Here's the breakdown: Prik pow chicken- super safe for those of you that like sweet and sour chicken or General Zao's chicken. Crispy, golden fried perfection! Never disappoints. Curry- Rich, hearty and delicious with well developed flavors that seems like it took hours to prepare. Fried shrimp appetizer- close to Bang Bang shrimp but be sure to ask for extra sauce. A chick can eat this as an entire meal if she isn't SUPER hungry. Pad Basil- crisp veggies, sautéed to perfection in a light delicious sauce with a good serving of rice. Now for the show stopper: TOM KHA SOUP. 10 stars! Just spicy enough to make my nose feel like it MIGHT start to run but then that coconut milk comes through..... man oh man is this stuff crave worthy! Charm Thai kitchen is a family owned restaurant. The staff is very friendly. We had a chance to taste some tasty dishes such as Tom Kah, spring rolls, Prik-Pao chicken, Donkey Roll sushi and Thai donuts. My favorite dish was the Prik-Pao chicken. What a pleasant surprise to find a delicious, authentic Thai restaurant here! I had the Prik Pao chicken, Red Curry, and Tom Kha soup. Everything was packaged with care, including the curry and soup, which were also individually wrapped in bags to make sure there was no leakage from the containers. We ordered the tiger roll, prik pao chicken, and drunk man's noodle (dinner portions) for lunch. The order took about 20 minutes. Tiger roll- tempura shrimp was chewy, fish was not fresh. We didn't eat another piece incase it made us feel unwell. I definitely do not recommend getting sushi here. Prik pao chicken- this was actually quite good. If I were to go here again, this is what I would order. Drunk man's noodle- I asked for medium spicy. However, it wasn't spicy even the slightest bit. Hubby and I decided to try Charm today for the very first time. We arrived just after 1pm for a late lunch and we had the place to ourselves...temporarily! Within 10 minutes other patrons began to arrive to dine in or pick up take out. Our waitress was so gracious and helpful when we let her know that we have not eaten there before. She thanked us for being there (lovely) and answered all of our questions. The lunch specials include spring rolls, soup and entree. Wow, from the first bite of our spring rolls, we knew we were in for a treat. The dipping sauce was perfect with just enough heat to keep it interesting. I had the Tom Kah Soup (coconut) and enjoyed it. I want to try the Tom Yum next time. (Yes we are already planning to go back)! For entrees, Hubby had Pad Broccoli with Beef. The presentation was fantastic and the taste did not disappoint! The Jasmine rice pyramid was delightful to look at and tasted wonderful. I had Pad Thai with Chicken. The seasoning was impeccable and everything was prepared with such attention to detail. The staff was extremely friendly and expressed appreciation for us. The owner stopped by our table and struck up a sweet conversation with my Hubby. Hubby was very complimentary on the skills of the chef (owner's hubby). Moments later, our waitress served us Thai beignets as a thank you. Wow, you don't see that very often. In Louisiana we called that lagniappe! The check arrived and it was around $20. Yes you are reading correctly. We ate a delicious meal with generous servings for about ten dollars each. Please note there is a dinner menu with higher prices, but they are still quite reasonable. Also there is Happy Hour with appetizer specials at 1/2 price and sushi roll specials. They do have a full bar with sake, wine and mixed drinks. Please don't let the outside of this restaurant deter you as it did us for a few years. You will be shocked at how lovely it is inside. It is part of a retail strip on Schillinger near Hitt Rd. Additional parking is available in the back. There is an outdoor patio for spring and fall dining. It is the best Thai food that I have had in Mobile! read more
