Stopped in this Kroger while on my way back home to the Des Moines IA metro from Columbus OH…read more Staff was friendly enough. This location seems like it might be a little older than others. The store wasn't dirty or anything; it just seemed a little dated. My main reason for stopping in was to check out the bourbon selection. It was kind of minimal, but they did have a Heaven Hill rye Grain to Glass on the shelf. Where I'm from this is pretty much an allocated bottle so that was nice to see. Convenient and right off the interstate for those of us just traveling through... Being just across the street from a White Castle gives this Kroger an extra star right from the jump... Lol

Last evening, the store was filthy, shelves full of empty boxes, a store full of customers and two registers open for people with carts full of groceries. Self checking with a full cart is nearly impossible. Employees were standing around playing on their phones. All of this when Meijer is opening in three days just two miles away. I'm a Meijer customer from this point on, it's a much cleaner more pleasant experience all around. It's sad to see a new store go down hill like this and It be a plain nasty experience if it continues.

Yay!! The Salvation Army suggests you spend between 25-125 dollars per Angel. If going inside Walmart is not possible for you, no worries you can still give by visiting "The Salvation Army's Walmart Angel Tree" page and enter your zip code to find a registry near you. From there you can shop for the items online and have them delivered by Walmart Spark Good Registry to a local Salvation Army. Keep in mind not all Walmarts have actual Angel Trees inside. To locate a Walmart with an actual Angel Tree, visit the Salvation Army website. Remember the Angel Tree program does have a deadline and it varies by location. See ya there!!

Payless and Fresh Thyme are the much better options not only for easy shopping but supporting local growers who provide much better quality produce. Walmart continues to hold back decent pay to its staff, add to the insane food waste generated by ignoring proper expiring food discounts and discolored fruits and veg, until that changes I got to tell everyone avoid and shop anywhere else where there's some access like at Kroger to help reduce waste and make good use of good farmer products.

I'm very happy that Indianapolis has TWO Trader Joe's locations while many cities have none at all. Employees are always incredibly friendly and helpful. And it is never difficult to find someone to assist. I always check out the plants first, as I often find something I need to add to my collection. Some of my TJ favorites: Cheese of all varieties but especially Unexpected Cheddar, Cottage cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, squiggly knife cut noodles, Danish Kringle in all varieties, peanut butter cups, frozen mashed potatoes, frozen hash browns, and too many other things to list. There is always something new and different to try at Trader Joe's, and I often stop in just to see what is new. It is always a fun experience and great place to shop.

I was having a really tough day and still needed to get my grocery shopping done so I chose the one grocery store I know that always makes me feel better: TJ's...Mr. Joseph's..Good ole' Trader Joe's. Was I planning on getting lava cakes upon entering the store? No. Whoops...add to cart. Did I need that bouquet of flowers that greeted me with a delightful smell right after walking through the doors? No. Add to cart. When I got to the checkout almost tripling my budget for groceries (don't go shopping while sad) the cashier had the normal friendliness you expect from anyone working at Trader Joe's. When she asked how my day was going my body took this exact moment to let all of the tears roll out of my eyes. Embarrassed? Yes BUT it's like the employees were trained for these situations. The kind cashier smiled and shared how she too had a rough day the day before. She then added an extra bouquet to my basket and no matter how bad my day was, it's the small kindnesses from employees here that truly make a big difference in someone's day to day experience. I walked away feeling lighter...and with tasty chocolates to snack on and all of my groceries for the week and I was actually smiling on what felt like quite possibly one of the worst days of this year. So I hope you enjoyed reading this novel. All this to say, I will always love this store. Thank you Trader Joe's! You and your employees are a true gift.
