I have hesitated to leave this review but sadly we had a horrible experience for Sunday breakfast When we arrived the hostess greeted us kindly and sat inside us at a booth. They were not Busy so we got seated right away. We sat down for 20 minutes prior to having the hostess walk by again asking us if we've been helped. The waitress came shortly after that. She took our drink orders and meal order as we have been waiting for some time. She then disappeared for 30 minutes. Another waitress was walking by so we asked her about our food and they sent over what I think to be the manager. He apologize for the delay in the food. We waited another 15 minutes and our meal arrived (45min) My order, my daughters and my husbands were not correct. I asked for scrambled eggs and it was poached, my potatoes were warm not hot and my English muffin was very hard (knife would not cut through) and I had to pick it up to eat it. My husbands potatoes were cold but hot on the top. My daughters eggs were hard and she never received the fruit with her meal. Upon paying for a bill I brought it up again that my daughter did not receive a full meal.we got an okay - that's it I did email the establishment Sunday to make them aware- as of today, no response. read more

The restaurant name is deceiving. It is much much more then a Kornerstone Bistro. The menu was so fantastic that I had a very difficult time choosing my meal. In fact, I asked if my first choice could be switched because I found something else. Never have I done that before in a restaurant. Luckily, they were still able to do it for me. The server recommended a great red wine blend. My meal was thinly sliced roasted beets with smoked salmon and arugula. I ordered decaf coffee and dessert. They were okay but I'm not much of a dessert person anyway. The coffee might not have been decaf because when I arrived home my heart was racing. It could have been due to the fact I was very tired too. Will be back for more menu items. read more

It's just ok. We are there on a Saturday night which might have been the problem but it was very noisy. We felt the menu was pricey for the food delivered. The muscles in white wine were very good and I'd order them again but on a Tuesday when they're half price. I also had the Caprese salad and, while acceptable, the promised heirloom tomatoes were replaced with typical tasteless store tomatoes. One of the slices was white and was obviously an end piece that should have been discarded. My companion had the salmon pieces in risotto and the rice was al dente not smooth. I feel this is more a pizza place (it is heavily represented on the menu). There are better places to eat for the price charged. read more

We had several wonderful meals at Kornerstone. The salad ingredients are fresh, chilled, and delicious. The lobster/shrimp penne is excellent, as is the spinach/pesto pizza. Neveida, Falon, and Brittani, along with Gary provided excellent customer service and made each meal a great experience for us. read more

This spot makes a stellar martini, complete with blue cheese olives. We only got apps at the bar, but they were great. Definitely an older crowd, but I usually like that sort of atmosphere. Classy. We were fortunate to score reservations the same day and the place was hopping during our visit. The staff was friendly and quick to offer additional insight into the specials. We were a party of 6 who ordered oysters and octopus off the daily specials for appetizers. The oysters were some of the best I ever had and I'm told the octopus was underwhelming (no flavor ). I ordered the seafood pasta with lobster and shrimp in a lobster sauce. My meal was pure delishishness and there was plenty of flavor and seafood. Ate here today for the Valentine's Day brunch! It's our first Valentine's Day as mommy and daddy so we were lucky to find a nice, baby friendly brunch event to celebrate. Thankfully we made reservations because it was very busy. Our table was ready a few minutes after we checked in with the hostess. Waiting for us was a great selection of food in buffet style. We weren't shy and got right to it. Food was so good! My favorite were the biscuits and gravy, and I thought it was pretty cool that they even had a little sign that noted "soft" and "crispy" bacon! We enjoyed a little bit of everything, my husband enjoyed the shrimp & grits. Staff was nice, hustling and clearing plates. Absolutely enjoyed our meal last night. We weren't rushed, and were able to enjoy an adult date night. Our waitress was very helpful and answered all of our questions, and if she didn't know the answer, she found it out. The manager checked on us often, and had a sense of humor, and obviously enjoyed his job. I asked about some seasonings that they used on the roasted potatoes (amazing by the way), and not only did he take a picture of the label, he gave us some to try on some sweet potatoes. The bar poured well, and the coffee was hot after the meal. They did run out of some of the specials, but it was my own fault for waiting so late to order. Good thing is if they run out, the specials are likely fresh. We will definitely go back. Thanks for a great night! read more

We ate their Sunday breakfast brunch. It was $15/person and I was really surprised with the spread. I think this is a good place if you have a group with different taste buds and they are hungry! They had eggs, bacon, sausage, eggs Benedict, eggs florentine, shrimp and grits, salmon, omelet station, waffles, fruit, chicken parmesan, pasta with sauce, quiches, pizza and a nice dessert spread. The food wasn't amazing, it was good. I was most disappointed in the English muffin I couldn't even eat from the eggs Benedict. It was hard as a rock. I had a great cappuccino. It had a lot of foam though almost taking up half of the cup. They have fresh juices which are extra and so are the coffees. The cannoli and lemon bar I had were very good. They have a great spread of desserts for any taste bud! It's hard to see this place from Market street. It's hidden next to the Harris Teeter. Our server was very friendly. My only suggestion would be maybe to give another set of utensils. I had one full of egg and then wanted a clean one for my next dishes/dessert. They took my plate and put my utensils on the table. I am a little bit of a germ-a-phobe and then we didn't see our waitress for a while. I think this would be a great place for a larger group or after church brunch. It wasn't overly busy. Tried this place on the recommendation of Tidewater Oyster bar. Must say I'm quite disappointed seated outside and the hostess said someone would turn on the heater. After 10 minutes, still waiting on that and any wait staff to appear. One did help the other people on the patio but ignored us when we said hello. After 15 minutes with no one appearing, we left. Overall this place wasn't bad but I feel there were many things they could have done better. First of all, make reservations!! If you don't and there is a wait there is literally no waiting area. So if you end up waiting in the bar area you will be pressed against the windows amongst other people waiting for a table, people dining and servers making there way by. Fun. The bar tables are not first come first serve. They seat reservations and the waiting list at bar booths and high tops, which I've never seen before. The food was tasty but not off the charts. I got the ravioli of the day, which was a mushroom ravioli. I try to avoid dairy, so I asked the server ahead of time what was in the ravioli. Specifically, "is there cheese in the ravioli filling or just mushrooms?" He said there no was no cheese. There was. *sigh* $10 for a portion of 4 raviolis. The 2 other people dining with me both thought that the portions were very small for the price. Their dishes were shrimp scampi and lasagne. This place is also a bit stingy with the bread. A few small slices for 3 people, and they came to take our bread basket and plates away without asking if we would like any more. Having worked as a server in upscale restaurants, this is generally impolite if the diners have not received their food yet (and have waited for the table for an hour.) read more

No star review!! Got a filet dinner had plastic on it owner comes out says it horseradish !! Wasn't fresh meet obviously!! That's a root not plastic! Bar tender was pleasant. Owner or manager still had to get the last word in as we walked out saying it is horseradish, again. He wanted us gone and was losing his cool. Perhaps a new chef is in order. Lady sitting next to us sent pizza back twice and he was agitated with her instead of kitchen. She was pissed also. I guess the kitchen was struggling tonight to deliver food worthy of the prices and pretentious attitude. Before filet was ordered, we asked about the red snapper. Told it was local off the shores of North Carolina. Bs. Then told it came from a distributor in Leland. That made it local. Hmmm. Red snapper harvest prohibited in NC. So disappointing. read more

I suppose I should have ordered the pizza or spaghetti but I ordered an American burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger I ordered medium well, it came out well well done and the sweet potato fries were almost burnt. I sent back the fries and my friend who was with me and also ordered a burger and sweet potato fries sent her entire order back. My friend ordered her burger medium and that came out looking as burnt as mine. One of our party was smart enough to order a pizza and was the only person who enjoyed the meal. A real let down. How do you ruin a burger and fries? Can't say that after my meal I could recommend this restaurant to anyone who I like. read more

Kornerstone is awesome, my husband & I frequent this restaurant because the food is always delicious and the drinks are relatively strong but as delicious as can be! We live 2 minutes from here so the location helps also. Each server we have had is always willing to give suggestions when we ask for them which is nice. Some nights there is live music on the patio and there are drink specials everyday! I suggest the Sangria, Italian Martini, or the Mimosas are a great way to start your Sunday Funday :) I would have given 5 stars but I hate having to ask for bread & pesto now, it used to be provided regardless before your meal which was great! read more

We were literally just passing by shortly before closing. We saw the KB and decided to give it a try. We were met with the most fabulous smells and a bright smiles, even though it was almost time to close. Our server, Zach, was awesome and promptly served us our beverages, a warm basket of bread and some of the best pesto I have ever had! What a wonderful treat and a great change from butter or olive oil and vinegar. Zach was so enthusiastic about the menu so we made the decision to try several starters and share a salad. The calamari was perfect and the marinara was excellent. We had mussels in a garlic, wine and butter sauce, served with a crusty bread to drench in the broth. I literally wanted to drink what was left! Zach also recommended the fresh mozzarella fritti, severed with marinara. It was absolutely delicious and a wonderfully sophisticated version of a favorite American appetizer. Unfortunately, we were stuffed by the time we finished these because there were many other things we wanted to try! The prices were awesome, as well! We will be back! So I gave you a good review a few months ago but things have really gone down hill or I was presumptuous in assuming the food was good. Two weeks ago we traveled 45 minutes to get a take out order only to get the wrong order, and still be charged for it. But what really bothers me is why you put nutmeg in everything? Not just a bit of nutmeg but overpowering. Who puts nutmeg in lasagna and bolognese sauce? Your lasagna wouldn't be so bad if you left out the nutmeg. Tonight we ordered the beef stew. Where's the beef? No beef or carrots or potatoes just a bowl of gravy. My dog turned his nose up to it. How can you serve someone a bowl of gravy? So after paying $70 we ended up at Wendy's. Don't charge people these high prices without putting out quality food read more

Ordered the Caesar Salad. It was drowning in dressing. Had the special Lobster Risotto. Risotto was like rice. Bland, clumpy. Definitely not creamy like it's supposed to be. Also, had pickled vegetables on top. Vinegar and risotto is a weird combination. Wife had a pasta dish, also bland and plain. Server was nice. We declined to have most of our food wrapped up. Server didn't seem surprised. Manager or owner (bald guy in jean) seemed more focused on pouring beer then the guests and food quality. Will not return. read more

THE SUNDAY BRUNCH BUFFET IS GONE AND SO ARE THE PATRONS Kornerstone used to have one of the finest Sunday Brunch's in Wilmington. Recently they did away with the buffet which was excellent and priced equally with other high end brunches here and replaced it with fixed plate menu. We tried it today as several items did sound good on the menu. The first sign of trouble was when we walked in, as normally at 12:30pm the place is packed and there is a wait even with a reservation. A quick scan of the empty restaurant revealed a single table occupied with a party of two, hmm? I ordered the French toast and received four pathetically small cross cut slices of French bread three strips of bacon and a tiny ramekin of fruit for $9. That was their idea of a full brunch/breakfast. The party of two that was there when we arrived finished and left, another two and a six came before we left. So a total of 14 people may have eaten there when normally there would have been more than 50. Management is going to learn, if it has not ready learned, the old adage screw me once shame you, screw me twice shame on me. It appears many of of their old patrons have learned this and are not coming back. I won't be back until the buffet returns or I here they are serving full portions. As for me it's an hour later, I'm hungry and will now make a sandwich read more

I've been to the Kornerstone a few times for dinner and their Sunday brunch. Their dinners are good, but I definitely enjoy the Sunday brunch more. They have a great variety of food including eggs, bacon, sausage, shrimp and grits, carving stations, desserts, etc. Definitely recommend if you have plenty of room for an all you can eat meal. read more

Being a patron of Kornerstone Bistro I find that a new policy or one they may have reinstated is rediclious. Obviously the Bistro must be doing exceptional well. Our party of 4 arrived at 5:00pm, we told one of the three hostesses that greeted us that we were going into the bar area to sit at a high top. There are four high tops one occupied the other three empty, the hostess advised us that only one high top was available as the other two were reserved for a 6:30 seating, one of the high tops having a standing 6:30 reservation. This was an hour and half from our arrival. The Bistro's bar menu policy is available from 4-7 and can only be taken advantage at the bar or a high top. We were seated, no problems but I can say that there were customers who were turned away and left because no HTs were available. We have dined at the Bistro on several occasions and never were we advised of that reservation policy as a matter of fact we were told that Bar area was first come first served and the booths in the bar area were not available for the bar menu. Is this a scam perhaps not. But, it does make one think about how management could approve this lengthy gap between seatings. Those tables could have been turned over at least once if not more. Not only is that revenu lost but customers that will not return and they probably will spread the word. I strongly advise reservations be made in advance should you want a HT during Bar Menu time. BTW, when we left at 6:45 only one party arrived at 6:30. read more

My husband and I walked in at 6:30 pm on Labor Day Saturday evening. There were a couple of people at the bar, one table out in the patio. Otherwise the restaurant was empty. The hostess asked us what we wanted. (An odd way of asking "how many in your party", but ok...). We said we would like dinner, a table for two. She sighed, raised her eyebrows, looked at her seating chart and shook her head. She looked out over the completely empty dining room area and thought for a moment. Then she told us that maybe she could seat us, but that table was reserved for 8 pm, and that we would have to be finished and leave the restaurant by then, did we think we could manage that? (So that would be 1 1/2 hours for service). My husband just looked at her, I started to laugh and said, "Well, I guess that all depends on how fast the service is here". She continued to look skeptical so we just left. I have to agree with the reviewer that said "The restaurant name is deceiving." Yes. Yes, it is. I thought it was a restaurant that served people meals. (For the record, the husband and I were appropriately dressed and well mannered.) So we went across the street and had a lovely meal at a very busy Asian restaurant. We are locals, not tourists; we just hadn't tried either of these restaurants in the past.
