This Kung fu tea is hands down my favorite and most attracting in appearance! there was a line and I got my drink as fast as a normal day, 10/10 would come back here again. A great addition to the store that I haven't seen at any other Kung fu tea location is their amazing street fighter arcade machine! The drink I got on my first visit at the Rio location was the strawberry milk slush with bubbles! The store gave good vibes so I had to go with a large. The drink was just so tasteful, it had a smooth creamy feel and it was just refreshing. The boba were soft and chewy and very flavorful, they were also very appearing to the eye as they were shiny. 10/10 would recommend this location to all!! I'm happy to finally have a bubble tea place in Gaithersburg so I don't have to fight the traffic getting to Rockville for my fix. I tried the peach tea with natta jellies and the jelly wasn't really good but the tea tasted great. I also got the chai with pudding which I really enjoyed and will be getting again. The location lost it's AC soon after opening which is pretty ridiculous for the summer time, but it's still not terrible inside. The staff didn't seem to know what anything tasted like so it was hard getting recommendations, but they were willing to remake drinks if you didn't like it. read more

I came on both grand opening days because I clearly have an addiction. Plus, I couldn't resist the BOGO deal that they were having for their grand opening. There was a pretty long line both days, but the line moved fast. The drinks were also made pretty fast too. I'm sure once the grand opening weekend is over (8/8-8/9), the line won't be as long. On the first day, my sister and I got the peach oolong tea with 50% sugar and boba (tapioca) and the strawberry cream with boba. I don't think the sugar can be adjusted on the strawberry cream, and peach oolong can't go below 50% sugar. The strawberry cream was DELICIOUS. The only downside is that it's double the price of regular tea. I think you can only get the strawberry cream as a large too. The peach oolong was okay, but not very sweet. Even though I don't like my bubble tea too sweet, 50% sugar was a bit too bitter. On the second day, my friend and I got the peach oolong with boba and 100% sugar. I also got the winter melon with boba. The sugar couldn't be adjusted on the winter melon tea so I just got the regular amount of sugar. The winter melon tea was very refreshing. The peach oolong was still not that sweet, even at 100% sugar, but it a good amount of sweet--I wouldn't go over 100% unless you really like sweet tea. Overall, fast service, lots of options, and good bubble tea. Update: I came back a day later and got the taro slush with Oreo. It was so good!!! Been an avid fan of Kung Fu Tea since their first location (near Rockville Town Center) in the DMV area opened. So happy to hear now I can drink it too whenever I go to Rio! I've been here a couple times since they opened and this time I tried the Sunshine Pineapple Tea and it was pretty refreshing! There were also pineapple bits in there to chew on in addition to the nata jelly I got. The inside was really vibrant and hip. They even have a street fighter arcade machine to play with for free! I remember it was really hot before (they said AC was broken) so we usually just grab bubble tea and go, but now it seems like the AC has been fixed so my friends and I like to hangout here after dinner and play the games they have. Their drinks are pretty consistent in terms of taste, and wait times aren't too bad whenever we go. Overall, this KFT location didn't disappoint! PS. they sell reusable straws! But here we have an ESTABLISHMENT that can order some caps for your drink. Instead they had the audacity to give my little monster a plastic straw. Rise up coffee has paper straws, star bucks have paper straws, but not Kung fu tea? I thought this was America, I thought we were here to save turtles not kill them and for THAT REASON I have deducted 1.8 stars. Great location but very very busy! They seem to get through orders pretty quick but if its a busy afternoon, which in my case it was, be prepared to wait but be sure to check on your drink status. Our order had two drinks, my husband got his while they said mine was being made. Thus began the long wait. After 30 minutes, I went back to check on my drink only to find out that it was never made so they had to put it in their system again. I received my drink shortly after. A great Kung Fu Tea location with huge windows facing the Rio storefronts outside and lots of natural lighting. The interior has a minimalistic, white-colored vibe going on. The seating area isn't open right now due to the pandemic but when it does open back up it's a great place to watch the people stroll by through the windows as you sip on a hot tea and warm up on a cold winter day or cool down with an icy, refreshing fruit tea on a hot summer day. There's also a seating area outside with string lights that light up overhead at night. There's not much to say about the drinks as KFT's flavors are already consistently established as it is a chain. My order has always been accurately prepared when I have visited this location, and I've always received great customer service. Easy to order and customize on the app! We usually place our order and it's ready by the time we get there. I feel like they have less variety of flavors compare to other bubble tea places, but the quality of the flavors they do serve are great. Their bubbles are cooked to chewy perfection and sweetened. Since their bubbles are sweet, I often get zero sugar in my tea and let the bubbles sweeten the drink. The 100% sugar level is VERY sweet so beware. Certain drinks like the taro milk tea can't be adjusted. Some of my favorites are the Kungfu black milk tea, matcha milk strike, and winter melon green tea. They use Lactaid instead of regular milk and it still tastes very creamy. They also have coffee and seasonal flavors available. read more

The Kung fu tea here is pretty solid, even though it is new. I ordered the wintermelon green milk tea with 70% sugar and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. We came in during a time that was busy for a soft opening, but the drinks came out pretty quickly within 5 minutes. The AC was broken but they kept the doors open and had a fan running. There were some boxes in the corner of the store of some supplies, assuming they were still settling down. The bathrooms were out of toilet paper which was a bit unsettling, but don't think that being busy during a soft opening is an excuse to be negligent of sanitary issues. read more

I've tried many other boba places around here, and there are a lot around here. But Kung Fu Tea does it like no other. The drinks themselves are very good, but everyone has good drinks. The bubbles are what make it top quality. Whether you get the original honey bubbles or you order the Wow drinks to get their brown sugar bubbles. They make the drink go from good to amazing. The design of each store is always inviting and they always have ways to entertain you if you feel like sitting down. The only downside I have is that occasionally they can mess up the order such as adding ice when I say not to or not sealing it properly. But that's not enough for it to go down a whole star. I love me some Kung Fu tea. This location is well placed in the Rio/Washingtonian Center. My only complaint is twice this summer I went and their air conditioning wasn't working and it was unbearably hot just waiting to get my drink. However the staff is amazing and friendly. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. Do yourself (and your health) a favor and avoid the Longyan jujube drink. One sip quite literally tasted like a tablespoon of pure sugar dissolved in equal parts water, with a hint of longyan flavor. I was completely appalled and dumbfounded by how I had paid $5 for literally 1 cup sugar dissolved in hot water (did someone's hand slip when they measured out the sugar?! I'd love to know). It was completely unpalatable and felt like a sick joke. Quite honestly I literally would not be able to finish a drink like that even if someone offered me $100. Is it that hard to make a palatable drink?! For a speciality store that only sells tea?! I spoke to a worker about the drink. She didn't even see what drink I was holding-- and asked "oh, is it the longyan one?", clearly suggesting that they already are aware that this drink is that disgusting. She told me this drink is made that sweet by default and the only solution was literally to pour out half and dilute with water. I mean. WOW. I was partly laughing but also in total disbelief as I watched her dump out half the drink and filled the cup with water. I literally paid $5 for half a cup of water and half a cup of junk. I mean, it was funny but kind of shocking. Additionally, she mentioned that they do not ask for your desired sugar level and this it was their policy. This was upsetting to me as well-- isn't that a pretty standard question for most Kungfu tea shops to ask (at least the few others I've visited). Why is their policy so? Well, who would've known that a pretty innocent visit to a bubble tea store would result in such a disappointing and upsetting experience. This location is one of my favorites by far! They have been handing out quality service and quality drinks since Day 1. I have been a fan since their soft opening days and they have only gone up hill since then. I love how spacious the area is, how fast the drinks come out and how there's a street fighter game that's FREE! This kft has a great location because of all the surrounding stores, It's walking distance from target, Barns and Nobles, the movie theaters and D&B! I find myself coming here 4 times a week... I love Kung Fu Tea! I grew up with KFT being my main source of boba until bubble tea became popular enough that other chains began opening in MoCo. I was so happy when KFT opened in Rio, I visit all the time. The only downside is that there always seems to be a line or long wait time here lol, not complaining though! The boba quality here is really great, probably among the softest yet perfectly shaped and easy to digest. The store space is very clean, and the staff do a wonderful job with the pandemic protocols. I do have to say that the teas taste just okay, and a half sweet milk tea that we ordered tasted mostly like just milk. It's a bit disappointing to have this happen when you pay about $5 for a rather small "large" cup, but what can you do. I do think it might have been a bad batch, and I still look forward to trying their other selection. read more

I used to go here all the time pre-Covid and loved it. Today I went for the first time since before the pandemic and had a subpar experience. My order was messed up - I asked for popping bubbles and was given tapioca boba, which wasn't a big deal. As someone who used to work in retail, I didn't want to make a scene about it, so I just went up to the cashier and very kindly told her she made a mistake and apologized for the misunderstanding. She snapped at me and rolled her eyes, and when she gave me my new boba with the correct bubbles, she slammed it down on the table and didn't give me eye contact. I didn't get her name, but I thought that was rude of her. I didn't want to seem like a Karen and I apologized so many times but I was still treated as if I were a Karen. I tried so hard to be nice. I wish I had gotten her name so I could include it in the review. read more

So glad they opened up a Kung Fu Tea in Rio. I didn't have a chance yet to visit the store due to the current pandemic, but Im happy they on UberEats. My addiction for bubble tea started because of my sister and mother. My mother enjoyed the milk teas, and my sister enjoyed the fruit teas. I really dont have a preference because as long as they come with bubbles, I'm a satisfied customer. I have tried so far the Taro Milk Tea, Mango Green Tea Punch, Coffee Milk Tea & Honey Milk Green Tea. Each one of those was tasty. I do recommend getting each drink at either 50% or 75% sugar level. I do plan on trying out the matcha and oreo wow tea in the near future! I cant give too much insight on the store, or customer service, but what I can say based on my experience with Kung Fu Tea is they are great franchise, make amazing bubble tea, and if you haven't tried bubble tea yet, go to a Kung Fu tea near you and try it out. read more

Ordered 2 drinks through the app. Both drinks were not filled all the way. Also, one drink was supposed to have "less ice" but the cup was half filled with ice.
