What's for lunch today? I stopped at Kroger for sandwich makings finding sliced meat and sliced cheese in the deli department where I was helped by a pleasant and patient young man. A few other bits were picked up here and there before I was able to get to the self-checkout. Since Kroger bought my home chain of Harris Teeter, I get to enter my VIC number and earn Fuel Points. I arrived at the Kroger deli at 8:02 PM (they close at 8 PM) hoping to get fresh sliced meat. Instead of politely informing me they were closed, the two employees chose to ignore me, continuing their conversation for a full minute before finally telling me they wouldn't serve me. Two minutes past closing is not an unreasonable time to expect basic courtesy--especially when I was standing right there waiting. A simple "Sorry, we're closed" as soon as I approached would have been fine, but instead, they made it clear that their chat was more important than helping a customer. If Kroger can't train its deli staff to handle closing time with even minimal professionalism, maybe they should adjust their hours or hire employees who actually care about customer service. Floral Department: I began bringing my wife one rose on our anniversary for each year we've been married. This year we are at 39 roses all in one vase. A very sweet lady named Nargis who works in the floral department at the Bethany Kroger has done most if not all of the last 18 years of arrangements for me. Each year they are even more beautiful than the last, and how she creates such beauty in one vase with so many roses astounds me. Nargis, I can't wait to see what you do with 40, 50, 60 roses!!! My favorite location is E Bethany. Always clean and stocked. Employees are very friendly and helpful. I enjoy their larger options over McDermott location. I do try to go mid morning when there are less people. I can't say enough good things about this location. read more

I have been having this certain ham cut in their deli dept. for about 25 years but when I approached a deli employee named Nicholas he said he couldn't do it and just walked away! No explanation and no apology. Just walked away! I went to another employee and she did it for me. Nicholas had a poor attitude and no desire to help a long time customer. I reproached Nicholas and had to ask him why and he said because he had never been asked to cut that before. Amazing. read more

The absolute worst experience. I have a broken ankle went to store Friday morning @. 9am. Six mobility scooters were lined up and NONE of them worked. Forced to stumbled around store. Many employees said Hello, or smiled at me as I hobbled around store. No one asked to help Then bagger took my eggs and pastry and packed them vertically in my cloth bag. Result when I got home was a mess. Bread crushed too I tried contacting Kroger to complain and response was thank you for your feed back Never going to Kroger again. read more

I continue to shake my head at this Krogers store and I am just going to have to throw in the towel and stop going here. Today, I was pleased to see it was a 25% off wine week, so I put 12 bottles in my cart along with some other needed items. I was in a huge hurry as it was 12:30 and hubby, who was waiting for me out in the car, had a 1 pm appointment. I lucked out and had a manned check out station available so I checked out there after putting in my rewards number. The cashier gave me the receipt and said, "you saved a dollar today!" I said, "What? I had 25% off my wine!" She looked dumbfounded and since I was next to customer service, I went there. The customer service lady wanted to go to the wine section to check information about it being 25% off week. I told her I didn't have time for that but that I would be back. So I left with my groceries and got husband to his 1 o'clock appointment. Drove back to the store and started to interact with the same Indian lady behind the counter. When I showed her the picture that I took showing the ad for the 25% off she asked me to bring all the wine back in so she could void it and rering it. I asked her if she could just add up the wine on the receipt and credit back the missing 25%. She told me she wasn't very good at math (I swear she said just that!) and that she didn't have a calculator back there. I mentioned that I thought it was interesting that she job where she was supposed to do financial services and money orders for the store. She picked up her phone as if to use that as a calculator but then ask me to do the calculating on my own phone. I was in a real hurry since I had to go pick my husband up at 2 o'clock and leave town so I didn't do the calculations correctly. I cheated myself of money that was owed to me. More than that, we now have a store that seems to be OK with cheating its customers the promised amount on their registers. I was disappointed to see the only Deli Associate working the counter with a full (thick) beard serving customers without a beard guard. Food employees are required to wear some type of hair restraints or covering for body hair. I was curious if he just forgot to put one one so I asked but he shrugged his shoulders, told me his beard doesn't shed and that he would be cutting down his beard soon. He then proceeded to wipe the sweat from his face on his shirt and continued working. So as I was doing my self check out, I mentioned it to the MOD... This was my absolute last try with Kroger Pharmacies. Yet again I got a text message saying when the prescription would be ready and when I got there they say "Oh, we don't have that. We have to order it. It'll be here in 4 days." This has gotten to be the response about 1/3 of the time at Kroger Pharmacies. They said there was a possibility it might be available at two locations, both in different counties outside of Collin County, but they had no interest in finding out for sure. I have finally had it with thsi POS store. Your advertised prices are wrong on so many occasions and after 12 years of coming to your store I am done. Over the last year this place has gone down in every aspect. Again, like last weeks meat market, the advertised price was 1/2 the price then requitred to pay at the check out. My father went in yesterday to pick up his migraine medication and was told to return today. He returned today and it was still not ready. He was told to come back in two days. More importantly, he has difficulty hearing and paired with their barely-working speaker system, he had trouble hearing the pharmacist. Short, African-American, in her mid 30's. Pretty decent Kroger located in Allen a few minutes from Hwy 75/Bethany: Multi entrances made it easy to find a place to park on this rainy Sat morning. I shop the perimeter so started in the bakery to produce section. Because of the early hour, they were putting out some fresh items and was fully stocked: tomatoes, nectarines, peaches, lettuce, carrots. Meat selection was good as they had items I needed for Sat dinner (something fun) and Sunday dinner (something comfortable). I always look for different food offerings and this time was no different: Cold pressed Pineapple juice at reduced pricing - good fir drinking or liquid base for smoothies. Folks are pretty friendly too. Got "good mornings" from workers and customers alike. read more

I love this Kroger, especially since it got a make-over into one of their nicer stores. They have a great selection and their staff is really nice. I appreciate how much room they provide on the aisles, they don't try and cram everything in so you feel like you can shop a little more relaxed because you're not having to fight people for aisle space and shank someone over a Dr. Pepper. You can get in, get what you need (and then some) and get out without much hassle. All of these are good things in a grocery store to me! read more

This store has really poor management. Last month they had NO plastic bags in the produce department to place the produce. When I asked an employee where the bags were, he angrily stated "WE DON'T HAVE ANY" and walked off (I'm sure I was the 200th person who was asking). I don't know what they expected people to do with the loose produce. Surely they could have placed small trash bags or paper sacks... Then today, I saw a product with a sign that said $1.79. When I go to the self-service check out, it rings up $1.99. I went to the Customer Service desk and a sign says it is closed. Really ? They force you to use self-check, then they have no one available to correct the error when it rings up wrong. This is the reason my wife insist that we shop at Market Street. read more

Usually go into Bethany location several times a week. Today I saw something alarming. There were several people walking around kn the store not wearing masks. I stopped a store employee and they told me they did not enforce the wearing of masks. If I wanted to I could call the Police. That is not good customer service. Since Krogers does not care about customer safety, I will shop at a differant grocery store. If you care about your health I recomend shoping elsewhere. read more

I love this Kroger. Friendly staff and great sushi! I've been coming here ever since I moved to Allen from Plano two years ago. I was very impressed with how eager everyone is to help here. The produce is always fresh and items are typically available all the time. The sushi here also impressed me, as it has the quality of a restaurant grade dish for great prices. Best Kroger in Allen! I love this Kroger and have been going since it ever opened as a little girl. Recently though, I noticed Kroger is making a really big point to have low prices and they definitely deliver! Produce is always really fresh and I love the availability of organic meats, although I will say sometimes they will be completely out which interrupts my weekly meal prep because I'll have to go grocery shopping somewhere else. They have a variety of grocery items including dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan which will fit anyone's dietary lifestyle. The bulk food section is also great because you can find some of your favorite snacks, with a little more pizazz (spiced nuts for example) that won't break the bank. As long as I live in this area, I will continue to go here. They also recently added a "scan and go" service which I am excited to try. read more

I love going to Kroger just because it's easy to use their e coupons and gas discount. I usually go when I have coupons for my specific items and any big promo they have. But also if you look at your receipt you might notice a survey and they are excellent with this...you get gas points from this...just by doing the survey guaranteed. No could win with them. It's awesome! I'm often saving on gas because of this. They have do have a Starbucks, however, I do not prefer it. Just didn't have my orders filled correct. I go to the one down by Wal Mart instead. I love them! They are redoing the space behind Starbucks. I wonder what will be there. Hmm. I love the manager specials! I can get milk, yogurt, and some other things discounted. Though they would be close to expiration date, so read carefully before buying. With my boys I tend to go through it quickly and don't have to worry. read more

Shopped here while staying w/ my aunts in Texas! There aren't any Krogers in California, but from what I saw it seems like a Safeway or Tom Thumb, but with more discounts! Huge parking lot (as with all places in tx) and nice interior. Nothing fancy here, but the aisles were wide and brightly lit, store specials were promoted well. We got two loaves of whole wheat bread for less than three dollars with a bogo special! A previous reviewer noted that you don't get the specials when you go through self-checkout, but we scanned our kroger card and the specials apply when you are ready to pay. It's a great local supermarket if you live nearby, my only disappointment was the tiny selection of soymilk. I only saw one brand being sold and it didn't have the calcium & vitamin d that I'm used to buying! No fun for lactose intolerant people! :( read more

It is impossible to follow the 6 feet social distancing when shopping at Kroger. The VCT tile flooring squares are 12"x12". Some of the aisles are only 7' apart. Until the aisles are One-Way only, I'll need to find another grocery store to shop. Called the Kroger Store Manager to suggest One-Way aisles & he cut me off saying, "You'll have to call our Corporate Office because that's a call way above my my pay grade." The pharmacy in this store is horrible! Every time my doctor calls in a prescription, it will literally sit there for weeks unless you call them 20 times. Then they'll lie to you tell you it will be ready an hour, and you call the next day and they never touched it. Case in point, my doctor called in a script for me on June 11th, and today is the 17th, and I needed it yesterday...still not ready. Try Walgreens... This Kroger sucks! read more

Was planing a large BBQ. As I'm way into BBQ. The Hebrew Old Testament contains what may be the first detailed plans for the design of a barbecue. In Exodus, chapter 27, Moses brings down the 10 Commandments and tells his flock that God wants them to construct a tabernacle for the Ark for the Covenant, including an altar for burnt offerings. The taste of slowly smoke roasted meat with flavorful sauce grew in popularity, especially in the southern United States. Slaves did most of the cooking, maintained the smokehouses, and were given responsibility for preparing open pit barbecues for big celebrations such as weddings, holidays, and political gatherings. George Washington had a large smokehouse and a large still at his plantation at Mt. Vernon, VA. On May 27, 1769, he wrote in his diary "Went in to Alexandria [VA] to a Barbecue and stayed all Night." So the tradition of partying all night with outdoor cooked meat and whiskey can be traced back at least this far. Washington even hosted "a Barbicue of my own giving at Accatinck" in September 1773. At this point Kroger was my option for BBQ. Used to love the old Winn Dixie, sadly it's no more. I turned to this Kroger for pork butts and brisket. All I can say is Frank really came though. This review is specific to the PHARMACY. It I could find this locations pharmacy listed separate, I would leave this review there. Here is a day in the life at this pharmacy. Dropped off a prescription at noon with a coupon attached. Come to pick up around 7:45 PM. Four people working but no one to check me out quickly even though my prescription has been there over 6 hours and they said ready in 1 1/2 hours. When someone finally bothers to come to the counter, I was told the pharmacist needs to look prescription over. OK Then they check someone else that was there waiting but scrips had not been ready. When it was my turn, the price was wrong because they had not applied the coupon I made sure I printed and handed in when the prescription was dropped off. They quickly fixed that problem and I got checked out. This is not my first time to pick up meds at this pharmacy. Every time I pick up I wonder why I bothered with them. Better to go to another pharmacy where I can just walk up and pay (more) and leave. There is NO WAY to just go pick up your meds and leave, ever. Drive through is also a bust. You cannot win so don't try. Go when you have lots of time to waste standing around with sick people. read more

This Kroger is a good bit better than the Kroger on Hwy 5 and Exchange. First off, it's way more spacious, the store is bigger so they space the aisles out more, which is great when there are a lot of people shopping. Next, my big issue with the other Kroger, is that the Deli folks know how to properly slice Coppa! First time I went I thought I would give it a try to see if they did any better, and wow, they did even better than Central Market! It was razor thin, melted immediately in my mouth, turned an average Boar's Head Coppa into nearly as good as gourmet imported stuff. And finally, the checkout lines are the old-style pull your cart up & they scan directly from the cart, no transferring to a conveyor belt. Kind of a lazy thing but pretty nice. If you're halfway between the Kroger on Exchange and the one on Bethany, definitely go to the one on Bethany. It's much better. read more

Tried grocery pick up for the first time yesterday, never again! First my pick up time was postponed at the last minute from Friday evening to Saturday. Bananas were so ripe could only use for banana bread, onions were rotten, bread was smashed. I was also charged over $20 more that what my receipt reflects. It's the closest grocery store to my home, but I've avoided doing much shopping here because of the lack of organic selections, customer service and overall appearance of the store. However, over the past year this Kroger has really stepped up it's game. The store is clean, they're organic selections has grown and the employees are friendly and very helpful. An additional plus is their digital coupons. You can upload coupons from their website to your Kroger Card and get great savings. Who doesn't like saving a buck or two? I only stop by here when in Allen but it seems to be a nice place. It is a huge store!! Stopped in on Mother's Day and they appeared to have a good variety of flowers and sweets. I stopped to grab a dessert and even though they were out of a lot of stuff there was a good bit left to choose from. Outside there was a tent that you could drive over to and purchase flowers instead of going inside the store. I wish there was one closer to me. I'd be there! read more
