You walk into the restaurant, which is located in a strip mall right off of 87ths St. I was met by the owner, he had a balloon resting on his head, and dispite seeing that we were only 2 in our party.. He shouted across the room.. "Do you have 5 or 6?" The inside was a pretty cozy space with probably 12-15 tables in the main dining area, but there was another section that it looks like they use when the main dining room fills up. We decided to have the buffet. On the buffet, there were a couple chicken dishes, lamb curry, a hot shrimp dish, and a number of vegetarian options. I started with the Tandori Chicken. It was probably my least favorite thing I had that day. It was very dry and did not have the typical flavors that I expect when I normally eat tandori chicken. They also had Butter Chicken available, and some Hot Shrimp. When we returned to our table, they had set a basket of garlic Naan in the middle, and filled a cup of mango lassi as well. Both were very good and add to the deliciousness of the buffet. During our meal, the owner and staff did walk around and offer up some other things that were not on the buffet. Jalapeno Naan, Ice Cream, and some sort of drink that reminded me of a hot chocolate with minty flavors. It was a good lunch. The butter chicken was good, but I still prefer Chicken Tikka Masala when it is available. The Shrimp was really the highlight of the lunch for me today. First tried this with a vegetarian family member. We skipped the buffet and ordered off the menu, deferring to my friends familiarity with Indian fare. Everything was good but I especially liked the butter chicken. I've been there since and tried the buffet and while everything is delicious, I prefer the greater variety on the menu. So far thi s is my Favorite Indian Restaurant. The Staff here make a pretty big deal about everybody being happy. " No Angry, just happy! It's a Party Yeah? It's a party!" our waiter kept saying as handed out samples of food I have no idea what they're called, only that they were delicious! This time around I tried the Lamb Korma, medium because i had no idea of their spice levels and I wussed out. Amazing service. Amazing food. Went here Christmas Eve with my family, the staff are friendly and attentive. We were given several complimentary drinks and apps, and even a frozen dessert and rice pudding dessert. Staff would come by to offer us little sample drink like mango lassi, mango juice, and hot chai tea. At the end of the meal a woman came around with warm water and limes to wash our hands with. Love this place so much, I wish I lived in town to go here more often. You won't regret coming to Korma Sutra, especially if you're in the mood to be pampered. read more

Love me some Korma Sutra (aka Indian food). I have been coming here for years and the food always made to order and one of if not the best Indian food in the KC area. Always willing to make it "your way" which for me is extra Spicy. Staff is friendly. Be prepared to wait a little bit for food orders (hence made to order). It's definitely best to come here for the lunch buffet. I've gone for dinner and the staff isn't as funny as the lunch crew. Wow!! I do not usually care for Indian food but this restaurant changed my mind! I ordered Dal Makhni, a vegetarian dish with black lentils and garlic, garlic naan and a bowl of Raita. Before I could actually order, a dish of mango chutney with what may have been Papadam was brought to the table along with what might have been two Alu Tikki. The chutney was delightful and I could have been very happy with just that for the rest of the evening. When our food arrived, I discovered how good the Dal was. I ate it with the Basmati rice that came with it. While eating, the waiter brought out a complimentary dish that I didn't get the name of, unfortunately. When we were done eating, we really weren't done eating. Complimentary bowls of Badam Kheer were served, followed by samples of Chai tea. This was followed by a bite-sized taste of Mango Kulfi. I was ready to roll on out of there because I felt filled-to-the-brim. I was not permitted to leave before being given a to-go cup of Mango Lassi, a drink made from yogurt. The service was wonderful. I felt like I was visiting a friend's family for dinner. Everyone was so nice. So many people had a hand at serving us, including the guy who, I believe was inspired by the Marx Brothers for all the silly things he did. I can't wait to go back!! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. Great food, fun Service, and the ownership always puts a smile on my face, from the balloons, to the food, to the happy - happy service. It can be a little hectic, but eating here is always one of my favorite experiences. I highly recommend a visit if you like good Indian food. This is the best restaurant I've ever been to. There are many complimentary additions at the end of the meal and literally everything my party of 4 tried resulted in wide eyes and delight. Even my skeptical friend was raving at the end. The service is some of the best I've ever had in my life and we were surprised that it wasn't more expensive at the end. I went to this restaurant the other day for a pick up order. Waited 5 mins while the lady looked at me and still kept on cleaning tables while only one table was seated. Chicken masala and chicken biryani was old smelled rotten and nasty , I was given food that was just nuked in a microwave. Best experience on Christmas eve with family during a vacation in Kansas City while it was pouring like cat and dog. It was long waiting and raining outside. The owner kept serving the free hot appetizer to everyone waiting and had everyone inside the restaurant, to not let guest get wet. We ordered assortment of veg and chicken eateries. All tested delicious and flavor was true to curry it should be per my palate. Malai kofta and chicken makhani tested great, creamy and nutty. The naan were served fresh, crisp and buttery. The owner served free lassi and dessert. It was late night on Christmas Eve, so we were worried about milk for our kids as they drink it before sleeping. The owner not only provide bottle full of milk but also warmed it! Fantabulous experience! Note- I referred it to a friend who went to Kansas City for a vacation. He testified to my reviews. Very good Indian food. The lunch buffet is good but dinner entres I think are the way to go. The owner is friendly and goofy. The service for dinner is a little slow, but overall, they provided a good dining experience. I appreciate all the small "extras" they give, like mango lassi and chai tea, however, the prices are just a smidge higher than other Indian restaurants. The character guy (possible the owner? Possibly named Singh?) noticed I wasn't feeling too good when I came in (I'd come to spend time with a friend mostly and was just going to "eat the cost"). Confirmed it with my friend when I wasn't eating much. Brought me a box without me asking so I would take some of the lunch buffet home, which is unheard of. Also brought me a to go cup of tea. This is the best Indian Place in the metro area. Not only is their food delicious, the staff and what I can only assume are the owners, are incredibly welcoming and treat us like royalty every time we come in. I love all the little extras, including appetizer and dessert samples they have kindly given is to try without our asking. And if you stay, you even get a traditional hand cleaning at the end of the meal. They have always been generous and kind. I refuse to eat at any other Indian restaurant. Also, plenty of vegetarian options for my friends. It's a place we can all find something we love on the menu. I've never had any food I didn't love from Korma Sutra and their chai is the best!!
