Amazing chicken teriyaki! Fast service and a clean place. Perfect to eat at or take home.

I've been coming to Kings for about 20 years. They've been my favorite because of the tenderness of their meat and especially the thick teriyaki sauce they spread atop the meat. Yesterday was different. I'm not sure if there was a recent change of ownership - but the pork was tough. The chicken was dry and they didn't put any of the thick teriyaki sauce on top. I visited King's Teriyaki yesterday and overall, it was a solid experience with a lot to like! It's Korean-style teriyaki, which is great because my husband prefers Korean-style flavors -- and this place delivered well on that. The Good: The chicken was tender, and the rice was perfectly cooked -- fresh and soft, not the kind that's been sitting too long in a rice cooker. The gyoza was nicely fried and flavorful, though I do wish it were just a bit crispier. The sauce was excellent -- bold and balanced, just like what you'd expect from top teriyaki spots in Seattle or like Oishi Teriyaki in Everett. A huge plus: the restroom was super clean, which always gives me confidence about the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and food prep. The ambience is nice, well-lit, and the tables are well-maintained. Also, customer service was fantastic -- friendly staff and quick food turnaround. The Not-So-Good: For the price, the portion of chicken was smaller than expected -- both in size and quantity. Compared to other teriyaki joints, I would've loved to see the chicken a bit more charred for that smoky, "yum yum" edge. The gyoza could be a tad bigger too, especially when compared to places like Oishi. It felt a bit pricey considering the portion sizes. That said, King's still has an edge over the other teriyaki place nearby, which doesn't have quite the same kitchen quality or consistency. With a few tweaks -- like bumping up the portions and adding more char to the chicken -- this place could easily be a 5-star regular for me. Bottom line: Great service, tasty sauce, clean and fresh -- just hoping they step it up a bit with portions and grill technique. The customer service at the front counter was horrible and frankly did not meet customer service expectations. When you ask for extra sauce packets they are very short tempered with you and find it difficult to accommodate your requests. If you want to spend your money on good customer service please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else that will treat you properly. I use to actually like this place and would visit often but not anymore. If I could give this place zero stars, I totally would. Will not be coming here again! read more

The rudest front counter staff ever. If you are going to be in the customer service business. Don't have a really rude gramma at the counter. One who does not speak enough English to take a simple order. Give her a google phone translation app. Tell her to smile and ask the customer to help her. Make it a happy thing. Most locals are happy to help. We ordered General Tso Chicken. It had a low quality sweat sauce added to a mini size small cut chicken chunks. Plus a really small rice portion.Chicken pieces where almond size.Made for the owner to make more money. Not for the customer to enjoy. A total $14.99 rip off. The Chicken Katsu was OKAY. However, they used old oil and the crust was dark and lacked the classic juicy chicken inside and a crispy crust outside we get at other Japanese restaurants. Price? $14.99. The food was alright before, the previous owners must have sold the business because this was a huge change in taste and quality! After it was prepared by the chef and brought to the register, the cashier gal TOOK IT UPON HERSELF TO ADD EVEN MORE SPICY TERIYAKI SAUCE - WITHOUT ASKING US IF WE WANTED EXTRA. Typically a customer would taste the spice level, then add more at their own discretion. The chicken now had huge globs of sauce all over it - you could not taste the chicken or rice AT ALL. If I wanted to drink a bottle of spicy teriyaki sauce, I would go to the grocery store and buy a bottle of spicy teriyaki sauce. This was our first visit here - One and DONE. It was inedible. This place was a staple for every Boeing worker I know. But since the former owners are gone the food is not as good. First off Spicy Chicken was my jam, and I loved the little salad with yummy dressing. No more salad, just an extra scoop of rice! Major turn off. BRING THE SALAD BACK! Prices way up from what was reasonable for subpar food, uh uh will not order from them again. Chicken does not have that charred taste and WTH are the sesame seeds? It's the little things that make a great dish. Kings was the best now they can give it a rest. Happy Tummy is the go to now. They are good and give a little salad with entree. TLDR; quick and easy meal, really fills you up. Come during the weekday for lunch to snag a lunch deal. We needed something quick to eat before the tour at Boeing and this little shop caught our eye. I've heard that teriyaki is kind of a big thing in Seattle so we decided to try it out. Luckily, it was a weekday during lunch so we were able to order a lunch deal. You order first and then find a table to eat at. The cashier was nice enough to ask a single diner to move to a smaller table so we could all have a seat. Food came out really quick! That's what I was worried about the most because we had to be at Boeing for our tour but I guess they're constantly making teriyaki chicken? The sauce is a lot and it can get salty but just eat some rice with every bite and it just balances out perfectly. The chicken wasn't dry...I think every piece on my plate was juicy. The prices were good for what you get and they were quick. The actual teriyaki flavor was different than what I am used to. My boyfriend got the chicken teriyaki and kung pao chicken teriyaki and his only complaint was that he felt like they skimped on the amount of chicken. TL:DR - Close to museum. Delicious good sized food. This seemed to be the only restaurant in the area around the "Future of Flight Aviation" museum. It's one block from the museum. The restaurant itself is small but there's a lot to choose from the menu. There is a daily special and a lunch special on the far right. The wait was a little longer because they said one chef didn't show up. The large meal size was perfect. The teriyaki pork was very tasty and flavorful and the amount of rice and salad was perfect. We absolutely loved the dinner! Ordered take-out and ate waiting for the ferry. The food was HOT and the ingredients were fresh and the portions generous. Best Mongolian beef I have ever had. King's Teriyaki has been in business since 1983. My grandparents who worked at Boeing and mom who grew up in the area has been going here since they've opened. I'll be the first to say, Teriyaki is not my first meal of choice, solely from the fact I've had teriyaki from several different locations all over the PNW. To me, most places are too one way or the other with the sauce, too much sodium, etc.. However, that is NOT the case here!! If I am in the area, you best believe I will stop in here for their food! OH MY GOSH. THIS PLACE IS SO BOMB. Everything is home made. The lady is the absolute sweetest. She's here all on her own, family owned, and she definitely takes pride in her work. It's like mom's cooking! Every time I come in, mostly to take advantage of their STEAL of a lunch special, I am greeted with a friendly smile and hello at the front counter. The lunch special ATM is $6.19. The lunch special chicken teriyaki is an appropriate portion size for the price listed above. If you want larger portions, buy the larger size, which is also appropriately priced. The Gyoza and other plates are worth exploring as well! Lunch Special goes until 2:00pm. You best make sure to make it in between the Boeing lunches! It gets crazy busy with the employee foot traffic across the street! Came here on a recommendation from an employee at the Boeing Future of Flight. Much appreciated! The regular cafe at the Boeing center was closed--just vending machines. So, this recommendation for lunch was much appreciated! Nothing fancy, but great prices and hot, fresh and delicious food! After visiting the Boeing Everett factory on a rainy cold evening, was terribly hungry & was craving for some comfort food. Right across the road was King's Teriyaki. We ordered a bowl of vegetarian noodle soup, couple of vegetarian fried rice & some chicken dishes. The soup was very comforting, complimenting the weather outside. The vegetarian Fried Rice was just too perfect, a little more sticky unlike regular fried rice. It was hot, spicy & just what we needed. I've been coming to King's Teriyaki for nearly 20 years. They've been in business since 1983. First started coming here in middle school in the mid-to-late '90s and every time I come back to town, this is one of my top stops. First, I've had teriyaki from hundreds of places, in a number of various locations. This is the best teriyaki I've ever had. The teriyaki sauce is great. Some places have some really salty sauces. Not the case here. The chicken quality is great. Never have fatty pieces, always cooked very well. The rice is never dry, and the salad dressing is awesome too. Second, the location and service. For those that have complained of this place being too busy, I'm here to state the obvious. It's the prime spot for Boeing employees to grab some lunch. So, if you're going at lunch, just expect there could be a number of people there. The service is great. I've been treated the same since day one as I do twenty years later. Friendly, genuinely happy to see me and others every time we come in. Also, if you come in, do the right thing and don't leave a mess of plates, napkins, and other things for the staff to clean up, because those that do just fuel the narrative that there isn't somewhere to sit, or that tables are messy. Third, for those complaining about prices or portions, that's blasphemy. The lunch special at the time of this writing is $6.19, which goes until 2:00. I haven't seen teriyaki under $7 at the minimum, anywhere. The lunch special chicken teriyaki is an appropriate portion size for the price listed above. The salad is slaw-style and the dressing was yum. Both the chicken and beef we're very good and fresh. Sauce was on the verge of being too strong but still yummy. From talking to folks who work nearby (Boeing), this place seems like the default choice for teriyaki lunch but without any good reason. From few times I've been, the food is so so, the portion is small, menu makes you think "hmm, can't quite point out what's missing." What's worse, the service can be incredibly slow especially during peak lunch hours, with the old lady that runs the counter oblivious to your frustration. I got the lunch special of teriyaki chicken and gyoza. The food was super good but the portions were tiny for $14! If the portion of teriyaki and rice was more it would definitely be worth it.
