Nice selection of food in the menu, attractive feature dishes, unfortunately the oysters I wanted to try was sold out when I visited :( I got the hotate crudos and the scallops were HUGE. they were perfectly lightly seared, and didn't need the orange on top. They tasted super fresh and delicious. Sushi roll was good as well and came in a big portion.

Omg. If we don't talk about anything else. Let's just establish - THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Super fresh. Great portion prepared just as it should be. 18 piece sashimi platter amazing. Fatty tuna is from another world. So is everything else. Miso soup so delicious. Yellow tail spicy crab roll mouthwatering. Sake great. Atmosphere relaxed. Service fantastic. And so attentive. Prices reasonable. I am in love and cannot wait to return.

The miso soup and the sushi rolls were good. I didn't order anything complicated. The only thing that the restaurant got wrong for my delivery was that I said no green onions in the soup, and yet the soup arrived with onions. Ah, well. Not a big deal.

My girl Vivian was super nice and a great waitress. Since it was our first time she took the time to explain everything in the menu, including their specials. I couldn't pick out my favorite meal because everything we ordered was SO GOOD. They also are not shy about portions. Chicken karrage aioli was so good and tender (lots of meat instead of batter). They gave us a lot of tempura and the omakase set was great to share between two people. I highly recommend ordering this for a single person too!! Since we were sharing the omakase set, my husband and I also got two specialty rolls (ovi and crazy tuna). We LOVED the OVI roll but the crazy tuna was delicious too. Definitely will be coming back here regularly!

When traveling, you can always find me at a Japanese restaurant. This was a Yelp recommendation and I am happy with the results. The fish was fresh and my orders arrived very promptly. The service was great and it was a busy night with other patrons stopping in with their families for dinner. My favorite was definitely the toro sashimi. It was very fresh and fatty. I recommend it.

A group of four converged on the site for a late lunch on a lazy week day and we were excited to dine. The weather was cool so we opted to eat outside in the patio area. The menu (with pictures) look very appetizing, and the meals are adequately depicted, BUT...there are some issues. Although it was not busy, the delay in getting our meal was a bit disturbing. The rice was cold and our colleague's meal was delayed to the point that by the time I finished my meal, his was still "being prepared." He cancelled his order as the delay was long. The entrée was tasty, but alas also cold. So the question is whether the delay is worth it? I don't think so...

I was staying in Crystal City and walked over a mile out here specifically because this restaurant participates in the Dining Rewards Program, so by eating here I could earn my regular credit card miles along with American Airlines miles. By the time I arrived I was hot and tired and really looking forward to some good sushi. What I got was really meh. My server was very nice, and I was quite impressed with her mastery of the menu. When I asked her about different rolls, she knew from memory which ones came with six pieces or eight, and explained the size of the rolls to me so I could decide between large six pieces and eight regular pieces. I felt she checked up on me often enough. What was disappointing to me -- and the reason I'm only giving three stars -- is the food. And I might not have reviewed this place at all, except it offers an omakase option on the menu, which invites you customers to trust the chef to offer a great culinary experience. Offering omakase suggests that they are confident in their sushi skills. After eating here, I would say that confidence is a bit misplaced. My main gripe is how moist (borderline soggy) the sushi rice was on both my rolls. Sushi rice should not be dry. It should be a bit sticky, clump together. This requires adequate moisture. But it should not be soggy, as mine was. It really took away from my enjoyment. Secondly, I don't think the flavors and the texture of the sushi here is that great. It's not horrible, but compared to other places, I would say it's below average. There are two ways to approach sushi. The traditional Japanese way, which focuses on fresh ingredients and simple prep, or the American way where the flavor is not in the fresh fish but in the sauces and extras included in the roll along with the fish. The sushi here is prepped American style but the flavor was lacking to me. I ordered a California roll and instead of using mixed crab in a mayo, they straight up just cut imitation crab stick. To me that really takes away from the flavor. Maybe I'm being too picky. I'm no expert on sushi. But I've eaten it often enough to know what I like. And I feel there is better sushi to be had elsewhere.

Ordered the Got Beef? Such roll and I must say it was really good! In my opinion it costed $27/28 and that was a lot compared to the average prices I'm used to. The sushi roll has a sweet flavor that I can't figure but really enhances the flavor! I did ask for eel sauce because it was a bit dry to my tastebuds. I wish they added eel and spicy mayo to it. However the reason I give it a 4 star was because I waited 40 minutes to get my roll. The server was very sorry and offered a free drink and mochi on the house which i appreciate. The atmosphere was towards of the chill rather than upscale and fancy. It was a nice treat after a long day of shopping

I would give them a 3.75 stars not quite the 4-stars for me but still was pretty good. I went to this establishment on 3/17/25 and I ordered I believe spicy salmon, yellowtail with cream cheese, and another roll I can't quite remember but a tuna roll. It was during lunch time so the restaurant was empty and because I was by myself I decided to sit at the bar. The waiter was nice and ensure I had what I needed even though one roll was incorrect. The sushi was pretty fresh and the lunch prices was not that bad, but the parking situation just make sure you have some quarters to feed the meter. I would probably be back if they had a happy hour or during lunch again if I'm in the area.

Strictly a bar review but this was one of, if not the best, Kusshi sushi location I've been to. Clean small, well decorated and a cute bar! Service was amazing! The bartender even recommended a different style of my lychee drink for my second round so that I did not get an overly sweet taste in my mouth from the first lychee martini! She did a great job and was correct and guessing my preference! Would definitely return and have a bite there!

I came to Kusshi for the first time to try out their Valentine's Day Omakase special. The special included 7 courses. The first course was a salmon miso soup, and was probably my favorite. It was a simple twist on a classic but, greatly done. I would definitely order it again. The second course was a fried chicken yakitori skewer. I liked that they used dark meat for the chicken skewer as it kept the meat nice and juicy. It came out nice and hot with super crispy skin . The third course was a seafood salad with seaweed salad, octopus, and salmon roe. I think the salmon roe and the seaweed salad worked well together to liven up the fresh fish and octopus in the dish. The fourth course was a salmon crudo with a truffle ponzu sauce and avocado. The salmon had a great texture and the ponzu sauce lended a nice citrusy taste to counter the fat from the salmon and the avocado. The fifth course was a tuna taco. On paper, this dish would be my favorite, but the taste was a little one-note and the tuna felt more in the background as opposed to the star of the dish. The sixth course was otoro nigiri with uni. You could tell that the cut of tuna was of good quality as the otoro melted in your mouth. It felt like I didn't even need to chew. The rice under the nigiri was compacted nicely and didn't fall apart like lots of other places when you go to pick it up with your chopsticks. The last course was an eel hand roll and a tamago hand roll. The eel was cooked nicely and wasn't overly saucy, but I felt like the dish was lacking in excitement. We also ordered the Crunch Roll and beef fried rice to go. Both were good, but unfortunately nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, I think the Omakase was a great deal for the price! read more

Went to Kusshi Sushi excited for their soft opening with 2 other friends because they offered 25% off and was EXTREMELY disappointed by their HORRENDOUS costumer service. We ordered 1 ramen, 2 sushi roll, 1 appetizer,, 2 drinks and 1 seafood entrée. And our waiter gave 1 complimentary shot for our table of 3. They forgot my sushi roll, I asked twice and the waiter checked once and never came back the second time. We also had to ask the bar for more water bc our waiter forgot. In the end, we asked for the check and to our surprise my sushi roll was on the check and we asked them to take it off. They came back with the corrected check for us to only correct them again asking for our 25% off that they offered. It was just awful. read more

My daughter has been begging for sushi our whole vacation so we decided to try Kusshi out. It was a super hot day and there was no AC inside the restaurant so we ended up sitting outside as it felt cooler outside. Service was good, I didn't find it slow as other reviews suggested but it was later in the evening. The rolls we had were good but we don't adventure too far outside of shrimp tempura and California rolls. It was pricey, as suggested in other reviews, you are definitely paying for the fun/newer location. read more

Just like the North Bethesda location, spot on. Menu has plenty of options but doesn't overwhelm. I'm big on Sashimi, and they give you big fresh cuts with a great presentation. This is Kusshi Sushi's new location at Pentagon Row. This is such a great location. The staff was super friendly and satisfied away it's right away I ordered the gyoza it starts and it's delicious. We also ordered The shrimp nigiri and and the Baltimore roll which were very delicious super fresh everything that we got was super fresh. I am a soup and noodle girl so we also ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and the chicken Udon noodle soup. Kei makes my weekly sushi habit even more delightful after being a loyal grubhub customer for years. I was a fan of Kusshi Sushi in north Bethesda but this location is my fav - the drinks are honestly top tier imaginative and satisfying (and that's saying so much in the competitive dc market) and kei knows his stuff when it comes to the perfect cocktail. Highly recommend this sushi restaurant. The servings were nice and the fish was fresh. The music was a bit loud so difficult to have conversations. I would say probably not the place for kids; although my 14 and 8yo could find items to enjoy. Just very loud. Service was good, no complaints in that department. read more

Service was really great and never had to wait for water/check. Cute inside with lots of seating. Very generous sushi portions. I went during a slow period and my tempura tasted a little chewy and not fried all the way. I'd like to try this place again because the quality of fish is really good and maybe I'll just stick with raw fish rolls next time. read more

Let's just say I think kusshi.ko in tyson it's so much better. I had an udon and it was so dang salty...the sushi roll are a lot smaller than kusshi ko, and the service definitely not as good as kusshi ko. I get it i get here late but y'all didn't have to drown it in salt. back to kusshi ko i go. read more

Me and a party of 4 got the 64 piece sushi bot and man was that beautiful. Really loved the presentation and all the fish was so fresh. My favorite was the seared fatty salmon. The miso soup there was something I have never tried. It was salty but also a hint of sweet. Was a very pleasant experience and I'm very happy with my experience going to kusshi sushi west post. The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! It was a Friday evening-- and they were NOT crazy busy, but the service was SLOW! Like crazy slow. I swear our waiter was avoiding us. A couple of our dishes were warm at best when they were presented -- clearly prepped and sitting in the kitchen for too long before they were brought out. So come for the food -- but don't expect it to be a quick meal.

Kusshi Pentagon Row is a must-visit for anyone who loves sushi. From the moment you walk in, you'll be impressed by the sleek and modern design of the restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting, and the dim lighting and elegant decor create a sense of relaxation that's perfect for a night out. But what really sets Kusshi Pentagon Row apart is the quality of the sushi. Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared and delicious. The sushi rolls were inventive and full of flavor, while the sashimi was incredibly fresh and melt-in-your-mouth tender. One of the standout dishes was the Kusshi roll, which was filled with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, and topped with a spicy mayo sauce. The combination of flavors was perfect, and the roll was beautifully presented. The Spicy Tuna Roll was also a highlight, with a perfect balance of heat and flavor. The service at Kusshi Pentagon Row was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. He also checked on us regularly throughout our meal to ensure we had everything we needed. In addition to the fantastic sushi, Kusshi Pentagon Row also offers a great selection of drinks, including sake and signature cocktails. We tried the Lychee Martini, which was sweet and refreshing, and the Sake Flight, which offered a range of different sakes to try. I recently had an absolutely terrible experience at Kusshi Sushi, and I feel compelled to warn others about the abysmal service they can expect here. This establishment, Kusshi Sushi, clearly has no regard for its customers, and I strongly advise against dining here. My companion and I entered Kusshi Sushi and sat down, only to be completely ignored for an unacceptable amount of time. Not a single waiter bothered to offer us even a glass of water. To make matters worse, a group of people arrived after us, sat right next to us, and were promptly attended to while we continued to be ignored. Fed up with the poor treatment, we decided to leave and let the staff at Kusshi Sushi know exactly how we felt. However, their response was shockingly dismissive, with no effort made to address our concerns or make amends for their appalling service. Words cannot express the level of disappointment and frustration I felt during this visit to Kusshi Sushi. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. Kusshi Sushi's complete disregard for customer satisfaction and refusal to provide even the most basic level of service is truly disheartening. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Kusshi Sushi at all costs. There are plenty of other establishments that prioritize their customers and value their experience, making for a far more enjoyable dining experience elsewhere. read more

From the moment we stepped into Kusshi Sushi, our group of three was greeted with warm welcome and an inviting atmosphere. We were in for a culinary treat, and our experience at this sushi bar exceeded our expectations. To start, we ordered Miso Soup, and it was a comforting and flavor delight. The miso broth was perfectly balanced, and the addition of silken tofu and scallions added a delightful texture and depth of flavor. It was a soothing beginning to our sushi feast. Next, we savored The California roll, and it was a true classic done exceptionally well. The combination of Kani, fish egg, and creamy avocado wrapped in rice was a delightful mix of flavors. Rolls were well seasoned, every biter taste of freshness. The highlight of our meal was the Crazy Tuna special roll. This sushi creation was an explosion of flavors that left us craving for more. The jalapeno sauce added a zesty and tangy note that brought the roll to a whole new level of deliciousness. Stuff were attentive and friendly, provided helpful recommendations. Yay! I don't need to drive all the way to the OG location in MD. (Although I happily would and did many times! ) I wanted to come and support Kusshi at their new location which happens to be less than 20 minutes away from me. (Dangerous haha) The ambience is definitely different for their new location, more of a fresh and light vibe! The location at pentagon row is prime and happy for them to be a part of if. The service. 10/10! Cassy was amazing and made the whole experience even better! My indecisive self and friend were taken care of and shared some laughs. Sushi. Of course what I expected. Amazing! I love the Chesapeake, Spider, and Cherry Blossom rolls. We also tried the Kusshi seared salmon. MUST TRY. Additionally we got the green tea chilled soba after some hesitation, but was delicious side to the sushi. (Also the sauce/wasabi dishes were a shiba and a panda... what more could you ask for!) I make sure to read all others' opinions before I try out a restaurant, and as many of you noticed, people in this page make huge fuss about the service here. To summarize my Monday night dine in experience, it was amazing. First of all, I love the atmosphere. Nice touch of the winter decoration throughout the bar sections. Fast service, plus I was surprised how much the bartenders knew about the sake selection. I exchanged words with the owner while I was waiting (Daniel? David?), and what a brilliant young man they got. I wouldn't really correct the staffs in front of the customer like that, but to me just proved how much he cares about what is getting served on my table. I've only seen this thick cut sashimi in Hawaii before, and I am happy to see it again here. well trained staffs and fresh fish. I can't expect more. Solid 5 star place. I hope for the best, and I wish to see you all expanding continuously! read more

I ordered ramen from this place and immediately noticed something was off -- it smelled bad, but I thought maybe it was just how the dish was supposed to be. I was wrong. The food tasted spoiled, and within hours I felt seriously ill. It's been two days and I'm still sick after eating it. This was not just bad flavor -- it was unsafe food. It's clear the ingredients were not fresh, and serving something like this is unacceptable. I had a great experience visiting this restaurant with my friend. We sat at the bar and got to try a late night special menu, which was great! The bartender, Kei was very timely with our order and made amazing cocktails and shooters. He also made some great recommendations to us. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. I consider myself a bit of a sushi freak. I just love it. I have to admit that Kusshi has the freshest sushi I ever had . Even the rice is perfect. It's amazing. I wish I lived closer. It's a must go to . Service was over the top nice and fast. The atmosphere is clean and well layed out with comfortable seating. Located in the courtyard that gives you a tremendous view. I used to love this place! Unfortunately, my last visit was a disappointing experience. We had to wait too long to place our order, and our drinks arrived only after we had finished our food.
