Krystal very luckily had a rare opening to do my hair and makeup for my wedding when my original hair and makeup artist got sick a few days prior. My original artist recommended her and vouched that she is one of the best, and was not wrong! Even though it was super last minute, Krystal made time to do a trial run a couple days in advance even after a long work day, and even tried her best to find a time that worked well for me given the tight schedule before my wedding. During the trial, Krystal helped guide me to a hair and makeup look that would suit me best and feel comfortable for the day of. We tried some different styles (hair styles, layers of lashes, etc) and were able to give insight on what styles would suit me personally. In the end she left enough room for me to think on things and speak up about what I prefer, but also give her professional input. She was incredibly thoughtful and sweet and nailed the look I wanted (even things I didn't know I wanted)! On the day of my wedding, Krystal was timely and my hair and makeup looked great. I got my eyebrows microbladed by Krystal and I absolutely love them! This is my first time getting my eyebrows done so of course, i had a bunch of questions and anxiety about it but Krystal was the sweetest person about the whole thing. This is a long overdue review - I am not sure why I have not given Krystal Art a review on Yelp yet. I had worked with multiple makeup artists in the past and Krystal is by far the best. She is efficient/prompt, professional, and responsive to messages as well. She has a shared studio in a quieter area of Sunnyvale, parking is street parking and very convenient. I have had two visits with Krystal in the past - the first appointment was for hair and makeup for my costume (Mulan inspired makeup) for a party and photoshoot after work and the second appointment was originally for microblading (she suggested ombre brows/ombre shading, since I had previously done microblading before in the past and wanted to retouch them). Regarding the makeup, my party was after work and I came before work and the makeup lasted great during my shift (I received so many compliments for my makeup from everyone), Krystal made sure she finished on time so that I had time to commute to work and she used a setting spray to help my makeup look fresh until my party and photoshoot later at night). Regarding my brows, I never heard of the concept of ombre brows/ombre shading before, so she explained the differences to me. Krystal is very customer-oriented because she makes sure that she does what is best for the client, we are on the same page, and we are happy with our results - she is also honest about what she can and cannot do, which I appreciate. I had received A LOT of compliments for both the makeup and my ombre brows as well. Side notes: There was a costume contest at the party and I won first place for the best costume and makeup. Using Krystal for my COVID wedding was such a sweet gift. I ended up paying the extra cost for a makeup/hair trial which I HIGHLY recommend. She was patient and willing to try out multiple hairstyles to completion so that I could see and decide how I'd like my hair on my wedding day. She showed me multiple styles for my makeup which was helpful for me because I don't know much about makeup, so it's difficult for me to answer questions like "What kind of makeup do you want?" "Do you like darker or lighter shades?" "Do you like dramatic or natural wings?", but having Krystal show me different styles helped me to choose. Krystal is talented and has a lot of experience. She has done makeup for fashion shows and wedding makeup for many, many years and her experience is so helpful for calming you on your day of! You are in good hands if you hire Krystal as your hair/makeup artist. For COVID, Krystal did two tests: one before our trial and one before our wedding day and she informed us of her negative results which was also calming for us to know. She still wore masks and sanitized all brushes beforehand. She has a very warm and sweet demeanor. She's lovely to be around. Scheduling with her was easy as well. She communicated quickly via email (less than a day to respond). I had many questions and she responded to every single one of them graciously! My makeup and hair held up the entire day even after multiple ceremonies (2 tea ceremonies and one church ceremony). It looked great in all sorts of lights - indoor, outdoor. Let me just start by saying what a PERFECTIONIST Krystal is! Wow. I was amazed by her entire process from beginning to end. I have been debating on getting my eyebrows microbladed and/or shaded for YEARS now. But because it is a semi-permanent procedure, it was a decision I did not take lightly. I finally decided to go through with it. Krystal's previous works really helped to reassure me. I was greeted warmly upon entering the salon. She made me feel right at home (even though I was hours away from home). We started off by cleaning the eyebrow area and sketching on the desired shape. She patiently explained every step clearly and informed me about the differences between shading (ombre brows) and microblading. She was very honest and opened about the pros and cons for each option. I decided to do a mixture of both techniques. I knew we were off to a beautiful start the second I got to see my brows after she penciled them in. They were already so beautiful and even, I wish she could just draw them on everyday for me. LOL It was so perfect! But that's also the beauty of microblading + shading. I can wake up to beautiful brows like that all the time. Of course, I approved of the shape and size. We proceeded to the next step. Now, if pain is a big issue for you, I wouldn't worry about a thing. Krystal was very gentle. She is also super sweet and attentive, asking me often if I was feeling okay throughout the procedure. She does numb the eyebrows beforehand, and it helps significantly! I honestly didn't feel a thing. The scariest part was probably the scraping sound that you hear. But as far as pain goes, I honestly didn't feel a thing while she was working on them. The only discomfort you may feel comes much later when the numbing cream wears off. Then it feels like a sunburn. Still, nothing major. Even if it did hurt, I'd do it all over again because THE RESULT IS WELL WORTH IT! Beauty can be a pain, girlfriend. But you will be just fine. My brows have been fully healed for over a month now, and I am just so pleased with them. The only thing I'm mad at is MYSELF for having waited this long to go through with it. I could've have had eyebrows on point all day everyday much sooner. But I'm glad I waited for the right artist. Krystal pays very close attention to small details and she takes her time to get every little thing right. She is there for her clients to help them make an informed decision. She is super friendly, knowledgable, and professional. She maintains a very clean and sanitary work station with a comfortable environment. I'm so excited and happy with my eyebrows. A couple of tips from me if you haven't done extensive research on this procedure: -don't be afraid to go darker. The color tones down SIGNIFICANTLY. -your eyebrows may look very patchy or even scary until after your touch up. Be patient! read more
