In long There are a dozen places around here that outdo Joa in at least one or two ways. But these folks delivered us a nice hot meal for a fairly reasonable price. Spicy chicken Big chunks of white meat, not dried out at all. Heavy sauce, not too sweet. Definitely mild heat. The steamed veg were pretty good, still a tiny bit of crunch to them. It's cool you can order with all rice, all veg, or a mix. Combo box Short ribs had good flavor. The chicken karaage was mushy and under-seasoned. Fried rice was a nice upgrade, and not bad, but definitely not housemade. The usual iceberg salad mix was the usual iceberg salad mix. Just save your money. It doesn't matter what deals they have on DoorDash or how cheap there are to get from directly. It's not worth it. The chicken was cooked to smitharines and was like chewing on sand paper. The spicy chicken was the same and then it had a terrible spicy flavor. We ordered to go using Uber Eats. This place did not disappoint. Even after getting it delivered everything was super fresh and cooked to perfection. The chicken fried rice and the chicken yakisoba were the best we have ever had anywhere and we have lived in a lot of different states. The spicy chicken was so good and was actually spicy, and the sweet and sour pork was so good. The orange chicken and sesame chicken were just okay, but everything else was so amazing we will always come here from now on! ORDERED ONLINE We paid over $80 for an inedible dinner. Teriyaki chicken was dry and stringy. I ordered a honeydew Boba tea and it did not even have Boba in it. Then I find out that flavor and Boba are extra charges. So basically I got honeydew flavored milk. Boba tea base price is damn near $8. Side of steam veggies was just cabbage. I don't usually leave reviews but the owner was using a table in the dining room as her desk and made multiple very loud speaker phone calls while I dined in. I was the only one dining in. Then she proceeded to ask the other employees if the till had been counted and proceeds to do that out loud. The teriyaki bowl was good but maybe I'll pick up if I come back. We got four special rolls, all of which were fun and pretty well balanced, two California rolls, and a sashimi deluxe combo. The sashimi was fresh, sliced thickly with a melt in your mouth texture. Pretty decent food at reasonable prices! I came across an offer on UberEats and decided to pick up dinner from here on my way home. As I am a sucker for chicken fried rice and the portions on the picture looked smaller, I decided to order a little extra. Boy, was I wrong! When I arrived, waiting for me was a massive stack of food! The portions are actually VERY generous, so definitely take that into account when ordering. The rice itself was pretty soft and a little salty, and the chicken pieces were just a little tough on the outside while soft inside. I did feel that it could've been a bit more flavorful as it actually derived a lot of its flavor from the large amount of oil instead of various spices/sauces, but it was still decent enough. We ordered through UberEats and this was our first experience with JOA, so I can't really speak to ambiance or service, but the order was prepared promptly for pickup and delivery by Uber. We ordered Veggie Fried Rice, a bogo deal for Teriyaki Chicken and General Tso's Chicken, an extra side of white rice, and an order of Egg Rolls (not pictured). The fried rice had an alright/average taste and texture, but there was very low veggie/egg to rice ratio; the general chicken was dry with almost no sauce; the teriyaki chicken was a bit over cooked; the egg rolls were limp/ undercooked, and, as I found after a bite, are not vegetarian and do contain a white meat. I don't eat meat and have only ever had the veggie fried rice and cream cheese Rangoon's, they have been fine. My biggest complaint is that we ordered delivery from them and they sent crab rangoons instead. I immediately spit it out and was disgusted. If I was allergic they could have done a lot of damage. We called in an order for pick up of two chicken and pork, one with fried rice and it was $45! Then, the portions I received were VERY upsetting for that price. The fried rice was a joke with only a total of like 8 pieces of carrots/peas and the amount of rice in general was absurd. The pork was so heavy in fat it was just about inedible. They didn't not trim it at all it seems. Both the chicken and pork had a bit too much chard bits and also were swimming in pool of "sauce" in the bottom of the container which was unappetizing. Lots of teriyaki options in the area and this one is one of the more reliable and delicious options. I really wanted to like this place since my first visit was good. I ordered again today. I received BURNT chicken Katsu and had a METAL BRISTLE from a cleaning brush in my chicken yakisoba. This is my go-to Japanese place in Everett. I live in the Seattle area and visit my parents who live in Everett. This is where we usually order take outs. Not only they have big portion (each entree is for 2 people), the food are also pretty solid and really delicious! It's also great that this is a family-owned/local business. The restaurants have a wide range of Japanese-American dishes in their menu. But my favorites are their Chicken Katsu Curry and Orange chicken. Price wasn't too bad. I ordered from door dash. Food came in the time it was supposed to. I got it and the chicken was burnt and dry. There was a lot of sauce so it was a little saving grace. Then we get to the rice. The rice tasted days old and way under cooked. I got a toothache from the crunching of my rice. I also got a Thai tea with crystal boba. The Thai tea was fairly pleasant. But the boba was awful. It tasted like a bunch of it was mixed together. I had some crystal, lychee and a bunch of popping boba. I couldn't drink it. Overall I wish there was a way to get a refund.
