What a wonderful experience! The wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night, and the moment we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly staff members. We were sat at a table within two minutes, and promptly greeted by a gentleman pouring us water, and our server Adalberto. The layout of the restaurant and the ambience that it creates is top notch. It is very tropical in nature, with natural outdoor tones, and bamboo, and lots of plants and ceiling fans. Thankfully their AC kept the place nice and cool. Adalberto was very friendly and very helpful in guiding us through the menu and helping us select cocktails, appetizers and our main dish. The food was delicious, and the cocktails expertly crafted. This was an excellent experience, and we look forward to coming back to try different menu items. Ps... Give yourself enough time to find parking. I'm a big fan of Peruvian food. At first, the name "Jaguar" threw me off since I don't usually associate jaguars with Peru. I'd be curious to know the story behind it. After years of walking the grove and just looking inside this place I'm very disappointed with myself that I hadn't walked in here earlier. I recently went to a wedding reception here and the Latin American food that I had definitely has a new place in my heart. The smoked fish croquettes made me rethink what croquettes are suppose to be from how delicious, big and filling they were. I recently went back in for their ceviche class, and have come back a few times since because it's SO good. Ate at Jaguar on a Saturday morning, and it was surprisingly empty at 11am for brunch. However, it started filling up around 12/12:30pm. The actual restaurant is huge with a bar and plenty of indoor seating, but there are also a few tables outside. I ordered the Yucatan Breakfast and Fruit Plate off the brunch menu, and both were delicious! The pork came out piping hot, and several of the waiters warned me not to touch the cast iron skillet. It also came with a side of tortillas and guac. For $15, I found the portion size to very reasonable! The fruit plate had an assortment of 7 different fruits, including red dragonfruit, pineapple, and kiwi. The staff here was great. Dinner here was great. We came.as a family for another birthday celebration. We were a party of 10 and made reservations prior so we were seated right away. We all had had drinks of either pisco sours, margaritas, whisky, and bottles of red and white. All complimented our meals. We started off with the cheese empanadas which were fabulous, chips and salsa ( chips perfectly salted and salsa was blended so it was more of liquid than chunky form which went well). We also had the black market ceviche. It is an absolute must. I could've eaten it like a bowl of cereal it was so good! Around the table was salmon nora, chauffeur rice (with beef), churassco, mahi tacos, and steak tacos. Silence around the table. Everything was so good and worth multiple visits. We ordered the cheesecake for the birthday girl, that was absolutely delicious and had this cookie that gave it an extra crunch. Everyone's meal left everyone with smiles and pleasantly satisfied. I went to Jaguar back in June and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. All I can say is...CEVICHE!!!! I mean, it's what the restaurant is known for, but holy goodness. I started with the Mexico over Melon...anything watermelon and lychee is a go to for me...the mezcal was an interesting touch as I don't typically go for a smoky flavor but I was curious. It was good! Wouldn't order it a second time, though. As for J, he got the Pisco Sour which I recall him thoroughly enjoying. We went in with a plan. We knew we're going to order 2 ceviches....but after the two arrived we opted for another 2 because they were just that delicious. My favorite was the peruano- we ended up with two orders of it. The citrus of the lime paired with the corn was insane. We also tried the vuelve a la vide, and traditional oriental. They were all to die for and had their own unique flavor profiles that made them shine individually. I don't know what we were thinking ordering more, but of course we needed to try some meat! I went with the pork pernil. I remember it being tasty- and the yuca fries in the guava were such an interesting combo. J got the churrasco and enjoyed it but we were so incredibly full from the ceviche that we didn't even make a dent. The ambiance here was a 10, food was a 10, service was a 10, company was a 100! If we ever return to the Coconut Grove area we will DEFINITELY be back for round 2! read more

After a Saturday morning run, my friend and I decided to try this place out. We chose to dine outside, had we been dry we probably would have chosen to eat inside as the restaurant really is beautifully decorated. We were told we missed their brunch menu by a week-so sad! Next week they'll be rolling it out on the weekends. (So we'll just have to come back to try it). We ordered from their regular menu, which is extensive. It was difficult to decide what to order as every dish sounded delicious. After much debate, my friend and I decided we would split two dishes, the Lomo Saltado and the Arroz con Mariscos-mixto (which came with tuna, shrimp, calamari, and octopus). Both were large portions, we definitely had leftovers. The arroz con mariscos really had a healthy portion of seafood. But I really enjoyed the Lomo. The Flan de queso was also very tasty! I'm going to start out by saying I'm really surprised reading some of these negative reviews! I came here one weekday afternoon with a girlfriend and had excellent service and loved all the food. To drink I wasn't sure if I wanted the lychee mojito or the coconut mojito and my server was so kind and said she can get me a mojito with a mix of both! Like what? Above and beyond right there! The queso hit the spot and it took everything in me not to lick the sauce off the plate of the ceviche oriental! The fish croquettas were so good we literally inhaled them! Coming to Jaguar for my friend's birthday was a great experience. Walking in, you feel Jaguar's upscale vibe. It was a place you could take a picture anywhere, and the background would be great. The front-of-the-house staff were amiable and pleasant. I did not have to wait for a table very long. It was also very cool that I was able to sit at my table before the entire party arrived. Once the part arrived, we got to order. Our waiter took excellent care of us, no doubt about it. I ordered the chicken costeño, which tasted very fresh. The jerk spice Aioli sauce was the perfect pairing for this dish. I highly recommend it. I think the only downside was the portions of the dish were kinda small, essentially that my protein was a rotisserie chicken. Otherwise, I recommend coming here for a nice lunch date or if this is stop #1 of your date night. read more

I went to Jaguar this weekend with some girlfriends for a girls' night out. The food was good (for the most part), but we weren't fans of the drinks. Here's what we tried: a spicy margarita (which we sent back because it was way too sweet), a passion fruit margarita (5/10), two passion fruit mojitos, and a Paloma Sour (in my opinion, the only decent drink). That said, the service was absolutely spectacular. Our server was incredibly kind and made sure to ask for feedback so they could improve anything we didn't like. For food, we ordered: the Ceviche Vuelve a la Vida (AMAZING), the Peruvian ceviche, and the fried calamari, which we all agreed was the best dish--so much so that we ordered another round! The queso fundido was also very tasty. Two dishes we didn't love: the fish croquettes (which were more like fish meatballs ) and the steak tacos. They weren't bad, just unremarkable. At the end of the meal, our server graciously gifted us a tres leches dessert, which we all fought over--it was hands down the star of the night and one of the best we've ever had! In conclusion, I'd consider going back for the food, but the drinks definitely need improvement. It's not the best spot for a ladies' night out. read more

Tried the Shrimp Appetizer (like a ceviche), Lomo Saltado, and for dessert Flan de Queso (Cheese Flan). All for a price of $35. Not including drinks of course. The reason I gave Jaguar a 4 and not a 5 is because the Lomo Saltado was too salty for me and was drinking lots of water in between bites. But everything else was marvelous. I visited this place twice this week, when I first saw this place I told myself "This place seems like it's super expensive". Well let me tell you, I was wrong. The items on the menu are perfectly priced. Both times we visited we went during happy hour times. Drinks are good , well priced between $5-9 depending on what you decide to get. And all the apps that are on the happy hour menu go for $8. Their food is EXTREMELY flavorful & their cocktails as well.
