Whoa... I am not sure how to respond to the negative reviews for Dr. Walker's office but my experiences have been nothing short of great and caring. I reached out to Dr. Walker due to my acne. It's been something I've been battling with since I was an adolescent and I was dealing with a flare up. Dr. Walker's office was great in setting up appointments for me. In addition, it was great that she handled telemedicine so I could take the meetings right from my home. She prescribed the right Rx treatment for me. And honestly, as a doctor who is a person of color and the AAPI community, it felt really great that she understood my needs and had expertise on the impacts of the treatment to my skin. I felt seen! I don't want to discount the other negative reviews but this is certainly not the experience that I've had. read more

I was a long term patient of Dr. Walker and want to warn others. Dr. Walker does not respect patient privacy. Recently, I had a sensitive matter to discuss that involved one of her staff members, hand delivered in a letter marked "Private." I wanted to protect the privacy and feelings of that staff member. So I hand delivered a letter marked "Private," to ensure there was no email that might accidentally be seen or shared. Dr Walker read the letter marked "Private". Did she keep the letter private? No. She not only violated my request for privacy, she shared it with the very same person mentioned in the letter. Did she reply to my hand delivered letter? No. Not only did she not call or write back. She had the very same person mentioned in the letter reply on her behalf. Is there some chance the staff member did not know the exact message written in my private letter? Nope. This poor staff person (and I) had the immensely uncomfortable and unnecessary experience of discussing what I had said. What I had said privately to Dr. Walker (what I had specifically shared privately, to avoid hurting this person's feelings) It was a terrible situation for us to be placed in, created by Dr Walker not only sharing a letter marked private, not only sharing it with the person mentioned in the letter, but then having that person reply on her behalf. This was an incredible breach of trust (what could be more clear than a hand delivered letter boldly marked "Private?"), along with a lack of tact, decorum or basic consideration for the staff member (and me). There is no scenario in which this staff member should have known about my letter, or been tasked with calling me. My trust was violated 100%, and this poor staff member was placed in a thoroughly unfair and uncalled for spot. Awful. Be warned. read more

I have taken my elderly mother to see Dr. Walker 2x and have had an excellent experience both times. The office staff is efficient and friendly. Dr. Walker is was great with Mom, slowed down to Moms pace. Office is great location and good parking. read more

I went to see this doctor about two different problems. She walked into the office like she was in a hurry. She told me she was not going to discuss one if the two problems. About the other one, I later discovered there were three different possible treatments. After she left two really ugly scars on my skin, I did some research and realized she used the treatment that is usually considered a last resort. She cut my skin so fast, so carelessly that she left these scars. Right after, she left the office. My visit with her did, including treatment, did not last more than five minutes. She never discussed treatments or even asked me if I wanted to proceed with her treatment if choice. Before I knew it she had already cut me and left the office. It is very traumatic as she left scars unnecessarily and felt violated having never given my consent for any treatment. Awful experience. read more

This is my second visit with Dr. Walker, one 4 years ago and one now. The experience for both has been the same, that being excellent. I called two weeks ago and got an appointment with no problem. The office is easy to get to from Oakland, with lots of parking. Office person is friendly, nice, and efficient. Both on the phone and in person. Two assistants who took notes and prepped my hand were also both very courteous and good. Dr. Walker herself is nice, professional, and did exactly what was needed. I went in for a skin exam, and had a worrisome spot on my hand. She examined me for any other potential cancer areas, then one of the aforementioned assistants numbed me up and Dr. Walker scraped off the discolored area for a biopsy. I asked for sunscreen recommendations, and she mentioned several over the counter products. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about, I will return next year for a more timely cancer screen. If it were possible, I would give a negative star. I don't know why she even has awards or plaques posted on her walls. One of the worst doctors I have ever encountered. I went in on a referral for three conditions. She only wanted to talk about one of them and point-blank said, "We aren't going to talk about the others." Then why bother being a doctor if you aren't even going to treat your patients' medical issues?! (maybe so that I'd have to book another appointment with her, bringing in more revenue?) Snobby, arrogant, please don't waste your time and money with her! Plus she has bad bedside manner. The only saving grace is the Asian physician's assistant. However, there's another physician's assistant who's pretty terrible too. I'm not sure how she passed through school because I had to explain to her what a follicle is. I also had to tell her the generic names for a few medications-- isn't she supposed to know? Find another dermatologist. read more

My family and I have been Dr. Walker's patients for many years. It's a visit I always look forward to. Dr. Walker is very pleasant, efficient, and thorough, answering any skin care questions I have kindly and professionally. I've had several procedures to remove suspicious growths, and follow-through on any skin biopsies is always delivered promptly via a phone call. In addition, Dr. Walker's assistants and her front office staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Further, I've never had to wait beyond my appointment time to be seen by Dr. Walker, and scheduling appointments to see her is a seamless process. Awful doctor and office manager! In November 2017, my high school daughter had a small cyst measured 0.9x0.8 cm removed (excision) from her elbow by Dr. Walker. As one can see from the photo, the excision was poorly done and stitched together. At the consultation, we were promised that the cyst removal would result in a line scar that would blend in with the lines on the elbow, however, due to Dr. Walker's incompetence and negligence, six months later, the wound healed into a big scar that is raised, dark, ugly, scary looking and 1.5 inch wide. On the day of the stitch removal, Dr. Walker did not even check on her wound after the stitches were removed by her assistant. We went back to our physician who referred us to Dr. Walker's office, and she referred us to a plastic surgeon. Our physician said that the scar likely resulted from stitches not being left in long enough before removal. We are now getting laser treatment from that plastic surgeon in attempt to improve its appearance. Our experience with Dr. Walker was horrible and has caused my daughter a great deal of stress and suffering, as this ugly scar is now a permanent part of her body. I am sad and devastated every time I see the scar on my daughter's elbow. I absolutely refuse to pay the bill for the cyst removal. In addition I demand Dr. Walker to pay for my daughter's laser treatment and other related medical expenses. I have been trying to contact Dr. Walker, but she refused to return my phone calls. Just: wow. I came to write a very negative review after experiencing quite possibly the worst customer service I've encountered outside of a used car dealership. And then I see that this office has an average of 1 star with 16 reviews - so I don't think my negative review will affect anything. But here goes anyway. The doctor was fine, but the front office staff was a total nightmare. I saw her after a referral from my ob/gyn. After two visits, which left me with scars on my legs and back and turned out to be unnecessary (better safe than sorry, but still! was it really necessary?) I got socked with a big bill. I tried to reach the office to discuss it, as it was more than I had expected with my insurance. Fast forward 4 months -- i have been unable to get a phone call back after repeated tries. I got one email back saying the office manager was on medical leave, and another saying she'd "be in touch next week". Nope. I sent a partial payment in, which didn't get cashed. Finally, I decided to pay the bill in full just to get this horrible office out of my life. I called with my credit card, got put on hold and no one picked up. After 15 minutes I abandoned. Meanwhile I continue to get threatening notes demanding I call their office to arrange payment. That's what I'm trying to do! Nightmare. Avoid at all costs. read more

Both my son and I visited this office several times. They are horribly mismanaged and it is nearly impossible to get an appointment with the actual doctor. We were never seen right away, usually waiting at least 20 minutes in the waiting room for each visit. The last time I took my son in for a skin test, the two kits they had on hand were both expired. This type of appointment required me making a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday appointment for that week. They asked me to change them to a week when they would have current kits in stock and I decided that was the final straw for me and this office. Their location was more convenient, but I never felt well taken care of or that I received good advice. read more

I had a polyp (growth) removed from my upper cheek. The P.A. who worked on me made a critical error (as I understand it now) with 1- cutting too much with the scalpel and- 2- the cauterizing process. This lead to a divot on my face that left me with a scar. I considered legal action-however, I am no model- so recourse would be insignificant. For any procedures other than -cosmetic (Juv, Botox, etc) this might be OK. But I'd stay away from them for more invasive work. Caveat Emptor. read more

My daughter saw the nurse practitioner. She injected steroids into her leg where a eczema-like rash had been for quite a long time. She used too much, and now my daughter has several dark areas which we were told would disappear in about a year. It has been a year and she still has them and fear that she will have this for the rest of her life. When I went, they seems more interested in selling me high priced laser treatments than helping figure what was going on with my skin. read more

I can't remember exactly how or why I stumbled across Dr. Walker's Yelp page and started reading the reviews, but it was kind of surreal to read all of the negative comments. I've been her patient since 2007 when I was referred to have a suspicious mole checked out. It turned out to be a melanoma, and then there were others, and since then I've visited her office over a dozen times. Each time I have found both her and the office to be professional, efficient, and friendly enough that I keep traveling through the tunnel to get there, even though I'd prefer to stay in Oakland. I've seen Dr. Walker for 3 melanoma surgeries (excisions) which were expertly done. No joke: other doctors have complimented my beautiful and perfect scars. Most importantly, I trust her judgment completely when it comes to identifying melanomas: When she thinks it is one, it is. When I think it's one, she does a shave biopsy (removes it and sends it to the lab to have it checked out) so that I won't have to keep worrying about it, but it never is one. (This has happened 2 or 3 times.) Because of the melanoma history, I need to have regularly-scheduled full-body mole checks. Dr. Walker is thorough but quick, and like I said, I trust that if there's trouble, she'll find it. Her office runs on time, which I find to be rare in the world of doctor's appointments. The nurses are friendly, the front desk staff is helpful, and the place is very clean, orderly and attractive. I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because, well, it's in Orinda, not in Oakland. read more

It is as if I am visting a completely different office than is described. I am absolutely thrilled with the care I recieve from Dr. Walker and her staff. Unfortunately, I have had to visit Dr. Walker many times during the last year. She has been very helpful and has explained the course of my treatment and made sure that I understood my treatments. Her staff has been very efficient and always been able to get me in at the prescribed intervals. They are friendly and were helpful when dealing with my insurance and referalls. Worst Dermotologist ever. She told me a spot on my face was precancerous and to put chemo cream on it. And also advised if another spot ever comes up to do the same! If you don't know, chemocream is a long drawn out process of 3 weeks of it turning red and another 3 weeks of treating it till it burns your skin off, then another however many months of all of that healing. She had said if it doesn't work then she wants to biopsy my face leaving a scar. Well the cream didn't work and I looked like a burn victim for months after. I of course went to look to get a 2nd opinion from another dermatologist instead of doing the biopsy and they said it was vascular not precancerous and they lasered it and now it's gone. I called Walker to tell them about this and I never got a call back to acknowledge her lack of knowledge on this whole thing and take responsibility for giving the wrong diagnosis. Prior to that she did surgery on a tiny mole I had on my leg needing to "clear the margins" left a massive messy scar on my leg that looks like it will never heal. She then had her front desk person take the stitches who was clearly untrained who left pieces of stitches in my leg which I didn't notice till the skin had grown back over cause she had put glue and tape all over my leg and said don't take it off. I then had to go back to this awful place to have then reopen my leg to get the stitches out. On top of all that they don't answer their phone or get back to their patients efficiently. The other doctor or nurse who works with her is actually nice and needs to find another doctor to work for, she actually took the time to talk to me about my concerns while Walker was short, rude and cold doesn't seem to care for her patients and is trying to make money while cutting corners. Oh and she had told a client of mine to put chemocream all over her face as well and I don't doubt that she was wrong about that too. Don't go to this woman. Terrible. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Walker's for several years. I've been to her office for yearly checkups and the occasional problem. I've been to other dermatologists in the past, and she is easily the best. She has always diagnosed problems quickly and accurately and has prescribed treatments or medication that cured those problems. Her office staff is courteous and attentive. When I've needed to get a quick appointment for a skin problem, her staff has tried to work me in within a few days. On those occasions, I was sometimes seen by her colleague, Dr. Price, or her PA's, who are also helpful. I'm also happy with the quality and expertise level of her assistants. Dr Walker has a great bedside manner. She is upbeat and easy to talk to. She has a great sense of humor too. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences here. Yes - I've occasionally waited a few minutes, but have always been made to feel welcome and never rushed. As a Mom to 4 daughters - we've been through acne issues and birth control discussions are one option to treat it - but not the only option. I've never felt pushed to use BC vs other topical or oral antibiotic treatments. Skin cancer is rampant in our family's medical history - the office staff is great about reminding me to keep with the annual screenings. Love this group! read more

My husband and I have gone to see Dr. Walker for many years and have always been very satisfied with her care. Over the years I have needed numerous biopsies and one removal of a skin cancer, and these procedures were always done with precision and care. I recently had a skin problem that several other doctors could not diagnose, but Dr. Walker immediately identified the condition, which the biopsy later proved to be the correct diagnosis. I've been seeing Dr. Walker for many years now, starting in my teen years when I was very embarrassed about my acne and into my college years when acne was "coming back". Just recently I got married and before that I went to see her to make sure I looked flawless on my day. It was amazing. She prescribed just the right medications and on my wedding day and now almost 8 months later, I feel and look flawless. Dr. Walker is a wonderful doctor who really cares about her patients. Much to be desired. I came in for mole removals on face, chest and back. Received treatment and simultaneously asked about laser treatment for brown/sunspot on my nose. The PA who performed the laser treatment was extremely nice however she extended laser treatment throughout my entire nose- and basically it turned darker after 2 treatments. No apologies given or refund offered and they even charged me a copay when I returned to complain that condition worsened. Had I been informed in more detail about the risk and chances of my skin getting darker (due to my my skin tone) I would have insisted that the PA not readily laser lower part of my nose. It's been over 6 months and I now humbly have to live with it! It was a careless decision and she should have been more careful and treated the small area first. That said I'm spending more $ trying to treat it with lightening creams, so far not much change after several months. read more

I asked for a copy of my records and I literally received scribble on a notepad with no office name, no doctors name, nothing but a date stamp. Seeing as I can't directly respond to certain posts discussing isolated incidents they had that were unfavorable I decided to post this review. I've been a patient of Dr. Walker's for multiple years now, and I cannot stress how amazing all of the treatment, bedside manner, and organization has been. When I saw the reviews for her office, I was shocked to see any remotely negative ones. As someone who works directly in the beauty industry, aligning myself with someone that takes care in the work they do is of the utmost priority. My experiences with other dermatologists before Dr. Walker are limited, and after, are nonexistent due to her amazing ability to efficiently help me with each and every visit. Dr. Walker has never failed to deliver on any treatment to myself or one of my family members and has always been our go-to dermatologist. She has always been extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and precise. I have consistently relied on her surgical and technical skills to keep me looking my best, her skill set is unparalleled. Wait times have never been a problem and they have always been very efficient, organized, and hospitable in the front office. To me that speaks to the work ethic she demands in all aspects of her business. I continuously recommend her to friends and have never received anything except thanks for recommending her to them. Can I give them zero stars? I went there to see a Connie who had nothing but positive things to say about Ultherapy for eyes. I believed her, had it done, a month later I consulted with Dr. Walker because there were no results, she said it could take at least six months. Well, ten months later I see no results. When I called them, after two phone calls a woman gets back to me and basically said that it's not abnormal to not get any results. There is no guarantee. Hmmm I wish Connie had said that. She said she'd check with the rep and get back to me. She was abrupt and rude on top of that. You'd think she would have said that maybe we should try it again. Do not go to this doctor. We've been seeing a Nurse Practitioner for treatment, and turned out that the doctor was signing the chart as if she saw us. This is a serious violation of medical practice, if not illegal. I only found out when the chart was passed back to my child's primary physician. If this is not enough, they also doubled booked our appointment (so the waiting time was nearly an hour), as well as misplaced the chart. read more

The doctor is ok, but the office is a disaster. I've given them two chances, both times it was just a royal pain. Never on time, confusion when booking appts, overbooked. Her staff doesn't communicate well. They scheduled for the wrong amount of time each time and she then didn't have time. She's fine at what she does, although a friend of mine was misdiagnosed for a year before finding another doc who cured the problem. Bottom line, it's an ok practice, but not optimal. read more

The office staff is terrible. They never call back, your msgs nobody know who received it. I actually went to tge office to get my 1st appointment. They have 15 minutes policy they got me late 30 minutes to my 1st appointment. Then 2nd apppinent iam 10 minutes late according To my phone they insist according to their clock it is 15 minutes and I have to reschedule! I will never go back. read more

I have worked with Dr. Walker for a number of years. "Worked wither her" means I have taken her advice, followed her instructions and directions and have successfully avoiding further skin complications or issues. It's a visit I always look forward to. Dr. Walker is pleasant, knowledgeable, concise and precise. I've never had to wait beyond my designated appointment time. Her staff is just as efficient and kind as she is. While I like Dr. Walker, I've now had multiple appointments cancelled as she decided to take the day off. Once I thought was annoying, but twice now? (And I've only seen her twice in total!) If I weren't trying to schedule appointments around my days off, I wouldn't mind so much. After seeing our pediatrician for birth control he convinced us that Dr Walkers office is the best in the area for teen acne..... my daughter is on antibiotics and cream in addition to the pill. We ran out of meds last friday and called a refill in ... no response at all and its Tuesday - finally got a hold of the office (by the way their message service is not functioning - but the message says it will be fixed by the first of the year????? Its March)... they wont prescribe her anymore antibotics unless she comes in.... Its antibiotics not pain meds.... crazy.... time to find a new dermatologist.... any suggestions??? read more
