Great guys; poor service. Been to this shop twice in the past year. First to fix a transmission leak, and second to repair a failed transmission. Both times they claimed to be really busy, so would take a week to get to it, but they never did. The car just sat, and followup phone calls did nothing to convince me they ever would look at the vehicle. So, had the leak repaired at another shop, and now the transmission rebuilt elsewhere as well. The owner of the shop and his techs all come across as extremely knowledgeable, but unfortunately are uncomfortable with telling a customer they're not interested in his vehicle. Drive an older front-wheel drive, 4-cylinder, car which is likely the problem. Based on the vehicles parked in-and-around the shop, it's SUVs and pickups sporting V8s for as far as the eye can see. They have saved us thousands of dollars in unneeded work on our cars, and didn't charge us a dime to take a look. These guys are great. Phil rebuilt the TH400 transmission in my 69 CST10 and it's runs like a top. No issues since.

Many years ago (2011) I took my Ford Escape to get a new transmission. They charged fair price and installed a transmission oil cooler as part of the replacement. Told me Texas heat kills transmissions and this was needed. It wasn't an upsell. It was included in price. They said they wouldn't warranty without it. Second, they reinspected after I drove it a bit to confirm work and no leaks. This Escape performed for another 100k miles with no transmission issues. Obviously this is just my one time experience many years ago but I hope they are still around next time I need them - as I like to keep cars a long time. (15-20 years) read more

10 out of 10. Phil was amazingly helpful. He diagnosed the problem that turned out to be a sensor and not the whole transmission that I feared it was. He offered to replace it for me but suggested that I could probably do it myself faster than he could get it back to me. He showed where the sensor was and gave basic instructions on how to go about replacing it. Saved me time and money. I highly recommend this shop! Bonus is the shop cat the roams the lobby and loves to cuddle after just a few minutes of being in the room. read more

My drive shaft *literally* fell off of my car when I turned in front of their building. It was Sunday, so they weren't open. I left my car there and returned Monday morning. They came out, immediately assisted me and quoted me a price. They gave me a ride back to my house and had the work done the next morning. (They had to order the part) They were nice, professional and honest. I went back a few months later, as my car was making an awful sound. They looked at it immediately and told me it was my muffler. They referred me to a shop that specifically handles mufflers and didn't charge me anything. I went to their referral shop where I was shown the problem and had it fixed for no cost. I've had transmissions "fixed" before and they usually hold up "OK", but these guys rebuilt my Chevy Silverado transmission better than factory. I've waited 90 plus days to write this review because that's how long it usually takes before an auto "repair" starts to come undone or begins to act up again. Well, nothing could be farther from the truth. My truck shifts as smooth as silk and that's saying a hell of a lot, because I am a mechanic but I don't do transmissions and I am a very, very picky customer. The shop is well equipped for both standard and automatic trans repair/replace. Wow talk about going above and beyond. I have an old Nissan truck with a rear axle problem. They were able find the problem, implement a solid repair for a fraction of the cost of a new rear axle. It's not like it's ever ideal to have to go to one of these places when your transmission goes out. My family has used Hackler's for many, many years and we appreciate their honest work and their quality work. I spoke with John and as soon as I picked my car up, he told me to come back in two weeks so they can make sure all is well and that I could call him if I had any concerns or questions.
