We designed a separate mother-in-law apartment, had plans made, permits secured and started a search for a reliable, affordable contractor to do the work. After interviewing several others, we were very impressed with Pat Kelley's professionalism and knowledge, but what won us over was his warmth and concern about making this project a safe, practical, and cozy home for my Mom. The construction got underway. Kelleys handled everything with patience and transparency. They communicated openly about budget, modifications and materials, performing the work beautifully. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic happened as we were nearing completion. Kelleys handled our frustration with compassion, complied with all kinds of new regulations, and finally kicked our project through the goalpost, giving us a beautiful new living space. One of the bids we threw out as unrealistic and so low that it was obvious there would be complications. The other three came in surprisingly within fifteen dollars of each other. Why did we choose Kelley Home Services? When the others told us they could not do a custom shower pan (longer that 6 feet), or said that they could not install cabinets that we had bought seperately, or use paint that we already had on hand, Kelley said "Sure, no problem, we have a master tiler who can do that custom pan, of course you want the cabinets to match the kitchen, we would be glad to install them for you." Time and again Kelley said yes when others wanted to steer us toword a better porfit margen for them. Lets talk about the people we got to work with: Pat Kelley, contractor, owner, and very competent leader. He never said no, and never failed to contact us back within 24 hours, even on Memorial Day and 4th of July. Randy, the supervisor and master tiler on our job was polite, respectful and funny. He made sure the crew was there everyday on time, and that all our expectations were met. Every single day, at the end of the day he told us what they had accomplished that day, exactly when they would return, and what they would be trying to accomplish the next day. We always knew what to be ready for, what to expect, and what we could do to help. So smooth! The sub contractors who work with Pat Kelley are outstanding. Both the pumber and electrician knew their stuff, made every change we had asked for without hesitation and replaced like with like; copper pipe with copper, high quality professional grade recepticals, etc. The entire project was completed on time, on budget and best of all, we all parted as friends. Jose was quick and available to our first meeting. We initially tried for a cover attached to the…read morehome, but was not able to get approved for a permit with the city due to location of my drain field. Jose provided drawings with his software and engineering plans so I would know what the finished project would look like. Unfortunately we could not proceed do to city restrictions beyond his control. We pivoted to a free standing cover with the max dimensions without a permit required. In my city that is 120sq ft based on my lot size. I felt very comfortable with Jose's workmanship and ability to follow through with the work laid out. Price was better than all the other competitors quotes by thousands. There were some times were Jose got very busy and was lacking in timely responses, but eventually we were able to get all the details worked out and once work started they finished in about 4 working days over a week. Initially it didn't look like the project would ever take off, but they worked extremely hard with the city to get my project design approved. We added a much larger composite deck with a cover, outdoor kitchen and fire pit area. Mario P. was a fantastic project manager, if you are lucky enough to work with him on your project you'll understand why. He is so thorough, detail oriented and was very patient and responsive to all of our questions/concerns along the way. He always took the time to hear us and resolve any issues we ran into along the way and continues to do so now. He's great at his profession and is even a better person! He had an amazing team around him, Steve and Edwin did an incredible job installing our custom Azenco cover (awesome louvered cover system) that butted up against our house. There were some tweaks that had to be made along the way, but they were able to problem solve to truly make it one of a kind! Teagan with Rock Electric also did an incredible job, he had a sizeable task of installing 4 large Bromic heaters as well as running power and lighting to our Azenco cover and outdoor kitchen. He masterfully hid all the control boxes in an existing stucco pillar, which are located a good 125ft from our electrical panel in the gargage! Highly recommend the team at Timberline Patio Covers, so do yourself a favor and at least have them come out and give you an estimate. They likely won't be the cheapest price wise, but their quailty and craftsmanship are worth it!!
