I've been here a few times now, hoping my experience would improve, but I continue to leave feeling the same way. The staff seem to focus most of their attention on the regulars, which makes it difficult for new customers to feel welcomed or included. The atmosphere comes across as pretty cliquish. The food also doesn't quite match the prices. It feels more like pre-made or reheated items than freshly prepared dishes, making it hard to justify the cost. Met up with some friends at this cozy wine bar tucked into the corner of a strip mall. Wine flights, charcuterie, personal pizzas, baguette and chees, etc. I tried the red flight which was just okay and $24. You get 4 pours of 3 oz each. I also tried the baked shrimp which came burnt around the edges and served with a sauce that tasted a little like Big Mac sauce (think catsup and relish). I enjoyed the company of my friends and the intimate and dark atmosphere. Service was all provided by one person from what I could see was working had to cover all areas. Better late than never (this review is long overdue) and Leave it to Yelp to introduce me to Kork #wines #charcuterie #flyforfun #flyforwine Roaming around the Sacramento vicinity and passing a couple hours away, I find this place on Yelp by some person who had an ROTD for this establishment that day. Okay, while Fair Oaks was not my final destination, it was on my way so I decide to stop and check it out (#flyforwine) Cute little establishment sits about 8 maximum on the bar, about another dozen on the floor and a few tables on the patio and that's it! Wine selection very local so you might find something you've not seen anywhere else. I chose their red wine flight. They have the white and rose flights also. Didn't ask about the bubbles but I'm sure they have a bubbles flight as well. While I didn't order it, I did see other patrons with their charcuterie boards that did look pretty darn delicious. If I get back to Kork I might give their charcuterie board(s) a try. Service good while there's only one server and He is the bartender, server, table cleaner and all. Get the picture? I adore my little local wine spot. It's so cozy and the owner is amazing. We go here often for Trivia. I highly recommend Kork!

Cute little place squeezed in the back corner of a mini mall. Very nice inside, however; we arrived a few minutes early and were told to wait outside. It was 2:55 and the place was to open at 3:00. So we waited and were told we could come in once he got the chairs down and organized. We finally were let in at 3:10. The owner was still putting down all the chairs and I was very thirsty so he put a water container on a table so you could get your own water and the glasses were all greasy and dirty... no ice just greasy glasses. Then we were told if we wanted to see anything on the menu to scan the QR code. We ordered some wine and a tiny 8 inch pizza. I asked him if we could please have some napkins because our drinks were sliding across the table. There was absolutely no friendly effort or anything that made you feel welcomed. I felt like there was no communication and the place was not a friendly environment at all and we were the only people in the place. We will NOT be back... Our bottle of wine, one beer and a tiny 8 inch pizza was $52. Next-door a Mexican place is opening up very soon with a full bar, outdoor seating and I'm sure they're gonna have music. I think this will be the place to have fun and goodbye Kork. It could've been a wonderful experience if the owner would've been friendly, showed up 15 minutes before opening and had the place ready for customers to walk in and talked with us and told us about the different wines he had, explained maybe some specials and just had a personality and smile. New year/new me. As such, shame on the old me for not already leaving a review for my favorite neighborhood haunt! After living in NYC and LA for the past two decades, coming back to the Sacramento area was a pleasant, yet daunting undertaking. I love my family and friends here. But quality wine bars/spots to grab a bite? Let's just say I've been very fortunate in my dining and drinking experiences in my adult life. Sadly, I've struggled to find the similar atmosphere in the area. Some places are fine and show a decent effort (and I respect that). But none have exemplified the quality and service I've grown accustomed to until I found Kork about 6 months ago. (That's the shame on me part for not posting this sooner). In an era of mediocre service (at best) and bites that make me long for a fast food taco, Kork knocks it out of the park around every corner. From their scrumptious flat breads to their eclectic yet never pretentious wine list, I've never had anything but quality items here. And I've darn near tried them all. Locally sourced charcuterie items, delectable baked mozz sticks, unbelievable wine at affordable prices. I simply can't get enough. Forgive me if this is too flowery a review, but being in this industry as long as I have, I'm very picky. But quality knows quality so I must share the love! Only thing I haven't tried is their desserts. Hello New Year's resolution! It's becoming more and more rare these days to get good service. I think most of us can agree on that. My standards may be too high. But I'm stubborn as an ox. So I must thank manager Steve and owner Amber for always making me feel at home and giving nothing but their best each and every time I've been there (even before we knew each other's names). I almost didn't want to write this review because I wanted to keep this place to myself. I can't be selfish anymore though! This place is a true gem. I've been here a handful of times. The food is always so very delicious, and the wine selection is top notch. The ambiance is also great. It just has such a cozy vibe. WOOHOO!! BEST FIND EVER!! So we were looking on YELP for a wine bar to have a little vino and maybe a snack. We found a place - not too far away and decided to give it a try. It was a little hard to find because it's on a major intersection corner (Madison Ave and Fair Oaks Blvd). And it's kind of hidden in the back corner of a little Strip type Mall. IT'S TRULY AWESOME! We walked in and it was not crowded at all. Two or three people at the bar - who obviously knew each other. It happened to be the Host's (Steve's) Birthday and some people had brought him gifts and cards. So we looked at their wine list and found quite a delightful assortment of wines in a very attractive price range. For the first glass we had the Viognier from Lewis Grace. I've always been a fan of this varietal and this is a beauty. We also had the Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc which is another delicious wine. And New Zealand Sauv Blancs are our favorite.And to finish this first exciting visit, I chose the Findleton Estate Syrah - which was a real treat!! Now, whilst we were enjoying our AWESOME Sips, we decided to try some Snacks. The list is quite eclectic and it was hard to decide where to start. We went for the Housemade Stuffed Mushrooms - which were absolutely fantastic! I wanted more but there's so many other things to try. They have quite a few flatbreads which are, "Made with Love by Amber..." another patron told us they were great so that's what we had. We opted for the Smoked Salmon Flatbread, which was AMAZING. The Marscapone cheese really accents the salmon. We then had the Charcuterie Board - what a great choice that was. What a GREAT Place. The atmosphere reminds me of the sitcom, "Cheers" because it seems like a good part of the people know each other. Maybe because it was the host's birthday, but it IS a very comfortable atmosphere. It's very clean. The music is nice and not intrusive - which happens so often. The restroom is Immaculate and nicely decorated - not like the usual places. The service is excellent. Steve is always on the move. It's not fast food. Each Snack is individually prepared right there on the back bar. So it may take a few minutes. But I promise you that it's well worth the wait. I saw at least one reviewer who didn't want to make KORK more popular, to keep it to themself. WE AGREE. But its so good, I want to share... They have some tables inside and a nice bar to at which you can sit. There's a TV on the wall to watch sports. There's also an outside patio with tables for those who want to sit in the outdoors.
