I came for fastnacht day and they didn't disappoint! It was extremely efficient with a line around the corner I only waited like 15 minutes tops and that includes how long I waited once I ordered. The fastnacht was the only option they do for the day but they were yummy! To think I may live closer soon...I may become a regular lol. Overall, I definitely recommend. This place is a diamond in the ROUGH, my friends. The donuts could not be better. They're fluffy, yet dense. Full of flavor. I got coconut crepe twists, as well as a chocolate cake donut and a chocolate long john, and they were all the same: DELICIOUS. What's better is that they're all under $1. I think I paid $3.50 for 6 donuts--unheard of!!! I really could go on and on about them. They also have apple fritters, Bavarian creme, raspberry filled, and an assortment of other options, including classic glazed. They've also got milk and other beverages to choose from. The place is a diamond isn't eh rough mainly because it's located in a back alley and there is no seating. You go through the door, order, get your donuts, and either take them home or eat them outside in the alley. But really, what's better than eating mad-good donuts in an alley with friends? If you are visiting the area and have time in the evening to go by (hours are 7 to 11 PM), it's worth getting these donuts for the experience alone. A family tradition since the 1930s!! The address is on Maryland Ave, but you turn onto W First St and then turn right down the first alley you come to...look for the DoNut Alley and "man serving donuts" street signs (loved that!). Here's a fantastic little off-hours discovery: Krumpe's DO-Nut Shop. It's somewhat of a midnight snacker's dream. There wasn't a soul in sight driving through this moonlit industrial looking area in Hagerstown. Then, a short drive down a small dark alley aptly named "Donut Alley" revealed a bright neon sign beaming the word: OPEN. Who is this Krumpe? It includes generations of donut makers which began with Mother Krumpe in the early 1900s. Now, Grandpa Krumpe's photo is on the wall, while Papa and Son Krumpe continue the donut making tradition today. As first timers to the store we were offered a free glazed donut. So tasty. The store is only open from 7pm until 2am. We stopped in after midnight and saw several customers including regulars come in for their late night donut fixes. I am going to be completely honest. I can totally see the reason this place has 5 stars. It's most likely the best spot to get donuts in the Hagerstown, md area. However, being that I eat a lot of these tasty treats in huge major cities, I have had real donuts. I would not consider this a five star donut shop. The town is very old and I believe the people in the city appreciate it much more than people outside of the city (who have tried donuts elsewhere). So if you have had real delicious donuts before then I assure you it will not be 5 stars in your book. I do have to mention that the donuts are super cheap! It's a little less than 4$ for half a dozen donuts. I mean in DC I pay 4$ for one donut. So considering the cheap price it's worth the eat. read more

Krumpe's is located on Donut Alley in Hagerstown. If you are not from the area, use GPS, because it is an actual alley. They do have specific hours, so check the website in advance. Krumpe's has been around for over 80 years. So it is a Hagerstown staple for sure. The donuts are always fresh (hence the specific hours of operation). They are light and fluffy and awesome when you can get them hot. I highly recommend the donut holes. Definitely my favorite! Although they do have different kinds of donuts to choose from. They will be happy to cater your events, just ask. They participate in several local events throughout the year including a marathon and a donut drop for NYE. read more

Going to Krumpes is something that takes me back to my childhood. My parents used to take me and my brothers to dinner every Friday night, and then we would go stand in line to order donuts to take home to eat while we watched a movie. That became a tradition and something that we very much looked forward to for well over a decade. As I have gotten older, I have noticed changes to those once scrumptious donuts. Not only has the price doubled, yeah... I get it... inflation... BUT- the price doubled, but the donuts shrank. They are probably 3/4 of the size they used to be. I am probably in the minority here...because everyone in Hagerstown seems to LOVE Krumpes.... But I just do not. I would much rather go to Krispy Kreme! I love chocolate iced donuts, but there is no comparison between a glazed KK chocolate iced donut, to Krumpes chocolate iced twist. AND - any time that I do eat a donut from Krumpes, it feels like my mouth has been coated with grease (guess it's the lard that is used to fry the donuts) and that doesn't happen with KK! read more

Cute hometown donut shop. They have a small variety of donuts and they're all made fresh that day - it shows. The donuts are VERY small, about 3 bites for a donut but that's perfect for me because I don't eat a lot of sweets. I wish the hours were a LITTLE bit longer, as I usually can't get there in time to get anything but the few items they have left at the end of the night because of my work schedule. They pretty much never have my favorite flavor anytime past 9pm - the chocolate donut. They have cool monthly and weekly donut flavor features - everything is good, it's cheap, and service is quick and friendly. Pulling up there was a line out the door (granted there isn't much room to stand inside of the building) but we got our donuts in under ten minutes! Every time a costumer opened the door the smell of donuts made my mouth water. I'm not the biggest donut fan but these donuts are worth it for anyone that's nearby! They have a great flavor, a crisp outside, and a fluffy middle. The peanut butter donut was my favorite. The peanut butter used for this donut was very smooth and added to the texture the donut provided. Not to mention I got a dozen donuts for $6.80. Great deal! Great food! Great place! Only thing to look out for is the hours. They are only opened 7:00 pm to 2:00 am everyday except Saturday. You can't beat the prices and quality of their donuts. It's located on a back alley, and there isn't a TON of parking, but cars were constantly moving and arriving so we had no problems. I am not sure if it was an off night or maybe due to covid but they had zero cake donuts (not sold out, just not available) so that took about 4 donuts off the menu. We tried a strawberry, peanut butter and cream filled, they were fresh but no flavor. They were smaller than expected and there was pretty much no filling in the cream filled. Krumpe's is a hometown staple of sorts. This family-owned business has been around for as long as I can remember. It is very rare to speak with someone from Hagerstown who hasn't heard of Krumpes. A lot of people that I know loves Krumpes. I happen to not like them as much as other people from this area. Could this be that Krumpes was one of the first places around here where you could walk in and see food items being prepared? Is it because it is owned by a local family? It could be a combination of the two, I'm not sure. So- what is it that brings people back to Krumpes? It isn't the taste, or even the size of the donuts. The donuts are definitely 3/4 of the size they used to be, but are now more expensive. I can't eat one of the glazed donuts without feeling like I have a film of grease in my mouth. I am rating Krumpes with 2 stars, solely because they are a local specialty shop, in which we need more of in the growing town of Hagerstown.
