Went for ice cream and I ordered a brownie sundae and my husband a scoop of ice cream. After a short car ride my sundae and his ice cream were a complete soupy mess. The guy who took our order- Dave- mentioned that one flavor of ice cream was "soft" so we didn't choose that kind, not that it mattered. If you have read my other reviews, you will see that I tend to be very positive in my responses. For the most part I have been very happy with the restaurants that I've been to, based on the recommendations of others. However tonight was an exception. I have been to Krazy Jake's before a few times. The past experiences have been good. Tonight however was much different. I ordered their seafood chowder which was absolutely disgusting. I asked the waiter to take it away. At the end of the meal we were given the bill and it was still on it. The soup was absolutely just disgusting. We also ordered sundaes for dessert. When my sundae arrived the ice cream was pretty much all melted and I had asked for peanut butter sauce and there was none. When I asked for the manager he came over and he did take off the soup from the bill. However when I asked him about the Ice cream he basically said the peanut butter is mixed in with the ice cream and pretty much dismissed anything I said ( the ice cream was supposed to have peanut butter, because the ice cream was peanut butter cup ) but I ask for a peanut butter sauce on top. There was none.He made me feel stupid. I absolutely will never go there again, and it's sad because of the fact that I have friends who have friends that work there, but I will not step foot in that place ever again. The bill was high and for the money you get poor quality. I do hope that the manager that was working tonight reads this and realize that I was serious and he should've taken me a little bit more seriously as well. Do not waste your money here. read more

Went there, Monday for prime rib special. It was quite chilly and we waited a long time for our meal. We both ordered medium. When it came, the meat had a brown tint. We both said it was over done and sent it back. Shortly thereafter, this lady shows up with the same plates, to argue with us that they were medium and that is how Jakes cooks medium prime rib! I I informed her that maybe it was pink before it sat under the salamander for a long time but I wasn't eating it ! She snottily stayed that our other option was med. rare ! I refused but my friend went with that option, yuk ! I would have left , at that point but in deference to my friend, ordered Mac and cheese. The steak knife that accompanied the meat was dull, causing her to hack at it with great difficulty! The snotty woman is apparently the manager, I will NOT be back ! read more

This place has lots of potential. Onion rings are great. Done there in house and come out very well. The fries are double fried which anyone who isn't doing it this way is a fool. They would have been great had they not been cold. The fish was a good sized piece and was fresh so it would have been great had it not been overfried(the coating was light black)making it chewy on the thin end and then it must've sat in the window cause it was lukewarm too. Not as cool as the fries but not hot like I want it. The prices make it good. The wait staff lacks a little desire as out asked things as she walked by and making it hard to hear her sometimes. She also never came over to check on us or get drink refills so we had to flag her down all the time and even then she would take our request on her way by never really stopping. It wasn't even that busy. A hand full of tables and 2-3 servers. I would go back for the fish and chips again other than that not sure. read more

Seafood spots are very hard to come by in the immediate area, but Krazy Jakes is an exception. Jakes has a VERY good fried haddock, get that with the onion rings and life is good. I also recommend the burgers and the HANDCUT fries. Jakes may not look like much but don't let that fool you. The only drawback is that occasionally the service is not up to par. In particular there is an older waitress that is HORRIBLE. It may sound mean but she is the reason that several of my family members refuse to return. I have never tried the ice-cream or the breakfast so I can't speak on that. Though Jakes does appear to do good business in both those areas. read more

I had heard this place had REALLY good burgers.....the people that told me were 100% correct. The black angus mushroom swiss burger was great. The batter on the onion rings was light and crispy. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty good. My husband let me have one of his clam fritters. They were light and fluffy. The clam chowder was thick and chuncky. Our server was prompt and thorough. Wilbraham peeps: so excuse the first-world problem rant, but avoid Krazy Jake's. Wednesday Jul 17th 7:30 pm-ish we went (family of 4). Sat at the (un air-conditioned) counter, and we sat for over 25 minutes with no acknowledgement. No sale from us. It wasn't really the heat or the long wait so much as the fact that we didn't get as much as a hello (or a grunt or a gesture, even). I don't normally give negative feedback, but I am making an exception in this case. I posted the same thing on foursquare, hopefully the powers that be will see the time and date and will address what needs to be addressed. read more

tthis is a place i would stay away from. Upon arriving at jakes my wife and i were not greeted for around 5 minutes, but there were alot of staff standing around, when we were sat we placed our drink orders and waited 10 minutes for the drinks (it was not busy at the time), when the waitress made her way back we placed our orders, started with the clam chowder which my wife had and i had the lobster bisque, they were aweful, you could tell they were rite out of a can. for entree my wife had a baked scrod that was full of butter and way over cooked that went with the frozen vegetables, i had a burger, ordered medium rare with the hand cut fries, the burger was served well done, with cold soggy grease drenched fries. I took my family out for lunch at this location and it was such a great experience. Amanda was our waitress and she was on the ball. She had sodas ready before we could ask. The whole staff at this location is amazing. Guest service is amazing here. The food is great here. We ordered a variety of things like the mozz sticks,nachos, Reuben sandwiches, and burgers. I have been to krazy jakes many times but on a recent visit, my family and I had an awful experience. The food we ordered was ok, nothing special but reasonably priced. The problems came later when we all became EXTREMELY sick from the food; my grandmother was sick for two days!!! I encouraged her to call and speak to the manager when feeling better as we had all shared an order of onion rings that was the probable culprit. To our surprise the manager was dismissive and unsympathetic. He refused to take any responsibility and was actually rude. I am more than disappointed in the restaurant's poor attitude about making regular customers sick from their mishandling of the food they serve. We just had some lunch with friends and their kids at Krazy Jake's today. We were seated right away. We ordered boneless Buffalo wings, fries & onion rings along with salads. The biggest complaint that we all had is that the "honey mustard" that they advertise is NOT honey mustard. It's basically dijon mustard in a cup. It's super thick and has absolutely ZERO honey flavoring. The mustard seeds overwhelm your palate and is NOT good on a Chefs Salad. We ended up having to switch over to Parmasean Peppercorn dressing. The hand cut French fries were delicious! For the boneless wings we ordered Garlic Parmasean. Again we were disappointed. Typically garlic Parmasean is a dry rub. The wings came out with hot sauce and BARELY any Parmasean on it. I couldn't taste any garlic either. The last time I ate here I had a burger and it was pretty tasty. They really don't even deserve the one star, but that's as low as it will go. This place absolutely sucks. Went in today for 2 hot dogs. Took them 45 minutes to make them. 45 MINUTES FOR 2 HOT DOGS!? Absolutely ridiculous. Their over priced food isn't even worth waiting for. $15 for 2 hot dogs is ridiculous especially when they make you wait 45 minutes for them. There was at least 3 cooks back there, 2 girls, and some old guy. No way my order should have taken 45 minutes. I know someone that used to work there and the owner just doesn't care who he has working there, what the employees do, or how they treat the customers. There mostly all young kids that have no idea what they're doing and can't be bothered to teach them. I will never come back here, and anyone who tells me there gonna go there I'll advise them not to. The gross over priced food you gotta wait 45 Minutes for definitely isn't worth it. Last evening with my wife and another couple, we decided to try this restaurant. We were seated tight away on a Saturday night. The waiter "Ben" was at our table in a nano-second. We told him that this was our first visit and he then told us which dishes were the top choices. I went with the haddock & chips which came with a HUGE order of hand cut fries and a small serving of coleslaw. The dinner was only $ 12! What a score . Plus the haddock was fresh not frozen. My wife had an 8 oz. angus burger. You can custom order it with choice of bread & numerous condiments. She loved it. That was only $ 8.50 The fancy burger places charge $ 12- $ 14 for an equivalent burger. I wish that we had saved room for desert because a lot of other patrons had delicious looking Sunday's. Next time. One of the things that I really liked about the wait staff was when you order was ready it was immediately brought to your table by the next available server. Not necessarily the waiter that took your order. Excellent management trained the servers well. Forget the negative reviews that you may see posted. There are all kinds of people and there are two sides to every story. I read one review that said that the salad was very small and not very good. My friend had a salad with dinner and it not only was prepared well but was a good size one. Another review said that they ordered onion rings and the portion was small. My wife order them with her burger and the plate was so filled with them that I had to help her finish. They were excellent by the way. read more

This place rocks! For starters, it is the place of it's kind around here that lets you get a basic burger fries/onion rings AND serves alcohol! Other full service places obviously do but there is a nice casual atmosphere here that fits a relaxed mood. The food is always very tasty and we have always had great service! When it's busy, one might have to wait a little longer than usual - that is how restaurants work and I love seeing this place busy! Went here on a Mon. morning around 9:30 ish. there werent too many people. our waitress was VERY minimal and barely spoke to us. Bad cup of black coffee- it tasted like peanuts. i got corn beef hash and one scrambled egg (i wasnt too hungry) it was alright, it came with a large portion of potatoes. the food is cheap. the corned beef "hash" was just shredded corned beef on one side of the plate.... and thats it. i enjoyed it though cause i love corned beef. read more

For most part love this place but do not go there at shift changeover time. I had a recent experience where I was in there around 3pm, shift change time. Sat at counter. Waitstaff came by quickly and asked if I was ready to order and I responded I needed a minute. Big mistake. She disappeared for quite some time when I finally approached the manager, who was within my view counting cash drawer and talking with various coming & going employees, and asked if I could order? A waitstaff person talking with manager immediately came to counter and took my order. She then left the building. I continue to wait and watched as my order was prepared and sat under warmer till someone finally got around to delivering it. It was much more than a couple minutes. My original waitstaff came by and apologized for getting distracted and that was ok but the manager was just feet away from means he was oblivious I still had to catch someone to get my check, yet another challenge part of the aggravation was that it was not busy, the staff was just not on top of it and the manager was negligent read more

First time there, was in the mood for a burger, had heard they make me decent. Best thing I can say is at least now I know- to never go back, at least not for a burger. With Red Robin just down the road, this place should be stepping up their game, but instead, they make you understand why chains like Red Robin can put a local place out of business. I'm really shocked after trying this tonight, especially where most recent reviews have been positive. We ordered several hours ahead with everything already paid for. Arrived after the supposed pickup time, however waited an extra half hour- they were busy. (Despite ordering ahead) I got the haddock plate with onion rings- which were really bland. Haddock was great, coleslaw was warm and wilted on the side as it was placed in the container on the hot fish. (I'm pregnant so I chose not to even eat it). My child had the kids hotdog which he refused to eat (and he's not exactly picky). Fries were a hit for him. My husband enjoyed his burger, but wasn't pleased with the soggy fries he received and the hotdog was a bit over cooked for his liking. I finished our orders with fried dough, which was great around the edges but inedible and hard in the middle. After spending 50$ here on this, I'll have to say we won't be returning. Very disappointed as it came very recommended and we have a friend who is an employee. read more

Been to jakes 4 times. 1st three give 4 stars. This time 2 stars. It was like it was under new poor management. 4 of us for dinner. Prime rib good, baked beans cool to cold, hand cut fries with sea salt over cooked badly and no sea salt, one cole slaw in a ceramic cup another in. Small plastic cup, same meal. Shrimp in casserole type dish, some shrimp discolored and inedible looking, calimari appitizer, I think was 7.00 had a total of 10 pieces. It was on a small plate and still looked skimpy. It was cooked correctly. Ordered 2 hot fudge sundaes One soft and one hard ice cream. Hard ice cream had 5 hard pieces of ice and was served in a sundae glass which looked large but inside was very narrow which wouldn't hold a scoop. Soft serve ice cream came in a styrofoam cup and a plastic spoon, fine if it is to go but not at a sit down table. Wait service was tedious. General impression of waitress was very non-attentive, came by once at the end of our meal, empty dishes had sat on table 16 minutes, and asked if we wanted desert. Asked for Ice cream menu, waited 7 minutes, finally went to register and got my own. My wife and I were embarassed as we convinced our friends to go there over their restaurant and subjected them and our credibility to a travesty. As a seafood lover I ordered clam chowder (excellent) fried shrimp and scallops (excellent) and baked scallops also excellent.The onions rings were a pleasant surprise. I did not try the clam cakes (clam fritters) but will next time, very few places in the area offer them.Great service overall I'm a happy camper. read more

I don't know why more people aren't talking about this restaurant. Their hamburger is the best I've ever tasted, the french fries and onion rings are great, and their lava cake was delicious. The prices are very reasonable, and there's a full menu of alcoholic beverages (which I wouldn't expect from such a casual place). I plan to come here many, many more times. read more

Food is great, but service is sometimes spotty. For example, our last lunch on a weekday took an hour and a half, waiting for over half hour for our food etc. On the plus side, if you're not in a rush, it's worth the wait. Also, that wait was atypical (say 10-20% of the time) usually I would say they are akin to most sit down chain restaurants. Burgers are great (I am a REALLY picky burger person, I get the small 3oz & seems like 4oz at least, very generous portions), seafood good according to my family and an ever changing roster of specials. Hand cut fries, sweet potato or regular fries. Known as an ice cream stand as well. Premium New England ice cream from a local dairy w fab flavors, moose trax, cotton candy, cookie batter etc. Hard & soft serve. Extensive menu B,L, & Dinner, something for everyone, everything always fresh/good (live lobsters in the tank). Typical New England roadside stand that was so successful, they've expanded with a newly opened cafe/full bar side. A popular place in town. In the summer, serves as a drive in for sports teams to come get ice cream at the window. We have several chains in town, but usually end up going here instead. Local, casual & fresh; just be prepared in case of a wait, popular w locals. Go! read more

I had a girls end of the year soccer party at Jake's over the summer. I gave the restaurant the kids choices ahead of time. Most of the parents also came and ordered food. Not only did the food come all together, hot and correct for the kids, but all the parents ordered food and it was delivered fast. There was also a large amount of food for the price. The food was excellent and I plan on having further end of the year parties there again. I will also be visiting with my family when we go out to eat. read more
