If I could choose zero stars I would. The service is very expensive but that is besides the point. My car screen has now a bubble issue because of these people. The regional manager was present and he stated "that there was no way they did that" and was extremely rude in the process. The only thing I had done that day was to take my car for an oil change and get all the works that they recommended (spent $454) and now I have a messed up screen! I am extremely frustrated that there is no accountability and denial of this very apparent lack of care for my car. This is a place I highly recommend avoiding at all costs!! read more

Kwik Kar Review - BEWARE! Zero stars if possbile On May of 2023 I had an oil change at Kwik Kar on 11th and Waverly (I have used their service for that last 15 years). On January 22, 2024, I was driving home from work and something on the bottom of my car was dragging on the street. I immediately took the car to my mechanic on Yale, and they informed me that the Skid Plate was missing and that the valve that needs to be opened to drain the oil was missing a screw and that was the part that was dragging on the ground. I contacted Kwik Kar that same day and spoke with Roman James, Assistant Manager, and asked him if he could replace the skid plate. He told me he would contact his manager, Louis Mackey. I stopped by three days later, and he had not been in touch with Louis. I called Louis Mackey directly and he told me that they would not replace the part. He said that the plate could have gone missing at any time and that people steel thing off cars all the time. He specifically mentioned that catalytic converters were a big theft item, to which I responded, "they left the converter, but took the skid plate instead?" He didn't have an answer for that. When I spoke to my mechanic about his response, he stated that it was not possible that the skid plate could have fallen off without my notice and would have probably cost more damage to the car if it had fallen off while on the road. For $60, Kwik Kar could have replaced the pad and I would not be writing this review. Please do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else. If you do use this service, check your car before you leave and make sure the parts you came in with, are still on your car. read more

They didn't screw the oil cap back on so all the oil drained without me knowing and almost damaged my entire car engine, when it was checked by someone different the man told me he was able to unscrew it with his hand. I've had very good luck here, but on the other hand I was disappointed when visiting for my last oil change. I had my oil changed here changed numerous times. The last time that I went I in, (which is the last time I will go here) I simply asked for my normal oil change and I was in their computer system. When they told me my car was ready, I went to pay and found it was cheaper than the last time. I asked if they put in synthetic oil and was told no. Although I didn't specifically request synthetic oil, since I was in the system, that's what I should have received and would have paid for. I write this review as a first hand witness to the EXCEPTIONAL response by Kwik Kar Lube & Tune management for a very dear friend of mine, who's traumatic experience had a happy end result.    She stopped into the 619 W. 11th ST location for an oil change, just as she had done many times before, without incident. The following day, while driving on the freeway, she heard a strange sound from under the car, prompting her to pull over. That's when she noticed a large amount of oil leaking out. She had her car towed to the nearest mechanic, only to learn that the oil pan screw had fallen out. Left with no choice, she paid to have it repaired. She then contacted Kwik Kar Lube & Tune and spoke to Kendrick, who immediately refunded the cost of the oil change without hesitation. But he didn't stop there. He quickly moved forward, taking the necessary steps to make sure that she was refunded the cost of towing AS WELL AS the repairs!   My dear friend was treated with the highest level of respect and care throughout this whole process.  This is the type of service which sets this particular shop apart from so many others, and what meant so much to her and to me!   There are so many places to choose from for an oil change, but you will NOT find many places who actually CARE about each customer like this Kwik Kar location does!    I highly recommend them for quality service and outstanding customer care! read more

I took my vehicle in Oct 28th, 2019, they said after trying to start the car a couple of times i needed a new starter. What they actually installed was a Re-manufactured starter from Mexico. Be careful of this business. When this starter failed 2.25 months later, they refused to stand behind their so called 1 Yr Guarantee. On January 6th, 2020 i took it to them to correct, they said it wasn't their problem. I took it to a Triple AAA garage, where its guaranteed 5 years. When i told them what Triple AAA said, then Slaters wanted me to bring it back a second time and let them fix it. I figured 1 bad experience was enough. Beware, they certainly dont take care of the disabled. I would have given them no stars but then you cant leave a review. BBB said i should take them to small claims court. read more

My husband usually changes the oil & filter in my car. But this time, he decided to take it to Kwik Kar. When I got my car back (volvo xc60), it was leaking oil. My husband took my car back to the store. They said the filter was loose and said they fixed it. Car was still leaking oil. I took my car to the dealership. They put the filter in correctly and cleaned the leaked oil off my engine. Go to this store if you have money, time, and patience to waste. Also, they stole my Rayban aviators that I had left in the car and my husband did not take out. Just purchased that week! always used them for oil changes, no complaints there. one day I had them do my brakes, front & back. the next day my car was squealing like a pig. I took it back, they claimed "nothing was wrong with it". in total I took my car back 4 different times, and they did nothing to fix the problem. they lost me as a customer after that, I've never gone back, nor have my family or my friends, after telling them about my experience there. a month later I had to pay for another brake job because the noise it was making was unbearable and not to mention, quite embarrassing!! turns out they used the cheapest pads they could find and didn't lubricant them at all. all they had to do was do the job right and I'd still be a customer!! but they wanted to play hardball so.... read more

***Update: I took my car to the dealership. They ran diagnostics and there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. I was advised that many "shops" will say things to try and sell a service. My vehicle passed inspection without issues. I stand by my review that things didn't feel right at this location. Maybe their equipment was faulty. Maybe they did do something. All I know is that I won't be back.*** So, you know when something just doesn't feel right? That was my last experience at this location. I brought my car in for an inspection and oil change. The guy gives me the usual "this is on maintenance checklist and is overdue" talk. I agree to do an oil flush and have my inspection done. About 5 minutes later I am approached by another gentleman who tells me that my car did not pass inspection. Mind you, this is a 2016, sole owner, all work/maintenance has been done at the this location or the dealership. They proceed to tell me that my car not only did not pass inspection, but the check engine light is now on, and my car battery is dead. My check engine light was not on prior to coming in and I had not had as much as a sputter of an issue with my battery. I am now talking to them and they tell me that my battery is at end of life since it is from 2013. I tell them that is impossible since my car was bought brand new at the dealership in 2016. I tell them then and there that this doesn't feel right. No issues prior and all of a sudden all kinds of things. I tell them that I am going to go buy a new battery and then take my car to the dealership. This is where again it gets fishy. They don't charge me for the inspection that my car failed and do not charge me for the oil flush. While this may sound great, I did not request this and felt as though they were now trying to cover up a mistake by trying to appease me and get me out the door. I again, told them I did not feel comfortable when I was paying to which I was told "oh, you don't want your $112 discount?" I thought it was strange that they didn't charge me when I asked for those specific services be done. When I got home and went down the checklist that they completed, I realized they didn't do some of the things they checked off as yes. No interior vacuuming, no glass cleaning. These things may seem trivial but now I'm wondering what else they didn't do. When I got home, I called to speak to the manager and spoke to Sam, who became quite unnecessarily defensive and even asked me if I was going to sue because I asked if they had camera footage. Little did I know he was the person I was talking to when at the location. Not once did he identify himself as a manager or addressed my concerns outside of "you'll need to go to AutoZone." Had I known he was the manager, I would not have even called him. I would've gone one level higher. And that's what I did. Unhappy with how Sam handled the situation, I called Louis, the Regional Manager. He listened and then gave me stock customer service answers, none of which addressed any of my concerns. He then tells me that "we didn't charge you so you can buy a new battery." Aw, thanks, but when did I become your dependent? Again, this feels like they did something wrong just like when they were trying to get me out the door in the first place. My trust in this location (and possibly the entire chain) is damaged. This is why people are wary of mechanics. I will be taking my car to the dealership and will update this review based on what I find out. read more

SCAM Inspection.... Do not give this place your business. Exactly as Karl K.. described it, I went in to get my car inspected, the mechanic pulled me from the waiting area to tell me that my car would fail the inspection due to "cracks in my AC belt" and replacing it would run me $180. The catch was, he had he already passed me in the system and if I paid him $50 cash he would give me the sticker no questions asked. Initially I was skeptical about the belt, but when he wanted me to bribe him, my guard instantly went up. Unfortunately for him, he already passed me in the system and could not undo it. So I held my ground and told him I would have to price around for the belt (which doesn't need to be replaced what so ever...). He seemed annoyed that I wouldn't budge and put the sticker on my car. As what other people have said, avoid this place like a plague. read more

Ok, so I am skeptical about the negative reviews. I have been there twice now and have had nothing but a pleasurable experience. First visit I had an oil change, it was $35, and I could have gone somewhere else and gotten it cheaper, but it is so close to home and there was no wait. They told me I should prob change my air filter, (it was super dirty), so add $15. The staff was extremely nice to me. Even told me about coupons they send out. Score. They did tell me I needed to flush my power steering fluid, but I told them no thanks and had them top off the fluid. Second visit, I had my state inspection done. All state inspections are regulated to be the same price, so there is no way they could have boned me for that. They were done in about 15 minutes. Passed and re-stickered. The tech did mention the power steering fluid again, but I am going to have a second opinion and negotiate a deal. Again, the staff was super friendly and I had no problems. I am a young looking female, but my father taught me to ask the right kind of questions. I will continue to patronize Kwik Kar until there is a reason not to. read more

I paid well over $100 for an oil change here, and it was more expensive than what the Audi dealer charges. I couldn't believe it. They gave me the "full service" oil change (which theoretically included a number of extra services), even though I did not request anything more than an oil change. I watched them work and they only performed the oil change; the suite of extra services they charged me for were not done. I was taken advantage of and ripped off. Please do not follow my lead. Let Yelp help substantiate Darwin's theory and avoid this place altogether. read more

The service is always friendly and very helpful. I only go to this place for small things like oil changes and inspections. They're great for that. They'll also let you know what maintenance needs to be done to your car/truck. I've used this place for the past 2 years and I've yet to have bad service. I'm shocked at the rating of this place. Horrible business! I went in for a state inspection, all went well. Shortly after leaving, my BMW X5 started overheating. I made it home to investigate. I found the radiator was empty! I filled it with fluid, just under 2 gallons! I have no proof that the drained my radiator, but the car is well maintained and I've never had this problem before. Also, the overheating stopped after filling the radiator. I called them and they said I probably had a leak, I don't. Just my experience, look elsewhere. Just to update. I had a business trip where my car sat at the airport for three days. I returned to NO puddle of coolant. Unbelievable! read more

This was the second time I've driven in with the "my car is making a funny noise" problem. The gentleman explained to me what was wrong and what would need replacing. Even showed me what it would cost. I approved the work and went home. They called to say that they found another problem, gave me an estimate which I approved. There was never any pressure and I could have said no at any time. When I went back to get my car the gentleman explained in great detail the workings of the parts, the way they worked and why they probably broke down. So for the second time the funny noise has been taken care of and I am a very satisfied customer. I have been getting inspections here since 2002, but ownership changed at some point in the past. I have several vehicles: an RV, a truck, and 2 automobiles. I get all of my inspections here because of a long business relationship and they are really quick. But today, I noticed a sign in the office that said, "Ask how to save $12 on your state inspection" so I asked. He responded that I had to get an oil change with the inspection. Since I patronize a business that offers me a Veteran discount, I inquired if they offer one. He said "we don't give discounts on state inspections, the inspection is a fixed price." I am aware of this, so I asked again about any Veteran discount offer. He asked what (service) do I want? I just wanted to know the offer for Veteran's. Again, he said no discount on state inspections. I know!!! Finally, he said 10%. At this point, I just wanted the inspection and leave. I walked out of the office to my car still in the bay. When he came around to pull out my car, he said, "Why do you have to make my job so f***ing difficult?" Then he got in my car and yelled "F**K!" I thought WTF??? I went in to pay and asked him, "Did I piss you off?" He didn't respond of course. All I did was what the sign said, and I ended up getting cussed out! WOW! I guess this 20 year business relationship is OVER! All I can say is WOW! But that's alright, never again!!!! I'll get my inspections done somewhere else from now on! I was charged $104 for an oil change. When I brought this outrageous price to their attention I was rudely given the run about that my car took synthetic oil and the up charge was $45. No where in my life has a $25 oil change ever cost me over four times what it should have cost. This place is literally stealing money from its own community. read more

Dollar up charge for synthetic oil change and I was told I had to use synthetic oil and they where right but I would rather they tell me that before so I could have made the decision to have it done there .I will never go back in there I will blow an engine be fore they screw me out of another penny read more

I didn't actually get any service done here, but I came to get an oil change on my vehicle. My vehicle was still under dealership warranty, so I technically get free oil changes at the dealership but it was so far out I figured this would be easier than driving all the way out of town. When I arrived they immediately came up to my car, and made things very easy for me (I had my toddler with me too). They were extremely professional and courteous. When I came inside they quickly let me know that my car took synthetic oil and it would cost more and asked if I wanted the service. I had no idea that this was the case, so I was SO appreciative that they let me know this BEFORE they started working on my car!!! With this new information, I of course decided to save the $75 and go to the dealership. But, when my warranty is out I will be returning here. read more

Just this morning I went to have my oil changed at this location and I found the service to be exceptional. The staff was friendly and very helpful with other issues that came up while my car was there, like my car not starting when they were done. They assisted me with having my old battery tested to see if it only needed to be charge. Since the battery was almost 10 years old I needed to replace it. They did so with no service charge for putting it in. As a woman I never felt talk down to as if I didn't know what was going on. They were true gentleman. I highly recommend these guys. Went with the boyfriend to get his inspection done here today. Joshua met us as we pulled up and was really friendly and personable. After drive testing it he showed us he needed an oil change. When he stated that he had only budgeted for the inspection Joshua offered ten dollars off to make it affordable. We were there for maybe an hour. Not too bad in my opinion for how busy they were. Each person working there was friendly. Joshua especially. I'm not an easy person to impress with customer service. I've been told my expectations are extremely high for these things. I was throughly impressed with everything. He was consistent and checked in with the waiting room to make sure no one felt left in the dark about their cars where abouts are or the progress of their service.
