hudson Appliance. This store merits a full story, because its interesting, and maybe explains my perception... 1. When you come in the back MAIN door, service center is on your left. We have had to have our HORRIBLE jenn-air stove serviced, and the service Department staff is OUTSTANDING. They do what they say, when they say it and for what they say they will do it. Super pleasant. We get Bob AWESOME! 2. Then you walk to your right into the gorgeous "floor" - the place is beautiful and has EVERYTHING kitchen, laundry, vacs, appliance - mid to high end, and prices are competitive. 3. Sitting at desk to your left on the first foyer is who I believe is GM or owner? (Im sorry, this individual,is intimidating in both demeanor and approach you actually feel scared to ask! and Im not meek! Why I didn't drive to Worcester to Percys... 4. Week-day around 1245 - calls Rocco. (PS I'm a Senior and Zumba Gold instructor, LOVE working with Seniors). Rocco, was busy and it was CLEAR he had neither patience nor wanted to be bothered. I told him the previous owner had this kitchen done with them. Didnt look it up. I didn't have the measurements for the stove, but it had been serviced that morning, I text hub but He wasn't listening. did I say he seemed busy with other things? Ghost town. Was he interested in hearing my story? Nope. He mumbles through stoves, and said he would look up my kitchen in the service department and EMAIL me the info. I asked him if he could send me comps, he said, sure, and walked away. 5. I meander the store by my lonesome and I see range hoods! YAY!!! I turn to the happy host (?) and ask for the price on a zephyr. He calls for - ROCCO - who thought I had left and is grumpy because now I want to look at hoods (im feeling guilty, maybe I should leave) He condescend, blows me off, disappears. He said I'd get the email that afternoon. Next day email - No range hood and only one stove. 6. I tell hub, "Rocco Im sure is a nice guy, but he blew me off - he may be old school, so you better come with me..." Hubby: "LETS GO TO PERCYS". I really wanted to give the folks who did the original kitchen a shot and keep it local. "Keep an open mind", maybe Rocco will be more willing to work with us if YOU are there. 7. Saturday. Mr. Happy Host: "Can I help you". I reply, "I got a quote from Rocco..." (as 3 sales rep scurried into the back room like Im radioactive). Rocco was with A CUSTOMER - YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR ROCCO. We wait... And WAIT... AND WAIT... Other sales people helpless they know if I repeat visit I need something badly. Hubby: THIS IS STUPID, LETS GO TO PERCYS. THEY DONT WANT OUR BUSINESS... He is lovely, great guy, knows his stuff, and loves the store. He made excuses for dear Rocco. PS. halfway through ROCCO storms in and says IM READY BUT YOU COULDNT WAIT? and shoots Jeff the look from hell (I sure hope Jeff didn't get fired! We'll go to PERCYS for sure - did I say WE don't think the store would care?). As we were walking out Joe turns around and asks Jeff about the Tankless water heaters. WANT ONE! 8. We have decided what I want and why I want it. We have prioritized our purchases. I'll have a new stove and hood by Thanksgiving (YES!). I'll get a new fridge after I sell our side by side. I will have the Miele by valentines. We'll get the tankless water heater before the end of the year. And I now LOVE this local business and have decided its worth ignoring Mr. Scary and just not talking much with Rocco, just smile and say hi. He's funny - we had a chance to watch him with others. The people I dealt with were fine. My new refrigerator was in stock and delivered in a timely fashion. I'm pleased with the appliance. However, the company policy of not allowing delivery people to touch the water line (or do any actual installation) is insane. I felt like I was doing the right thing, going with the local company vs. the big box store. Yes, the item was in stock, vs. 3 weeks out at the box store. However, I will end up spending at least $250 more for this appliance due to the fact that they charge more ($95 delivery and haul away vs. free delivery and $40 haul away), and I now have to wait for a plumber (guessing minimum $200) to come and attach my water line so that I can utilize the ice and water features on my appliance which was delivered 2 days ago. It's now a long weekend, and I certainly won't have ice/water until Tuesday at the earliest. I was told by the sales person that 95% of the people can do this "installation" themselves, but I didn't even have the right tools. However, now that I have the receipt in my hand it says, in bold print, that "All refrigerators with water/icemaker will need installer or plumber." Had I known a plumber would be needed, I would have never made the purchase here. Browse here but do not buy here. Went to Hudson to purchase a panel-ready dishwasher. I had done my research, was pretty set on Miele but not sure which model so went to Hudson to check them out. I was greeted by salesman Jeff and he was friendly enough. I asked to see several Miele models and explained to him that I was replacing a panel-ready Bosch and that my experiences with Bosch have been very poor. I was adamant: I hate Bosch, they break down, have poorly-designed racks, and don't dry properly. Under no circumstances do I want another one. Jeff then went on to explain to me that because I was replacing a Bosch, I had to stick with Bosch because my custom panel would not fit any other brand of dishwasher and even within Bosch, I'd have to get a higher end model. This didn't make sense to me. He printed out the manual for the Bosch he felt would work for me, which showed the specifications for the panel. I asked for a similar print out for the Miele and he said I shouldn't bother because there is no way it would fit. He refused to print it for me. He also insisted that I would have to hire his service guy to measure the space because there is no way I could do it correctly myself. And if I got the measurements wrong and purchased from them, I would not be able to return it. Needless to say, everything Jeff told me was untrue. Either he didn't know, in which case he should have consulted with the Miele manual, or (more likely) he lied to me. I later learned that Bosch is very aggressive and really rewards dealers for pushing their products. So it's more worthwhile to a dealer to sell me a Bosch than a Miele. I respect that a salesman would be motivated to show/sell me a Bosch, but when I insist that I do not want one, and he lies to try to con me into buying one, well, that is another story. Did he think I was so stupid? Next stop was RiverBend & Company in Westford (they are FABULOUS!) where I purchased my Miele. 2 days later, they came and installed it. Perfect fit. Never ever going back to Hudson Appliance. Well, maybe I would pop in there just to look at an appliance because their selection is good and it's convenient for me. But I would never buy from them. read more

First time purchasing with them and couldn't be happier. Went to all the 'big name' stores first but ended up finding the better deal, friendlier and more knowledgeable staff and with an amazing experience. Went in to buy a new Fridge, and ended up buying a new dishwasher as well. Will be going back to buy a new double oven in due time thats for sure. Delivery of the fridge was today and the delivery guys couldn't have been more considerate and friendly and helping. Glad we found a nice local company that does business right! Great job!! A+ for the sales experience, F for everything else. I bought a higher end range and have had some problems with the burners. I've sent them a couple emails (our primary form of communication pre-sale) and have not had a single reply. Our sales rep was amazing until we needed post-sale help. UPDATE: +2 stars for their follow up, below (I removed brand names); "I recently saw your review on Yelp and wanted to follow up with you. If you have been trying to contact Roger, who was your salesman, he has retired as of September of 2014. I see that you purchased a xxxxx range and would like to assist you in getting a technician to help you. To get warranty service on your xxxxx range, you have to call xxxxx to get a factory authorized technician. Please email or call me if you have any future problems or need assistance with appliance selection. I thank you for shopping local and sincerely apologize if we have inconvenienced you. " I replied thanking them and received the following (just being 100% transparent on why I updated my review) "I am glad that you were able to get the xxxxx range fixed and I am terribly sorry you had this type of experience at Hudson Appliance. We would appreciate it if we had another opportunity to assist you. I can promise that this won't happen again. Would you mind putting an addendum on the Yelp review that I got in touch with you? Just bought a dryer, dishwasher and gas range at Hudson Appliance. Best showroom in the area, lots of stock to examine, high end to budget. Website has even larger selection. Great selection of range hoods, smaller selection of sinks and sink hardware. We worked with Derek - he was great! No pressure, very helpful, patient and happy to price match local competition. Roger was also very helpful. Reasonable delivery time, nice delivery people. We got a better deal here than at big box stores - there was only one item we were interested in that Hudson Appliance couldn't price match, a Whirlpool dryer, probably because Home Depot got a special deal from manufacturer. We ended up getting a better model instead, for $100 less than Home Depot was selling it for. They have a small scratch n dent section too for the deep discount hunters. This is definitely the place to go for appliances - shop local and support small town downtowns! read more

Dear Sir, thank you for your response, however, allow me to respond point by point. MY RESPONSE: 1. No one (repeat no one) in your store at any time while my wife an I stood in your lobby made any effort to extend an apology or a polite explanation. My wife commented at your approach and demeanor and as a store mgr. surprising uncalled for. I do understand trying to protect an employee but at who's expense. 2. I was in no way rude but was direct in my questioning as to why we weren't provided with a quote. If someone views my directness and honesty as rude that's unfortunate. Your salesman was out of line. 3 When I approached your salesman he was key stroking at his computer. He wasn't on the phone or at that very moment speaking to another customer as you allude to, therefore, there was no interference on my part. You're getting a slanted view of what actually took place. In closing a simple 2 minute phone call or a few key strokes (an email) saying he was busy would have been the appropriate thing to do. Avoidance never works. As a owner of a small business for years myself your actions were surprising. I suggest some good reading for you and your salesman - "Paul Brown's Book - Customer's for Life". I first visited this appliance store on August 30th looking for a price quote on a washer and dryer.  I received my written price quote from a salesman by the name of Jeff within 5 minutes of me asking.  When my wife and I arrived home a few short blocks from this store we decided we didn't want the make and model on the quote but we decided to go with a GE product instead so we attempted to reach out by phone later that day to Jeff asking for a quote on the GE washer and dryer.  We were told he was busy with a customer so I left a detailed message and followed up with a confirming email to him as well which is something I'm accustomed to doing. Having not heard back from the salesman, I left another phone message on the following Monday (August 3) only to be told again he was with a customer...  I waited for his return call which never came so I drove to the store with my wife and saw Jeff (the salesman) at his desk when I approached him asking if he remembered me and I asked why he didn't get back to me. The indignant look and demeanor was matched by his response which went something like this.  "Do you have any idea how busy I am", pointing to his phone.  Frankly, as a customer who was about to spend in the area of $2,300.00, I told him that was of no concern to me and all I wanted was a simple price quote which he wasn't willing to provide.  He got up from his desk abruptly saying "I don't have to listen to this" as he walked off looking for the manager.  I said the quote you handed me last week took you less than 5 minutes but he had no time for me this day.  A few minutes later his boss (no name) approached me saying can I help you.  His demeanor was similar to the salesman with an indignant tone saying you have no idea how busy we are and we are short handed I believe he said.   What was equally annoying he stood within two feet of me in a confrontational manner (knowingly or otherwise) and I asked him to step back the customary 6 feet which he did comply as he continued his rant - seriously - about how busy they are.  I waved him off and walked out saying you just lost a customer. My wife and I within an hour of this incident were treated quite differently at another retail venue with successfully completing the sales transaction we originally set out to do. I realize how the Covid virus scare is on everyone's mind but to be treated in this manner is remarkable. A simple politely stated I am sorry or please excuse me I didn't get back to you sooner but I have been tied up would have sufficed and potentially saved a customer and a $2,300.00 sale or perhaps a one sentence email response saying I'll get back to you asap.  The time it took for these two individuals to respond the way they did could have been better spent with a more appropriate response.  I thought others would want to know especially some of my senior friends. read more

This may be one of the 'oldest' reviews on Yelp, because it happened16 years ago. How do I know? My wife was super pregnant with my son, who is now 15. I was not killing it financially at the time, and we bought a window air conditioner for our first house. The Hudson Appliance owner would not take it back because the package had been opened - and just pointed to a sign like a child. This was before the days of Yelp, and my only way to convey how badly I was getting screwed - the only way to have any justice at all, was to tell other customers about my experience - in person. This made the owner mad, to no end - and he threatened to call the police - probably his brother in law or whatever. My wife didn't want any more trouble, and was already a little uncomfortable by how vocal I was being. I was telling my son this story as we were driving last week, and I said to myself - IT'S NOT TOO LATE to tell the world not to buy there. So here it is. My husband and I searched and searched for a specific model fridgerator that has been discontinued recently, but my husband found it at Hudson appliances. He spoke will Bill, one of the salesman, for a good 45 minutes and Bill told us that this particular fridgerator had been sitting on his store floor for the past three years and although he couldn't ship it to us if we found a freight company that would do the shipping he would be happy to sell it to us. An hour later I received a very NASTY text, from a woman named DJ/owner of the store, that said she refused to sell us the refrigerator because we were from out of town and she thought that we were going to scam her. My husband called and spoke with DJ and offered to send in a certified check that could be cashed prior to the merchandise even leaving the store despite my husbands attempt in convincing her we were not scammers she was just as rude, short and aggressive on the phone as she was in the text. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXTREME LACK OF COMPASSION OR EMPATHY. I would NEVER try and shop at a husdon store again. read more

I recently visited Hudson Appliance in search of a new refrigerator. I completely forgot to call ahead during these COVID times but they were kind enough to fit me in when I called from outside the store. Bill was very informative, friendly and expeditious. Our entire experience took maybe an hour and we left with a brand new fridge to be delivered the next week. The delivery went smoothly as well. I even had a question about something and called Bill the following week - he had an answer to my question and called back within 10 minutes. Super helpful. Glad we shopped local! read more

I had a very mundane purchase of an oven. However, my consumer experience turned into out of the ordinary when I called the shop to verify delivery time. The delivery time I was given was when they actually left the shop. A very impolite and hostile woman named DJ talked over me and was insulting to say the least. She canceled my order without informing me. My plumber and I were inconvenienced but I'm glad this occurred because I found the same item much less expensive and delivered on time in a professional manner by another shop. read more
