Honestly, its a shame... if you live on the west side of DFW, there are not a lot of dim sum places. Either you go here, or you need to go to plano or even richardson area. When i went last week, they were remodeling the main restaurant, so they opened the side where its typically reserved for large parties and or weddings. We got the usuals, har gow, shu mai, cheong fun, sesame balls, broccolini, tofu hua. All were alright flavors. I judge a place based on their cheong fun and this spot didn't do it justice. My son chose this place for all of us to eat for lunch. They have large round tables with the classic Lazy Susan in the middle. Appetizers and dim sum comes around on carts and you can clearly make entire meals just from all of the different pieces. We chose a few pieces as an appetizer and then ordered three meals off of the menu for the five of us to share. Each meal came with a small bowl of white rice and was plenty for all of us. We came here again on a Thursday morning at 11:15am. They still had dim sum carts! We were the only seated party for a while. It was nice. It took awhile for someone to greet us this time but it's probably cause they just opened. We enjoyed some dim sum dishes. The footballs were on point and my favorite this time around. Texture and taste are everything. Shiu Mai is a staple. The ones that didn't hit for me were the crispy shrimp balls (served with sauce), tofu shrimp, shrimp wrapped in white opaque served in a steamer, crispy shrimp version, and the ban cuon shrimp. Ordered a couple extra dishes such as sup mang cua and the MIL wanted some crab fried rice. It's a big dish! But delicious. Had some crunchy parts in the rice ($80). I was in a wedding over the weekend and my friend insisted on taking the Bridal party to The Pearl. Thank God she did that. I had such a nice time. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere was upscale. The Pearl is located in GP. In a modern shopping mall strip called Asia Times Square. Our waitress brought out a 7 course meal. Starting with a flavorful soup. Our Waitress brought a large bowl out and poured it in to smaller bowls. I love the Asian hospitality. Next, we had Egg Rolls. They were large and crispy and were popular at our table. We also had Beef Broccoli, the Beef was tender and thin. We had rice but, it seemed watery? We had over sized Fried Shrimp. It was extra crispy with a Cheese filling. Sweet and Sour Pineapple Fish was served and that was my favorite! The Fried Fish was a good size and it was crispy with a sweet sauce. It was topped with Red and Green Peppers. We finished our meal with some Sweet Mango and Watermelon. It's very quiet in there despite being surrounded by large families. Restrooms are clean. A solid place for dim sum and family style meals. I highly encourage everyone to be seated in the main dining room because if you're seating outside you will not get any carts coming your way and the service is definitely lacking. I wanted to share my experience because, as a restaurant owner myself, I have a certain standard I look for when dining out unfortunately, this visit fell quite short, and he service was the first bad thing. There seemed to be plenty of staff members standing around, yet only one or two were actually working. I watched a couple walk in and sit for 15 minutes without a single person acknowledging them or taking their order I eventually had to point them out to a staff member just so they could get service, and the food issues were equally disappointing. The meal served to us was cold, and it appeared to have been sitting out in a box by the checkout counter rather than being prepared fresh. A kind staff member did reheat it for us upon request, but the quality of the food itself just wasn't there. To cap it off, when we asked for togo boxes for our Peking duck, the staff stood nearby watching us and speaking to each other in another language. While I don't speak the language, the pointing and constant glances made it feel like they were making fun of us, which left a very uncomfortable impression. I don't hold this against the owners personally, as I know how challenging this industry can be, but there is a clear need for better training and a more focused kitchen staff. Every time I visit The Pearl, the food gets better and better. The dim sum on the weekend is pretty decent and portions are pretty big. My favorites are the Xiu Mai and the shrimp rice noodle. The ha khảo is good but the wrapper always falls off the filling. I also love getting their thousand egg rice porridge. The dinner menu here is also pretty decent depending on what you order (I would stick to the less American dishes on the menu). Be aware though, the food here is kind of bland so you definitely need extra soy sauce. Service is average. The restaurant itself is clean and new looking. I am not from the DFW area, but from what I've have heard, Arlington doesn't really have a dim sum scene. This restaurant was a popular choice online. Unfortunately, this dim sum at The Pearl is not good, and I would not recommend fulfilling your cravings here. On the plus side, the servers are very friendly and gave service with a smile. I ordered my favorite items, and honestly, I didn't like most of them. The only items that were just ok were the cha siu bao (steamed BBQ pork buns) and the siu mai. The steamed pork spare ribs were bland and dry. They tasted like they were just boiled in water with no flavor at all. The lo mai gai (sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf) was so dense, and there was very little filling. The meat inside was dry. I expect a satisfying plump bite of shrimp when I eat har gow; their har gow does not deliver. The wrapping was thick, dry, and the filling was scarce. The flavor of the steamed beef tripe with ginger and scallion was decent, but the texture was too soft and mushy. The soy sauce for the shrimp cheung fun was too salty, though the rolls themselves had a good texture and the shrimp was good. Their bathrooms are not well maintained. They literally can't be bothered to put the paper towels or TP into the dispensers. They leave the paper on top of the dispensers or on the wet counter which is not sanitary. read more

There were a few of us with a variety of dietary needs such as shrimp allergies, vegetarians, etc. We haven't been here before & the lady who took or order was nice & took the time to explain the portion sizes for several items. Dim sum wise my favorite was the shrimp & pork shumai & pork buns. The beef chow fun was really good! We did order soup dumplings which were a little dry (my cousin had them here before so it might've been an off day) & the broth in the wonton soup could've used a little more salt. In regards to the soup, I do like things a bit more salty so it might be a personal presence... my family raved about it. This is a review of course so I want to be honest, but know everything else was good! The restaurant is nice, with soft lighting which is nice because it's not super bright but not dark... sometimes I feel that's an issue with an ambiance. I really want to comment the staff in their service, they were also quick & food came out fast but it didn't compromise quality. The restaurant is also clean, including the restrooms. I feel like I must always point these things out, when you are busy & have all this traffic flow AND you maintain the cleanliness of a restaurant that's a big plus. I've been craving for a specific dish which is the salted egg yolk baked bun, they didn't have the baked version but they did have the steamed one and it was still really good. I also recommend their pork siomai, shrimp hakaw, steamed pork ribs, pork barbecue bun, shrimp balls, roast crispy pork, pineapple bun and sesame balls. Service is always great. It gets pretty busy so get there early. It does add up, for two people you can spend over $80 not including tip. read more

Located inside the Asian Time Square plaza in Grand Prairie, my family and I were quite excited to find a dim sum place with pushcarts. However, we were already disappointed in the first few moments we sat down. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and kind but were quite clumsy with our dishes. One burnt their hand while handling our sticky rice dish, and the food actually toppled into the cart water used to keep the dishes warm. Of the many working that day, only two spoke Chinese, and the rest required assistance in identifying the names of dishes when we'd asked. We were understanding as they were likely inexperienced staff members, but this was an important aspect of improvement we'd like to see. However, the food tasted lackluster in general. The chicken sticky rice we were served was not 糯米鸡 but rather 荷叶饭, which are in essence two unique dishes that look similar, but taste very different. (This was probably only an issue due to the difficulties of translating what we wanted into English, and led to minor misunderstandings). Still, we found that the rice was dry/not at all sticky enough. Another example is the 肠粉 changfen, where the 肠粉皮 skin was rough and made much too thick. If made well, the skin is usually thin, smooth, and translucent to the point you can see the fillings inside. Lastly, they had a very limited selection of teas (no 寿眉 white tea, which most dimsum places should have, but we had to settle for 茉莉 jasmine). This wouldn't have been as much of a problem if they didn't refill us our pot with the wrong type of tea the second time around and charged us five times for 5 cups (1 per person). Overall, we felt that the quality of food and service we got was not worth it. Some would exaggerate and claim this was a disastrous experience, but I felt that the waiters and waitresses were putting in a lot of effort to compensate - which is why my rating is ultimately 2*. read more

We were craving dim sum for lunch and found The Pearl. It is conveniently located where parking was sufficient. We waited to be seated since there is a lunch crowd, but wait was not bad at all. We had hargao, pork siumai, bean curd, beef tendon, Machang, and chicken feet. Our food was hot, and everything was delicious. The pearls dim sum has gotten really delicious! Everything was plump with lots of protein! Steamed to perfection and loads of flavor! They have lots of new additions that were eye catching while the carts were rolling around. Most that you don't ever see in most dim sum restaurants! Service is really great and attentive. What happened to this place? Came in on Saturday for an early dinner. Saw that there was a wedding reception being set up in the ballroom so I was worried that service may be slow for regular dining. I was correct but felt we were ignored even more so than the other diners seated in the middle of the restaurant. Waters weren't refilled and dishes weren't cleared away. The food was sadly disappointing. We enjoyed the mushroom and snow pea leaves dish the most. The roast duck had no flavor. I actually enjoyed the bbq pork more which never happens. The beef chow fun was decent but the orange beef was horrible. So much that we didn't even pack it to go. It tasted very generic. I did like that you can order dim sum off the menu after 3:00 pm which is when their cart service ends. There was a dim sum item that we were told wasn't available during our meal that wasn't taken off the check. Couldn't find anyone to correct it. A very unpleasant dining experience and unfortunately it was a dinner for a future bride to determine if she wanted her wedding reception to be held here. I hate to say this but this is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in this area. We went in around 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday evening. The place was not crowded but it seemed busy. There was about five or six wait staff on the floor working that evening. We enjoy the fact that we had table side dim sum carts come by, but we wanted an entree from the menu to share. Once we place our order it took over an hour. I truly believe that our waitress forgot to place our order. We had to ask several times fornrefills of water while we waited for our food. Felt like we were alone and all the other tables will be served except for us. So we decided to cut our losses pay for what we had and leave. I can truly say I will not be going back to this location and will not recommend this to anyone. While the dim sum was pretty good, you can get that almost anywhere, but the service was really really terrible They weren't rude. This place is overrated. We came for dinner around 5pm on a Thursday night. Ordered dim sum off the menu assuming it was made fresh, definitely not the case. The baked BBQ buns were not even heated, it was cold. The shrimp/pork shu mai had a weird texture, the pork inside was mushy, and the sesame balls were also cold.
