Tangy ribs. Served takeout or you can dine in the sculpture garden at Elysian Gardens, Birmingham's Backyard Bar.

I've seen them in various parts of town so chances are you've seen them around the Birmingham area at least once or twice. Known for their burgers and polish dogs the menu serves up delicious food that's saucy and fresh. They even have some vegan options for you. My go to is the polish dog that comes with a welcomed large polish sausage, onions and peppers drenched in their special sauce. The polish sausage is thick and seasoned with garlic. The hot dog bun and everything in between is a must try!

Big portions of familiar, messy, delicious things, a compact menu, and quick friendly service. It has been around for so long that it's something of an anchor of the local food truck scene, and those who've eaten anything from it probably all hope it sticks around for a long time. It's meat-forward. Big polish sausage dogs covered in chili/debris/perfectly sautéed onions, burgers that are dripping with goodness and heavy when you pick them up. Fries that are always crisp and piping hot. Long term consistent execution. As sure a thing as you're gonna get from a truck. If you see it, and you're hungry, consider yourself blessed.

Fast forward to this week, 7/2024. It was my turn to pick a place for happy hour. I called SKA last Thursday & asked what time happy hour is? The staff replied "Either 4pm or 5pm until 7pm." I asked her to please find out and I'd wait. In response she asked me what time I planned to come. I told her, 4pm. She responded, "YOU SHOULD BE FINE AROUND THEN." I was baffled and just asked for her name and ended the call ... We went to Courtyard 280 ‍ It just so happened that my friends picked SKA for brunch today, Saturday. I'd resolved that I was going for the company and would put all of my past experiences aside. My food experience had been prior the food truck and brick and mortar. So I was open to giving them a chance. I'm so so glad I did! They refer Saturday brunch as a Day Party. It's on the louder end of the spectrum, which is perfectly appropriate for a day party vibe. There was a DJ ... at some point my friend asked, Are they playing GloRilla?!? lol! I'm a fan so it was fine. Our waiter had great energy and he was attentive. The decor is nice. We ordered the mimosa flight. They were good, 4 flavors - strawberry, mango, blueberry, peach - not too sweet. I ordered shrimp and grits. The grits were thick (that's how I like them) and well seasoned. The shrimp was plentiful! was not over cooked at all. There was shrimp in most every bite. I'd recommend this. My friend ordered the fried catfish and grits and said she enjoyed it. The biscuit tasted canned - it wasn't needed though. This was a nice experience!

The amount of food you get is perfect for an individual so you will not leave hungry. That made it even better for the price. If you like tasty and warm Southern food that you will be eager to come back to you should try this place. I will go back again to eat more because it was so good. The catfish was coated in a glossy glaze with just enough heat to make your nose run--but never enough to slow you down. Perfectly cooked, flaky, and packed with flavor in every bite. And the Cajun ranch fries? A full chef's kiss. Crispy, seasoned just right, and the perfect companion to the fish. The truck stayed busy the entire time--from people getting off work to people like us, just looking to try something new--which tells you everything you need to know. Amazing food, incredible flavors, and we genuinely can't wait to come back and work our way through the rest of the menu. If you see this food truck, do yourself a favor and pull up!

It was recommended that I try the chicken flautas and they exceeded my expectations. Just like tacos, the flautas rely heavily on the salsa quality that they are bathed in; this key component either makes or breaks them. These were not overly spicy, and the many flavors complimented this traditional dish very well. The decor in this place is legit, and staff are knowledgeable and proud of the food they serve. If you want authentic Mexican food, I recommend Taco Morro Loco. I am looking forward to eating here again, next time I am in Birmingham.

One thing I really liked was the wide variety of protein options on the menu. I ordered two tripa tacos and was very happy with the flavor. The tripa was well-seasoned, and the tacos were satisfying overall. The staff on the truck were friendly and patient while I decided what to order, and I never felt rushed. My food was prepared quickly, which I definitely appreciated. The only downside was the price. I paid around $11 or $12 for two tacos, which is a bit more expensive than the food truck I usually visit. That said, I assume the higher price is due to the Lakeview location. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely stop by again if I'm in the Lakeview area.
