The RANCID oil smell started when we were still outside the building. We should have turned around and walked back to the car. Since we had promised a group that we'd bring two dozen Krispy Kremes, we were stuck. The clerk didn't know how to scan the code from the ap on my phone. She managed to get us the BOGO price by entering our phone number instead. When we got back to the office and opened the boxes, the doughnuts tasted as rancid as the oil smelled. We made a stop today at the West Allis location because it was "Talk or Dress Like a Pirate Day? You could either talk like a pirate for one donut or dress like a pirate and get a free dozen glazed donuts. We did the later. There is nothing like a hot glazed donut. it's so soft and the glaze is perfect. It's also pretty neat to watch the assembly line process. Where do I begin? Only the drive thru is open so the lines are long and slow. And when you order, it sounds like the person operating the drive thru has no idea how the menu works. If you ask for an original glazed donut, the most basic donut they sell, they have no idea what you're talking about. If you ask for a half of a dozen of them, they'll give you a random assortment and you're out of luck, even if you ask for a receipt. Half the donuts look god awful and kinda stale. If you order from here, make sure to repeat yourself multiple times and then open the box of donuts in front of them to check that they gave you the right order. This will work the best, and it'll only work 60% of the time. Maybe go to dunkin instead? They have messed up my order every single time I've gone. I once ordered three donuts and they only gave me two and only one of the donuts was one I actually ordered. read more

The staff at this Krispy Kreme donut shop are the best!!! They were so kind and patient with my kids as they each very slowly picked out their donuts. My kids were so mesmerized by seeing how the donuts were made and they even offered them warm and delicious samples. It was a beautiful and special visit for myself and my family. Last few times I've visited I've been very disappointed. They have a very few selection, literally they only had glazed, strawberry and chocolate sprinkled donuts...that's it! They never have any of the specialty donuts they promote! There were more donuts on the floor than on the trays to sell. I'd have to say that I'm a happy camper after getting my fresh original glazed donut with the hot light on! It was my second visit since this summer (the previous visit was during the day without the hot light!) after living in Chicago for two years, where KK wasn't as easily accessible as it was when I lived in Orange County, Calif. I'm happy today! It didn't hurt that KK had the promotion if you bought 2 dozens for $13 since it was Friday the 13th! The media hype is spot on, this chain is certainly going downhill fast. I grabbed a dozen donuts for an early morning gathering a few days ago, the donuts had an unusual brown discoloration & tasted of old used fry oil. Now, Glazed & Sour Cream Old Fashion donuts shouldn't have a brown hue when fried in somewhat fresh oil. I'm sure KK has reduced the frequency between oil changes. Plus, the donuts were skimpy in size compared to previous visits. I've heard business was bad for Krispy Kreme, but cutting corners isn't going to make things any better. It will just get the doors shut quicker & permanently. Three cars in front of me at the drive-thru & it took 14 minutes before I was able to pull up to the service window. Then, the cashier asks " What was your order?" Krispy Kreme is krispy crittered in my book, I won't be coming back. Too many other better alternatives out there. Service & product suck! It's a work tradition for us to bring in a "treat" on our birthday. For mine, I chose Krispy Kreme, and drove an hour out of my way to grab a dozen originals at this store. SO worth it. Hot donuts straight off the line, friendly staff, quick service... I especially appreciate the "Baker's Dozen" - They give you 12 in the box, and one in some Deli paper so you can "sample" it then and there, or once you're back on the road. Fresh, hot ORIGINAL GLAZED DONUTS. This is all you need. And once you have it, it'll be all you want. Call to ask in when they make their donuts fresh, so you can them when they are best. I sent my husband in for a dozen glazed and a dozen pumpkin spice. He came home with one dozen crullers. He went back and they screwed it up again - instead of pumpkin spice we got a dozen overcooked glazed. I'm not even going to tell him - there's no point in trying to remedy this because clearly they have braindead, uncaring staff working the counter. It's been about 3-4 weeks since they made any fresh donuts as far as I can tell (from google reviews). One month ago is the last time anyone commented about watching them make fresh donuts. Anyway, I stopped yesterday at about 6:40am and they weren't open. There were two guys inside acting like they were working on the machinery (I say acting because I'm pretty sure now that's what they were doing, I'll come back to that.) No signs on the door, nothing really telling why they were closed (They open at 6:00.) I wrote it off to broken machines. I went back this morning and they were open but they were not making donuts. There were big green boxes holding what I'm sure was a delivery of donuts from elsewhere. My guess is yesterday their delivery was late so they just locked the doors and pretended they were working on the machines, rather than just maybe putting a sign on the door. Weird, but ok. They do not have any cake donuts, only various forms of original glazed and filled glazed. And nothing hot, or fresh going on. I give 3 stars because I actually got good customer service. I don't know what the guys name was, his nametag was illegible, but he was very nice and probably in a pretty tough spot, so they get a 3 only for his smiling face this morning. My theory is this location will close soon. They certainly can't expect to continue to function this way much longer.... I know I won't be back any time soon. There are too many other really excellent donut shops in West Allis to waste your time and money on shipped in, day old donuts. read more
