We found this lovely and welcoming restaurant and bar yesterday, and I'm so glad we did! What a deliciously delightful gem in Fair Oaks Village! We were welcomed by Laurie (who is phenomenal) upon arrival, seated right away, and we ordered drinks after viewing their menus along with the food and drink specials. It was a back and forth deciding on our food orders as everything on their menus looked mouthwateringly tasty. I enjoyed the delicious potato and shrimp Peruvian special, which was incredible, and my husband devoured their rigatoni Alfredo. The wine, food and awesome staff made this first visit so memorable, and I mentioned that I had already planned a return visit for my upcoming birthday. There were quite a few patrons in the restaurant on that sleepy Sunday afternoon, so I know that we weren't the only lucky ones to experience a terrific lunch that day. This place is quaint, charming, cozy, and honestly a little bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The first thing I thought was, "I could easily come here alone, grab a glass of wine or a beer, watch part of a game, and just relax for a while." They had the NBA game on at the bar, but it didn't overpower or distract from the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. The dining room is made up of small tables with couples and friends quietly enjoying their meals and conversations. It has that kind of warm, comfortable energy that makes you want to slow down a little, settle in, and stay longer than you planned. Not every restaurant has to be loud or trendy to stand out. This is some of the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Based on the excellent reviews, I was excited to try this place. I am very confused as to how the reviews are so great. I brought 3 people with me and all of our food was really low quality and just not good. I almost think the restaurant has been offering some sort of promotion for good reviews. It's odd, the 1 and 2 star reviews describe my experience. I just read all the good ones and decided to try it First off, the food. In fairness, our salads were good, and so was the garlic bread we ordered, but it was downhill after that. Lasagna, watery, tasteless and barely any meat. Just a pile of noodles and sauce. One of my other patrons got chicken Plicata (or marsala), and it was terrible. The chicken was like chicken strips for a salad, laid in a circle with no sauce. Dry chicken, and no flavor. We all got iced tea, and it came out almost clear, no taste and like 3 pieces of ice. We all sent our tea back, the server seemed confused and slightly offended. And when we got he bill, we just couldn't believe the prices charged for such low quality food. I feel bad giving a 1 star review, and Id normally try again before making up my mind, but I don't want to ever go back. read more

What a hidden gem in downtown fairoaks. Quaint spot with good wine and excellent tapas. Had such a good time catching up with a friend, we got a bottle of the Boeger wine and 3 different tapas and we couldn't finish. Walked away full and satisfied. We were delighted to find Bodega Biondi open on Sunday (a day they're normally closed). Earlier a private event had rented the restaurant and because he was already there, the owner stayed open for the night. The restaurant was decorated festively and looked out on the brightly lit tree in the renovated Fair Oaks Village square. Most of the tables were full, but our party of two was promptly seated. As the owner whisked between tables taking orders, delivering food and chatting with the customers we perused the menu that is largely Italian classics mixed with flavors and methods from Peru and some Spanish tapas standards. The unique menu is a roadmap to the owner's life story, a Peruvian with an Italian grandfather and a passion for food and gatherings, trained in Spanish restaurants in the Bay Area. We enjoyed a cheese fondue to start (neither Italian nor Peruvian but delicious), then we shared a special of Italian noodles with steak bites in a cheesy sauce with aji pepper. It was so unique and truly delicious we nearly licked the plate clean! For dessert we shared a tiramisu. It was wonderful. The sponge was neither too dry nor soggy, the cream had wonderful flavor and it was the perfect amount to share. We will definitely look for a chance to return on a night they're sure to be open, and until then we'll remember fondly our surprise meal at this lovely spot! read more

This spot definitely surpassed my expectations! I just wanted some pasta but found so many dishes that were good! I believe our server told us that the owner was Peruvian, so there were some of those flavors and dishes available! The empanadas on the specials menu were actually our favorite. They were soooo good! The gnocchi was also one of the best gnocchis I've had! The steak fry saltado dish was just ok to me and same with the salccido (sorry I've spelt that incorrectly). Their wine list is also great! The servers are very knowledgeable and allow you to try some as well. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived on a Friday around 6 PM, but got packed during our dinner! read more

What an unexpected surprise... Nestled in old Fair Oaks, this could be a hidden gem. My favorite dining companion and I settled in at our table, and perused the menu. Diners tip: this is a super small restaurant, and reservations are a good idea. We ordered the gnocchi with pesto sauce as a shared appetizer, The gnocchi and pesto are made in house, and you can taste it! They do offer three different sauces for you to select from for the gnocchi, and the pesto came recommended. The gnocchi was pillowy, and the pesto was perfect. This is definitely a must try. We opted for one more appetizer, and chose the meatballs. Another great call! Service was fairly slow, and the only thing that we could figure out was that by the time the meatballs made it to the table, could have been because they were made to order. However, that wasn't communicated with us, nor were we told that there would be a long wait. So I'm just speculating. It's also possible that other orders were taken care of before ours. The meatballs were delicious! The perfect combination of seasoning, different meats, and just everything. The meatball itself was a good size, and I absolutely love the fact that it wasn't this heavy dish, but instead they have perfected making meatballs. So if these were made to order, then they were absolutely worth the wait. The marinara sauce also surprised me in a good way. It wasn't acidic, it was light and flavorful and a perfect compliment to the well seasoned meatball. The light sprinkling of Parm on top was a nice way to enjoy each bite. We found ourselves full after the two appetizers, and after the relatively slower service, we didn't want to wait for a full entrée. This is a lovely quaint restaurant. Parking is challenging, but if you're looking for a place for a lovely date, good times with friends, or a small family dinner, this is definitely worth checking out! read more

Food: Solid Italian food and tasty. We had the lasagna, chicken marsala, minestrone soup, and calamari. All the food was good overall. Their minestrone soup was thick and I liked the inclusion of lentils. Service: Service was prompt and good. They accepted reservations here. Ambiance: Cozy and warm overall. My only potential issue was the fact that the inside was rather smoky/hazy when we arrived, so their air circulation didn't seem that great when we went. Back patio was quiet and easy to work and eat (and drink). White wine was tasty. Service was great. Second time, brought the Better Half and sat at the bar. Beet salad is a gorgeous presentation. Added the minestrone, which was exactly what this cold, rainy fall day needed. Husband had the harvest salad, which he seemed to enjoy. The tortilla Española was good, but not my fave. Our family went in for the first time. Not a lot of seats so I would book reservations reservations next time. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. The restaurant looks nice and has cool art on the walls. The waitress was super helpful in recommending things to try. The tapas were really good. Highly recommend the octopus and steak bites. My kids shared a flatbread and the rigatoni Alfredo. My wife and I split the chicken Marsala. All the food was really tasty. We will come back. We really enjoyed the Beet Salad(a little pricey for salad) but we could not eat the Eggplant Parmigiana because the skin was uncooked so it was rubbery and could not even cut with the butter knife they give you. We took it home and tried to recook it at home but the skin was still hard - we just threw it out :-( bummer - we should have just returned it at the restaurant but, we will still come back to this restaurant because all the other food items were really good and the waitress, Taylor was really good too so we will definitely come back. My sis saw this place on Channel 31 that morning and said we have to go. And we did, along with two other tables who had learned about it the same way. There is patio dining on the front porch alongside the street. There is a fair amount of foot traffic passing by to the other neighboring businesses. It works but not the picture I had of "Patio Dining". The dining area isn't expansive, but has about 7 tables. It has a nice bistro attitude with lots of wine influences. We were greeted promptly by the personable server. She dropped menus off as we sat but we had come prepared having researched our choices from the web site. It took a while before she came back to get drink order despite the other two occupied tables had already been served. We made out orders at the same time as we were ready to eat. The sis went for the Chicken Parm Panini, the DW opted for the Italian Sub and I rarely pass up an Italian Beef sando (which I didn't this time either). We shared an appetizer of the Spanish Mussels (that is two of us - one is a picky eater :-( ). All the sandos came with "chips" which are thick sliced pieces of potato deep fried (tasty doodads). We loved the Mussels!. Great broth and the Chorizo stood out. Definitely a do-again. The Chicken Parm was a perfect cooked piece of breast with cheese and sauce. No complaints. The Italian Sub was also excellent with the Capicola interjecting a touch of heat. The DW and I really enjoyed it. The Italian Beef was a bit of a disappointment. There wasn't a lot of beef, although what was there was flavorful. The roll was also excellent (soft but strong enough to hold up to dipping). The Giadiniera wasn't spicy as I prefer and limited in quantity. A small quantity of Italian Jus was provided (i was told later that more was available) and it was fine. I am used to the sando being dunked or dipped in Jus and there wasn't enough to do that. We will be back. The mussels and the Italian Sub are worth the trip. read more

Met some associates here for a business lunch. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but the food and service were great. I ordered the meatball sandwich, and it was delicious. The meatballs had the right amount of Italian spices and were very tasty. The sauce they used seemed to be home-made because it was way better than any canned sauce I've ever had. The serving size for lunch was appropriate, not too large, not too small. The server was attentive and friendly, one of my water glasses had lipstick stain on it and he quickly swapped it out for a new glass. The interior is has a nice cozy feel, with soft lighting and would be a great date night spot for dinner. Will definitely be back for that. read more

Was finally able to get a reservation here and went for an early meal with my mom. We absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is cozy and the outdoor tables are so cute. Came here for a date night and had a blast! We showed up early (5pm) and we had no reservations, but we still got a nice two top table by the window. Then by 6pm it got busy, full, and people had reservations so I recommend you get them because it isn't a big place inside. Wine selection was amazing and delicious. Food was outstanding, it's small plates so we got about 5 different things to share and we finished every piece of food. Pics posted so check them out, and this might be our new date night spot.
