We live close by so we eat here pretty often. Most of the time, food has been served hot and perfectly cooked, but a few times we have experienced disappointment when our fried dish wasn't hot. But it's no big deal because you simply tell your server and they will happily make it right. I got excited on our visit Friday night because I finally caught the whole fried flounder. They only get it on occasion and it goes quickly when they do, from what I've been told. It was delicious. It was well seasoned and so good! Almost, if not all, items can be grilled or blackened - not just fried. For fish, you can choose from catfish, flounder, or yellow tail snapper. I've had all three. I like the fried flounder or catfish and enjoy the snapper blackened. The Gumbo is normally really good. I feel like sometimes the spice level varies, but generally it's not too spicy. The steamed royal reds with corn and potatoes is a good value. They automatically bring out coleslaw. I really like it, but it has sugar so if you're not a fan of that then you can just skip it. One thing I haven't tried yet is the fried green tomatoes with the crawfish sauce, but I've heard good things. There's usually a wait and the building can get loud when it's packed. I wouldn't pick it for a date night, but we will continue to frequent it as a family. read more

If you don't need a view and just want really good fried seafood this is the place to go. These people go get the seafood directly out of the gulf and Bay and bring it directly to their processing facility in Bayou La Batre and then straight to the restaurant. I was hesitant to say I notice segregation every time we went because I enjoyed the food but even that has declined . My 06/08/2024 visit was the final straw. I visit Kravers at least twice a month...it's my family's Friday night dine out. I recommended Kravers for my mom's 74th birthday. We had 15 guest and was told that an 8 round top table would accommodate us by who I believe to be the manager ( short , white male , wearing a fishermen shirt and khakis. ) We asked if they could open the party dining area and was told by the manager it isn't available until 3pm...its was about 2:30 when I asked. As we waited for our party to arrive , the manager advised us he would sit us in the back by the bar in a booth and a separate table because of the party size...remind you its well over 3pm and the party room wasn't mentioned. Several tables were available in the open floor area. It felt like we were being kicked to the back of the bus. Each visit we're placed in the back as if it's embarrassing to have black customers. I didn't want to make these assumption of prejudice behavior but I couldn't ignore it any longer. The same manager is there everytime I visit... I personally watch him ask multiple white customers about their experience each visit. I have never received a hello from this guy, a smile , nor a how was the service. read more

Kravers has it all going on! FINALLY made my first visit to Kravers after much family and friends suggesting I go. I must say I was not disappointed! See all my pics! Right off the bat - BEST FRIED CRAB CLAWS OF MY LIFE! I do not say that lightly. It's one thing to have good flavor with supple meat on those crabby southern delicatessens but Kravers has also absolutely perfected the cooking process. I kid not, these were the most tender, meat slide right off in your mouth, flaky claws I've ever had. 5 Star on these bad boys! Okay, just had to start with that since I ate about 1/2 of my mom's plate of them LOL. Thanks Mom!. As for my dining experience, at the recommendation of my dad I ordered the bowl of Kravers' self -proclaimed "The "BEST" Gumbo Ever". FYI, the bowl was a bit much for me; will opt for the cup next time. No doubt the gumbo was VERY good. "BEST"? I'll have to think about it after I eat it about 10 more times! We also order the Fried Green Tomatoes app and they were phenomenal! I like the way Kravers quarters the slices so they cook more evenly and are more manageable to eat. The roumelade with these is awesome too. For main course I ordered the pick two for $14.99 and opted for the fried snapper and grilled scallops. The scallops were very tender and well flavor, and we'll portioned; about 6, each about an inch thick and inch and half inch in diameter. The fried snapper was well seasoned but was rubbery. In my experience rubbery snapper happens when it's been frozen or cooked improperly. But flavor was great, coleslaw was yummy, hushpuppy and crinkle cut fries were good. I also was able to sample the popcorn shrimp (which is an understatement given their "mature size") and they were delicious as well. The rubbery snapper is one of the main reasons for not giving a 5 star review. That and the waitress forgot my coffee...and forgot that I asked for hot sauce. All-in-all Kravers definitely lived up to the hype. The decor and ambiance itself is open and inviting and is a nice modern day representation of Gulf Coast seafood life. Kravers is just what we needed in West Mobile! This family owned and operated restaurant offers delicious Gulf seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Hubby and I have eaten there several times and have not been disappointed. Start with a yummy cup of Seafood Gumbo! It boasts healthy portions of seafood and is seasoned nicely. On "all you can eat Shrimp night", you can order it fried, steamed or blackened. I have had both the fried (yum) and the steamed (double yum). Last week, we split the seafood platter and brought food home. The portions are very generous, so you will not leave hungry. The oysters were fried perfectly! The platter includes shrimp, fish, stuffed crab, crab claws and oysters over a bed of fries. Oh and their cole slaw is awesome! Desserts are not a big feature. This is a seafood restaurant and most folks are probably too full to even think about ordering cake or pie. They do have a couple of offerings. Insider tip: Beat the wait and eat at the huge bar! The restaurant has a New Orleans type feel to it on the outside. Inside it is definitely a Gulf Coast restaurant. I love the detail of an authentic shrimp boat made into a bar. (We usually eat at this stainless steel wonder.) Full bar with a nice beer and wine selection. The staff is friendly and the owners are onsite. It is busy practically every night and especially on the weekends but the wait is usually not too long. They are closed on Mondays. read more

Okay, this restaurant is near my home, and driving by it I often see that it is apparently doing strong business, so my wife and I decided to bring her parents, visiting from out of the country to dinner. To be honest, although my wife thought it was superb food, I found it to be nothing more than typical south Alabama fried seafood. I felt disappointed because there are at least a dozen other restaurants in the area serving pretty much the same menu. Price wasn't all that good either for uninspiring fried seafood. The waitstaff seemed surly and uninterested in the customers. The crab claws were decent and the catfish good, but as I said, uninspiring. I really have no desire to eat there again, unless my wife insists, but so far she hasn't, so I guess we'll continue driving by as we go to some other establishment with a better menu. read more

Kraver's is just north of Cottage Hill road with easy access and a nice, private parking lot. The interior was clean and new with booths and tables. The menu had your expected fried items on it. I had hoped for something more refined. What we got was good, but while there were grilled options there weren't many. The gumbo was good. There are no real special diet considerations. Dined in on 8/27/23 at the west mobile location. The service from the server was the worst I have had in a long time at a restaurant. Not sure what his problem was. His attitude from the moment we sat down was not good. We ordered two waters, two Yuengling draft beers, two orders of their special, shrimp and grits. It dont get much easier than that for a server, however, I feel like it was more than he could handle. Waters came, then the food, no beers. When I asked about the beer, he stated I did not order beers, he said I ask for lemons, not Yuengling. Those two words are not even close. He was not paying attention to anything. At this point I did decline the beer due to his incompetence. Food was ok this trip, it has been better. Shrimp seemed to be a little off, overcooked maybe but not to bad, a little gritty. Waters were never refilled. Passed by us several times as we were sitting next to the entrance of the kitchen. Even at the end, when it was time to pay, he still had a attitude. I did let James at the front know that we were not happy and why. I hope this is a isolated event. I will go back at some point, however, this gentleman will never have the opportunity to be my server again. read more

We dined at this Kravers location first time. We had dined at Kravers in Daphne several times before and gave it 5 star reviews. We had a party of 4 and we all basically got the same appetizers and entrees. The Seafood Gumbo was the best I have ever had in the Mobile and Baldwin county area restaurants, including any restaurant on the MS Gulf Coast. The Grilled Popcorn Shrimp, Slaw and New Potatoes were absolutely amazingly delicious. Why pay five star prices at a luxury restaurant for lousy overpriced and overrated food, when Kravers Family Restaurant at all locations is superior in food dining offerings and the prices are quite affordable with plenty of food for the price. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and answered all questions about Menu selections. Restaurant staff was equally friendly and hospitable. Restaurant environment was open with plenty of table and booth seating. We will definitely return and bring family and friends. Bravo! read more

An EXTRA charge was never mentioned even though it showed up on the receipt. First time eating and was outstanding. I had the half size shrimp poyboy and it was loaded with shrimp. I think half would be enough for the average person. Bringing shrimp home. This place is a winner. It looks very new but the service was seasoned. The prices were reasonable. We shared the fried green tomatoes with the special sauce. The extra cost for the sauce was worth it. My husband and I split the seafood platter. He enjoyed the fried oysters and I liked the large fried shrimp the best. Our son had the scallops basket and was very happy with it. Our daughter got the fried shrimp poboy. When the waitress delivered it, I told my daughter she should have gotten the half order. The waitress said it was the half size order, it was huge. All the food was fresh and well prepared. We discovered this place on our way to the airport. Not very impressive - fried shrimp aren't completely peeled to the tail and oyster poboy had several rank oysters - had to spit them out because they tasted like crap. When you end up with a pile of shrimp shells you've had to spit out, it's a problem. We won't go back. read more

Very overrated...food was cold and tasteless. Tried it a few years ago and wasn't better than. Decided to give it another try and nothing has changed.
