I grew up with Kowloon as our main dim sum spot and ever since then, I haven't returned until recently. I would not recommend Kowloon as a decent dim sum spot. I would rather choose ABC Seafood or The Pearl over Kowloon if you're in the Arlington area. The restaurant has plenty of tables. Service is quick, almost too quick. I went on a Sunday around 1pm. But the day I went, there was less than 10 tables and the ladies with the carts were eyeing our table every few seconds. This might sound nice but then I got too nervous to look around anymore. I just like to take in my environment while I'm eating. The food quality was sub par. Everything was dry, tough, almost stale. The dim sum was left in the carts longer than most people would like. Pretty much your run of the mill Viet/Chinese dim sum spot that has tons of seating but is always crowded on the weekends haha! The dim sum itself is standard. I really liked their crispy pork but was VERY disappointed by the calamari. It was INSANELY soggy and then they took it to cook it up again and it came back and was STILL SOGGY LOL. Service was okay. The hostess (maybe owner?) was super nice but one of the lady servers we had was literally yelling at the other younger server (some mix up with the stamping) and she was loudly telling him to count all the dishes and then scolded him for being wrong. Again, really loudly and in front of us which was extremely awkward. I also don't expect these places to be the cleanest which is fine but the worker who cleaned the tables sprayed the cleaning solution onto the sauces so just even the slightest bit of attention or care could have mitigated that. Everything looks different after covid! Lots of change in staffing, food, and just about everything and this place is no different! Except it is for the better in my opinion! They used to have a lot of ladies that does not speak English AT ALL w their dimsum carts but now lots of young kids that is very attentive and super fast!! And they understand and can explain what it is they have in their cart! And yes they are very attentive and lighting fast and super super polite!! What a turn around for this restaurant! I have been going here since I was a little kid and that's been 10+ years now. Great place for some dim sum! It is a little run down and old, but what do you expect.. this place has been here a long time! They never fail me when I'm looking to eat dim sum though. In my opinion, the food is always delicious and probably the best dim sum place in the Arlington area. I love going here to eat during their dim sum hours. All the carts going around with all the different options. So many to choose from. It's also more enjoyable when you go with family or as a big group, so you can order more items to share. Best dimsum I've found in Texas so far. Love their chicken feet and tripe. The char siu bao is made perfectly.

This place probably has the cheapest Dim Sum in the DFW. I went to The Pearl a few weeks ago and they charge $4.99 for Chicken Feet. No lies. I will not be going back there. With that being said, not only is this place cheap, it offers a huge variety of traditional Dim Sum dishes. The service is just like any other Dim Sum restaurant, straight to the point with no frills. The wife and I came here a couple weeks ago on a Saturday around 11 AM. They were pretty busy, but still managed to quickly seat us and ambush us with carts and carts full of delicious Dim Sum dishes. We got an order of the Chicken Feet, Chao, Shumai, Tripe, and a few other dishes that I don't know the names of. All of the dishes we ordered were under $5 each. I really enjoyed every dish except for their take on "bot chien" and the sticky rice with Chinese sausage. Do not order these dishes. The bot chien was very greasy and the sticky rice was hard and disgusting. Overall, the dishes we normally order at Dim Sum restaurants were solid. To me, they all taste the same. But, this may be our new go to spot since the prices are reasonable. We'll definitely be back for more! read more

So it's not beautiful. Its even grody. The chandeliers on the ceiling remind me of Asian homes in the 90s. If you can look past that and order off a steam cart, you're in din sum heaven minus the Hell that is Kirin Court parking. Parking here is a total nonissue. I've been eating here since undergrad, circa Bush Jrs first term. I go for the dim sum fix. Fried taro, tofu, eggplant stuffed with shrimp, siopao, shumai (pork and shrimp), beef tripe, sesame balls... and a big ass bowl of rice. Hot tea helps digest. And its loose leaf, not bagged! Caution-- I always get carried away. I come starving, and the food is steaming on the cart. Pointing, ordering, and eating it is great joy. Thus we always end up with a bill over $50 and two boxes of leftovers. Gluttony is life. There's a changing table in the bathroom, that always deserves a shout out. read more

My first impression of this place was the great location, then when walking inside the restaurant I couldn't help noticing how spacious ~ then my initial though was this place must be really popular to hold this many table settings. Everything we ate was great! There were some problems with what we have ordered but they food they served was very satisfying. We ordered water spinach (this was I think good for 6 people) Tofu and vegetable (for 3-4 ) Fried calamari ( it turned out its fried squid but kids loved so we ordered one to go) Then pork fried rice again good for 4-5 people. Honestly been here 2 times and I love their dim sum. They never disappoint me, in fact the 2nd time was better! The staff are super nice and attentive. On weekends they push cart around but if it's weekday you have to order on paper which I like better. Our usual contain chicken feet which is so soft and flavorful. The Ha cao was good but there was too much flour base though I don't mind. The shrimp shiu mai is better than pork and they're are stuffed with filling. 10/10 My to go place! read more

We came here with our son and his wife for dim sum on Sunday. At 11am there were surprisingly few people here. I can't say the experience was "bad" but it wasn't great. Everything we tried at the table was good, just a bit over salted. When we have enjoyed dim sum before it tasted fresher and seemed more of a selection than we were offered here. My family loves this place!! We've been coming here for quite some time. Food isn't spectacular, however as we are regulars wait staff and management is always very kind and attentive to us. Dim Sum, isn't the best, but always still tasty and does the job for something local. My favorite items from the dim sum cart is probably the bbq pork buns, roasted pork, and the beef salad. Don't sleep on the roast pork!! On their menu, the Canh chua is the best! Ask for extra tamirand so that its extra sour, if that's what you fancy. I love that they now offer dim sum every day of the week, but on weekdays, it is by order, so you wont get the carts on weekdays. Oh god I've never had dim sum this terrible. We went early and you would think the food would be hot. First dish was the ha cao and it was so cold, so disgusting, and so dry. It tasted exactly like how those frozen packaged ha cao would taste when heated up. None of their dim sum dishes had flavor. The roasted bbq bun was so bland. How is that even possible? Wow, this place is amazing. We usually come in Saturday afternoons. The food is fresh and tasty. The service is amazing, you are constantly being waited on severed. Every time we go, literally within a minute of sitting down we are stuffing our faces. The staff here really go out of their way to accommodate you. They were out of something, and the little guy ran to the back of the kitchen, things were yelled, and within a few minutes the dish I wanted was served. The food is good but what really does it for me is the friendly staff. It must be noted, that I am extremely picking and I've been eating legit Asian food in this area for a while. Haven't read the other reviews but I wanted to post that OMG service was amazing when I went last Sunday morning for Dim Sum. The staff was all super friendly, drinks were always filled and we even got fresh Dim sum made. We had asked for mussel but one of the waitress said it's been sitting out, I'll tell them to make one fresh for you! EXTRA points for her!!! I'm Asian and I know how Asians were NOT taught Waiter 101! But wow we were totally impressed with the service last Sunday! High 5 to Kowloon! I hope other restaurants in the area would do the same and come fill my water! =) read more

I live in the Houston area now, but my family used to come here all the time when we lived in Arlington. We came back for a visit recently, and even though I typically think food in Houston is way better than food in the DFW area- Kowloon is one of the star exceptions. Okay, to be fair- I come here with my fluently Vietnamese mother, and I let her order everything. She speaks entirely in Vietnamese with the staff, so I don't know exactly how english-friendly it is. I have never seen anyone there that wasn't Asian, but that doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't give it a try!! This place serves both dim sum in the cute rolly carts, and lots of dishes a la cart to be ordered through the server. Waters are constantly refilled, which is rare for an authentic Asian restaurant. My family never really goes for the dim sum, which I think is pretty average. What you want to go there for is for a family style meal using the dishes off the menu. Their Fried Shrimp with Cheese is dream worthy. I've literally tried many restaurants in the Houston area to try and find an equivalent, but I've yet to find one. It's the number one thing to order here. They also have really good Canh Chua and fried shrimp balls (think vietnamese wedding food). The duck with baos is always really good here as well! Definitely worth checking out! I don't ever get the dim sum so I can't comment on that, but family style meals are great here. read more

We went for Dim Sum on Saturday at noon. They have a very large restaurant but only a couple tables were full, which made me worry about how fresh the food on the carts was. Overall some things were better than others. I liked the beef flat noodle dish, though a tiny bit of salt would have gone a long way. The pork shumai was my favorite, and my honey's favorite as well. I liked the sesame/red bean balls. The shrimp balls were ok but a little chilly. I did not like the shrimp egg rolls, they were similar to the shrimp balls but not as good. The crispy shrimp was inedible - it was so overcooked, the shrimp was hard. They also had little flavor so we did not eat but one piece. I noticed that the cart ladies didn't bother telling us what most of the food was, there were many dishes that the Asian customers were eating that weren't offered to us. I would have liked to have been offered them as I am not particularly squeamish and like to try new things. But, I didn't know what they were and couldn't see into the cart well enough to ask. Our bill came to $33 including tax. If we hadn't ordered the crispy shrimp but instead had more shumai we would have come out around $30, which for two people is quite reasonable. Overall I think Dim Sum is best when the place is full and the food moves quickly. Especially with shrimp dishes where you don't want the shrimp to continue cooking but you also don't want it to be cold. At a restaurant with "seafood" in the name though you would hope they knew how to cook shrimp properly. I doubt I will go back for Dim Sum. I could be convinced to try it again for the menu, which is quite large, and see if when cooked fresh i am happier with the food. read more

Now the food is disgusting, cold and the employees are hostile, my dad got yelled at for grabbing a bowl from an empty table and they called him crazy, all on Father's Day. I usually never leave a restaurant with leftovers, but the food here was just that horrible. My fried rice was wet, my dumplings were greasy, and the service was nonexistent.
