Got the Vanilla Bean Matcha. I really wanted to try this place and it was so worth it. Everything on the menu sounded so good so I didn't even know what to decide. The vanilla bean cold foam was so good. The vanilla had a strong smell and taste which I really liked. The matcha was really good and prob one of my fav matchas I've had. I kinda wonder what type of matcha they used since I didn't ask but it was delicious.

Tried this small matcha shop in downtown San Diego that shares a location with a vintage thrift store and has a clothing boutique next door. They also have a cute photobooth. I tried the banana biscoff matcha, but they have a bunch of other fun and unique flavor options including Dubai chocolate and blue coconut. The drink presentation was very pretty, as their cups are super cute! The banana foam, biscoff syrup, and biscoff crumbles tasted good, but the matcha itself had an unusually thick texture. The matcha was also quite warm until the ice was able to be mixed in. I usually prefer my matcha sweet, but this drink was a little too sweet even for me, so next time I would recommend adjusting the sweetness.

Came in during a stay in SD! Kyoto Coast Matcha is currently located inside of a boutique with street parking nearby limited to metered only (free Sundays!). I came by on a Sunday morning and there was no line. Service was quick and polite. There is very limited indoor and outdoor seating, I would say this is a to-go style spot. Coconut Cloud Matcha 5/5! This looked so cute and I ordered it with minimal sweetness which is how I would recommend ordering this as the blue coconut cream on top will add sweetness to the drink itself so your drink won't be too sweet otherwise

I have been wanting to check out Kyoto Coast Matcha since it popped up on my FYP a couple months ago and was really excited when they re-opened in Little Italy. Kyoto Coast Matcha shares a space with a boutique store which was super cute. Parking can be a pain in Little Italy especially on a Saturday but was really lucky to find street parking a block away. There was a little bit of a line when we came by but it went by pretty quickly. All matchas are $9 which I find to be a little bit on the pricier side but not out of the norm and they do not have dairy milk, I think they had either almond or oat milk, so very friendly for those who can't do dairy milk. I ordered the Earl Grey Matcha, I am an avid matcha drinker and love Earl Grey tea so I definitely wanted to combine the two. The barista was really friendly and they were definitely busy but my drink came out in good time. The barista mentioned they make this with an Earl Grey syrup. I was a little disappointed that I found the matcha was bitter, the water may have been a little too hot when they were whisking it because that was not the best matcha I have had. For the price point I wished it were better.

Street, metered parking (free on Sunday). Park a few blocks up the street. The closer you are to the shop the more difficult parking is. Located inside a thrift shop on the left side. They have a cute Photo Booth at the back. Menu/ordering located near the left side. No cash accepted, credit card only. Pick up from the right side. This is a grab and go spot, there is a standing bar near the window where lids and straws are located. Tried: Blue sky cloud matcha $9 and banana biscoff matcha $9. The drink prices are higher than any other matcha place I have been to and the cup size is very small. Overall matcha flavor was good however due to high price and small cup size, I would not recommend this as a go to matcha spot. Check out their instagram as they will be offering matcha making classes soon.

100% worth!!!! It was so cute and so good! I had to have mine sweetened a little bit but the workers knew the exact amount of sweetener! It was wonderful!!! Also a great area for plane watching if that's ur thing!

I came in for their soft opening yesterday after revamping this location and man! To start off with, when you're waiting for your order, they share a space with a consignment type business so you can browse little trinkets and secondhand clothes while you wait. My drink was sooo delicious. I decided to try the Blue Sky Cloud Matcha and I'm still dreaming about it. The blue foam was to die for and of course their matcha is ceremonial grade so you know it's the best quality. I bought the Vanilla Bean Dream for my coworker and she said it was one of the best matcha drinks she's ever had. Definitely give this place a try, you won't regret it!

    Keep refrigerated for freshness.

The Holy Grail of Matcha Lattes with Unmatched Service! I so rarely post reviews, but my experience at Kyoto Coast Matcha today was too incredible not to share. I ordered the Double Matcha and the Earl Grey Matcha, and both were delicious. The real kicker is that their non-dairy matcha tastes even better than the dairy versions I normally get! What blew me away even more was the staff. They are beyond kind. When I accidentally spilled one of my drinks trying to put the lid on, they were so comforting and understanding because they could see how terrible I felt. I've never experienced such amazing customer service. This place is a total gem and a must-visit. Please bring them your business! Value Tip for Matcha Lovers: 1/2 teaspoon of the matcha is 70mg caffeine which is about one standard cup of coffee or 2 espresso shots. Most matcha powders I've come across are 25-35mg, so I tend to use them up pretty quickly to get my coffee cup's worth. So, their matcha is a much better value than most matcha since you can use less to get a potent caffeine kick.

This was a really cute spot. The line was long, but moved very quickly, and I didn't feel rushed at all! The server was very helpful in helping me figure out what I want, and he actually gave some cool recommendations that weren't even on the menu! The matcha tasted great once all stirred together. Would recommend grabbing this before walking around the cute neighborhood!

Not much parking around but this place is located inside a store. Pretty cute but not really an actual cafe. I thought the drink/matcha was good! Would come back to try some other drinks.

I was browsing around for matcha latte's in SD and this was the one I was excited to try. I didn't realize it was a little pop up shop which was okay. For the drinks ~ I got the strawberry matcha - 3/5, it was more biter and lacking sweetness. The matcha flavor wasn't there. My BF got the banana matcha based on my suggestion from the reviews and it also wasn't any better. I don't think I will be back, but the workers are nice.

I did not like it. I was so excited about this place because I had seen it all over TikTok, but I was disappointed by their matcha.

When I arrived, there was a very long line, but because my order had already been placed, I went to the designated pickup area. While waiting, I watched the employee behind the counter speak politely and normally to other customers. When it was my turn, I turned my phone around and politely said, "Hi, I'm here to pick up for" Before I could even finish my sentence, the employee looked at my phone, rolled his eyes, turned away from me, and went to retrieve the order. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no basic courtesy. He handed me the order while staring at me, rolled his eyes again, and immediately returned to the register. The interaction was so noticeably hostile that I looked back at him and asked, "What's your problem?" He immediately turned away and began helping someone else. I then asked another employee whether there was a manager available and explained what had just happened. Her response was essentially that there was "a lot going on" and that they were busy. Being busy does not excuse treating a customer disrespectfully especially when I had just watched other customers receive normal, courteous service. What made this experience particularly concerning was what happened next. While I was still making sure my large order was complete, another customer approached the pickup area. The same employee who would not even allow me to finish my sentence immediately greeted this man with, "Hello, how can I help you?" and proceeded to speak to him politely and professionally. That was the exact basic courtesy I had been denied only moments earlier. As a Black woman, I cannot ignore that difference in treatment. I watched this employee demonstrate that he was perfectly capable of greeting customers, communicating professionally, and being courteous. He simply chose not to extend that same treatment to me. Based on what I personally witnessed, the disparity felt prejudicial and discriminatory. I then walked to the neighboring sister establishment to ask how I could contact management because I had not been provided helpful management information inside the coffee shop. Ironically, the employee I spoke with there was also Latino, and he treated me with complete respect. He listened, offered to get a manager, asked whether I was okay, and apologized that I had experienced something uncomfortable. That interaction is important because my complaint is not about anyone's ethnicity it is about the specific behavior of the employees who dealt with me at the coffee shop. What was also strange was that the coffee shop employees who had just explained that everything was so hectic suddenly had plenty of time to stand at the counter and watch me while I spoke with the neighboring business. They continued watching me until I got into my car. There had been an enormous line of customers, yet somehow the "too busy" explanation disappeared when it came time to watch what I was doing after I asked about management. That made an already uncomfortable situation feel even more hostile. The Smoking Gun needs to seriously evaluate who it places in customer-facing positions. Customers should not have to wonder whether their race affected the basic level of dignity and courtesy they received. If an employee is overwhelmed or having a bad day, take a break, ask for help, or work away from the front counter. What you do not do is selectively discard basic manners with one customer and then immediately demonstrate those same manners to the next. I came in to pick up coffee for a wedding. I was polite. I was there to collect an order and leave. There was absolutely no reason for me to be treated with hostility. I will be filing a formal complaint with management regarding this incident. I hope management takes it seriously, reviews what occurred, and provides its staff with appropriate customer-service and anti-discrimination training. No paying customer should be treated as though basic respect is optional. And yes, they can run the cameras back it'll be in there ! Then to ice the cake, they literally got the order wrong and didn't give me all the items for the party that I was taking it to! Could look me up and down but not look the orders up and down !

First, street parking only but don't let that deter you from coming coz every inch or foot that you spend walking to this place is all worth it. Secondly, love the ambiance. Reminds me a lot of those ikazaya pubs in Japan but a little more chic and modern. They have bar seating of about 10 and 6-8 tables inside. But they also have outdoor seating. So I came at exactly 11 am and I was the second guest and they sat me at the bar. By 11:30 am, the entire resto was full, not granting it was a Saturday morning but people prolly got smart to come here early before the lunch crowd gets bigger. So for the food, I had to order their Hayachi Omurice and Chef Soichi's Chicken karage and both were BOMB! 11/10 each! Love the flavor of the rice and nice touch of thin slices of meat and the egg was perfectly made. I just wished there were heapings of those egg. The sauce was slightly tangy but love the flavor. The other star of my meal was the karage. Prolly the Top 2 karage I've had. I liked how they sliced in lengthwise and there not too much coating. And it wasn't oily and very juicy inside. Well seasoned and it came with lemon wedges and kewpie mayo. All I did was sprinkle some Nanami Togarashi for an added umami flavor. Overall, this should be on your top 10 restos in San Diego. Service was excellent, the servers were all friendly and always smiles!! Kudos to you guys!! I'll be back for sure!!
