I don't know what changed, but while Seattle Pet Pals helped us very much when our dog was a puppy, we found that they weren't really equipped to handle that many dogs. Tim and Ruth were great and attentive with our dog, but their one other employee was lacksadaisical in the extreme when it came to showing up on time or walking the dog further than the end of the block. We have a very large, very happy dog and their employee was either not physically capable of working with him or didn't. Several times we got reports of the employee merely standing outside letting the dog use the bathroom, then hurrying to the next appointment after smoking a cigarette. Seattle Pet Pals gets two stars because while Tim and Ruth themselves are dedicated, honest, good workers with animals, they had an employee who got caught short changing our dog for the service they provided. When we brought it up, we were told that was the only employee they had and they simply couldn't provide service without them. At that point we regretfully had to terminate service - but not after our dog had sat in his own feces for six hours one day in his crate because their employee hadn't walked him for more than five minutes. In this case, it's simple subtraction - I give a place five stars. One star subtracted for the crate incident. One star subtracted for the employee who failed to provide service. One star subtracted for the service's unwillingness to listen to their customers. The simple fact is that Tim and Ruth are great people with dogs and this situation may have been avoidable from our end as well; but we simply could not trust their employee to do more than let the dog out for five minutes instead of the thirty-minute walk we had contracted for.

The Answer: We found Seattle Pet Pals and knew immediately that this was the place we'd been looking for. Tim was perfectly thorough on our first phone conversation and asked all the right questions. He inquired about her demeanor, character, socialization, training, allergies, etc. Upon pickup, Ruth was very tuned in to our girl and all of her quirkiness. You could tell Ruth was a professional dog trainer in the way she interacted with our pup. What I most appreciated was how she allowed time for our puppy to feel comfortable and relaxed, even if it took 35 minutes. The Parents: We actually enjoyed our vacation! We were as worry-free as we knew how and are so happy that we have finally found THE PLACE ... after 3 long months of trial & error!

We moved here without having any family nearby who could watch our dog when we traveled or had a…read moreday or overnight trips. My personal preference is for my dog to not be in a kennel or cage so that was my guideline. The first time we needed to use Happy Hound was on fairly short notice and I appreciated that they were able to accommodate me. HHH requires each dog to come in to visit and be evaluated before coming for a stay. The staff also will give a tour of the facility, which was reassuring to me. The evaluation was not really formal, my sense was just to see if they behave well around other dogs and would do OK at the facility. Note that they don't allow young children to come to the tour or inside the facility - I actually appreciate that even though it required some extra planning. After the first time I dropped off my dog, one of the staff called me one or two days later to let me know that she was doing fine and enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen. It was a very nice gesture for them to call. A different time that we brought our dog, she was very nervous to even get out of the car - the manager was so patient and gentle in helping get her out of the car and then called me a couple of hours later to tell me that she was doing well. I even received a couple of photos emailed to me from her stay - hanging out in the kitchen of course. If my dog was high energy, this place would be heaven for her given all the outdoor activities and opportunity to run, move and play. Since she's older and low energy, the staff tries to have her hang out with some older or calmer dogs. I agree that the price is a bit high, but it's a different pricing model (one price and the dogs have fairly free range) than other places which have a set price and then you add on for outdoor time or playtime per day, etc. I really feel like the owner and people working there care about the dogs and are knowledgeable. I separately asked the owner for advice on a concern with my dog and she replied quickly, remembered my dog and had good input. We'll certainly be back, whenever we need a dog hotel!

I like the fact that this Happy Hound Hotel is a no kennel boarding facility, I would never lock my dogs up in cages, and so I can appreciate that. The owner Linda is an overall caring person, and I honestly believe she cares for the dogs, but I just think she over crowds her boarding facility. I know it's busy over holidays, and I remember being concerned by the number of dogs when I dropped off my dog, and after picking her up, she came down with a pretty bad case of kennel cough. I also think It's hard to provide personal attention to every dog when there are thirty-five or forty others to care for at the same time, and chances are some dogs might not be corrected fast enough when they are rough with other dogs. Does not accept smaller breeds, and so we had to separate our dogs and board them in different facilities. This was a big disappointment. The cost for boarding is on the high side. And I read that starting in January 2013, the price is increasing by almost $5.00 per day. I will not be taking my dog back to Happy Hound Hotel in Sammamish. I will look for a place that does not board so many dogs and doesn't charge close to $60.00 per day.

He took my dogs outside where there was another dog. My dog and that other dog were barking and running along the fence. It was hard to pull away seeing this seen, but then in all of a sudden, I see the owner correct my dog and the other dog that was barking at each other. Both dogs calmed down and stopped barking. Totally made me feel good to know my dogs will be in good hands while we're in vacation. I know there are a negative reviews on the cleanliness or appearance of this place. It's true, it's not a fancy hotel for your pet, but my dogs like rolling in dirt, they sometimes choose the floor over their beds, and they don't get toys anymore because they sometimes fight over them. This place is set up to meet the needs of all types of dogs and to keep them protected. As long as you communicate with the owner of your dogs needs (if any), there are no issues. I have no other relationship with this facility than being a customer. I truly trust them with my dogs (who I consider my babies).

Needed a kennel for our cavashon for a 3 night layover. People were nice and arranged for airport…read morepickup and dropoff, but vehicle was unmarked and dirty and the attendant didn't check any paperwork or ask about feeding or watering instructions. Upon delivery back to the airport, the dog's shipping crate water bowls had urine in them and the dog was incredibly thirsty. Add to this that the driver wouldn't meet us at ticketing, causing a delay which made us very late. Use another kennel first.
