Our tempera and crab rangoons were soaked in oil and the oil tasted like it was old. We had to soak up the oil from the plate because you could see it dripping from the rangoon. The shrimp tempera was heavily breaded and super oily as well. I understand fried food is going to have a certain level of oil, but this didn't seem appetizing at all. Our Nigiri pieces came out and our fish was warm. Honestly, we mentioned something to our waiter and the response was that the rice was recently made so it was warm. That made us a bit skeptical. Overall our experience was not the best. The sushi was uneventful and didn't taste fresh. I was pretty disappointed and I rarely write a negative review. Jin's - honestly I hope you do better moving forward. This was a bummer.

However, one consideration for the future is for the chefs to ask or explain before tossing the zucchini pieces or spraying water. I understand that's part of the fun for most guests, but we were with someone from another country and she was very startled and didn't understand what was going on. As a result, she got a few pieces of zucchini on her cute outfit and she was bummed about it. The food was good and I appreciated the cute decorations in the restaurant. Our group did agree our entrees could have had less soy sauce as it was a little salty.

Huge chunks of calamari, shrimp, crab. The pad Thai was only ok. It was too peanutty for me, but my wife and kids also were generally meh about it too. The Phuket #3 was also great. I ordered it first and my wife liked it so much (after drinking most of mine) ordered another. We were peeved but decided we should just enjoy our dinner. BUT as we were finishing up, about 5 couples came in WITHOUT a reservation and both the host and the bartender gave each couple the option to either sit at the bar or at a table. When I confronted the bartender about it, she claimed "they weren't supposed to do that." WHAT?! She literally just offered a couple a table without a reservation. What do you mean?! It was insulting. Anyway, we will absolutely NEVER come back here. The tip we left was solely for the kitchen staff who were hard at work and doing an honest job. Bartender and hosts are discriminatory and awful. Do NOT recommend if you are looking to be treated with respect. Would give zero stars if that were an option.

I've been to Kyoto on numerous times to take advantage of the "all you can eat" sushi on Sundays (through Tuesday I believe) and a lot of those occasions have been with good friends and family. On all of these occasion the sushi was great as always and I have no complaints about the food which I consider to be one of the best Sushi place in the Milwaukee Area. If the ratings were based solely on the food, then I'd give this place a 5 stars with no questions asked but my problem was with the service. The problem I had was that the service was good at the beginning of our time there but the more we ate, the more the waiter/waitress got an attitude and the longer it took for our food to get out. It's not that they're swamped with orders either because at times, there are probably only 3 or so occupied tables in the restaurant. And I'm talking about maybe on our 3rd round that we received this treatment. It's not like we've been there for hours and refused to leave even when stuffed. We're still, in my opinion, within our rights to order more as paying customers considering it is an "all you can eat" special. I am by no means a difficult customer, as a matter of fact, during a couple of these experiences the order was "accidentally" swapped somehow and we ended up with a cheaper roll (That is if it was ordered off the regular menu) and we didn't complain because it took too long for the wrong roll to come out. It would take even longer for the order to be placed again and our food prepared. Though not all of our waiters were like this, there are some that maintained their high level of professionalism during all interactions with us and got our food to us accurately and in a timely manner. Too bad this can't be said about all the waiters there. I'll still personally dine at this restaurant and I'd just like to post this as a sort of warning to those looking to try this place out. Nothing wrong with the food, just the service at times can be a little rude and unwelcoming especially to those of us that are paying their bills. I had never been here in the 10 years I have lived in milwaukee and because I had been waiting 3 hours at the car place across the street and was hungry, decided to give it a try. I walked in and it was a much nicer establishment than I had expected. I knew their big thing was sushi so I expected something smaller and more... modern. But it's rather quaint and traditional looking and plays classical music. I was taken to a table immediately. I have to say, I was very disappointed they didn't have bubble tea. It's on the menu, it's only a thursday afternoon before the weekend yet they were out. Just kinda a crap shoot, you know? Especially when they advertise and praise it so highly on their menu. I ordered the appetizer portion of the chicken and vegetable tempura. I felt there were fewer veggies than there should have been, but omg you get a whole piece of chicken katsu! If you love sushi, this is the best deal in southeastern Wisconsin. My recent visit to Kyoto was the best sushi experience. Sunday through Tuesday for $23.95 they have all you can eat sushi and appetizers. I started out with the fried shrimp tempura and oh was that good! They give you a chart of about 20 different kinds of sushi, single cuts or rolls, fresh raw fish and cooked sushi options as well. I had the spider roll and the dragon roll. I had two other delicious rolls but forgot what they were called. The dragon and spider stood out amongst the best. Since it was all you can eat, I had about 4 or 5 rolls. That's a lot of sushi. And the choices I selected, if it wasn't AYCE, would've cost around $50-60. I more than got my money's worth. I love this place and can't wait to return. The waiter answered all of my sushi questions and was very polite and gave me some great recommendations (dragon roll) mmmm! Called ahead and the person on the phone was rude. When I arrived 20 minutes later it was not ready for another 40 minutes. When I approched the served he was upset that I was asking. The order came 5 minutes later. ONE HOUR AND 5 MINUTES FOR 4 ROLLS!. I then asked for extra ginger. With the number of entrees we had, apparently we only get 3 soups and salads. There were four of us. So there are some Japanese places that will usually just give you a soup/salad so no one feels left out when something like this happens, but they were very by the rules. We ordered another entree later during the meal, and they brought out the soup and salad for that entree. Server was friendly and on point. Atmosphere is nice and it wasn't very busy on a Friday lunch time.

They do not take reservations so definitely go early! The restaurant is small, but gives a comfy cozy vibe with the dark atmosphere.
