Team was polite, but removed my car filter, removed my windshield wipers, and then called me out there to look at my car with those things removed trying to sell me engine coolant and other things. So they're definitely gonna try to sell you more things than what you asked for. Office inside is not clean, but that's not shocking considering the type of business it is. I brought my car in for an oil change and flush in February. My engine blew in March because there was no oil in the engine. What caused the oil leak is that the filter was not tightened and my engine leaked oil until there was none. I reached out to this location as soon as I found out what the issue was, and no accountability was taken from the manager Chris and the owner has been unresponsive to my request speak with him. I came in around 11:30 am for a state inspection. After about 5 min, they told met that my tire treads were too low and wouldn't pass. I just got new tires and they are lower profile tires since my car is like a sports car, so I definitely knew that wasn't a problem. But I just said okay, thanks and left. I drove to a different place later on in the day and my car passed the inspection. I'm not sure if it was cause it was almost lunch time and they just didn't want to do the work or its cause they didn't know anything about lower sports tires. Either way my dad has had issues with this location before and according to other reviews it seems like other people have too. Will probably never come to this location again. read more

I've taken my car there about 4 times to get an oil change, think all was well. I've noticed these last two times my car would not accelerate past a certain speed. We've check the oil and completely out! Either they're ripping us off or not putting enough oil, regardless for the price that is unacceptable. I've not gone back since noticing. I'm we have not had a problem with oil running out before due for another oil change. I'm worried because we had engine and transmission flush there as well. So we will see read more

MECHANIC SMOKING CIG IN MY TRUCK Even with a $5 off coupon it was $41 which is ridiculous for an oil change... Worst thing was one of the mechanics smoking a cig while vacuuming my truck. Over price, they don't do everything that they say they would, especially what's on their oil change package. They really never check your fluids or tire air pressure when doing an oil change, until they pull your car to the front and you start inspecting it. DO NOT GO HERE (at least being recognizable as a new driver / car owner.) Went in because I saw a five dollar off coupon for an oil change. I brought in my new Chevy 2015 Sonic and was told that I'd have to pay almost $100 for a full synthetic oil change. Nevermind the fact that they wouldn't even accept the merely $5 coupon, but even as a new car owner I'm no idiot to not know that they were ripping me off. They are very rude. Even getting a synthetic oil change from a Chevy dealer directly will be less than $40. I told them eventually that I do not want the oil change, but ten mins after telling them they come back saying that the oil change has been completed already and I'd have to pay the $100. When I expressed frustration for their attempt to rip me off, the owner yelled at me to leave the premise. I had to wait outside in the sun when there were ample space inside to wait. I would have considered paying the %250 overpriced rate if they made an attempt to even convince me, but no - they tried to force sell a service. OVERALL: THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU. WHEN YOU DENY THEIR SERVICE DUE TO THEIR OVERPRICING, THEY WILL FORCE SELL YOU THEIR SERVICE BY DOING SOMETHING YOU DID NOT ASK FOR WITHOUT TELLING YOU. SCAMMERS......AVOID THESE CROOKS that take advantage of elderly women. My 90+ year old mother took her ford into this location with 40,000 miles on it in for an oil change. They tried to talk her into over $400 worth of service including radiator flush, fuel injector cleaning, transmission flush,and brake fluid flush. She was ultimately talked into $230 worth of transmission flush and brake line flush while her manual recommends changing the transmission fluid at 150,000. Now, before some smart ass responds that, well "her fluid must have been discolored or burnt" BULL SHIT. I have seen this scam being pulled on unsuspecting people, but I never thought to warn my mother. In case some turd from Kwik Kar responds with some bull, I'll let you know that I have worked on my own cars for 40 years. Save your hard earned money. My sisters car overheated late one Sunday. This was the closest place that was open that we could safely drive her car to. They put it on the lift and did a pressure test and said her radiator was shot. They were able to find one replace it that day, the tech even stayed late to complete it and we were grateful. A few days later, she was driving down the highway and her car started overheating AGAIN! Miraculously, she was right where she needed to be to exit and head straight back to Kwik Kar. They looked and told her a "part" broke off and it wouldn't be much money to replace. She told them that obviously, they had broken said part when "repairing" her car and they needed to fix it-no charge. They reluctantly agreed. A week later, she calls me and says her car is overheating AGAIN! I can't tell you how disappointed we are. We thought these guys knew what they were doing, but $600.00 later, obviously we were wrong. read more

My mother, who is undergoing chemo treatments, took her car in for an oil change the last week of August, 2015. Unfortunately, they convinced her she needed new brake pads (front and rear), a coolant flush, fuel system flush, and brake line flush. The total cost was approximately $675. She drives a 2 year old Hyundai SUV with less than 11k miles. I went by my local (and honest) Kwik Kar franchise on Frankford and Midway with my mom's bill. They told me that the coolant flush is recommended at 120k. If there were any brake issues with the car, they would have told her to take it to the dealer. The fuel system flush was bogus too. They recommended my mom file a complaint with the TX Attorney General (which has been done this week). Bottom line, take your car somewhere else! read more

Kwik Kar Lube are independently owned and more or less unaccountable for their actions. I took my Daughters 1998 Taurus to the location at 13303 Josey Lane for a state inspection because there was an $8 off coupon in the Valpak coupons I received in the mail. They took the car inside and after a couple of minutes, the "inspector" came in and told me that my brakes were "worn out" and all 4 wheels required replacing at $200 plus, he took me into the bay and showed me in between the spokes of the wheels, "see, they are almost touching the rotors", and said all 4 wheels had to be replaced to pass inspection. I asked him if the car stopped straight and true without any noises, he said yes, I told him that met the requirements of the safety inspection, he said his "visual" inspection failed it. I went inside and spoke to the Manager/Owner and told him that his "inspector" was scamming me with the caliper to rotor clearance that is a fixed bolted in place clearance and didn't indicate the condition of the brake pads, he said the inspectors word was final. I informed him that I would be filing a complaint with the State. I took pictures of the "problem" and filed a complaint and spoke to the state about this, they said this was not the first complaint of fraudulent practice at this location and would follow through with an investigation. I went home and removed the brake pads, they were over 7 millimeters thick, not even worn half way. Before you go ANYWHERE to get your inspection, go to the state website and see what the requirements are to pass the inspection and take it with you. BTW I stopped at Firestone on the way home and got the car inspected, they said the brakes were perfect. I am 67 years old and started working on cars at my dad's gas station when I was 13, I have a degree in electronics and mechanics/hydraulics and am nobody's fool. read more

this is a crooked shop! read this and do not go here. beware! my son took his truck for a $25 inspection at this place. the brakes were fine. i had driven it that morning. the tech told my son it would not pass inspection because of the brakes but of course they could fix them. not knowing, my son agreed. my son texted me and told me what had happened so i ask him to put the tech on the phone. when i asked the tech about it he said they were "required by the state" to get under the truck and look at the brakes. this is a lie. my son had agreed to the work and it was complete when i found out so it was too late to stop them. bottom line...they saw an opportunity to take advantage of a young person and did it. what should have been a $25 inspection turned into a $180 unnecessary repair that did not need to happen for it to pass inspection. they are crooked and will take advantage of who ever they can. beware! read more

I am such a fan of this shop! Today was my second time coming to this location for an oil change along with other routine preventative maintenance. I typically go to the Acura dealership for service but the wait time is extremely long, the drive is just too far from where I live, and it's pricey. With that being said, I stumbled upon Kwik Kar on Josey a few months ago. Let me tell you, these guys are amazing!! I trust them and they are super efficient. The customer service is outstanding and they really work well together. They addressed all my concerns and have definitely earned my trust. As a woman that's really important. Ladies, I definitely recommend this shop. It's truly a great feeling to have peace of mind knowing your mechanic is HONEST. Also, the waiting area was very clean and cool which was important as it was about 95 degrees today.They even provided me with a coupon which saved me a substantial amount of money. Overall the professionalism and customer service from the entire staff was very refreshing and I am very grateful to have a shop close by to service my car with time still left in the day to run errands etc. Lets just say I had a big smile on my face after coming here again. read more

My breaks squeaked due to the water and the guy told me they would not pass inspection and I needed new ones right away. I left. Please don't give these scammers any of your money. Scam alert. These guys changed my oil and for weeks following I noticed a small oil leak in my driveway that continually got worse. I brought my car back in to see if maybe it was a faulty oil filter or maybe it wasn't tightened all the way. They pulled the car in and diagnosed a problem within about 2 minutes. The mechanic came out and told me that it was the oil cooler gasket that was causing the leak and that my car didn't have one. I told them I wasn't planning to pay for a problem that wasn't there before they worked on it. And I found it completely convenient that this problem just occurred after visiting them and that my cooler gasket mysteriously disappeared. They made it sound like it was a common problem but a complicated fix and quoted me $380 to replace the gasket. I ended up leaving and bought the part for $7 at a local auto part store and had a friend replace it for $20 labor. No issues since. I would give them zero stars for their shady ness. read more
