Was bringing my dog to the vet next door (http://www.yelp.com/biz/veterinary-medical-specialists-concord) so thought I'd grab some lunch while tests were being run. Got the combination Galbi & Dwen Jang Chi Gae (soy bean paste stew) lunch. A small plate of jap chae came out ahead of the 11 banchan plates. All of it was good except for this one sweet, creamy, fruity thing. I'm still not sure what it was, but 2 nibbles was enough for me to avoid it the rest of the meal. The chi gae was reasonably tasty, but a little watery. I thought it needed some more "stuff" like tofu, zuchini, meat (Something to "chunkify" it a bit) as well as more dwen jang to kick up the broth. The galbi meat was a little tough as well. I prefer when the ribs are butterfly cut (parallel to the bone) and the meat cut from the bones before being served. This was flanken or LA Cut (think Hawaiian BBQ short ribs) in the perpendicular to the bone so thin rib pieces and each piece of meat attached to a small piece of bone. Makes it harder to eat, imo, since you have to get that bone off each bite. Anyway, food was decent and the service was attentive. Somewhere between 3 and 3.5 stars. The health department inspector was there at the same time and I saw them move their rice cooker from a table outside the kitchen (with easy access for the servers) back into the kitchen. I am a snob when it comes to Korean BBQ. While living in UCSB area, I would go down to LA every other weekend to club with my friends. Actually, the real reason is that we would meet with each other and dine at some AYCE Korean BBQ places. Although the quality of the meat at these AYCE places greatly paled in comparison to the ones, next door, where you ordered by the plate, there is a standard to how BBQ styled meat should be like. With that being said: The quality of their food, during dinner, is sub-par compared to a few Korean places in Pleasant Hill/Concord area. Not only is the meat more chewier, there is less of it for a more expensive price. The only thing that I enjoyed here was the Dol Sot Bibimbap... though it's hard to mess up on something so simple since the hot stone and the korean sauce usually determines how good it is. Their side dishes are ok. Unless you're a frequent customer or can speak to them in Korean, they usually don't fill it up unless you ask. Don't get me wrong, this place has friendly customer service, but no ask, no refill. So overall, I would give this place a 2 Star review. However, what knocks it up/why I come here anymore, is because they often times have 2 rolls of Kimbap for 5 dollars. Although it's always hit or miss (since they never tell you when it's made), these are amazing when they're fresh - especially for $5. read more

Discovered this place while driving and this is the best Korean restaurant in the area. It's a little hole in the wall and is great for big groups of people as well. My family and I always eat here for our Korean fix. The portions are perfect and affordable. The servers are nice and do pretty well for them only having 2 servers to tend to the whole restaurant. read more

We came in for lunch on a Friday and it was pretty empty inside but we decided to take a chance anyways. The lunch menu is just a smaller version of the dinner menu with no price/portion changes so it looks a bit deceiving. The food itself was pretty good. I got the bib bim bap and my boyfriend got that bul gol gi. The meat itself was tender and well seasoned for both. However the bib bim bap had very little meat actually in it and I had to steal some from the bf. There was a large selection of ban chan provided for the table as well and the service was good. Loved this place. Came here with my Dad after realizing our favorite Korean food spots were closed from 3-5. This place is open all throughout the day AND had great reviews so we thought we'd give it a shot. Turned out so much better than we expected. Friendly, attentive staff. Great banchan variety. Great food. They even had the 49ers game playing on both of their TVs. Soo happy to find this place! It's gonna become our new spot for Korean food. This place was just alright. Really small place, which didn't turn me off. But it would be really hard to find if you didn't know what you were looking for. It's kind of hidden. Sure they had a large selection of condiments, but they weren't very flavorful. We actually had to ask for the seaweed which came late during the meal. I got the spicy pork which was quite good. I also think the price was too high for what you got. I think I'll stick with Korea House. You may not get as many condiments, but they'll keep it coming and they're more flavorful. Came here with my wife for lunch on our way to Costco... lucky for us, we read a few reviews and knew that it was in a strip mall in the midst of several Mexican restaurants and store. But we found it and boy, was it worth it. Walking in, it's nothing special.. typical hole in the wall. But it was clean, the staff was especially attentive and the food was excellent. They have several lunch specials, so we did the Bul Go Gi special which was a bargain. We also had the Bi Bim Bap, the rice dish in a stone bowl. Now before the food comes, they give you the small veggie plates (I think they gave us about 19 dishes) which were fantastic. Never had so many and so much variety. Then they gave us little dishes of the Korean Noodles. A steamed egg dish was also given to us at no charge... WOW! And when the food finally came, it was fantastic. Not only was it sizzling hot, but when we commented on the fact that we like our Bi Bim Bap crunchy on the bottom, he promptly brought it back to the kitchen and made it perfectly crunchy. Having a meal here feels like you're going to someone's house for a meal.. they want to make sure you are happy with your meal and take a lot of care and love in preparing the food. Best tofu soup according to me compared to all the other Korean restaurants I had, even from the ones in Korean town in Sunnyvale. My husband and I are always satisfied with the food and service. Service is a little slow. One time I had 4 kids with me and not one of the staff offered to help get a high chair for my 1 year old. I almost thought it was self-service. Food is always pretty good though and it's slim pickins when it comes to good Korean food in the East Bay. It's either this place or Korea House. Kids love the Kalbi. I don't know why Concord Koreans put a heavy amount of ginger in their kimchi but I wasn't really feeling that. All the other sides were great. This place was small but can fit maybe around 50-70 people. Staffs were friendly very attentive. I don't know if it's just Asian people/restaurants but they didn't really smile much. I got the kimchi tofu stew chigae. Tasted different from the usual chigae that I've tried from different restaurants but definitely still tasted excellent. Friends got the seafood pancake. They are friendly. Food was alright...but didnt blow me away. The spicy pork is what I can here for because my place is closed on sundays. Their spicy pork is just ok, nothing amazing. The sides are good. On the higher price side. We both got sodas and 2 meat dishes and it came to 48 bucks with tip! Needless to say I doubt we will drive all the way out to Concord from Livermore again for this place. My 89 year old Korean grandma just moved to Concord. I love her so much! We spend a lot of time together. That being said, she wanted me to show her around her new neighborhood on our Sunday afternoon together. Running errands built up a big appetite for us and grams wanted Korean. The closest Korean restaurant was LUCKILY Korean BBQ Plus. When we [me, grams, and my 4 year old daughter] arrived, we were immediately greeted and led to a cozy table. My grandma quickly ordered our food. She ordered Bi Bim Bab, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab, and seafood noodles. O M G! The flavors were unexpected, the seasonings were spot on! My South Korean native grandma holds food to high expectations in general, but Korean food to even higher expectations. Ordered a bibimbap for the missus while shopping at the korean market right next door. The rice was packaged separately from the rest of the mixins. She enjoyed her meal, along with the side dishes. Her only gripe was that there wasn't enough meat in comparison to the veggies. Will come back to try their galbitang, one of my favorite korean dishes, and in my opinion an indicator of a great korean restaurant. Located in a more rundown area of concord, but still safe! Plenty of free parking in the spacious lot. Pandemic precautions in place, with hand sanitizer and face masks being utilized. No patio dining from what I saw. read more

Korean BBQ realness served here. I came here on a week night after craving some Korean BBQ and seeing other fellow Yelpers reviews. So many awesome reviews with pictures of food that make your mouth water and stomach rumble. The location is tucked away in a plaza that mostly consists of Mexican establishments and a laundromat in Concord. Can be hard to find at night in rainy conditions. It's just straight ahead towards the back on the right hand side of the plaza. All diners receive a complimentary cup of green tea. For food - we both ordered the Dol Sot bowl which came with the complimentary banchan assortment. My only complaint is to not bring the hot pot so hot that when it arrives the rice at the bottom of the bowl is already crunchy and burned. And to add just a little more beef to the bowl. Other than that, the food is amazing here and service is quick and friendly. I love Korean BBQ and will def come back to this place when the craving kicks in again. P.S. there are an insane amount of speed bumps in this plaza. Just a heads up. read more
