Had a stripped lug nut and couldn't get my tire off. Said his computer said would need a hub at $130. I knew this wasn't true because I had changed a stud before on my car. Quoted $130 to get my tire off and install 3 new studs. I was in a bind so I agreed. The bill ended up at $240 and he said the had to charge and additional $64 because the tire was hard to get off! Took my car in, because the battery was dead. They said they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They said they did all these computer tests and checks, and told me they did this because my battery is only a year old. The battery is actually five years old, and it was dead. They ran a battery check (finally) and discovered it was dead. It cost a lot of money to replace the thing. Outrageous. read more

My tire was leaking fast from its valve stem, and I didn't know if I would make it home. I had business at St Eds University on South Congress, and as it was rush hour I didn't want to be changing a flat. So, I saw Kremko tucked away next to Habana, across from St Eds, and drove in. Rey was friendly, and said that while he didn't do tires he'd look at it for me. I told him I appreciated it, and asked him to please do an oil change and update my Texas inspection sticker too. I returned just under an hour later and my car was sitting there finished. Price was cheap, everything was completed as expected, and Rey mentioned some other things he noticed with my car - a strange noise that had been annoying me for a long time. I mumbled what the dealer told me it was, and he explained why it couldn't possibly be that. I think I'll be bringing my car back to KREMKO for Rey to verify and fix that problem. I do like locally-owned shops, where the owner is greeting you, is personable, and is making sure you leave happy. And since it's right on South Congress it's pretty convenient. I'd say stop in and see him, if you want to get away from the giant chain shops that will fleece you for every possible penny, and support a businessman who's putting his own reputation on the line. read more

Took it in for an inspection despite a friend telling me not to go here. They kept my car for 2 days and charged me $430...to fix the horn. I'm here to pick it up right now and I've been waiting for about 15 minutes and the lady behind the counter hasn't even acknowledged me or said anything to the tune of "I'll be with in just a moment." There's a guy who did keep me updated on the status of my car and he was pretty polite. That's all I've got good to say. This place rips you off. Update! The manager Ray called me to let me know that one of his employees accidentally charged me an extra hour of labor and he refunded me the $87. I thought that was an honorable thing to do so I gave them an extra star or whatever. read more

The service manager and staff were great, but the person (lady) who was checking in people had no clue on what was going on and was making people (myself included) upset and mad. Tried to take my car here for repair three times and was told by the same guy that they were too busy to get to me, but funny that on two occasions, they were getting to hispanic customers who got there after I did. I figured I would try one more time and arrived as they suggested at 9 am when they first opened, and surprise...they couldn't get to me again, had me wait , then only to tell me that there machine was down and i should go somewhere else. Here's the truth...I am a 55 year old proud member of the LGBTQ community and was targeted by this man who apparently did not treat me correctly because of my lifestyle or my race. I took in my vehicle today, it was overheating, explained to the person at the Counter David what the symptoms my vehicle had, he said they would need to complete a diagnosed test. to see exactly what the problem was he assured me it would just take a few minutes, I was offered coffee, the other lady there Angie very sweet, also reassured me it would not take long as I was in a hurry to leave for work . The result came back very quickly the estimate was fair. I agreed to have my vehicle repaired I was offered a ride to work as I worked in the area, My vehicle was ready the same day actually in a few hours . David called said my car was ready and never tried to sell or add other parts that I didn't need. I picked up my vehicle shortly after 5:00 as they close at 5:00 they waited for me I thought that was nice and to my much pleasant surprise my sale amount was less than what was Quoted to me earlier awesome!! David Drove the car in front of the shop for me . I noticed the check engine light was on and he gladly reset it for me . KREMKO is a small mom and pops family oriented place and in my opinion has great customer service!! I will post again in a few weeks/months to let you know if my vehicle is still running great! I found it ironic that a business who touts itself as "building your trust with every turn" charged me THREE TIMES what every other automotive business in town charges to repair a flat tire. THIRTY DOLLARS? Seriously? I guess if you roll up with a flat, you're going to pay whatever it is they charge. You're stranded...and they know it. Where I'm from though, this sort of business practice is regarded as taking advantage of people... not "building trust". I should add that there were only 2 other vehicles in the shop at the time and at least 3-4 mechanics "on duty". Still, it took them over an hour to charge me $30 for a rubber tire plug. Every time I take my car somewhere for an inspection it seems like the places are either very busy or their machine is broken or always some other inconvenience. That certainly was not the case this time. It was obvious this was a popular place just by the looks of the cars everywhere. Bryanna was behind the desk and greeted me very politely and professionally. She gave me the paperwork and instructions and said that the inspection would be done shortly. I was somewhat surprised when I found out she would be the one doing the inspection. After all was said and done I was quite sure that Brianna was someone who would be irreplaceable at this business. I had my driver side headlight not working correctly. The low beam would not work but the high beam would work. I had to get my inspection sticker renewed and could not drive without the headlight not working. I went to Autozone to change the bulb and it didnt work..The Autozone guy said there is a mechanic right next block who can check it for me called kremko automotive. The owner Rey was very forthcoming initially but he took advantage of the situation by asking for a fee even before touching the light. I initially thought I was probably in the right place but these small time mechanics will not do what it takes as they dont have the experience and knowledge needed. He gave me a wrong diagnostic and asked me to go and buy a headlight assembly which he "THOUGHT" was not working right. I went and bought one and still not working.. I came back to him saying ok that didnt work now what??? He started arguing with me saying I have to pay him another diagnostic fee to check out why it didnt work. I felt so guilty to have even taken my car to such a small time mechanic.. I did not trust him as he didnt know any of what he was doing and drove my car to a lambs automotive near my house and let them check it out with experienced professional...Sometimes its better to pay a little higher and let the experts check your car instead of wasting money on these small time mechanics. They figured the assembly was perfectly alright...It was the relay that was giving the issue. They fixed it and also did my inspection sticker and it took them hardly a few hours to get my car back on road.. read more

Went to have brakes looked at walked away without a car. I came because my brakes were making noise and I just wanted them to look at the car. They decided to test drive it and now the car is not drivable. Not to mention they refuse to accept any responsibility for the issue, claiming "it's a coincidence" and "happens all the time". I don't know about you guys but that is NOT something that should be happening all the time. I asked them for their insurance to settle the dispute with our companies and they refuse to even give me the name of their insurance company. Beware of this place. I was driving down Congress and noticed the oil chage sign, figured I stop by and get my truck serviced. They told me it was about a 20-30 minute wait. When they pulled my truck in they shortly came back to inform me that my inspection sticker was out; I recently had my vehicle inspected two days prior and it failed for my "OBD connector not communicating with the machine" and the other shop was going to charge me the inspection and a diagnostics fee of 95.00 to figure out why. I explained this to the guys at Kremko and they stated that they could do a free basic check because the most likely cause could just be a blown fuse. I immediately agreed since coincidently my phone charger was not working either. They came back two minutes later and showed me two blown fuses. They checked my OBD connection and found no further problems, they told me to take it back to the other shop for a free reinspection but I declined and asked them to go ahead and inspect my truck. Personaly; I would much rather support HONESTY and INTEGRITY. read more

I was recently referred to them after I complained about how expensive a quote from my dealership was. The dealership quoted me $1011 for various repairs and after Kremko made all the repairs and handled my inspection, my bill came to $590! Kremko promised that all the work would be completed by lunch and I got the phone call that my car was ready at 12:34pm. I will refer these folks to anyone. Such an awesome experience! read more

Last year I went to the Kremko location across from Hill's Cafe for my vehicle inspection. They had some issues with their computer reading the computer in my truck and they wound up sending me up Congress to their other site a bit closer to the HEB near Oltorf. That machine worked just fine, so this year I thought to just go straight to that location. Unfortunately that location is no longer Kremko and that garage that doesn't do inspections. So I went back to the location across from Hill's Cafe. I spoke to the lady behind the counter. She had two waiting ahead of me. I explained the problem their computer had the year before and asked if the machine was the one that didn't work for me or if it had been changed out. She told me "I don't know." I asked, "Is there anyone that can tell you if it has been changed? Response, a rather short, "No". "There's no one around that knows anything about that machine?" "There's no one. It's never given me any problems." All told in a crappy, 'I have no use for you' attitude, and making it clear that she could not be bothered to ask anyone.' I'm sorry but I have absolutely no use for someone who doesn't care to give decent customer service. I don't want to wait around for the 45 minutes to an hour that it would take for the two ahead of me to get their inspections and then find out that my vehicle won't communicate with their machine. Rude and unprofessional at Kremco. I paid them to do a Diagnostic test on my car. I was told that the Diagnostic fee could be applied to the cost of the repair of my car. I was given the wrong Diagnostic. I went to a different and more reputable place and paid for a second Diagnostic which confirmed that Kremco's Diagnostic was wrong as I suspected. The other place, with the correct Diagnostic fixed my car in a timely manner and were much more professional. I think the man at Kremco who was so rude was named Ray. read more

I've been to many auto repair shops in this area and this is one of the best! I've taken my car here several times now and I'm very pleased with it. Everyone here is friendly and honest. The wait can be long in the afternoons but this is the case anywhere you go. It's much faster in the morning. When my tire pressure light came on and I couldn't find my gauge anywhere, I stopped by on my way to work in the morning and they checked and filled it for me fast and free. Very nice! I also feel like they've always been honest in their evaluations of my car. Never once have I felt skeptical of their analysis, unlike some other shops nearby that I felt were trying to rip me off. read more

Fuck this place. A mechanic that I hired couldn't figure out the problem to my car so he took it to this shop. They did the diagnosis and wanted to charge more for computer work to figure out what the problem was but my dad denied that request (because at this point I had already decided to go to another repair shop that another friend recommended) so it sat there for two days because Sunday they were closed. The original mechanic who took the car in, drove my car back to my house to drop it off (so I can take it to another repair shop) AND NOW MY AC DIDNT WORK. I didn't have time to take it back to KREMKO as I already made arrangements at another repair shop. So once my car was fixed for the initial problem at another shop, we tried asking KREMKO what happened to the AC and they refused to see the car without a fee!! UM EXCUSE ME?! MY AC "HAPPENED" TO GO OUT AFTER YOU LOOKED AT IT TO BEGIN WITH. I have a feeling since we denied their service, they fucked up my car and the fact that they don't even want to try to look at it or investigate the problem is so rude of them. So now I have to pay a shit load of money to ANOTHER mechanic to fix the AC when it was working perfectly fine before my car was in KREMKOS hands. Never recommending this place. read more

I went in to replace a wheel bearing on my car after a couple of hours they said they fixed it on the way home i kept hearing this popping noise like it sounded like metal popcorn or something i could not take it back that day so i took it the next day and the jerk that was there said to bring it back when he was" not busy". What kind of customer service is that? So basically I went to replace the wheel bearing and came out worse. I think the only thing these guys are good at doing is oil changes. read more
