I was looking for a dentist that could replace the dentist I had been seeing since I was a teenager (many many years ago), because my dentist dropped my insurance plan. A friend recommended Dr. Krantz, but I was looking for a place closer to my house, so I called a few other offices first. I was surprised by the office staff at these other offices and their snotty administrative personnel, so I contacted Dr. Krantz's Office. From the very first phone call they have provided superior customer service with a friendly attitude. I have never had any issues with my bill, as they bill my insurance company directly and I don't pay anything for preventative care. My whole family has been seeing Dr. Krantz for over a year now and we are very happy. They are committed to quality and our overall dental health. I have been a patient of Dr. Krantz since moving to Jacksonville in 2010. I have never had a bad experience there and consider the cost of service to be very reasonable. My recent appointment for a routine cleaning was done under the most hygienic conditions. After arriving, and in accordance with their new Covid-19 procedures, I texted the office and was invited into the waiting room immediately. A plexiglass shield was in place to limit exposing the office staff. My regular hygienist, Pat, met me in the waiting area and escorted me back to the chair within 5 minutes of arrival. She completed the cleaning without causing any discomfort. Then I was escorted out the back door, to avoid contact with any new patients who might be in the waiting area. My husband and I have gone to Dr. Krantz for a few years and never had a problem until recently. We are both in 60's, I was told I needed a crown and for a while they've been trying to sell me a mouth piece, braces, etc. I finally agreed to the mouth piece if insurance covered it. Spoke to the girl up front and made appointment for the crown , told her I'd pay my portion of $500 and she charged my cc $250. which I didn't catch. She gave me paperwork and said insurance "covered" my mouth piece. Here lies 2 problems, one I thought $500 was charged, 2, insurance did not cover "all" the mouth piece. They are very shrewd with their tactics of "coverage". I later was made aware of the balance of $250 and paid that promptly over the phone, made appointment for the mouth piece that wasn't working and actually made things far worse. My jaw was in spasms and I had severe headaches from it. I went to 2 more adjustments and finally dr. Krantz said they should not have sold me this one, that he could cut off the back portion and try that. Never happened as I quit going. Not only did I quit going over this and their shrewd tactics of selling and making you believe it's "covered" but for my husbands last visit. Keep in mind, we are in 60's. He asked my husband if He had braces, husband said no and he stated something derogatory under his breath about "you're one of those people". He came home to tell me and that was the last straw! We both are financially responsible, hence the reason I paid my portion of the crown BEFORE I got it which by the way needs replacing according to my new dentist. She says it doesn't fit, too much spacing around gums. (Dr. Krantz did not do this) Long story short....now they are threatening collection for the $230 balance on account. Pondering a suit or letting it go! I don't know what happened to this place ? I believe my original review was A+. An apology to my husband is in order and more accountability for the things you say are "covered" . Whether the insurance pays for it or not, if the product was never going to work in first place as Dr. Krantz stated later, then WHY sell it to me to begin with and cause this ripple effect of negativity which has ensued?! read more

I have an impeccable dental routine but after 3 failed refillings from the old mercury to amalgam with Dr. Krantz and an in excess of $3800.00, I would truthfully state I'd never go back nor refer him to any of my friends, family or colleagues. All three teeth, the partial and bridge (flapper) failed and resulted in the permanent loss of teeth and placement of dentures. Check my records office staff and then check Affordable Dentures records; you'll see I'm not fabricating this tragic occurs. I went their for a Crown And I was blown away by the technology they have I'm a Tech guy myself Plus I've been to multiple dental offices up North in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, And yes here in Florida Over the course of my life And I am truly amazed with the equipment they use here. Still sticking with 4 stars, but wanted to give a quick update. My last couple of visits for cleaning were a bit lackluster... there seemed to be a bit confusion on who was to go where... and to me, the last few hygienists didn't do a great job with the basic cleaning.... Then last week, I got Amy. SHE WAS SO AWESOME that I really wanted to give her a hug after the visit! Super friendly, gave me great advice about whitening my teeth at home, very funny and made me super comfortable the entire visit. Apparently I had a different experience than some other reviewers here. I was coming off of a traumatic dental experience (2 weeks prior to my first visit here). The entire staff were careful to treat me gently. Dr. Krantz was able to fix a sharp tooth left by the prior dentist without me feeling a thing) and Pat was simply amazing. She cleaned everything the hygienist 2 weeks prior left behind (which was quite a bit) and you can tell she takes pride in not only her work but her profession. I was quite happy with my visit, the facility, and the staff. I found my new dentist. read more

The staff is very professional and friendly, I just feel like they are understaffed. I made an appointment to have two chipped teeth fixed before my best friend's wedding. However, the office called me 3 days before my appointment informing me that they had to cancel the appointment and I would have to reschedule. However, they did not have anything available until 2 months out. I just feel like if you are cancelling my appointment that I made well ahead of time they should have been a little bit more accommodating. read more

I had my first appointment here a day ago and the only problem I had was I waited 40mins to be seen because they had their meeting and the lady who greeted me did not acknowledge my wait time . My appointment was at 12:10 and the meeting wasn't over until 12:25 and then after that I waited another 20 minutes to be seen so I wish they could have inform me or schedule me for a different time so I don't waste my time waiting or coming in early to sign the release forms. This is hands down the best dental practice I have ever been to. The office staff are very friendly and efficient, the waiting area and exam rooms are comfortable, well-maintained, and spic and span. My appointments have always run on time. My dental hygienist was really good, i LOVE her, she is very gentle and careful, and did a really thorough cleaning despite me being a bit of a difficult case. And dr. Krantz is extremely knowledgeable and thorough, and really knows his stuff. I feel very confident that I am getting the very best dental care . This practice is almost an hour's drive from my home, but it is worth going there. I want to add that I am not a very compliant patient, and they are extremely understanding and supportive and non-judgemental and do everything they can to help their patients, no matter what. I retract the very nice review that I left yesterday of this office. I'd like to first start off by saying that Dr. Krantz and Pat are wonderful! However, in order to run a successful business, your staff shouldn't lie to clients. I found this dental office through my insurance provider so I wanted to give them a try after all of the positive reviews I read. When I was making my appointment, the first person I was dealing with took my insurance information just as they usually do, I made my appointment and all was well. No one bothered to tell me that this office is out of my network, regardless of me finding them through Florida Blue (which they were confronted on today also.). Once I was done getting my teeth cleaned, two of the nurses up front told me I didn't have the best dental policy and that cleanings aren't covered under my dental insurance, which was very odd. After I told them that wasn't correct and I'm to get two free cleanings a year with my policy, they then told me that Florida Blue only covers $20 of my payment and I'm to owe the rest, which come to find out isn't true at all, which I confirmed with Florida Blue today. ALL DENTAL INSURANCE POLICIES COVER TEETH CLEANINGS. After being told that they looked over and over my policy and that's what it states, I owed them $120. This seemed so odd to me. I call Florida Blue and told them what happened and they had to call this office and figure out what happened. Then they give the FL Blue rep a completely different story and tell her the reason I had to pay was because I was out of network. The two times (when I initially made my appointment and when my insurance card was collected again at the time of my appointment), no one bothered to mention to me that I was out of network. And I very much didn't appreciate the false story that cleanings aren't covered under my policy when they so clearly are. They had two opportunities to tell me I was out of network (which Florida Blue got an earful about this too!) and no one said anything and then I get a silly story at checkout, all while they got my $120. A serious refund needs to be issued here. I only have two stars because Pat and Dr. Krantz were so nice and did a great job on my teeth. The rest of the girls up front need a lesson in truth and honest and not being manipulative to customers. read more

Staff members were really lovely, but I had two wasted visits. On the first, they screwed up the scheduling. I even showed my confirmation email, but they could not fit me in. I rescheduled, only to come back and find out they do not offer sedation, as suggested by the advertising, only Valium from only one of the doctors. read more

Our entire family of five has been seeing this absolutely wonderful dentist for more than 5 years. Regrettably, we've severed ties with Dr. Krantz because his office staff has been dismissive and rude. We made an overpayment, a payment his staff said they had verified through our insurance, and I've had to call 5 times over the past *two months* trying to get it resolved. Our insurance company sent us a statement of benefits detailing payment, and stating that we were owed money back, and Dr. Krantz's office verified that we had indeed overpaid . . . they just apparently didn't want to issue the refund we were owed. We've been hung up on, laughed at, and been refused a way to contact Dr. Krantz directly. After being told for the second month in a row that refunds had already been sent out and that we weren't getting one, and after I asked if I was going to have to come down to the office in order to speak to Dr. Krantz, the office manager told me "I'll cut a special check just for you," and hung up on me. I called back and asked to leave a message for Dr. Krantz for him to call me, or if I could have a direct e-mail address for him, and was denied both requests. That's okay, ladies, I'm pretty good with Google, and just wrote Dr. Krantz a 3-page letter and sent it to his home address. He may have a thriving practice, but I'm pretty sure he can't really afford to be losing entire families of patients due to his unbelievably rude and ineffectual office staff. Do these people not understand that we generate the business that pays their salaries, and that nobody is going to put up with such treatment when you can easily find another practice? read more

Their business practices are designed to benefit them and not consider their patients. There are numerous dentists in this area and I have had much better experiences elsewhere than here. The woman who was explaining my insurance benefits was extremely rude and condescending. The worst dentist I have ever been to in my life, and I was in the army for 4 years and dealing with those contracted dentists so that should tell you just how terrible this place is. I know there are quite a bit of good reviews on here, but I honestly would not be surprised if those were all written by employees. Let me tell you my story. So, I go here a couple of months ago to get a cleaning. They tell me that I have no new cavities, but that they recommend that I get some of my older silver fillings that I've had since I was a kid replaced. The owner Krantz came in and said something along the lines of most dentists would just recommend you replace them all, but we only do what is best for the patients here. I knew right then that something was fishy, it sounded like a used car salesman telling you how they are more ethical than your typical used car salesman. I had absolutely no pain at all, and I should have just said no thank you, my fillings are fine, but I had good dental insurance and it was all going to be covered so I agreed. HUGE mistake on my part and I regret it tremendously. So I go in and get the fillings done by one of the assistant dentists, not Krantz. I think she must be kind of new or something because she messed me up big time. A week goes by and I couldn't even eat on that side of my mouth without having excruciating pain. So I call and they tell me to come in for an adjustment. I go in and get it done. Another couple of weeks go by and I still cannot eat on that side of my mouth. I call again, and they go "oh you must need a root canal". So I say you're telling me I had no pain, and trust you to replace fillings that probably didn't even need replacing in the first place and now you are trying to shove me off on somebody else to spend even more money? Yep that is exactly what happened. So I went to an Endodontic place and sure enough, now I need a root canal. He showed me my x rays and they had gone so deep on this tooth that they caved in the space between my roots and tooth. It is insane. That cost me another $250 bucks, and I still have to get a crown now to go over it. I don't even know how much that is going to cost yet. Again, before going to this dentist I had NO PAIN at all. They are crooks! And then on top of that a few days ago I get an email from them saying "it's almost the end of the year, don't forget to use up all your dental insurance money". That sums up right there what this place is all about, money. They are greedy scumbags that deserve to go out of business. I paid for a filling replacement and in return got a bunch of pain and spent a lot more money than I should have. They didn't offer to pay for their mistake either, nor did they even admit they made a mistake or admit that all they wanted was money. Well, hopefully this review will end up costing them more than they scammed off of me. I hate this place and would not wish it on my worst enemy. Think twice, think three times, think a million times before coming here for any dental work. You have been warned. Please do not make the same mistake I did it will cost you. They'll probably try to comment on this saying how it wasn't their fault and that I would have needed the root canal anyway, which is completely FALSE. Amy always does a great job. She is one of the reasons that I keep going back even though we now live farther away. She is always nice and my teeth don't hurt after I get a cleaning. This is a very nice dentist office overall and they don't keep you waiting. We are usually called back on time and in the rare case we aren't we have only waited about 10 minutes. I've been seeing Dr. Krantz for almost my entire life. While I've never particularly enjoyed going to the dentist, I'm thankful to have one that makes me feel comfortable and cared for. They have always been very helpful when I've had questions and thorough with their examinations. It is a very pleasant experience from start to finish. The front desk staff are so kind and helpful, the hygienists always do a great job and are very knowledgeable, and Dr. Krantz is very experienced and consistent with his work. Wow! Were they all amazing! From the moment I walked in, when they greeted me so warmly, to the moment I left, when they offered me a flower to take home. This is how an office should be run. Dr. Krantz is the most knowledgable dentist I've found. He knows the industry inside and out and it is clear he has a high regard for his patients. He makes you feel as if you're his only patient. The hygienist was gentle and thorough. I needed to talk about some options for financing and the person I spoke with laid out all the options very clearly. I have been to many dentists across the country and this staff is by far some of the best. I have seriously sensitive teeth and was offered numbing spray for my cleaning without having to ask. The staff was very friendly and patient. My pregnancy has caused severe bleeding and my cleaning took nearly 2 hours, but once was I made to feel bad or as though I was holding any one up. The hygienist was SO sweet and thorough. She explained what she was doing and why as she went, making me feel comforted the entire time. I will absolutely tell everyone about these guys. read more

I went into there and the women the customer service was amazing very welcoming very easy to fill out the paperwork they were pretty thorough with their questions and the lounge area was very warm Where You Are welcoming than a really nice decent size TV so my 11 year old was pretty busy with that and reading her book she seem to be pretty comfortable there as well they didn't wait too long to be able to have to go into the back and everybody who talk with me introduce themselves give me a handshake they're pretty honest about what they needed to get done with my teeth and they did great x-rays to head pretty good up-to-date technology when it comes to dentistry in my eyes at least and then also the cleaning felt great my teeth feel phenomenal and they sent me down to talk about my dental care plan and what the outcome is within the year of what our game plan is and they were very professional about it they sent me down into a room where we could talk about finances and realistic things and what we need and what we want to get done I will most certainly go back at the end all the females because it's me because A Mother's Day flowers as well which was really nice read more

Benefits were supposedly verified before procedure was done. I was emailed stating that I would only owe the $50 deductible. After the procedure, I was billed $779.00 as they found out "after" the work was done, the insurance had a waiting period. I have tried numerous times to resolve this issue with them - forwarding all correspondence where it was stated to me what my charges would be. There is a HUGE difference between $779.00 and $50.00. This is ruining my credit. I don't think I should be held responsible for their error in verifying. This procedure was not done for 3 weeks so there was plenty of time to get this right regarding verifying benefits. I will never go there again and will continue to advise everyone I know, not to either. This needs to be made right by Dr. Krantz. read more
