There are some cranky people reviewing the Orion township Kroger on Baldwin Road. Yes, occasionally they run short of items, especially when items are on sale. It's a smaller store with many newbies moving into the area that happens. Have shopped there for years. Staff has always been polite, helpful. Mike in veggies aisle is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Every time I have requested assistance, employees have been helpful and resolved my questions. Self checkout is convenient, has glitches but someone is always ready to help. Have shopped in slow and peak times, good service all around. What I especially like about this Kroger is the neighborly atmosphere. There are several much larger Kroger's in the area and I am not impressed. The Silverbell road, Sashabaw, Dixie Hwy Krogers are crowded, rude customers, and nobody knows how to drive politely in those parking lots. I don't purchase meats at Kroger, too many recalls, but that's not the fault of the staff. If the cranky people want a fancy butler service store with more than the basics, they are welcome to drive to Rochester and Bloomfield Hills, and leave this Kroger to the locals. read more

One of the worst major chain grocery stores. Customer service is an afterthought. Shelves are empty a lot. I am told by employees to that because they are a smaller store they don't get items. I have to go out of my way to others major chains to get what I need. Don't expect to find items that are on sale to be in stock many times. The staff is always helpful and shelves are always stocked. There's nothing more you can ask for from a grocery store. Never too busy. This location doesn't have a lot of the healthier options that other Krogers have in the area - but if you want the best bagel in town...get to Kroger early and try one of their cheese covered bagels. AMAZING. You wouldn't think a grocery store could crank out a decent bagel or doughnut...but these guys do it! read more

If you think you're getting a deal on T-bone steaks, think again. Bought a three pack today. The top one was whole, the two were completely missing the tenderloin. They were packaged to conceal that fact. My husband says this is a common practice for them with all packaged meat, so buyer beware. read more

Went to buy two pack of sirloin steak on Sunday because it's a nice day for grilling. From the outside the steak was red like it's new steaks but right under the first steak it was starting to rod so I just threw it out. Never shop the Kroger on Baldwin Rd and Waldon Rd again. Should have return the meat but wasn't going to waste 15 mins for $10. read more

Every single time I stop in this place they are out of one or more of the things I came to get in the first place. To say it is irritating at this point would be an understatement. This is not an occasional issue. This is a daily occurrence. The only reason I shop here is out of convenience. I will say the employees there are very good. Always friendly. This Kroger is is not very good. Empty shelves, deli people never around. Terrible service at the deli. I have waited numerous times for 1/2 hour when only one person in front of me. Sometimes no one is ever there at all and apparently no one else in the whole can work the deli. Sad read more

I've never had a problem with Krogers. Fruit is always fresh no problems with meat or anything else at the Sashabaw store. I have also shopped Lake Orion store and never had a problem or the one on Baldwin. read more

I cannot stand using the store. I end up here because it's close to my house and then remember how bad the store is. I just left after another disappointing shopping trip and I can't believe people take so little pride in their jobs. There was very few options for boneless breast of chicken and minimal stock for the milk variations. As I checked out I watched the clerk scanning my food wipe her nose with her hand several times and had to remind her to please not place my produce on my raw meats. I'm going to have to make the effort to go to Meijer and stay out of this store. Basic sanitation issues are a deal breaker for me. read more

The Kroger in Lake Orion MI, on Lapeer Rd has an employee named Eric assigned to the produce section. He is phenomenal! He actually teaches customers as he works. He'll tell you about where produce is from, how to determine freshness, when produce is expected to come in, and how to get the quantity that is best for your needs. He tells you what's on sale and walks you over to it. He even showed me the "rubbing the sprinkled produce" trick for opening the plastic bags. Terrific guy! I want to like this place because I literally go here weekly but I have about run out of patience for this store. 1) Produce is hit or miss in terms of being in stock and fresh. 2) Many items are frequently out of stock - seems like they only get shipments delivered once per week. 3) Staff restocking shelves or cleaning the store are at times rude - sometimes not moving out of the way of shoppers. Also why not restock shelves during off times (early morning/late evening)? 4) Not enough baggers. 75% of the time I have to bag my own groceries. Just last week I was bagging my own groceries and watched 2-3 staff just standing around talking to cashiers. Unacceptable! If this keeps up, I am changing stores or chains altogether. read more

Overall, I do like the store but there's been a handful of times that the meat department is selling spoiled meat. I bought 2 packs of ground pork and stored it away in the freezer, like I always do, until I'm ready to use it. Last week I took one pack out to cook and it stunk up the house! Granted my sense of smell was not good that day and I eventually was able to smell it after cooking it. So I tossed my meal out. I figured it was just that pack. But today, I took the other pack out. This time I smelled the meat and you can tell how foul the pork smelled! It is pretty horrible! You are my to go store but after this experience, I cannot trust this store anymore. read more

Great neighborhood store. The cashiers are so friendly and nice! The baggers do a great job too! The floral department is great every time I need a quick gift. The meat/deli department is scarce half the time though. It's hard to get someone to wait on me. Other than that they have a great selection, especially their organic isle. Pretty good selection of organic produce too but I wish it that was a bit bigger though. read more

I will drive MILES out of my way whenever I can to avoid this store. They always out of everything yet the busiest times seem to be the exact time they decide to stock shelves. You can't get down any aisle because of the shelve stockers. The options at the Silverbell and Adams location is much better. I'm ignored when waiting at the deli counter while the man back there reads a binder. He then goes in back and brings out a case of chicken to begin making fried chicken. All while I wait for lunch meat. If it weren't for the staff in the check out lanes, I'd never think of stepping foot in there. Most of that staff are very kind and courteous.
