The Farro & Quinoa salad had a little bit of a kick to it - they put a bit of spice into the dressing on the side. The prosciutto on the Green Eggs & Ham toast was fried a bit to make it crispy. Since this place had such high reviews, figured I'd try it out. My assessment is decent, don't think I'd go out of my way to eat here. I tried the Nashville shrimp burger, which took a little while to make but came out piping hot and fresh. Found it yummy but wasn't blown away by it either. Update: Lower to one star after getting into an altercation with the owner because he's upset at the previous 3 star review. Let's get into it: Right after posting my review the owner comes over, slaps the table, and says "thanks for the review." He then proceeds to take a picture of me and my husband and storms off to the back. After feeling uncomfortable with the fact that I was just taken a picture of, I request to speak to him. He tells the very kind waitress that he is unavailable, but my husband and I demand to speak with him about him taking a picture of us. He comes upstairs and says "I took a picture to make sure you guys have a better time next time, but because you want to be passive aggressive about it, you're no longer allowed in my restaurant. Get out." Though he seemed extremely dismissive I continued to speak to him in a calm manner to see what the issue was and said, "what do you mean by passive aggressive, you took a photo of us and I am uncomfortable with that." He then flipped the conversation back to the review and said "you don't give a restaurant 3 stars in the middle of a pandemic, you don't give me 3 stars!" After he said this he continued to be rude to us and demanded we left the restaurant. I'm sorry, but when did anyone deserve 5 stars just because? I pride myself on being unbiased and review based on MY likes and dislikes. My next visit might have been better and my rating might have changed, but that can't happen now that the owner banned us. I have no idea why it took me this long to visit Krupa Grocery, right here in my own neighborhood. Though I have known about this place for a few years now, it was only a few months ago that I checked to see if they had any vegan options, and even when I discovered that they did, it took me till tonight to set foot in there. A lot of places in Windsor Terrace don't even bother with vegan options, and then there are the places that have a token offering, and don't even get me started on the place a block from me whose menu proudly lists a "vegan burger" without mentioning that the bun itself is not vegan. grrrrr... Enter Krupa Grocery and their magnificent chicken fried tofu with farro fried rice, grilled pineapple, and chili garlic crunch. I was looking forward to this all day, and was wildly surprised by this unique and creative dish. Chunks of tofu wrapped in a crisp, light batter served on a bed of spicy and delicious farro fried rice, and a couple big chunks of grilled pineapple. This was so good! The service was fantastic, friendly, and fast, and the atmosphere was casual and fun. Exactly what I hope for from a place like this. My niece and her husband moved to Brooklyn from Florida a week ago. We decided to go see their new place in Park Slope and grab a bite to eat . They recommended this place because they had already eaten there once since their move-in said it was delicious. We went in and it was a darling fun and very hip little joint. It was super crowded so we sat at the bar. This place has a great little tap on the wall with lots of fun little beers, ciders, cold coffee etc. we ordered some drinks and got into a great conversation with our server who's name is Maddie. She was so accommodating and friendly and professional and welcoming that we just felt so at home here. We then got in a conversation with one of the owners and he was awesome, I don't remember his name. He told us great things about the restaurant and some other good places to eat which he didn't have to do. The competition ha ha... He then introduced his chef/cook to us who happened to be from Florida as well and his name was Peter Cook and we thought that was funny that he was the cook and his last name is Cook I ordered their grilled cheese sandwich which was simply fabulous along with these amazing fingerling potatoes. The food was outrageously good. My niece ordered a brunch dish with gnocchi and eggs that was fantastic. They also have a chicken sausage sandwich and a shrimp burger that were simply amazing. So what I'm going to say here is that there are so many great restaurants all over the five boroughs of New York city. Rarely do you get a place like this where the food is fantastic, the service was beyond impeccable and just the opportunity to have a great conversation with the owner and the chef and the service really made a huge difference in our experience. I imagine I will frequent this place when visiting my niece. She has only been in Brooklyn for six days and has been there twice already so I can already smell regular at the bar. So I'm shown the bar, but my waitress tells me I only have until 7 because even these seats are reserved! Wow popular place? It's ok I need to be someplace at 7 anyway. I order a glass of pino noir. It's good. Smooth I'm going light tonight. Ordered the Italian wedding soup and chicken tenders. They come quickly. Have to ask for bread, which is presented quickly. "No problem!" The soup is made with veggie meatballs, lacinato kale, Israeli couscous and Granada Padano. Nice and tasty. The chicken tenders with honey are delicious. The prices are a bit high, the soup is really a cup $12. The four chicken tenders pieces again $12. My waitress tries to sell me on an entree, scrimp burger, "it's delicious!" But I demure. I order another glass of the pino noir. I'm going to finish with an espresso . Ok the place has a nice vibe and the staff is trying hard to please. I often sing the praises of places that focus on a few things but do them exceptionally well. What to do then, with a place that does everything dazzlingly, exceptionally well? Krupa Grocery is that rare and special find. Since finding it, we've basically made a circuit of a day here, discovering it for brunch, coming back for dinner, then popping in for late night drinks/snacks, with each experience somehow leaping over the incredibly high bar they started us with. Brunch was great, from the essentials (great Bloody and coffee) to the delightful, Instagram AND taste-bud friendly Green Eggs & Ham (eggs on toast with pesto) and the lemon ricotta pancakes perfectly topped with whipped mascarpone, candied pecans and pure maple syrup. Dinner was an amazing experience as well. They had a special Roasted Tomatillo Gaspacho Soup, which was such an amazingly cool, fresh, garlicy treat--a perfectly refreshing summer offering. Their lamb burger is great, as is their Farro & Quinoa salad. This seems to be a menu constant I've had a couple of times with different, seasonal ingredients (e.g., asparagus, snap peas, grapes, almonds in late spring/summer) in a light lemon vinaigrette. It manages the rare feat of feeling light and healthy but still filling and hearty. My friend had the ricotta gnocchi, which he found light, fluffy and flavorful. Completing the trip around the horn, we stopped in for snacks and drinks late one night. The Chicken & The Egg (take on a deviled egg - pickled eggs filled with chicken liver pate and dusted with cacao nibs and mustard seed) was the standout, with amazing, complex flavors (and served with an excellent pickle selection to boot). It was so good, it made me sad to realize I had been here several times without ordering it, and vowed to never, ever make that mistake again. Finally, Krupa is just a great place to eat, but a fine place to drink as well. They feature thoughtful and diverse beer and wine lists. A lot of local beer options, but they really delighted me by having a rare and unique favorite, Cigar City's Cucumber Saison. Their cocktails are on point as well, with seasonal specialty cocktails (again, rotating seasonally), or just order their tasty celery seed simple soda and add some Hendrick's gin to it! I've tried and tried, but you really can't go wrong here. They even offer a late night happy hour. Every night 10p-close, $2 off every beer, glass of wine or well cocktail. I discovered Krupa about a month ago after a long walk in the park. My bf and I were ready to treat ourselves to brunch and after a quick Yelp search, Krupa looked most promising. At the time, the indoor tables were closed, but their backyard patio was open for dine-in. You place your order at the counter in the front and then are seated in the back. There were 5 tables total, roomy picnic-style tables, spread out, and each had its own space heater, which was perfect on that chilly afternoon. The food was good. My bf loved his burger. My ricotta toast was good, but I found the crispy prosciutto a little overpowering. The blood orange mimosa was insanely huge and looked equivalent to 2.5 normal flute-size mimosas. Normally when a cocktail is oversized like that it's because they're using bottom of the barrel prosecco, but this one honestly tasted great! I've done it again stumbled across a hidden gem. I was headed to a restaurant that I found online across the street. Parked the vehicle seen them, looked up the menu and my cousin and I decided this is where we need to be . The place was packed last Saturday evening. We were seated at the last available table in the backyard;luckily under a heated lamp that has different temperature settings. The staff was nice some more welcoming than others. Nice decor it's the perfect intimate setting for a date or small group gathering. The star of the night was the shrimp burger.I've never had anything like it so crispy on a soft bun and that cabbage slaw. I'll come back just for that. To start we ordered the "crispy" wings now they had really great flavor but too title them crispy on the menu when they gave more of a baked feel was a stretch lol. We also ordered the shishito peppers and shared a order of the salt and vinegar fried fingerling potatoes those were good. Overall great evening here and the cocktails are priced fairly. read more

I grew up around the corner from here so I remember when this was ACTUALLY Krupa Grocery (a dimly lit bodega with an excellent candy selection in the '90s) so I can't lie, it makes me a little sad to see this having become a hip brunch spot. But, I appreciate the nod in the name (its not like they forced the original out or anything) and I gotta admit they got some solid offerings on their menu. Perpetually crowded, I don't go to Krupa unless I have an out of town guest who's looking for something like this and I don't feel like schlepping up to Williamsburg. Besides the crowds, I find their menu to be kinda limited... a little too expensive for the simple stuff, and a little trying-to-hard for the rest of it. It's a matter of taste of course, and seeing how many people are in and out of this place on the reg obviously I'm in the minority with my opinion. But what Krupa does well, it does VERY well and I have come to the conclusion that the following are the stand out items on this menu: Lemon Ricotta pancakes that are the perfect amount of fluffy and sweet (not too sweet, not too dry). Their lamb burger is similarly perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of toppings that it doesn't overwhelm the burger itself - its perfectly complimented by everything, including the brioche bun. Their fried fingerlings are intense but really well done too. I also appreciate the Irving Farm coffee. Staff's always nice and accommodating too. Slightly more than I'm willing to pay for a normal spot, but still a pretty solid staple on Prospect Park West. read more

Krupa grocery is in a pretty good spot right outside of prospect park. It's a pretty small place, but I've never seen it so packed that you can't find a seat. They've got a pretty limited menu, but it is diverse enough to have something for everybody in your party. We got gnocchi and a burger. The gnocchi was delicious, and a good enough portion that we had leftovers. The burger (the double stack lamb burger) may have been one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Great neighborhood brunch place. I love the backyard seating area with heat lamps in the winter. My boyfriend and I came here on a weekend (recommend booking a table if you can as it can get pretty busy). We were seated at a nice, large bench in the very far corner of the backyard. I could've sat there for hours, sipping a hot cider. It was so comfortable and spacious. I was very tempted by the fondue, but ended up going more traditional with the breakfast gnocchi which is basically fried eggs with potato gnocchi, bacon bits, and some toasted breadcrumbs. The gnocchi was a lot more pillowy than what I'm used to. All in all, it was filling but not the GOAT brunch dish. I'd probably try something different next time. The salt cod croquettes were pretty nice as an appetizer but lacked unique flavors - ~3/5 The lamb burger has very unique flavors, but mine arrived at the table warm rather than hot and was small for $16. Very hip restaurant in south park slope. I've been here for dinner and brunch (last weekend). Both times I've been here I felt the food was wayyyy too salty. All I taste is salt. Also the portion size are quite small compared to other brunch spots. Grabbed dinner with friends at Krupa Grocery on Thursday night. With a fun atmosphere and excellent food, it was a great dinner. However, they could use a revamp of the cocktail menu. Quality: I left Krupa Grocery very happy with food, and pretty disappointed with drinks. During my visit I had two cocktails a terrible Blood Orange Arnold Palmer With Vodka, and an okay Hot Apple Cider With Maple Butter And Rum. If I was to return, I would likely stick with beer, which is a shame for a place that should look to maximize cocktails. For food, they knocked it out of the park. We started with the Salt Cod Croquettes, which came with a unique malt vinegar aioli, and the Krupa House-Made Chicken Nuggets, which are a must order. So delicate and tender, I also loved that they were served with honey. Early in our meal we also had a very good Ahi Tuna Crudo, where they nailed the sauce. For mains I split the Potato Gnocchi Bolognese, with a rich beef and pork sauce, and the incredible Nashville Hot Shrimp Burger. The Nashville Hot Shrimp Burger is the best item on the menu and should be apart of every meal. We also added on an Angus Beef Burger, which I felt was loaded with too many things, particularly a strong herb aioli, distracting from what could be a simple and tasty burger. Quantity: The drinks were extremely strong, to a fault. We ordered a bunch of dishes, which were all perfect for sharing. Value: $12-13 for a Cocktail. $10 for the Salt Cod Croquettes. $12 for the Krupa House-Made Chicken Nuggets. $14 for the Ahi Tuna Crudo. $24 for the Potato Gnocchi Bolognese. $15 for the Nashville Hot Shrimp Burger. $15 for the Angus Beef Burger. Ambiance: Krupa Grocery is located in Windsor Terrace, an area towards the bottom of Prospect Park. The restaurant has a very casual and fun feel to it. Inside they had a popular bar area as well as a row of tables. They have two patios, one out front and one in the back. Both are covered, but the one out front is still exposed to the elements. Since we had no reservations we ended up out front, which was fine, but it did cause us to miss out on the music and energy inside. Crowd: Reservations would be recommended because it is not a very large space. We were seated without one, but were lucky it was nice weather otherwise we would have been forced to wait. Service: Drinks were a little slow, but our food flew out of the kitchen. The waitstaff were helpful and made sure not to forget about us even though we were the only group out front. A few years later and I finally came back for dinner. The wings were out of this world and the bbq sauce was unreal. The mushroom soup was good, but nothing to write home about. The reason for my star deduction was the weird service. We were given multiple spoons to share soup... I mean, I appreciate the gesture, but no thanks. My incredibly picky daughter was with and I asked if I could just have bread for her. I was told they did NOT have bread, only toast. Again, super weird, but I just agreed to see if maybe she would try toast but I asked for it plain. Sure enough, it came doused in olive oil and garlic and she wouldn't even touch it. Excellent spot in Prospect Park South West. I've ordered from here a few times, but one Saturday, my girlfriend and I walked in and got a seat at their backyard patio. The patio was superb, and well constructed - it was raining and not one drop fell on us. I digress..back to the food. We got wings, the double stack lamb burger and chicken l-fried tofu. The wings were very well made, and the dipping sauce was excellent. The Lamb burger was a clear winner. Every bite was just perfect, and the garlic aioli sauce was tremendous. A very satisfying burger. My girlfriend's chicken-fried tofu was crispy, and the tofu wasn't crumbly or bitter - which means it was fresh and cooked well. The farro salad was simply outstanding! Second time going here, second time was on New Year's Day. For some reason, I thought everyone would be too hungover for brunch. I was wrong, once we got there we were told the wait was 1hr. We decided to wait by grabbing coffer at Connecticut Muffin. The host / perhaps manager kept us posted throughout the waiting period by calling us which was awesome. When we got back we were immediately seated and we received some Shishito peppers to munch on. My friend and I split the chicken sausage sandwich which was perfect for us two. I did a takeout order from here during the COVID pandemic and had a great experience. They have around 2 tables outside, but I did takeout since I wanted to bring the food to the nearby Prospect Park. I got the Nashville Hot Shrimp Burger which was amazing. Very crispy, flavorful and the pickles / coleslaw they put on it added a lot to it. I also got the fingerling potatoes, and they were very crispy and cooked perfectly. I would recommend getting the full size of the fingerling potatoes especially if you are sharing with another person. I also got the Pear Seltzer since it was part of their Happy Hour drinks, and thought it was a nice summer drink but would come here more for the food. Would definitely recommend this place to pickup food. They actually have a Prospect Park picnic special which probably would be perfect if you had 3-4 people and wanted to go to the park. read more

Went back! Cheese plate was again a win, with a nice variety of three cheeses accompanied by honey, candied nuts, and fruit. Star of the dinner was the tender, delectable arctic char, served with a deliciously sweet corn puree. The farro bowl with tuna was okay, but nothing to write home about--it could have benefited from a little more of a punch/spring in its step/bite. I didn't like the chicken and the egg appetizer as much as the chicken liver mousse from last time, as it didn't really include a deviled egg, but rather what seemed like a beet-dyed egg with chicken liver inside the center/yolk spot.
