Food is always priced well and their options are wonderful. The service is helpful despite the busy atmosphere.

I have had issues with this Kroger location since it opened. I finally just stopped shopping here. However, I have continued using the pharmacy. I have been a Kroger pharmacy user for approximately 23-24 years; both in Ohio and here. Everything has always been great and I have only started having problems with the pharmacy personnel here within the last year. I always get my proper medication, but that is not the issue. The problem is the surly, condescending attitude of the young girls who work there. The tone in their voice is one of condescension as if they are doing the customers a favor to give them their medication and take their money. Anything out of the ordinary seems to irritate them. In fact, they just seem irritated all the time. That has been going on for a while but now it has escalated to actual rudeness. Example: because of illness and disability I have been using their prescription delivery system for the last 7 months. Last Saturday I called the store and made arrangements for a delivery on Monday afternoon. (Deliveries must be arranged in the morning of the day prior to the actual delivery and no deliveries are made on Saturday or Sunday. Then, on the delivery day the delivery arrives between 2-6 pm.) The tracking app used by the delivery company is not very good and often it is impossible to track. So, a delivery can be tricky. Anyway, back to this particular time, I realized on Monday morning I had not received any confirmation and could not locate the delivery in the app. I called the store to check on it and spoke to a very nice woman named Ashley. She checked for me and said my medications (There were 5, mostly heart meds. One was nitroglycerin and really needed.) had been bagged up and were sitting there waiting to be picked up that afternoon. Great! At 5:15 pm I realized time was running out and I hadn't heard anything about the delivery. So I called the store again. This is where the customer service problems really got started. A young girl answered ( I won't include her name) and told me the meds hadn't been picked up yet. I said the time was getting short, I needed the meds and would she check to make sure they would be delivered. She said they use an outside company and there was nothing she could do. I explained the seriousness of the heart meds and why I needed them. She said in a - why don't you stop bothering me - voice, "Most people pickup their prescriptions." What????? I remained calm and said I am disabled and unable to drive and must use the delivery. She couldn't have cared less and said, "Maybe they will deliver them tomorrow." Maybe???? I then asked for the manager and first she told me he had left for the day. I asked what time he would be there tomorrow morning and she said he wouldn't. It was like pulling teeth to get information from her. Finally, she said he was taking the week off. I asked who was in charge in his absence and she said, "No one." Well now, that's a definite problem - if it's the truth. Needing the meds and realizing i wasn't able to make that happen that day I told her to just arrange for the delivery for tomorrow. The next day I was telling my neighbor about this situation and he insisted on driving me to the pharmacy drive-thru and we picked up the meds so I could be sure to have them. Then, when I got home, I received a text message from an area code I did not recognize saying, "Hey they told me you picked up the order." It had to be the meds because I hadn't ordered anything else from anywhere else. I didn't bother to respond. However, I am seriously considering calling the Cincinnati HQ and talking about the poor hiring and training practices at this store. What's wrong with people? read more

Since moving to Virginia 14 years ago my family has chosen Kroger as our primary store. However with competition over the past few we are not as loyal. This particular Kroger is far removed from my local store. After a single visit I'm a fan. I really prefer the more spacious Kroger Marketplace stores for the variety and deeper offerings. An example is the reason I visited a store 25 minutes from my home. The beer selection is phenomenal and it's not as busy as Virginia Beach. So typically they can get special brews in and they will last on the shelf longer. They also offer a tasting bar which is unique. Prior to making the trip I spoke with the beer/wine manager Jermey to confirm inventory. He was great! My visit consisted of picking up a few limited release Founder KBS Stouts. I also tried one at the bar on tap and had excellent service by a female staff. I would recommend this particular Kroger for awesome service and selection of beer and wine. read more

I used to live in Ohio, so Kroger was the be-all-end-all of higher end grocery chains. When I moved here to VA, there were a few around but they were terrible in quality. Over the past few years, Kroger has expanded, bought out competitors and upped their game for sure. I visited this location in Suffolk when I friend invited me to a premiere wine and cheese pairing tasting they were offering. And I said, "at Kroger? For real?" Color me WRONG! I was incredibly impressed. The staff was excellent -- the wine and cheese pairings were superb. Even when I didn't care for one or the other, the pairing was excellent. I have been to numerous wine and cheese pairing tastings in the area at a variety of stores/restaurants, and NONE was a well executed and balanced as this one. I was incredibly impressed. Additionally, we received a small gift bag with a few of the items we tried as well as a gift card for a future purchase in the store. Overall, an amazing experience. If I lived closer, I would probably shop here more frequently! read more

Nice grocery store, BUT, they bought cheap shopping cart wheels! It ruins the shopping experience to have to deal with the this. Management needs to pay attention; they bought Harris Teeter, and that store doesn't have this issue. Easy to solve, but they aren't doing anything about it. read more

Deals all the time! I do not visit this location often, but when I do there are some deals in store. Make sure you download the app. You will want this app especially when they feature deals that are only available via the app. In my case, that is why I visited this location on a Saturday in March 2018. I was preparing to host a dinner party and needed soft drinks. Kroger featured their name brand 12 oz cans in a 12 pack for under $2 a case. I hopped on this deal with the quickness. On this same day, deals were on Smithfield bacon and a handful of other items. Like, Tostitos tortilla chips were BOGO through the app. This location is super tidy and it can be busy from time to time, but the wait is almost never unbearable. Parking is plentiful, you may just have to take a few more steps than you'd like if you have to back near the end of the lot. Remember to bring you own reusable bags if you are making a purchase. Kroger takes off a few coins for those that use their own bags. While it may not seem like much, the coins can add up to a dollar super quick if you are a frequent shopper. This store is located minutes from I664 and several eateries and shopping stores are nearby. I recommend you stop in and see what they offer and check out the store set up. I hate grocery shopping but I write this review based on the store and not on my hatred for shopping. I'm a in and out type person when it comes to shopping. Get what I came for and leave. Whenever a monkey wrench is thrown into the equation my whole personality changes and sometimes I have been known to just leave the cart right there. One of the most irritating things about grocery stores since the pandemic is shortage. I'm not sure exactly how a virus can have such a chain reaction but I never expected Covid 19 to affect 2022! Now there were a lot of empty shelves but because I don't know the delivery schedule of a grocery store I'm not sure if Monday mornings are usually a restock day. Now with all that being said, this is my go to Kroger because it is the best condition store of all the other Kroger's that I bypass to get to this one. The staff is helpful, the store is bright and clean and although they had empty shelves I would rather shop for what they have than to go to the other stores that are subpar conditions. The lines were free and they bagged my groceries and sent me on the way. I hate grocery shopping but I don't mind shopping here when I do have to go. This has been another interesting grocery adventure. read more

Let me start off by saying I love this supermarket chain from the fresh fruits and vegetables,bakery items(bread and pastries) to their Boars Head meats and cheeses in the deli, oh I can't forget the sample of craft beers and the fact I can refill my growlers with my favorite selections which change frequently,sample while you shop how can you beat that!!... Let me explain the one star,I purchase a carton of fresh eggs, at least I thought they were at first until I opened them up. I was preparing breakfast and I got down to the last few eggs and I realized I couldn't crack the shell and I thought it was me then after another attempt I realized I had a hard boiled egg in the carton,then afterwards I realized there was another hard boiled egg in the carton,I couldn't believe what I was seeing, never in my many years of cracking eggs have I seen not one but two hard boiled eggs in a carton before. This is weird,makes me wonder about Kroger and their freshness of products being sold in their stores,I won't give up on them but something has to be done so no one else has to experience this!.. read more

This is my second favorite Kroger. It's tied with the one in Ghent. This one is huge. It has just about everything and the prices are good. The organic & natural section could be bigger, but that's okay. When I've asked for help, it's always been delivered quickly & with a smile. It's a pretty clean store. They always have shopping carts. They've never been out of something that I've needed. They've either had it or not carried it at all. Samples are nice, and there are plenty in the prepared foods & cheese sections. There's almost never a line at the self-checkout. When I buy produce, it lasts for a few days. This is significant, since HT's produce spoils before I even make it back to my house. Same umbrella company, vastly different produce quality. Reliable location that I'll sometimes go to when I'm bored. So, 4-stars. read more

I went the Starbucks they have inside around 9 am today 2/26/20222 the girl making coffee was very rude and burned both sandwiches I got. You can taste how burnt it is all inside . She also made both hot drinks I got wrong and one of them taste rancid. Absolutely disgusting. Do not go this Starbucks inside this store . Go down the street to the other one . Horrible experience at the self checkout! I went to this Kroger for the first time during the evening, Friday September 28th at around 8pm. I usually go in the morning to do my shopping and the people that work the morning shift have been very friendly. As I was checking my stuff out at the self-checkout I needed to void out a item and a nice redhead was helping me. I think on her name tag it was spelled Betsy or Bessie. She was very helpful and courteous. After she helped me then another lady she got a chair and went to sit down. She looked very pregnant so I didn't think anything of it. As this young lady went to sit down a manager, I believe she's a manager named Shannon started yelling at her to get up a d who the hell do you think you are to sit?! The lady checking out next to me needed more assistance was trying to get her attention, and instead walked past the lady needing help to join the other cashier named Shannon to yell at the pregnant redheaded lady. I didn't see the other ladies name tag. The one named Shannon was asking the redhead Betsy or Bessie how far along she was because she should quit if she has to go to the bathroom more than twice a shift or sit and that she will be counting her trips to the bathroom. And if she can't handle working while pregnant to just leave now. The redheaded lady looked like she was trying her best to not cry and then she told them to not yell so loud because of the customers and then went to help the lady next to me while the other two ladies just stood there popping thier gum and saying "Oh hell no, that white bitch ain't gonna get by with this fucking shit while I'm here." I asked the girl named Shannon for a manager to tell him or her how loud and rude those two girls were, then I was told Shannon was the manager then the other girl came over to me and asked if I had a problem. I told them yes and I didn't like the foul language and how they yelled at a co-worker in front of customers so loud that it went across the whole store. Shannon told me it was none of my business and to "Kick Rocks" I don't like confrontation so I just walked to the redhead and told her I was sorry how she was treated then I left. Just meh. The cart situation here is a complete joke. If you are lucky enough to find a cart that doesn't think you are trying to steal it and hasn't locked a wheel you will certainly get one with some kind of bad wheel. Reason enough to go elsewhere right there. Self checkout is a pain. The clerk hates you and has better crap to do than key in the override code without even looking at what caused the problem in the first place. I base that on body language and facial expression. Still a 2.5 cause it's clean and has a good selection. The meats and seafood are fresh and look good. Prices are above what others charge for much of whats offered but the quality seems pretty good consistently. If the basic experience wasn't so annoying then a solid 4 maybe 5 would be attainable. I am amazed that the cart situation is still a thing at a kroger of all places. I guess they simply do not care about the one part of the experience that %99 of their clientele will have to suffer through. read more

I love Kroger Marketplace. I stop here at least three times a week. The store is spacious and staff are friendly. There is so much to write about. Let's start with entering the store from the left set of doors. As you enter, you come directly to the floral and produce departments. There are staff making fresh bouquets of flowers throughout the day. There is a large selection of produce with no less than two staff members restocking the fruits and vegetables. Continuing on, we have a Starbucks that is always busy. The deli section has so many choices of Boars Head meats and you can get fresh deli sandwiches. There is a sushi bar, a food bar with different varieties of fresh cooked meals (which change daily), prepared subs and wraps, olive bar, and a salad bar. In the same area is a gourmet cheese counter with so many types of cheeses to choose from. Just around the "cheese department" is an actual bar (a growler bar) that serves a variety of local beers and wines. You can bring in your own growler, sample the beers, and then have your growler filled. How awesome is that! Moving towards the back corner of the store is the bakery (with awesome cakes), seafood, and meat departments. Along the back wall of the store the meat department blends in to the dairy and perishable department. If you follow along the back wall, it takes you to the pet food area in the corner. Make a right going towards the front of the store is a small toy area then office supplies, and health/beauty for many aisles which leads you to the pharmacy and a small health clinic. Now we are at the front corner of the store opposite of the produce/deli area. Here, next to the other main entrance is a Fred Meyers jewelry store. Along the store front are the cash registers and help desk going towards the produce department. In the middle of the store are your typical aisles. But I like how they are arranged. It is very easy to find what you are looking for and there are a lot of sections based on different ethnic cuisine. There is also an appliance and kitchen area and then a nice beer aisle close to the bar. And yes...you can pick your own six pack with a wide selection of bottled beer! In the center of the aisles is the frozen food section. Beyond that are the paper products, cleaning supplies and other home utility items. There is also an organic section close to the help desk. Finally, there is a clothing section for men women and children to include a fitting room. I have actually bought quite a bit of clothing from here. And it is all good quality. Kroger also carries Carthart apparel. This store has it all. I'll go with my wife and while she is shopping, I'll sit at the bar and have a pint of beer. This store is comparable to Wegman's but I think the growler station is what help beat out Wegman's (in my opinion). read more

I love Kroger, and I love this location. But their grocery pickup is awful. Every time I receive my groceries something is missing, I have extra of something I didn't order or they give me more produce than I asked for. Today, I ordered 2 Yukon potatoes and received about 5 or 6 and was charged 5 dollars for them, I ordered one Roma tomato and received 5. I was still charged more whenever I only wanted one. It's a great location but the online grocery needs help. Expect to wait as well, even if you showed up first, other cars will get their groceries before you do! All of this was extra that I've received from Kroger. Luckily we found someone to take it! read more

I think Kroger has become my all time favorite grocery store. Before this marketplace opened though, I wasn't all too familiar with the store but now, now it's my jam. First, the produce is always fresh looking and they have a fairly good organic selection. Second, there's a comparatively (than any other grocery store) large healthy food section. It's about 3 half aisles towards the front of the store (in front of the cigarettes, ironic - right?). The best thing though is he deli. That deli fried chicken is amazing. I want to tell you about my experience today. I was shopping at this Kroger store and I have many times. Today I put my wallet and phone in the bottom of the cart under my groceries, checked out pulling my wallet out, but inadvertently left my phone in the bottom of the cart. I was talking to my husband on Bluetooth when I drove away the Bluetooth disconnected. I went back to the carts and there was a cart handle there. I asked if he seen my phone. He said he didn't, but everytime I drove or walked away from him my Bluetooth disconnected. So at this point I know he has it. So I followed him in the store and said listen we are going to customer service and calling the manager. Turns out my phone ended up on top of cart vs inside it. You all be the judge. I normally went to Walmart to grocery shop before they built this store in my neighborhood and i haven't gone to Walmart ever since. This store has everything you need from food to clothes. They have an excellent deli section and they actually have a craft beer bar in the store. There prices are comparable to Walmart but here the more you shop the more fuel points you get to save on gas with. The staff are always friendly and help. Kroger is my spot! They have everything (almost everything) I need. Usually Kroger has it all but during the pandemic they are out of a lot of things like toilet paper, etc. I haven't been able to find chicken wings at Kroger either. Other than that, I've been at Kroger pretty much every day planning meals for my family and staying alive lol. It's usually pretty packed when I go because people can't really go anywhere else so we all end up in the supermarket thinking about what to eat next. I don't really use ClickList like I used to. Before the pandemic, I rarely set foot in a Kroger. I would just pick up my groceries from ClickList and be on my way. Since covid however, the time slots for ClickList are few and far between. I tried placing an order on a Friday morning and the earliest time a lot available to pick up my order was Monday afternoon. At this time, it's quicker to just go inside. Can't wait until ClickList comes back to his normal state! It'll save me from some unnecessary purchasing again! read more

I enjoy walking through this store. The flowers appear to be fresh along with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. The bakery and sea food area always lays their food in such an inviting way. Then to the dishes area, around to the grocery isles. Then my favorite, the seasonal area. I enjoy the rest, but these the most. read more

It's massive, its clean, there is a bar inside, wine selection is huge, beer selection is huge, prices are great. I was at Krogers and one of the employees accused me of not paying for my items . On the self checkout machine , I choose By card. Then, I hit credit card on the touch screen app and put my card in and left . After that , the employee told me to go back and claimed that I did not swipe my card . I explained the employer that I did swipe my card on the self checkout machine and told her that it was approved so I took my card out . If the employer had not been talking to the other co workers and saw that I had swiped my card she would have known that my card went through instead of trying to accuse me of stealing and claiming that I had not swiped my card. It's a shame that lately when you go into Kroger's you can't get anyone to assist you for the self checkout areas . But the employees are around there talking in groups . After the employee accused me of not swiping my card she called the security guard. The security guard was very nice and understanding after I told him that I already swiped my card . It would be nice if the Krogers employees for the self checkout area would stop talking to other coworkers and lolly Gagging if they are going to always accuse someone of not paying . read more

There's courteous and professional behavior for the most part, great parking options, the store is clean and bright, and there's good produce and product options (especially international and seafood options compared to other grocery stores in the vicinity.) The horrible experience I had at the Kroger in Virginia Beach (near Kempsville Road) made me write this review in appreciation. The staff is very prompt at resolving any issues or answering any questions and the managers seem to care about resolutions or offering great customer service. Also the butcher is friendly and will cut meats as requested. (I once had a whole Purdue chicken cut up for a stew by the butcher and repackaged for me to take home and cook. Scan and go is amazing. No need to use plastic bags, your items are pre bagged, you don't need to scan them again at self check out. The place is clean, the produce and meat good. scan and go is just the bonus that makes this place the only place worth shopping at. I will never go to Walmart again!!!!! Kroger is the best supermarket everrrrrr! It's always clean though partially because it's new yes but you can tell the employees do there job right and well.
