So this place is a cool find in Anoka. I don't know how long this has been and let alone a chain sandwich shop, but hurray for me. Ordered delivery from this Capriotti's because I very much had a hankering for a sandwich. Perusing the menu showed it could be difficult to make a selection. I would eat any of their sandwiches except the tuna. I could not make up my mind, so I ordered the Capastrami and the Bobbi. First, I will upon receiving these two sandwiches - they are large! I mean, really large. I ordered a small Bobbi, a medium Capastrami, and a regular order of fries (there were a ton of fries too). A small was almost too much for me, and the medium was certainly a shareable, or an eat half now, and eat the other half later in the week situation. The Sandwiches themselves were good. The Bobbi with the turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce was excellent. More importantly, they offered a side of gravy. That really put it over the top for me. Who doesn't like gravy, right? I dipped everything, including the mountain of fries, into the gravy (everybody in the pool!). Definitely ordering this one again if available. The Capastrami would have been amazing if I had been able to eat some of that from my delivery. Even the following day, it was terrific. For a chain deli, it is much better than the usual suspects we have for chain sandwich shops, and this one will be first on the list when I want a sandwich. read more

I love a good sandwich shop and was excited to see this new place open on Main Street just east of DTA. So I stopped in for lunch while running errands in Riverdale. Plenty of parking available for this corner shop. Walking in the place looked clean and industrial (like Chipotle, concrete and steel). The older lady at the register was helpful with placing my newbie order. They would call my name once it was ready. I also saw a spot for online orders for pickup. And I think there's a drive through window behind the front counter, although my order did take about 10-15 mins... so a slow drive through. There was a cooler for bottle beverages but also a self serve soda fountain. The dining area had a big round table that could accommodate a larger group, 1 square table for 4, 5 rectangle tables for pairs (or slide together for 4) and long high bar style top along a wall where you can look out the window. I ordered the Small 8" classic Cheesesteak sandwich meal (fries and drink). I would have to say this is the best Cheesesteak I've ever had. Good flavor, good texture with the steak (not too chewy), cheese was nicely melted throughout (not squirted on top), good balance of onions/mushrooms. The bread held its own... wasn't too chewy or soggy. I didn't know if I wanted hot or sweet peppers so I asked for them on the side. My nose said "nope" to both so I left them off. Subs come in mini (4"), small (8"), medium (10") and large (18"). A small 8" sandwich is almost too much. **After I posted this, I saw an ad on FB...interesting algorithm there. They have $9.99 deal: 4" mini sub, half salad and side/ drink. You can choose your side for the meal and I ordered fries. **This option is unique. Usually only chips are offered. Fries gives Jon Smith Subs vibes. JSS in Andover closed over 5 years ago and I still miss them. I got a gift card in my purse I can't use. ** Fries were long, fried to a golden crunch, and soft potato inside. Served hot and salty. Capriotti's advertises themselves as 'The best sandwich in America'. I would be curious as to who the voters were? I had the turkey sandwich. I can say it was not the best sandwich I have ever had. The meat was not slices but rather large pieces of turkey. I don't think the meat was bad, just not very flavorful. The jury is still out as to whether or not I will go back to try another sandwich to test their claim as having the best sandwich. read more

We were excited to check out this new spot in Anoka! We stopped in on a Sunday night around 7:30 and it seems they still have some growing pains but show promise. My dad got the hot Bobbie and I got the French dip. We also got an order of fries. After we ordered we were told that hot sandwiches would be about a 30 minute wait which was longer than we expected but we decided to wait. The worker taking our order was helpful with deciding what to get or what to add on. There were several tables inside to eat but most were filled with people just waiting for their food. It probably took about 30 minutes to get the food. Because the hot sandwiches take so long, our fries were already cold when we got our food. However, I do enjoy this style of fry as they have that crunchy coating on them so I still thought they were great but would be amazing fresh. My French dip was good and I loved how peppery the meat was but I always think French dips could use more cheese. My dad got the hot Bobbie which I thought he would love as a thanksgiving sandwich is right up his alley. I took a bite as well and we both agreed the flavor was great but it could use more cranberry as it didn't come through as much as we wanted. Unfortunately, at the end of his sandwich he found a turkey bone. Luckily it was his last couple of bites so there seemed to only be the one but this is definitely something they'll need to be more mindful of. My dad lives in the area and said he would try it again! First time trying this place, ordered via phone for pickup which was told would take 25 mins (actually took about 35). Tried the American Waygu French Dip and Capastrami, both were very good in terms of flavor, serving size and quality of ingredients. The au jus was very good, a little on the salty side. The service was fine - everyone was super friendly - we were greeted immediately with a smile and a hello which was so nice. Apparently this location still hasn't "worked out the kinks." For someplace that's been open for nearly six months, they struggled with even a moderate lunch rush. I stood for over 10 minutes watching the folks working the cold sandwich board and could not believe how slow and inefficient they were. There were only two orders ahead of me when I arrived and it took nearly a half hour to get my food. I didn't see any sign of a manager or supervisor directing them. Staff was repeatedly looking around trying to find ingredients that should have been in the board. And they kept working on multiple sandwiches at once, and getting confused over which was which. It was painful for me to watch, since I've worked in sandwich shops before. I had to stop myself from criticizing or coaching them openly. It's too bad, since the food was good. Although I do think that the signature use of "American Wagyu" is overrated. It's good, but since it's roasted and sliced, you don't really get any of the unctuousness that Wagyu is known for. A place with quality food like this really needs to focus on getting the staff trained to handle a normal lunch rush.
