Nice selection of food in the menu, attractive feature dishes, unfortunately the oysters I wanted to try was sold out when I visited :( I got the hotate crudos and the scallops were HUGE. they were perfectly lightly seared, and didn't need the orange on top. They tasted super fresh and delicious. Sushi roll was good as well and came in a big portion.

Omg. If we don't talk about anything else. Let's just establish - THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Super fresh. Great portion prepared just as it should be. 18 piece sashimi platter amazing. Fatty tuna is from another world. So is everything else. Miso soup so delicious. Yellow tail spicy crab roll mouthwatering. Sake great. Atmosphere relaxed. Service fantastic. And so attentive. Prices reasonable. I am in love and cannot wait to return.

The miso soup and the sushi rolls were good. I didn't order anything complicated. The only thing that the restaurant got wrong for my delivery was that I said no green onions in the soup, and yet the soup arrived with onions. Ah, well. Not a big deal.

My girl Vivian was super nice and a great waitress. Since it was our first time she took the time to explain everything in the menu, including their specials. I couldn't pick out my favorite meal because everything we ordered was SO GOOD. They also are not shy about portions. Chicken karrage aioli was so good and tender (lots of meat instead of batter). They gave us a lot of tempura and the omakase set was great to share between two people. I highly recommend ordering this for a single person too!! Since we were sharing the omakase set, my husband and I also got two specialty rolls (ovi and crazy tuna). We LOVED the OVI roll but the crazy tuna was delicious too. Definitely will be coming back here regularly!

When traveling, you can always find me at a Japanese restaurant. This was a Yelp recommendation and I am happy with the results. The fish was fresh and my orders arrived very promptly. The service was great and it was a busy night with other patrons stopping in with their families for dinner. My favorite was definitely the toro sashimi. It was very fresh and fatty. I recommend it.

A group of four converged on the site for a late lunch on a lazy week day and we were excited to dine. The weather was cool so we opted to eat outside in the patio area. The menu (with pictures) look very appetizing, and the meals are adequately depicted, BUT...there are some issues. Although it was not busy, the delay in getting our meal was a bit disturbing. The rice was cold and our colleague's meal was delayed to the point that by the time I finished my meal, his was still "being prepared." He cancelled his order as the delay was long. The entrée was tasty, but alas also cold. So the question is whether the delay is worth it? I don't think so...

I was staying in Crystal City and walked over a mile out here specifically because this restaurant participates in the Dining Rewards Program, so by eating here I could earn my regular credit card miles along with American Airlines miles. By the time I arrived I was hot and tired and really looking forward to some good sushi. What I got was really meh. My server was very nice, and I was quite impressed with her mastery of the menu. When I asked her about different rolls, she knew from memory which ones came with six pieces or eight, and explained the size of the rolls to me so I could decide between large six pieces and eight regular pieces. I felt she checked up on me often enough. What was disappointing to me -- and the reason I'm only giving three stars -- is the food. And I might not have reviewed this place at all, except it offers an omakase option on the menu, which invites you customers to trust the chef to offer a great culinary experience. Offering omakase suggests that they are confident in their sushi skills. After eating here, I would say that confidence is a bit misplaced. My main gripe is how moist (borderline soggy) the sushi rice was on both my rolls. Sushi rice should not be dry. It should be a bit sticky, clump together. This requires adequate moisture. But it should not be soggy, as mine was. It really took away from my enjoyment. Secondly, I don't think the flavors and the texture of the sushi here is that great. It's not horrible, but compared to other places, I would say it's below average. There are two ways to approach sushi. The traditional Japanese way, which focuses on fresh ingredients and simple prep, or the American way where the flavor is not in the fresh fish but in the sauces and extras included in the roll along with the fish. The sushi here is prepped American style but the flavor was lacking to me. I ordered a California roll and instead of using mixed crab in a mayo, they straight up just cut imitation crab stick. To me that really takes away from the flavor. Maybe I'm being too picky. I'm no expert on sushi. But I've eaten it often enough to know what I like. And I feel there is better sushi to be had elsewhere.

Ordered the Got Beef? Such roll and I must say it was really good! In my opinion it costed $27/28 and that was a lot compared to the average prices I'm used to. The sushi roll has a sweet flavor that I can't figure but really enhances the flavor! I did ask for eel sauce because it was a bit dry to my tastebuds. I wish they added eel and spicy mayo to it. However the reason I give it a 4 star was because I waited 40 minutes to get my roll. The server was very sorry and offered a free drink and mochi on the house which i appreciate. The atmosphere was towards of the chill rather than upscale and fancy. It was a nice treat after a long day of shopping

I would give them a 3.75 stars not quite the 4-stars for me but still was pretty good. I went to this establishment on 3/17/25 and I ordered I believe spicy salmon, yellowtail with cream cheese, and another roll I can't quite remember but a tuna roll. It was during lunch time so the restaurant was empty and because I was by myself I decided to sit at the bar. The waiter was nice and ensure I had what I needed even though one roll was incorrect. The sushi was pretty fresh and the lunch prices was not that bad, but the parking situation just make sure you have some quarters to feed the meter. I would probably be back if they had a happy hour or during lunch again if I'm in the area.

Strictly a bar review but this was one of, if not the best, Kusshi sushi location I've been to. Clean small, well decorated and a cute bar! Service was amazing! The bartender even recommended a different style of my lychee drink for my second round so that I did not get an overly sweet taste in my mouth from the first lychee martini! She did a great job and was correct and guessing my preference! Would definitely return and have a bite there!

So happy that there is a decent sushi place near Pentagon now. Everything tastes so fresh and looks and feels high quality. Everyone here is so welcoming and nice. Our server Kei was especially accomodating! My husband loves raw fish but I prefer more cooked, and all his reccomendations were great. I sadly did not take a picture of my rolls but they were to die for. Lastly I asked him to make a cocktail for me that wasnt too sweet but not too sour or alcoholic tasting , and it was honestly perfect! Would definitely come here again and again. Unique drinks and fantastic service at the bar. Visited in person for my birthday in December and have been itching to go back for dinner. I tried a flight of dessert sake shots and loved everything I tried. Also had a few yummy beers I've never seen anywhere else. The other night, I ordered takeout as a treat and it was delicious!!! Threw the whole food order in the trash. Let's start with the rolls. Both firecracker and spider rolls predominantly tasted like oil soaked flour. Not sure if the oil temperature was too low or if fry oil just needed changing. Ordered several types of nigiri. Brûlée'd fatty salmon, toro, mackerel, and eel. Overall the quality of fish just was sub-par. As for the toro, $30 for two pieces which is typical. However, taste and texture appeared to be of a low grade. Mostly felt like I was chewing on a tendon. $100 down the drain. read more

The fries stayed crisp under the toppings, the bacon added plenty of flavor, and the jalapeños brought just enough heat to keep every bite interesting. BIG portions (with an extra side, each entree is a meal for two), everything hand-made, many nods to modern American cuisine such as the care they spend on sides and the well-crafted cocktails. Amazing how many things you can smoke. Now, drinks and food. Nothing liked a smoking whiskey cocktail, people sitting next to you will stare in envy (as well they should). Wife's grilled pineapple mojito was topped with such a large mint sprig, it was positively horticultural. Along with the complementary cornbread, a great start. My barbecue expert's half rack of St. Louis-style ribs was trimmed and plenty moist, with six BBQ sauces to choose from. Lots of pickle slices (cucumbers in any form are perfect with seasoned meat). I was surprised that last call occurred 45 minutes prior to closing, seeming to apply to both food and drinks (given the bartender's comment). We did the bottomless dinner, and the value is honestly unbeatable. We tried the grilled gem lettuce, marinated cucumbers, street corn, hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns, P22 cheeseburger sliders, spicy shrimp & pancetta pizza, funghi pizza, dan dan noodles, rigatoni norcina, and the sesame steak skewers. Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the dan dan noodles (rich, savory, and packed with flavor), the funghi pizza (crispy with earthy mushrooms and perfectly melted cheese), and the sesame steak skewers (tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful sesame glaze). The hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with melt-in-your-mouth pork, while the rigatoni norcina was creamy, comforting, and perfectly cooked. The grilled gem lettuce was also a fresh, flavorful way to start the meal. For drinks, the white sangria and pomegranate ginger mocktail were both refreshing and delicious. I recently had an absolutely terrible experience at Kusshi Sushi, and I feel compelled to warn others about the abysmal service they can expect here. This establishment, Kusshi Sushi, clearly has no regard for its customers, and I strongly advise against dining here. My companion and I entered Kusshi Sushi and sat down, only to be completely ignored for an unacceptable amount of time. Not a single waiter bothered to offer us even a glass of water. To make matters worse, a group of people arrived after us, sat right next to us, and were promptly attended to while we continued to be ignored. Fed up with the poor treatment, we decided to leave and let the staff at Kusshi Sushi know exactly how we felt. However, their response was shockingly dismissive, with no effort made to address our concerns or make amends for their appalling service. Words cannot express the level of disappointment and frustration I felt during this visit to Kusshi Sushi. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. Kusshi Sushi's complete disregard for customer satisfaction and refusal to provide even the most basic level of service is truly disheartening. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Kusshi Sushi at all costs. We were in for a culinary treat, and our experience at this sushi bar exceeded our expectations. To start, we ordered Miso Soup, and it was a comforting and flavor delight. The miso broth was perfectly balanced, and the addition of silken tofu and scallions added a delightful texture and depth of flavor. It was a soothing beginning to our sushi feast. Yay! I don't need to drive all the way to the OG location in MD. (Although I happily would and did many times! ) I wanted to come and support Kusshi at their new location which happens to be less than 20 minutes away from me. The service. 10/10! Cassy was amazing and made the whole experience even better! My indecisive self and friend were taken care of and shared some laughs. Sushi. Of course what I expected. Amazing! I love the Chesapeake, Spider, and Cherry Blossom rolls. We also tried the Kusshi seared salmon. MUST TRY. Additionally we got the green tea chilled soba after some hesitation, but was delicious side to the sushi. (Also the sauce/wasabi dishes were a shiba and a panda... what more could you ask for!) I make sure to read all others' opinions before I try out a restaurant, and as many of you noticed, people in this page make huge fuss about the service here. To summarize my Monday night dine in experience, it was amazing. First of all, I love the atmosphere. Nice touch of the winter decoration throughout the bar sections. Fast service, plus I was surprised how much the bartenders knew about the sake selection. I exchanged words with the owner while I was waiting (Daniel? David?), and what a brilliant young man they got. I wouldn't really correct the staffs in front of the customer like that, but to me just proved how much he cares about what is getting served on my table. I've only seen this thick cut sashimi in Hawaii before, and I am happy to see it again here. well trained staffs and fresh fish. I can't expect more. Solid 5 star place. I ordered ramen from this place and immediately noticed something was off -- it smelled bad, but I thought maybe it was just how the dish was supposed to be. I was wrong. The food tasted spoiled, and within hours I felt seriously ill. It's been two days and I'm still sick after eating it. This was not just bad flavor -- it was unsafe food. It's clear the ingredients were not fresh, and serving something like this is unacceptable. I will never go back and strongly recommend others avoid this restaurant for your health and safety. read more

I had a great experience visiting this restaurant with my friend. We sat at the bar and got to try a late night special menu, which was great! The bartender, Kei was very timely with our order and made amazing cocktails and shooters. He also made some great recommendations to us. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. The GM, David even came by to check up on us and made sure we had a great night out. Overall, I would come back again and recommend to everyone! read more

I consider myself a bit of a sushi freak. I just love it. I have to admit that Kusshi has the freshest sushi I ever had . Even the rice is perfect. It's amazing. I wish I lived closer. It's a must go to . Service was over the top nice and fast. The atmosphere is clean and well layed out with comfortable seating. Located in the courtyard that gives you a tremendous view. I used to love this place! Unfortunately, my last visit was a disappointing experience. We had to wait too long to place our order, and our drinks arrived only after we had finished our food. Moreover, the food itself was unfresh and had a bad taste. Sadly, this will be my last visit to this restaurant. read more

Went here the other day and I have to say it was amazing. My friend and I were seated at the sushi bar and it was cool to see the chefs at work. Our server was so nice to us We ordered the Rainbow roll as well as the pork gyoza and everything came out great. We will be coming back again! read more
