I tried the chocolate and pistachio drink and royal milk tea. I really enjoyed the royal milk tea. The chocolate pistachio drink was interesting it's kinda like a Dubai chocolate drink it had little pieces of kataifi. The only downside is that the sugar level is not customizable. There was a big hype over Kung Fu Tea years ago when they first opened in DMV, but I've always found it to be mid. I've been to this location several times when I'm at Rio and it's got a decent store space with a good amount of seating and a few games. Nice, clean, and bright. So if you're bored and just want to hang out and chat with friends while playing a game, it's a nice space for that. Service has been standard, I don't interact too much with the staff. read more

Walked in at few minutes before 3:00pm but with the volume of customers our order wasn't taken until 3:08pm. Once it was our turn, I had asked the young lady about the sign posted next to register "Happy Hour".....she stated it was not "Happy Hour"....which can be very misleading especially no dates indicating which days your board applies to. But I found the volume of the customers mixed with kids playing the arcade games was a bit much. The Kung Fu Tea in Rio is a great hub for shoppers and Pokemon Go players to stop by for boba! The decor and aesthetic of the place is hip and trendy, with colorful painted walls, RGB lights, and arcade machines along the side. The outdoor seating area is quite a nice addition as well. KFT Boba itself is pretty consistent amongst all the chains, pretty good flavor and texture, but nothing to rave about. So instead I opted to try the Mango Jelly in my Passion Fruit Slush, and it was a tasty combination. Eyyyy this boba ain't the only thang that's poppin'!! This place was PACKED. Despite the high number of customers, the staff was very efficient, fast, and super welcoming! I ordered something new - honey oolong with a milk cap and pudding! It was really good. The honey oolong by itself was very sweet because of the honey, but the milk cap and pudding added some saltiness and creaminess. My fiancée ordered the Hershey's s'mores slush and he really liked it. I tried it and it was definitely yummy. It wasn't overly sweet like I thought it would be. It originally tasted like a frozen hot chocolate, but as it melted a little the s'mores flavor really came through. It also had graham cracker pieces. We'll be back! Next time I'm going to order the black sesame oolong milk tea--with the milk cap and pudding, obviously. And I definitely want to play those cool arcade games! read more

We walked in at 5pm but were not sure if it was open. There were no lights on. The staff was all turned watching "fail army" on the TV. When we walked in they just turned. It was hot until I mentioned that I was not sure they were open since all the lights were off that they turned the lights on and by the time we left with 2 teas there were 10 people waiting. This is my go to location for KFT although there's another location closer to me. The RIO location is easy to access as there's garage parking and plenty of curb sidewalk space. This location is a bit busy cause of all the folks going to RIO. But they're pretty quick at mixing the drinks. I like that you can adjust ice and sugar levels cause I generally get mine with the lowest amount of sugar added. I do get different things each visit so not sure how that factors in comparing to other reviews saying they're inconsistent. But I've always enjoyed my drinks from this KFT location. read more

Great place to get bubble tea in Rio. They have a lot of flavor options for tea and even have coffee and slushees. You can decide the level of sugar content and how much ice you want in your drink. This particular Kung Fu Tea had some arcade games too which is cool. The only reason I would not give 5/5 stars is because they only had three flavors for popping bubbles (grape, mango, coffee). Faith restored! After an initial bad drink, the manager invited me back to try the yogurt tea again, and it was great this time. Both the yogurt and grapefruit flavors came through loud and clear after a good shake. I really appreciate when places try to make amends, and KFT did this perfectly. KFT is a hit or miss and tastes different most times even when I change the level of sugar, ice, and everything else. Thought I'd try again and get something different this time around since I always get the same thing. Drinks: Caramel coffee slush: (50% sugar) I like my coffee. However, I couldn't really taste the caramel mostly coffee flavor. I don't think I would get this flavor again but it was okay for the first time. Rosehip Lemonade: this drink was probably better. **Soft opening review** Came on a Saturday evening during their soft opening. I was pleasantly surprised that their service was good and drinks came out pretty quickly despite the long line. The store was a decent size, with a few tables in the middle and high tops along the window. They had Uno on the table as well for people to play. My only complaint was that it was so hot/stuffy in the store! There was a fan in the back corner that didn't really do anything. We finally propped open the door and the store cooled down a lot. My taro green milk tea (70% ice and 70% sugar) was made well, but had kind of a tart after taste. I tried some of the KF milk tea, which was good, but a tad too sweet. Definitely would get 70% ice and sugar for this drink. The boba was on point. Soft and slightly chewy. The drinks and boba here are definitely on par with other Kung Fu Teas. Although I'm not sure about the cost, I like how they had reusuable bubble tea straws for sale. When I'm craving boba, I can see myself frequenting this location. It's right next to the parking garage (next to Target and Barnes and Noble). There's also some street parking as well. Hopefully they get their AC working soon, though. read more

Another outstanding Kung Fu Tea location that doesn't disappoint! This location and the one off Rockville Pike are both my favorite stores because their quality and standards never falter. What stands out the most with this location is the awesome Street Fighter game in the room. It's pretty cool that they added in an arcade styled game to one of their locations, definitely makes it unique! I went on Friday night with some friends after dinner just to have something sweet and we had a great time. I generally get the matcha sesame milk tea with black pearls and less ice. Perfect balance of sesame and the natural sweetness from matcha. My friends got a passionfruit drink with nata jelly and milk green tea. Both tasted great and the boba consistency wasn't amazing but not chewy so i'm okay with that! They also sell packaged teas and reusable boba straws compared to some of the other locations I've seen! Parking is simple, it's mainly all street parking that was free. It's actually kind of nice to be able to see your car outside while you're enjoying your boba. There was a lot of spaces available too. Would definitely recommend to anyone craving boba and will be back! read more

KF is one of my favorite boba chains. This location is at the RIO. I placed my order via the app, paid via the app. They are fast and friendly. I finally had something that wasn't milk based on this warm Saturday. The Refreshers are great, not overly sweet or iced down. You can't dine in, but there's places all over to sip and chat. I like this location. It is smack dab in the middle of the Rio area near the Barnes and Nobles and the Target. There are two garage parking on each side of the area. I am sure you are able to find parking during the pandemic. They have some outdoor seating, but it is not very spacious or plentiful. However, it is an option for people to sit and enjoy their drink. It makes it convenient that the trash can is right in front of the store. They do practice safe COVID precautions. They have sanitizer, guards, masks, and they ask patrons to wait outside until their drink is ready, which you can see through their window. With all those precautions in place, I felt pretty safe coming here and grabbing a drink. I ordered through the app and they had the drink ready on time. I was actually waiting for a friend so I let my drink sit at the window for a while. I noticed that staff was checking on the time so its not like they just drop a drink and not care about the order. I do appreciate that. I would be coming back when I am in the area. No other options seem to beat this place in the immediate area so they really chose a good spot. read more

I like this kung fu tea location. They have plenty of seating and bright light. It is located in Rio so you can park on the street or in a parking garage. I got the matcha milk tea with bubbles which was delicious. I usually got the Thai milk tea but they recently changed the recipe and I'm not a fan of it because it just tastes like black milk tea. Overall their bubble teas usually have a good flavor. I also found out recently that they have an app where you can accumulate points and earn rewards so lll definitely be using the app cause I do drink Kung fu tea often. read more

Boba within walking distance to me Kung fu tea comes to Rio in this beautiful storefront right off the main road Grand Corner Ave between uncle Julio's and target (opposite south moon under). Right now is soft opening until mid August but still awesome hours from 12-10pm everyday and from what I can tell, a full menu too. The taste is on par with other Kung fu teas and looks like they have some additional merch on sale like reuseablw straws (thumbs up). Workers there are super friendly and worked fast - granted it wasn't busy at all but still worth noting. Now if my lazy butt can see these guys on uber eats or somewhere my life will be complete lol! read more

**Adding stars for owner's effort and incident response. This will be my last post for Kung Fu Tea. I've been at Washingtonian Center (Rio Center), MD location multiple times since its opening (and many other locations. I want to like you ) and have used my reusable cup without any issue. Today, the Asian guy with short silver hair told me they're not allowed to do so. He needed to use the one-time-use plastic cup to measure since my cup has "no lines" and will throw it away anyway. (I'm using a mason jar with oz/ml marks.) He even chat with his coworkers saying that today was not his day right after serving my drink, as if I gave him a hard time. Why do you even sell reusable metal straws if you don't promote environmental awareness? This is hypocrisy. You guys need to do better on going green like Starbucks and many other chains. Will take my business to Kokee Tea in the area from now on. They don't complain about reusable cups. Bye bye. And yes, I specifically asked and he said the plastic cup would be thrown away. Also, the sticker has been put on it. There are more ways to measure. You can use scoops (like how the other girl who helped me 4 days ago did) or use other measuring method. read more

A great addition to the store that I haven't seen at any other Kung fu tea location is their amazing street fighter arcade machine! The drink I got on my first visit at the Rio location was the strawberry milk slush with bubbles! The store gave good vibes so I had to go with a large. The drink was just so tasteful, it had a smooth creamy feel and it was just refreshing. The boba were soft and chewy and very flavorful, they were also very appearing to the eye as they were shiny. 10/10 would recommend this location to all!!
