Immersion is slinging out great coffee. The La Jolla location is convenient for beach goers and people like me who were in the area watching the surfers one morning. Their orange latte is proper and well made. It's not overly sweet and nicely balanced with espresso and milk (almond is my choice). The little Italy location is the one I regularly frequent but the proximity to the water makes this location even more attractive. Service was good, friendly, and they were swamped as usual.
This was my first time at Immersion Coffee and I had a great experience. I really appreciate that every drink is made to order instead of being pre batched. You can definitely tell the difference in the quality and freshness. The coffee itself was excellent, you can actually taste the flavor of the coffee instead of it being overpowered by milk or syrup. Great service, quality drinks, and attention to detail.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon Immersion Coffee while looking for a good matcha spot in La Jolla. I ordered the strawberry matcha and the black sesame latte. The strawberry matcha was good -- I'd rate it around a 7/10 (and I say that as a matcha lover). It had a nice flavor, but I've definitely had stronger matcha elsewhere. The black sesame latte was my favorite. You can really taste the sesame, which gave it a rich, nutty flavor that stood out compared to other lattes I've tried. Overall, I'm really happy I found this spot and would come back. Next time, I'd love to try more of their drinks -- especially to compare their sesame latte with others.
I really want to like this place but it was a let down. I actually found them out on TikTok and saw how aesthetically beautiful the place was and love that their menu offer minimalist options. The place is super small with maybe 4 tables and a set of chairs outside. They don't have pastries only cookies. I ordered a matcha latte with their house made vanilla bean syrup and my boyfriend ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk. I was surprised on how fast the drinks came out but not in a good way. Everything seems to be pre made and they just dump everything in the cup. Usually when we order matcha/ coffee in other places they make it right there. After we order our drinks we literally got it in 30 secs. I really like the aesthetic concept of the one big block of ice in the drink but it's not convenient when you put in your straw and try to mix. The taste was the biggest disappointment. I barely tasted any matcha it was literally 90% full of milk and I tasted no house made vanilla syrup (very faint taste). The coffee was not strong at all, it was so water down/milk down, no coffee taste. Total 14$ for 2 drinks overall the quality of the drinks were lacking

That was exactly my experience at Immersion Coffee. It was my first visit and although skeptical at first, my experience ended up being incredible. What stood out to me was my server's kindness. Yaz's kind heart, genuine enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service made me feel like a regular from the moment I walked in and truly made my day. The drinks and ambiance are fantastic, but it's people like Yaz who turn a good coffee shop into one you'll keep coming back to. Thank you for such a great first experience--I can't wait to be back!
Immersion Coffee in La Jolla is a great spot to enjoy a latte or matcha with a friend. Minimalistic and orderly, the intimate ambiance can be intimidating at first, but is quickly overwhelmed by the welcoming staff and tasty drinks. Some notes - - Free parking can be found on Nautilus Street, but only for an hour. We risked it and ended up fine. - Our lattes were on the sweeter side, just how I like it. The seasonal black sesame latte is worth getting if you're willing to spend $8 for a drink, but that's to be expected. They were out of stirrers, so we couldn't enjoy the drink to the fullest. - This small location can only accomodate small parties. Don't come here looking for a place to work/study if you require lots of desk space. This is more of a "read a book" type coffee shop. - The shop is located right next to a busy street, which is not ideal for outdoor seating. - The board on the wall had rotating coversation starters, which I thought was a creative touch that I had never seen before.
First time there today! Pretty cool coffee shop, modern and pleasant to the eyes. I like the open view to the baristas work. I am not into matcha but it was very pleasant watching them do their matcha preparations. Cute retro music decor and nice and comfortable furniture to sit outside as the inside is so tiny. It was very enjoyable having a coffee watching people, reading a book while having my capuccino that was pretty good. The coffee shop was packed but inside felt suffocating due to the small space. I wish they had more pastries options. I just saw a couple of items and were not too appetized for me. I will be back to this nice coffee shop when in the area.
Can never go wrong with a strawberry latte. The puree here tasted fresh and sweet, it was lovely and refreshing with the matcha. I had to ask for extra puree because I have a huge sweet tooth. I personally would have liked for the strawberry chocolate latte to be a bit sweeter but that might be a me problem. The coffee tasted a bit strange but overall it was a decent drink. I would love to try their sesame latte next time! There was a line when we got there. Our barista was nice, despite being very busy and having to serve many customers upon just opening. I wanted to try their cookies but they weren't ready in time. This place is located inside a cute food court with many other food options to choose from.
Immersion Coffee is located on a by-way between Bird Rock and downtown La Jolla. Parking will be parallel on the streets, but easy enough to find in the neighborhood. The coffee shop is mostly a gimmick. It's a wannabe listening bar with a belled and whistled audio setup, however, not only was music completely absent during my visit, but it makes no sense since the shop is open-aired and so cramped where no one will be wanting to stay long anyway. They also have those crazed matcha latte creations using that "ceremonial-grade" shizz. They have all the necessary gadgetry to craft great enough espresso, utilizing some random coffee roastery's beans. I DO praise their unique house syrup and drizzle offerings though, ingredients such as "orange compote", "chocolate ganache", and "strawberry puree" adding a touch of elegant depth and luxury. On that note, I actually rather enjoyed the *Orange Latte* (espresso, orange compote, and chocolate ganache) which was refreshing in the summer, somewhat decadent, and unique. A final note on an anomaly I experienced for the first time and only learned about later. Either the workers are very unhappy or I experienced what I would later learn is pointedly called the "Gen Z stare". Like girl seriously? Are you ready to take my order or are you broken!? Can I get a "hello"? It was completely awkward and for a coffee shop that doesn't have much going for it, this lack of customer service -- or, rather, normal human interaction -- really irked me. There are TOO many coffee shops in San Diego so I would really just skip this one.
[Taste: ] You can tell that the owner has a lot of experience in coffee & the process of making matcha. The sesame cookie was so delicious and the perfect cookie consistency. The matcha cream top had a balanced sweetness/so tasty without overpowering the taste of the matcha. My favorite matcha place in La Jolla by far. [Service: ] Good, you can also see the barista hand-whisking every single drink! Truly a personalized experience. [Comments: ] I really loved the interior design, they made the small space modern yet homey.
This is hands down my favorite coffee shop in San Diego for so many reasons. The cafe itself is tiny but absolutely stunning, and everything on the menu is truly impeccable. I'm a big matcha fan, and their strawberry matcha latte is easily one of the best I've ever had. The espresso cream with the sugar rim is unreal and might be one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. On top of that, the staff and baristas are amazing and always so friendly and welcoming. If you haven't tried Immersion Cafe yet, I truly can't recommend it enough.

Came here on a Saturday around 12 PM, and there wasn't a long line, which was nice especially on a hot day! The cafe itself is very small, simple, and cute. I ordered a few drinks for my friends and me to try since it was our first time here, and we were heading to the beach after. They hand-whisk their matcha for each drink, which I really appreciate because most matcha spots in San Diego pre-make theirs. I got the regular matcha latte. I assumed it would already be sweetened, but it wasn't, which wasn't a big deal for me since I prefer little to no sweetness. It was still really good: perfect consistency, and you can definitely taste the matcha. My cousin got the matcha cream top (similar to a matcha einspänner), and I loved their vanilla bean syrup(?) that was included in the drink. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess. My friends also tried the orange latte, and they were pleasantly surprised by the cream on top. The orange flavor was noticeable but still subtle, and the coffee itself was strong. The syrups balanced everything out nicely. Definitely would come back again! read more
this cafe serves up great specialty lattes -- love their roasted black sesame latte and matcha with cream on top! they were both on the sweeter side and I would've preferred less sweet, but the coffee/matcha flavors were still strong. the staff were extremely friendly and personable! there's only a few seating inside, would recommend taking out to the beach and soaking up the sun! read more

iced strawberry matcha w/ whole milk was overall ok, not the best I've had but also not the worst. Kinda milky and couldnt taste the matcha that much. Matcha cream on top tasted better. Otherwise is a very cute small coffee shop with very friendly service! Limited seating inside & outside. read more

Cuuuute little cafe with a lovely interior and a changing letter board with thoughtful questions/ statements. The drinks are actually so so stunning and I liked the matcha cream top one a lot. Quality of matcha could be a little better but overall still really really good! read more

I visited San Diego for the weekend and ran into this coffee shop. I got a strawberry matcha which was delicious. It is your basic strawberry puree on the bottom with whole milk and a cream top on top along with dried strawberry bits on top. I like how concentrated in flavor the matcha was. The service could have been better. They all looked unhappy and did not say hi :( They are very busy with the line out the door. My friends tried the cream top and matcha cream top which were also sweet and delicious. The hojicha and black sesame cookies were soft and chewy! Parking is difficult in SD, but thankfully this spot has a lot of residential parking available! read more
Came on Christmas Eve and was able to find parking easily around the block. When we got there it was very calm. The place is tiny and cozy with modern decor. We ordered the matcha cream top and roasted black sesame latte. Service was standard. Omg both were amazing and they use one large cube of ice for cold drinks. Similar to the ones they use in cocktails. Makes it fancy. The drinks were well balanced with sweetness. The espresso in the latte was bold & smooth. Will def be returning! read more

Went here during the weekdays around 2-3pm and thankfully there wasn't a long line! We tried two drinks with less sweetness and the coffee pulls through in both perfectly. Presentation was simple but makes my heart warm to receive drinks with an aesthetic as well Orange Latte 5/5 You can't go wrong with Orange and Coffee they just work! There is chocolate in this but am glad the drink was creamy, not too sweet and good balance of all flavors. I wish they put a Mont Blanc on the menu for some that may not want much of a mocha undertone. Roasted Black Sesame 5/5 Love the Sesame Latte, A wonderful blend of nutty, creamy and the bitter hint of the coffee! They put one big ice cube block in each drink, for this one specifically I think I might've wanted it more cold bc of more umami pulling thru. But that's just my opinion! All in all the staff was kind, the drinks were served quickly. Can't to go back again when we're in town! read more

Great drinks and just a walk away from Windandsea Beach! Highly recommend their Orange Latte (if you're in a coffee mood) and the Strawberry Matcha Latte (if you're in the matcha mood)! This is one of the few places with pretty decent matcha here in SD. I love that they hand whisk and that everything's brewed in-house. You can really tell that they put a lot of attention into every drink they serve up. The spot is beautiful!!! However, it's super small, so there isn't much space to lounge around. Luckily, it's within walking distance (~5 minutes) from Windandsea! You can get greats sips and some steps in. read more

I'm very picky with my coffee because I really love lattes with good espresso & I absolutely loooove the triple C latte from here!! It's so delicious , good balance of espresso, cream and sweetness. The line can get kind of long as it if a smaller place but I love the location. Would highly recommend read more
I stopped by for a Matcha latte from this small coffee shop for $6 for the iced version. I was disappointed on two fronts, first they do not take cash, and they do not carry natural honey or any honey for that matter, except for syrups. The iced matcha was smaller than most. I think it was only 12 ounces, not the typical 16 ounces for an iced version. The matcha was pretty good. They don't mix the matcha with the milk so you have to do it yourself. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The service was friendly enough. They offer locally acquired baked goods. Only street parking is available here. It's a small place, only offering a few tables inside, along the window, and outside. Get some organic honey! read more
Pretty decent matcha is SD! I visited on a Saturday morning around 10. No line, lots of street parking. Very small shop, I don't recommend doing work here. Cute decor. "Dog-friendly" outdoor area since there's not much seating but people were standing with their dogs. Service was okay. We ordered the regular matcha latte, strawberry matcha latte, and matcha with cream. Matcha is well balanced with the milk, not too sweet. Wish it was stronger. I'd visit again if I'm ever in the area! read more

Walking distance from the beach and my friend's house/bahay/casa, Immersion Coffee sent great coffee vibes on both morning visits this weekend. This locally owned coffee shop is tiny: 11 seats inside and 3 seats outside if I remember correctly. The line goes out the door after about 6 customers in line. What they lack in seating space, they make up in good coffee and pastries. The staff is meticulous with each cup they put together. It's evident once you take that first sip. Espresso Cream - Espresso shot with cream and sugar to get the day moving. Orange Latte - Iced Orange Latte with orangey vibes but not too sweet. Matcha Latte - Not too sweet, matcha balance was great. Raspberry cream Danish - Delish. I ordered it on both visits The location is fantastic, and the offerings are great. I'll swing by again next time I'm in La Jolla! Cheers! read more
Immersion Coffee is located in La Jolla's Beach Barber Tract. It's across the street from a local market where I parked my vehicle because there wasn't an on-site lot, and open curbside spaces were nowhere to be found. The suite was very narrow to the point I felt claustrophobic because there was little distance between the service counter and the small round tables across from it. You had to stand outside to wait for your order because of the limited space. A canopy with three chairs underneath was set up on the sidewalk for outdoor seating. Two menu sheets were displayed at the counter featuring espresso and classics on the left and specials and matcha base on the right. A small selection of baked goods was also available for purchase. Not being a coffee drinker, I bought a Strawberry Matcha for my beverage with regular whole milk as the base. Two large ice cubes, strawberry puree, and cream were added to the mixture. I noticed the cup was placed on a scale and then the barista carefully measured a specific weight of matcha powder to be stirred into the liquid. For $7.50, I thought the serving size was inadequate as I paid 20% less for the same volume of matcha drink at a different local coffee shop. The puree added fruity sweetness which I appreciated, but the amount of ice also didn't justify the price. I can't imagine waiting in a long line at Immersion Coffee because the layout was sub-optimal which was another deduction from my rating of this business. read more

This is a popular new spot in San Diego for good reason! The space is very small but charming, and their drinks are pretty unique and absolutely delicious. Favorite one I tried was the strawberry latte- tastes like Korean strawberry milk and was the perfect balance of sweetness and strawberry flavor and espresso. The orange chocolate latte was also good but slightly lacking a chocolate flavor since the orange was so prominent. Their cookies looked crazy good too and I need to make another San Diego visit to try them out- white chocolate matcha cookie say less. read more
Immersion Coffee shop opened 2 weeks ago in La Jolla and once again, there was a crowd of curious coffee connoisseurs in line, myself included... Got lucky with finding a parking spot a block away, but parking is a challenge. For such a small space, there were some seating inside but limited as it is outside. The line seemed to move quicker than expected but still slower than I prefer. Behind the counter was a shelf with two high speakers and nearby was a turntable yet no music??? The staff were helpful but seemed not too thrilled to be there...not friendly, not nice, with the exception of the staffer who was wearing gloves as she wiped down tables and resupplied the napkins and straws, she was nice and smart to be wearing gloves. The menu no food, ONLY offers drinks of coffee and tea. I ordered a few drinks: the orange latte, strawberry matcha and the shaken espresso. Of these three drinks, the orange latte was the best, followed by the shaken espresso and last the strawberries matcha which was too overly sweet. Was NOT happy with NO option for non dairy: almond, coconut, oat and/or soy for milk options. While the drinks tasted good, the rich dairy cream they use did not agree with me and my friend. Perhaps the temperature grade to keep the creamer was not set to standards..? Regardless of how creative and tasty these drinks were, because they made me SICK, I can only rate it a 1 star! If can endure standing in line for coffee or tea and you're not sensitive to dairy, perhaps a visit to this shop to try drinks and Immerse yourself at Immersion Coffee. read more

This is a cute small shop that's accessible from the street while you walk around the area. The coffee they're using is phenomenal, it's got a unique flavor to it. We got a matcha and a mocha, both came with a cream top. The flavors were good and service was great! read more
Had to try this spot to see what the hype was about. Would recommend street parking. The inside is quite small with only a couple of tables. The service was really friendly and knowledgeable. Got the tea infused cold brew. They had me add a little guava syrup and it definitely gave it a pop. Would definitely come back. read more
Very cute new new cafe in La Jolla - loveddddd the vibes, ambience and the super friendly welcome there. The strawberry matcha was good but have also tasted much better versions of it elsewhere in SD. However I'm gonna try again at their LI location and see if this version tops it all :) Really wanted to try the iced orange chocolate latte (Decaf version), but they do not still offer decaf options right now. Looking forward to more such charming cafes to open in SD !! read more
great vibe & great coffee! it's a small little place but loved the mid century modern cozy aesthetic. i ordered the black sesame latte having never seen anything similar on a coffee menu before and it was absolutely delicious. i really appreciated the creativity of their selection and definitely want to go back! read more

Yummmmm ! Line went out the door, but the line went down fast! If you're looking for authentic, ceremonial, earthy tasting matcha, this is your place! Strawberry puree at the bottom did not taste artificial. Matcha is not sweetened with anything, just how I like it! I got it with oat milk, and the matcha flavor was still strong! read more
