There is one beautiful Japanese beckoning cat, (maneki-neko) which adjacent to the cash register. Peach Oolong tea, medium $5.70 My order was correctly fulfilled with 30% sugar and request for a lot of ice. Kung Fu Tea has my favorite topping grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 which refers to as "herbal jelly." Toppings are priced $0.75. It was refreshing and pure joy for calm before the storm prior to a manic work week ahead. My progress for struggle moves moderately in my Sisyphean Task. Ice tea was soothing my mind. Customer service is average. Upon entering there was an immediate line as customers crowd the foyer area undecided. There is no menus hanging displayed anywhere including the cash wrap. The sales associate instructed me to use the ordering kiosk where the menu can be viewed. Woman, there is a big fat long line for that one measly ordering kiosk machine to use! Nevertheless, I ordered my standard default drink without viewing their menu. My drink did not take long for fulfillment, but the physical appearance was surely either a culinary or a libation oddity for the light brown color that resembles brown sugar. (I did not choose nor request brown sugar). Oolong tea is a traditional semi-oxidized Chinese tea in dark color, but certainly not black tea. The ice sustained my drink's coldness as the condensation was sweating throughout my long-haul MTA NYC Transit bus ride home. I did obtain my sales receipt and drink label which replicates Starbucks' drink labels affix to their paper cups for coffee and plastic cups for tea. This business is accessible by MTA NYC Transit M and R local trains at Grand Avenue- Newtown subway station. Ordered one drink here through the app, waited patiently while multiple people came in after me, ordered multiple drinks at the register and got them before me. It wasn't until I came up to the window 15 minutes after the time the app told me it would be ready, that I saw my drink half poured in the back, and the guy went to make it. There were three guys working and none of them asked me my name or order even though there was nobody else waiting that did not get their drink and the store is tiny. I've been to other locations of Kung Fu Tea as well. They are a very solid bubble tea chain and one of the best in NYC. This particular location is very cramped and is more of a grab and go kind of place. It still has the same great quality though. Other than the standard milk teas and fruit teas, Kung Fu Tea is worth a try just because they actually have some unique offerings. They have slushie drinks like a taro slush and an oreo slush. Generally speaking, Kung Fu Tea scores 5, which is a huge compliment, considering that it's a massive international corporate chain, whose milk teas don't match up to the best chains: Sharetea, Gong Cha, Tea Top, and Coco. However, they're still really good, and the fruit teas here are among the best. Especially the lemon black tea which absolutely rocks my world. If it's not on the menu, demand it! Other fruit teas (Orange, Grapefruit, Pineapple) must also be ordered off-menu as Black Tea instead of the meh Green. Also the Lemon Black tastes good as a Lemon Oolong, but everyone else hates it because they have bad taste. I feel like I came to this KFT a very long time ago, but my most recent visit was much more enjoyable because I hung out here and the employees were great and the location is tucked on a back street off Broadway (the aptly named Justice) in the heart of Elmhurst, which is Latin Queens, but has a lot of flavour from many other cultures. And while parking is a nightmare, my experience here was anything but. The excellent drink, the lovely decor, and the even better service mean there's no way this isn't 5 stars. I tried their crispy fried chicken and asked for it spicy. The skin wasn't too crispy but the inside was tender, for $5 or so bucks as a small side snack to your bubble tea I think it's solid. We parked at a free metered parking space on a Sunday about 3 blocks away from Queens Center mall and our plan was to go shopping first and then get some bubble tea from this spot (a Kung Fu Tea yay!) afterwards since it was on the same block as our parking space so it would be very convenient later. We've been to 3 of their other locations before and they never disappoint. We arrived here around 2 pm and there was not even 1 customer in this spot. There were 3 employees working (2 males and 1 female) and the 1 male took our order while the female made the drinks. Pricing was under $8 dollars for 2 medium sized drinks (we got the KF bubble milk tea and taro slush). The drinks turned out really good and satisfied our sweet cravings. The best part of this bubble tea place is the 2 different types of sweet panda bubbles (black + white bubbles). I feel their bubbles are one of the best out of all the chain bubble tea spots that we have went to. This location is really convenient and super accessible from the M and R train. It boasts some seating as compared to the other branches in queens. We got the sunshine pineapple and passion fruit green tea , both delicious and refreshing but the sunshine pineapple was the real winner. Oh important to note both of them we asked for 50% sugar. The pineapple was light and refreshing and definitely perfect for that hot afternoon that we visited. The best bubble tea in the Elmhurst neck of the woods. Regular black milk tea with tapioca bubbles is the standard here. Everything else is a nice touch, order depending on your own tastes. Personally the ginger milk tea, sesame and almond (with less sugar) are my favorites. Milk tea with grass jelly (xian chau) is also refreshing in the summer, and a slightly lower calorie/less filling option than the regular tapioca. Speaking of the bubbles--here they are chewy and sweet, which I appreciate. KFT's texture across different franchised locations is the most consistent compared to all other bubble tea chains I've tried (Quickly, Vivi, Coco, etc.) Don't forget to customize your drink--hot/cold, the amount of ice (regular/less/none), and the level of sweetness (regular/75%/50%/25%/0%). Guy at the counter had such an attitude. I ordered nuggets for my son last week and he said it would be a 30 minute wait, we said forget it (This was around 12pm). We went back today and we ordered nuggets again, this time we were willing to wait. He told us we dont have this right now, and he said 20 minute wait. I said ok. Whoo hoo! Another Kung Fu Tea has opened! The Kung Fu Tea franchise is spreading like wildfire, first with a location in Flushing, then locations in Brooklyn and the East Village, and now there's one in Elmhurst. I'm a big fan of this chain and I can see why they're so successful. In a city where good pearl milk tea is hard to find, Kung Fu Tea really stands out. The Elmhurst Kung Fu Tea upholds the standards of the other ones, with the same creative menu of milk teas, flavored teas, and wow milk. Like the other locations, their teas are brewed to perfection and deliciously fragrant, and their tapioca is cooked to the correct, chewy consistency. The Elmhurst location has the same affordable prices as the Flushing location; and if you managed to stop by during the opening weekend, there was a 2-for-1 deal going on. There's also one major improvement: they have seating! Granted, it's 3 small tables with two chairs each, and one long, red sofa at the front of the cafe. This is probably the best bubble tea chain in NYC. This location is probably the friendliest. Its located right off of Broadway in Elmhurst, near the Grand st. subway stop. The store is relatively large and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. There's a couch and a few tables to sit at and drink bubble tea. Its gets pretty crowded here with customers at times, but I've never had a problem finding a seat. I've tried two flavors of bubble tea, Original Kung Fu bubble tea and Taro bubble tea. Taro is my favorite. The texture and consistency of the drink mixture and the softness of the bubbles coexist really nicely. The flavor and taste is awesome. This place sprang up nearby my house one day and I thought I would give it a try. It has potential to be a nice hang out spot for the local high school kids/young adults. They have a bright red coach and three 2-seat tables. My gripe is that the Taro Milk Green Tea I ordered was considerably on the watery side. The taro flavor was there, but it didn't taste full-bodied. It tasted cheap. Maybe I got the wrong thing or maybe they need to work out some kinks. In any case, the staff seems nice, just new. "YAKULT GREEN TEA" all day, everyday. It's my drink of choice. I really love this particular KFT because it's in such a convenient location in Elmhurst. I often drop by either before or after a shopping trip to Target which is a stone's throw away. They recently ran a promotion where for $2 - $3, you had a choice between a large Ovaltine slush or iced Ovaltine drink if slushies are not your thing. But rest assured, both options are perfect summertime drinks. After moving to Queens, even though I live closer to the one by 7 train, this location seemed to be the one I prefer coming to. When this store just opened, the drinks were undrinkable. The employees made it really, really sweet. But over time, they made the drinks just right. Practice makes perfect! I usually get the taro with a small amount of tapioca. The texture of the tapioca is just right but I don't like the amount they usually put in - too much. I don't think it should come as a surprise to anyone who ascribes the "foodie" label to themselves to say that it is very easy to become addicted to one place or dish. In the case of Kung Fu Tea, my addition is very recent and while most rewarding in a culinary sense, it is much more laden with guilt borne of the sheer amount of tapioca pearls I have consumed in the past couple weeks. The funny part is, I was never a gigantic Bubble Tea fan. Sure I had it before, I enjoyed it, but in all the years I've had it, it never called back to me. I had a friend once who could consume 4 Bubble Teas in one sitting. I thought this was a tremendous feat, but now I almost get it. This is a small outpost among the many Kung Fu Teas popping up around New York City. Walk too quick and you'll miss it as is sandwiched between a restaurant and a Fay Da bakery. Inside there's one lounge-y looking couch and a few tall tables with two chairs each, but this is definitely not a spot to spend hours on end in. The cashier and counter is right in front of you as you enter, along with a TV usually playing Chinese concerts. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Usually all their Bubble Teas have some "percentage" of sweetener (starting at around 30). I found the 30 to be too sweet for my tastes and I asked them to dial it down the next time. I still found that too sweet and decided to cut out the sweeteners altogether and while they made concerned faces, they never fought me on it. The customer is always right indeed! I've had two of Kung Fu Tea's slush concoctions in the past month (multiple times). The first is the Taro Slush, which is exactly what it sounds like. There is a really deep Taro flavor to it, unfortunately the 30% sweetener was a bit too much and overwhelmed the Taro flavor, but I am more sensitive to sweet than the average bear, so take that as you will. My favorite however has become the Red Bean Slush, which is exactly what it sounds like, red beans, ice blended together with tapioca pearls on the bottom (you need to ask for them). I had this with sweetener and again it was a bit too much for me. It was *good* mind you, but I wanted more of the red bean flavor. The last couple times I had it, I asked for no sweetener and it was perfect for my tastes. The only bad thing about Kung Fu Tea? Today's the 30th anniversary for kung fu tea and there is a buy one get one free promotion on the app. I am a new user of the kungfu tea app which means that i am able to use this coupon. Since it was my first time using this app, i was confused so i asked the cashier for some help. He responded in a rude manner when i was asking politely on how to use the app. When i went back on line after i figured out how to use it, he tells me to pay using the app. After i paid, he then tells me that i had to order TWO drinks to use the promo. I told him nicely that he should have told me before i paid and he rolled his eyes. He actually rolled his eyes the whole time i was conversating with him but i chose to ignore it. Super rude. Im a regular at this bubble tea location and have never been treated in such a manner. I understand the store was busy but this is a job YOU signed up for and YOU should be able to act professional. Went in to get a quick snack, while I waited for more than 10 minutes in an empty store for a simple snack such as corn dog. Their staff can be seen busy playing with their phone, asked them if it's going to take any longer, at that point I knew that they forgot to take out the food from the fryer. It came out burnt, and they told me that it has to be burnt in order for the inside not to be cold. Who the heck want to pay for burnt food? They could have microwave it before frying it or something. Bottom line don't get food from here, just get drinks if you're out option, if not there are plenty of other store. Not the best. Their standard bubble milk tea is RICH: very sweet, VERY creamy. I know some people like that, but it's just so sweet my throat started craving for Starbucks after 3 sips. I've been there 3 times now and I don't think I'm going back. First visit I ordered the bubble milk black tea, you know, just to see how the basic drink tastes. Like I said, way too sweet for me. Second round I decided to get the same thing but asked for half the sugar and half the tapioca. It was still just as sweet as what I had the first time. So the third time I asked for bubble milk green tea with 1/3 of the sugar and very little tapioca. What I got was an extremely watered down, more cream than tea, milk tea with still the same amount of sugar as the first black tea I got here. Confused what I did wrong. I figured after 3 times I would get the handle on finding my favorite drink here but it just didn't happen. I'm going back to Ten Ren for milk tea with real tea and attentive workers who make the sweetness right. read more
