Good lunch spot but very westernized. I am not an Indian but the flavors here are pretty bland/mild. Everything has lots of cream and butter, but much spices. Lassi seems watered down. My guess is that these folks are doing their best to adapt to the local, mostly non-Indian, customer base. read more

I've only ever been here for lunch, but I would recommend it to anyone trying to get through a stressful day at work. The food is all great - the best Indian food that I've had in the Kansas City area - but what I really love is the ambiance. I've never been and NOT been offered the mango lassi, the chai tea, AND whatever nan is left at the table. The naan, by the way, is always fresh and delicious. Also, if you don't leave with a little badam kheer (rice pudding) and gulab jamun (I like to put them together), you're missing out on a fantastic dessert to go with your spicy meal. read more

The food is good. The owner/manager is insane and will hit on your girlfriend. He is very talkative and will interrupt your quiet dinner to talk about India, etc. They have some interesting policies. Say you'll order Butter Chicken. They''ll push naan and lassi and chai on you, especially if you're a woman. Other times, they'll just bring stuff out, you assume it's...free, and it'll show up on your bill. The manager guy's handwriting is terrible so you can't tell what's what and you get the feeling he'll make a scene if you question anything. Go there on weekends or lunch to get the buffet. We loved this place! This was our first visit. Had Samosas, Butter Chicken, Lamb Saag and Naan. The staff are wonderful and they brought some extra treats to entice us with some sweets. I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. I have tried many others (some in the area and some out in Berkley,CA) and every time I think of Korma Sutra and wish I was there. The one in Overland Park is smaller but the atmosphere is nice an cozy and the owner is a true character and fun to watch. It's not just a place to eat it is an experience to enjoy! You also know that it's good food when native Indians come in to eat. I highly recommend Korma Sutra and for those who are new to Indain food the Butter Chicken is a wonderful introduction(and still my favorite) and you can't go wrong with the garlic naan. First, the good part: The food is very good. I'd put it in the top two of greater KC restaurants; and it's my husband's favorite. We've never had a dish we didn't enjoy and I have been following Singh to various restaurants around the metro for nearly 20 years. Now, the other part: watch your wallet. Notwithstanding my 19-year loyalty, the many converts I've introduced to the restaurant, and being a regular diner, we've been overcharged for our meals on several occasions. It also happened to my brother-in-law when he dined there. My suggestion (no matter how big a pain it may be) is to write down the prices of the items you order and to double check the bill when it arrives. How big a problem is this? Let's say that we no long patronize the restaurant because of this issue. Once is a mistake, twice is unfortunate, but more than that, we have clever theft. Wife and 7 yr old daughter met friends staying at Marriott next door for lunch Thursday to catch up. Place was crazy busy but the top notch staff had us seated within seconds once entire group had arrived. The wife with 5 serious allergies was no match for the restaurant and I need to now the man's name who makes wishes happen in mere seconds as he had her protected from those items and had her plate heaped with safe foods (and special GF flat bread too). Amazing food and fun atmosphere! I am a very picky person when it comes to food. So, I was nervous about eating here. I tried the butter chicken and loved it! The servers were very attentive and kept our party of 6 full on drinks and anything else we needed. They even kept my son entertained with fun drinks, lots of attention and balloons. Love this place! I work right down the street so I hit the lunch buffet on the regular. The owner is an awesome guy, even when you have to wait outside for a table to free up, he will put some food on a plate and make sure everyone gets some. Their cups are small but even at their busiest they are snappy with refills. Between the water, tea, and mango lassi, you will be alright. Very rarely can my husband and I enjoy dinner at a restaurant. I know when we go to korma sutra we'll get great food, friendly service, and they always make sure my daughter is happy. They know If she's happy we're happy. The only thing is that I wish they were so crowded or if the restaurant could expand that would make this place perfect. I do understand if they choose not to expand so that people want to eat here more because its always crowded, people love it, and its very popular...but it would be so much better if they could remodel the restaurant. hanks again! read more
