They just changed ownership and rebranded and it was great! The owner/chef was so friendly and attentive, but what really stood out was the quality of the food. You could taste her dedication and passion in her food. The birjani was delicate and light (not greasy like I've had at many other places) and very flavorful. Very nice authentic Indian buffet in Somerset! My son and I stumbled upon this place after passing by several times due to my son's fear of his tree nut allergies. It was Saturday lunch time and they had buffet going on - and the selection was pretty good. I confirmed with the nice owner that none of the dishes had tree nuts except almond in the dessert and we got to eating. Couple highlights include: Vegetable Pakora - crispy and full of good veggie bites, it was not too greasy and my son was fascinated by how delicious it was to eat. Tandoori Chicken - This was surprising because most places the tandoori chicken is a bit dry, but this one was flavorful and succulent. Their garlic nans, which we ordered separately, were fluffy, chewy, flavorful and just a joy to eat all of the food with - we enjoyed their various veggie dishes with the nans and washed it all down with their almond dessert, which my son had a sip or two and did not have any allergic reactions. The price was a bit steeper than I expected (I did not check price carefully), so most likely won't be coming regularly, but it's a great choice when you really want to eat-eat, esp. with a hungry teenager. I have never dined in, but the restaurant looks nice and the staff at the counter are very attentive. This is my go-to for Indian takeout. The dishes I love are samosa chaat and bhindi masala. I ordered take out today (11/20). Both the items veg manchurian and kati roll were full of spices, chillies that made my throat choked, and had to take medicine. Avoid the food here. The food was good. Mild spice, and very tasty. The man at the counter was exceptionally rude. The hours were posted as open until 10pm, and the door sign also indicated open until 10. We arrived at 9:25pm. Upon entry he demanded "take out only" and had a sour expression on his face. He was rude when we were ordering, instead of clarifying questions, he just repeated himself with rolled eyes. He was also rude to two dine-in customers while we waited for our takeout. I am really grateful that Kurry Zone has stayed open for take-out during the pandemic lockdown. Tonight was our fourth time picking up dinner from this excellent restaurant. The food here is outstanding! If you enjoy Indian food, I guarantee you will be happy with your meal here. The online menu that we access from Yelp is well organized by category, such as "North Indian Vegetarian Dishes," "Tandoori," and "Indo-Chinese." I aspire to try all the vegetarian dishes. So far I have had two different types of Dal, Chickpea Masala, and Sag Paneer. Every single dish was cooked perfectly. The food is delightfully flavorful and spicy, without being painfully spicy. My husband and I agreed the standout was the Sag Paneer. Three days after eating it, my husband remarked "that Sag Paneer was superb. I already need to get it again." So tonight we ordered it again! I have always placed my orders over the phone, and arrived in under half an hour to find my dinner well packed in a sturdy bag with handles, ready for me on the counter. The food has been hot and fresh and I have never had to wait. The orders have been 100% accurate every time. Due to the pandemic restrictions, I have not had the opportunity to have an eat-in meal at Kurry Zone, but I have the feeling that they would have nice staff and service. Everyone I have interacted with on the phone when placing my order and when picking up the take-out food, has been pleasant and welcoming. This restaurant is located in the middle of a medium-sized strip mall called Cedar Grove Centre. There is plenty of free parking in the lot. It is well lit at night and in a safe neighborhood. The only thing that might be confusing when getting there is that the name of the restaurant is not included on the list of businesses displayed on the entrance sign. Last night we placed a takeout order for the Bhindi Masala (okra, onions, tomato, spices), the Baigan Bharta (roasted minced eggplant with tomatoes, onions, spices, and herbs), and Kulcha (bread stuffed with onions or chili). Everything was absolutely delicious. Portions were enough for three or four servings! The two of us will enjoy a repeat of last night's dinner this evening! Kurry Zone is closed on Mondays. They have daily specials and a buffet option, too. Vegetarians will be overjoyed. There are PLENTY of options that do not include meat. read more

Ordered the khati roll, mostly because the menu stated it came with fries. Unfortunately, it did not. That in and of itself was quite disappointing. The fact that the khati roll itself wasn't stellar didn't help. The cardamom flavor was overwhelming. The portion was huge - enough for leftover lunch the next day. Absolutely love this place! I discovered Kurry Zone back during the pandemic and it quickly become one of my favorite places to order takeout from. The food always arrived quickly and was still hot when it reached me. Recently, I had the chance to dine-in and the service was just as good as the food! As soon as we walked through the doors, we were greeted warmly and immediately seated. The food arrived soon after ordering and the staff was very kind and attentive as they frequently checked-in on us and refilled our waters throughout the meal. My favorite item to get from here is the paneer makhani (it comes with rice as well). The sauce is so creamy and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The portion size is great for the price with it sometimes lasting me two meals. I always get an order of their garlic naan too as the side dish pairs perfectly with the paneer makhani. I have also tried their chicken tikka masala and can say it's just as delicious! The chicken is so tender and cooked perfectly. Having tried the baigan bharta as well, I can say that this place does not miss a beat with any of their dishes! This is a must try spot whether you plan on ordering takeout or dining in! I have been going to this restaurant for years. My favorite is their Chicken Seekh Kebab. Despite it being a dry dish the meat was always juicy. But today was such a disappointment...I ordered it and the meat looked old and extremely dry. It tasted more like a paste than actual meat. I paid almost $50 for a meal that was not freshly made. A classic example of a well run local restaurant that takes care if it's guests and offer good quality food! Tucked away in a rather insignificant strip mall, next to other food joints , their signage looked inviting. We have seen this place driving by a few times , but never found a reason to visit. An impromptu trip to Kurry Zone with a large group on a Sunday evening, loaded with some skepticism and no great expectations , we arrived and found a relatively empty restaurant with just one table occupied with a BYOB party of 6. We had actually called and made a reservation which we realized was rather unnecessary when we got there. The owner didn't tell us otherwise when we called. The menu was simple with some standard Indian and Indo Chinese dishes. The owner +1 were all of the wait staff that evening, the owner took our order immediately. With continued skepticism we waited for the appetizers.... The food came out quickly, and to our surprise most of it tasted good. Chicken Angaare which is their speciality was way too spicy, which was probably because the spices had not cooked through . It had a bit of the raw chili powder aftertaste. But the chicken was tender and we ended up finishing it. Chicken pepper fry was the worst of the lot. Neither Indian nor indo Chinese , it was a mish mash of many things , but the chicken was clearly overcooked with no distinct pepper not any flavor .. Chilli Paneer ( Indian cottage cheese) was awesome . This Indo Chinese dish was a beautiful medley of hot and sweet , with the Paneer cooked perfectly and the crispy bell peppers and onions adding the perfect element of crunch to the dish. Masala fries was nice but nothing spectacular. It could have benefited with some more flavor to keep up its name. Masala papad was yet another spicy hot offering . Tasted good but tough on the palate that we didn't enjoy it . Chicken Momos were quite good with the hot Chilli Dipping sauce. Out entree fill included the following .. Methi chicken ( fenugreek flavored chicken curry) Shaam Savera ( spinach and cottage cheese fritters in a delicately flavored cream sauce ) Egg burjee with Pav- Indian style scrambled eggs with Indian burger bun Paneer Lababdaar- Indian cottage cheese in a creamy sauce Garlic naan Thai basil fried rice. No words to describe all of the above, every dish was unique and tasted great. Normally you think most restaurant curries taste the same as they use pre made sauces as a common base, but at Kurry Zonr each curry tasted different and had the perfect blend of spices with a luscious consistency. Thai Fried rice was again way too spicy for our taste , but once again it tasted so good that everyone gobbled a few mouthfuls before reaching out for mango lassi and water !!! Egg burjee was the only mediocre dish of the lot but i would pass it by describing it as home made rather condemn it for not being restaurant quality! Pav served with it was simply the best , buttery and browned beautifully . Gulag jamun and ice cream completed our evening meal on a sweet note. With limited staff , they took good care of us and were quick , courteous and friendly. Lovely evening with family at this warm & cozy spot. You must try this place not only to help support local businesses, but more so because you will enjoy good Punjabi food and their non intrusive pleasant service . I really like Kurry Zone, the food is consistently good quality and the portions are generous! If I'm ordering for myself, one entrée can typically last me for 3 different meals. We've ordered from here many times because it is close to home and I think I've pretty much likely everything that we have gotten. Their lunch specials are huge at a very good price for what you get. I like that it's something different every day. The Indo-Chinese options are also a great option. All of their Manchurian dishes are yummy! read more

Used to love this place and ordered here so many times. Last week we ordered malai kofta and the picture is what we got. They gave us TWO kofta balls; when we previously ordered this we received 4+. My wife decided to call back and they said that's all they give and they won't do anything about it; the gentleman hung up on her. I decided to call back and spoke with him requesting the owner,Rajiv, call back and he still hasn't (10 days later). I will not order again from here again... while I love the food, it's frustrating they are charging me $15 for a dish and I get two kofta balls. Don't raise prices and cut on quantity. read more

Three words to describe Kurry Zone: clean, fresh, delicious, friendly. Oops, that was four. Seriously though, I'm so glad this restaurant opened up dangerously close to my office. A friend and I stopped by for the lunch buffet today, and I was very impressed. There was a nice selection of Indian favorites like butter chicken and goat curry, and a lot of Indian-Chinese dishes, too. The buffet had fewer selections than other ones I have been to, but it didn't bother me at all. Nothing felt like it was missing, and every single dish I tried was outstanding - hot, fresh and perfectly flavored. I'd rather have 10 amazing options than 20-30 so-so ones any day. Additionally, we ordered a side of garlic naan, and it was just as delicious and fresh. The man working the counter was friendly and helpful as well. An Indian place less than 2 miles from home?! Yes please. My Punjabi husband works on the road so he usually orders takeout before getting on the road for the week. We have a place we love over in Edison but it's a bit of a drive if you're feeling lazy like we were last weekend. I convinced him to try this new spot and he ordered bhindi, saag and bread for the road and butter chicken and naan to eat that evening. He was really disappointed with the butter chicken. The texture and color were great. It had a very velvety mouthfeel. But it needed salt and some heat to it. The garlic naan was ok but the flavors weren't saturated and they're not big and fluffy like we're accustomed to - even from other quick eateries. What really got him down was the price and value. We spent $54 and Didn't. Get. Rice. How sway?!?! And he was given just a small bowl of salad - red onions and tomatoes. This just didn't feel like 50 bucks of food. Especially to have to come home and cook my own rice. I feel like in the rush to keep margins in check they've skipped out on stuff that makes an Indian meal feel complete. The samosas were filled with tasty and spicy chicken that was not tried out stuff in a crispy shell. The shell was crispy but not oily or greasy. The sauce that accompanied the samosas was outstanding!! I had the paneer lababdar which had a delicious sauce that was a great combination of sweet and spicy. My friend had the chicken methi and the chicken was so moist and delicious! Obviously we had to top the meal off with a few orders of garlic naan ;). This is so far my favorite Indian restaurant in the local area. Absolutely delicious food and have been there 3 times already. I have tried there paneer makhani, chicken makhani, gulab jamun, and their garlic naan. All of these item have tasted really great! Stopped here for the lunch buffet one weekend. It was a good variety, very fresh. The naan was brought to the table, and refilled as necessary. I was actually almost just us for just eating it on the plane and encouraged to get some more from the buffet to dip the naan in. The only disappointing part of the meal was that there was no goat on the Buffet which my husband had been hoping for. It will occasionally be there but you have to call. Will probably be back for an evening meal and just order the goat - ourselves. read more

A lot of Indian restaurants don't slow-cook their meats long enough for maximum tenderness, but Kurry Zone does.
