I had really high hopes that this place improved since our last visit, but unfortunately it's about the same. It's not horrible, but it's also tough to justify the cost. The food is not nearly as good as the famous Teppanyaki restaurant most people think about. The salad dressing is not very good, the soup was too salty, and the sauces were mediocre. The protein is almost as good, as is the fried rice. The chefs phoned it in a little bit, but the wait staff was very nice and attentive. We also got seated quickly. I just wish they did something different to justify the pricing when comparing against the famous Teppanyaki place, which they don't. read more

First time trying out Fuji Steakhouse and was thoroughly entertained with the chef and presentation. I came here with a friend and was a little worried seating without reservations would be tough. To our surprise, we were immediately seated. The place was almost empty, which is surprising for a Friday night. Their menu had an extensive list of options for teppan yaki, sushi, and cocktails. We both ordered a couple of bottles of Rihaku Dreamy Clouds sake and filet mignon and shrimp teppanyaki. Our teppanyaki came with salad, soup, rice, vegetables, and 2 piece prawn appetizer. The main attraction was the theatric presentation put on by our chef. There were towering flames, food being tossed up in the air, and even an opportunity to try to catch food using only our mouths. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and rice and vegetables nicely seasoned. There's a sauce that came with the steak and it was addicting. The meal ended with a brief pyro show where the chef set the whole flat grill on fire. This is a good option if you would like entertainment while watching your food being prepared. The Fuji Steakhouse in Redmond is ALWAYS a fun time with GREAT customer service and such a fun ambience. We choose to bring our whole company there for a Christmas party every year and we can not say enough good things about the staff and how accommodating they are. We bring in about 35 people and they cook for all of us so quickly, refill our beverages immediately, and are so comical! This is an amazing place if you want to have a big group or even a double date - the chefs are usually hilarious and the food is delicious. As a self-proclaimed Teppanyaki connoisseur, I can confidently say this place fires on all cylinders, literally. Our chef wasn't just a chef. He was an entertainer and magician! Every toss, flip, and flame kept me intrigued. If interested, the chef will toss a piece of zucchini at you to see if you can catch it in your mouth. After three tries I finally got one! The service was outstanding, and the food was perfectly prepared with great flavor. We got the Filet and Shrimp combo which came with soup, salad and rice. This was my first ever experience eating teppanyaki and it was delicious and so entertaining. We came here for my fiancés birthday and they went above and beyond to celebrate him. They sang him happy birthday twice - once during the cooking of dinner and the second time afterwards with free ice cream. They brought out several staff members banging a drum to sing him happy birthday with his ice cream. They even had him stand up and dance to it. My fiancé loved this! I will say though, I HATE attention in public like this so for me, this would've been too much attention for my birthday for my liking but if you like above and beyond, this is the place for you! The food was really delicious. I ordered the new york steak and chicken teppanyaki and that comes with a salad, soup, rice, mixed veg and two dipping sauces. I upgraded to get the fried rice instead of the white rice that it comes with and it was only $5 more. I also ordered the El Diablo sushi roll which was really tasty and not fishy at all. We initially thought of going to Musashi's a couple blocks away, but it was closed until dinnertime, so despite the higher pricing, Fuji became our only option for sushi at Redmond Town Center. I've always been curious about this place, so we figured, why not? At around 12:30P, only a few tables were occupied and one of them had the full teppanyaki show going. The host came over immediately and took our order. He said it would be about a 10-15 minute wait, which turned out to be spot on. Although this restaurant is known for teppanyaki, they do have a large menu of sushi options and specialty rolls. + CATERPILLAR ROLL ($18): Eel, crab & cucumber inside with thinly sliced avocado and unagi sauce on top. The avocado was perfect and I was glad to see it had more eel meat than fatty skin. Unfortunately there were so many bones in the eel! I know that the bones are edible, but I could feel them scratching my mouth and throat. While tasty, this wasn't super pleasant to eat. + LION KING ROLL ($18): Crab, cucumber and avocado inside, topped with seared salmon and spicy mayo. For the most part, I enjoyed this roll, although the salmon was barely seared. It was delicious and silky though, and I'd rather have it seared less than be overcooked. I didn't really care for the spicy mayo on top since it was on the sweeter side, but luckily the roll was not drenched in the sauce. + VEGETABLE TEMPURA ($12): This was a good medley of green beans, zucchini, onion, kabocha squash and carrot. They were super crispy and tasted even better with a dip in the tempura sauce. The onion rings were my favorite. Between the two of us, this was a nice light lunch. We started off with cocktails. I got the Mojito, which was pretty good, but seemed to be mostly ice. He got a Moscow Mule, and he liked it. For our teppanyaki dinner, I got the filet mignon and lobster and he got the filet mignon and shrimp. I thought we were going to need to order more food after, like maybe sushi, but our dinner actually filled us up. Food was good and cooked well. Service, including our cook, were very friendly. Quality and portion size have been decreasing every year for the last 4 years. The hibachi/teppanyaki has been going downhill. The grill masters are putting less and less effort it seems. Could also be we got a bad one as the "show" was good at the next grill over from us. The other chefs had few tricks/skills. Ours tried the volcano that was only 2 inches high and let the whole grill on fire except the volcano. I ordered extra vegetables but I guess for $10 that translated to an extra button mushroom and a spear or zucchini. The grilled rice used to be plentiful and full of stuff. Now it is about a cup or cup and a half with maybe a baby carrot and half an egg. Go with at least 2 people or you might not get the fried egg. You get 7 oz of steak for the strip but at least an oz is a piece of fat the chef cuts off and tossed in the trash. Seriously, most of the fat was clearly taken off the meat but an oz that goes straight into the trash. The soup is broth and the salad has some kind of cheap jar dressing. The bar is the bright spot in a place that clearly has stopped caring about the food and show. read more

When you're a large group, there are limited restaurant options. We decided to come here since we remembered it was a spacious restaurant and was rarely busy from our last visit. The show was great (as usual) and the food was okay (a lot of oil and salt, which is expected). However, the share fee ($15) left a bad taste in my mouth since one person in our party has stomach cancer (physically can't eat much but wanted to join in) and they wouldn't make an exception. It was NOT mentioned on their website or their online menu. We would have never came if it was stated. Because of this, I ordered a "side" of filet mignon for $32 since it was a la carte and I couldn't eat many of the "dinner" accompaniments. No issue but then 5 minutes later, the server returns and says the manager won't allow them to cook any of our food via hibachi in front of us unless we order a full "dinner". They really celebrate special occasions but prepare to get wet and to dance - specifically booty shaking. A guy comes out with a drum and suddenly the sake is talking and you're shaking your butt and dancing for your table (and the restaurant at large). It was a blast. Food was good. I got the filet mignon and shrimp with fried rice, because why not. I believe if someone in your group orders shrimp and you just get the steak, you'll get a couple shrimp anyway if you want it... or that's what I've seen so far at Teppenyaki restaurants. Salad dressing for the side salad was good - a creamy/zesty Japanese-style dressing that was all love and expect. The soup was like a beef, mushroom broth which was okay. There are electric stairs that get you right at their entrance. It is kind of dark. Just a couple of other parties. It is very nice yo get to see how they cook your food, show, and receive it hot. We ordered a teppanyaki. If each person doesn't order one, you will be charged $15. I ordered two makis instead. Plenty of food for 2 people :) Tge teppankayi will be served with salad and soup for that person. We found this fair because of the chef, show, and experience. Staff let us know all clearly and upfront. Even asking for garlic would cost $8 more. Chef was great! Entertained our kiddo. It was great. What I would give as feedback is they should be more around so we can order more drinks or dessert. We knew they lose at 2pm and they would reopen later on, but I think dessert investment would have been a good option. read more

I visited Fuji Steak House specifically for their sushi bar, so this review is not based on the teppanyaki experience. I went in really excited to have a new restaurant in Redmond Town Center but left disappointed. I ordered the tuna poki appetizer for $14, and the portion size was super small (see my photos). The tuna was also covered with a sweet sauce that I didn't think added much value to the dish. For my entrée, I went with the small sashimi combo for $22. These were the smallest cuts of fish, so I was not satisfied at all after eating this $22 entrée. They were able to make me a custom hand roll on top of this because I was still not full from my food. My friend ordered the Mariners and volcano rolls, which she liked, but also found to be pricey for what you got. There wasn't anything super special about them. I may visit again for the teppanyaki in the future at some point, but I can't justify going back here for sushi when there are many great sushi places in the area at much more reasonable price points. read more
