There are a few businesses in the pearlridge uptown food court. They have subway, a cheesesteak place, a Filipino plate lunch place and a couple others. TBH, I usually walk by this place without a second glance, but I needed something fast and this hibachi style of mixed veg and rice or noodles appealed to me for some reason. The cashier was nice. I ordered beef with rice, but in hindsight I think I should have ordered it with noodles. Next time I'll get it with noodles. It's the same price! Most plates are like $17. You can choose the protein (chicken, beef, shrimp or a combo of 2) and then the cashier asks which vegetables you want. You can choose up to 5 vegetables. There are two different kinds of mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, carrot, broccoli, cabbage and bean sprouts. They have cheaper options too but they don't come with your choice of veggies and I like that part of the experience here. The next step is that they take the bowl of chosen veggies and cook it on a flat top with sauce and your choice of protein. It's super fast and the employees work well together to get orders out quickly. I like that everything is made in front of you. Like they can't hide anything that goes into your food and even though it's pretty simple (I can make this at home), it tastes better when you watch someone else make it for you. The resulting plate of steaming hot saucy beef with vegetables on rice was exactly what I wanted. It isn't the most fancy food I've ever had or like best tasting food I've ever had, but it's fresh and simple and I liked it. I can see how this place isn't the most swanky or like popular place in the food court. It's a little older and run down. Even the concept is maybe a little outdated. I hope they last because I'd rather get food from here instead of some other options. I hope it's not just me. read more

After a busy day at the small we decided to eat at Kyoto since it was one of our go to's back in the day. We decided to order the beef with egg ($12.94) and the shrimp and chicken yakisoba ($13.99). You get to choose 5 vegetables when you order the yakisoba. We went with mushrooms, onions, cabbage, carrots. It's nice to watch them cook your meal in front of you. It is pretty fast and before you know it, it'll be ready. The beef and egg was so good! There was an even amount of beef and rice and the sauce complemented the rice so well. The noodles were satisfying and they served a lot more than before. Service was good and staff are quick to get your order and start cooking. Thumbs up to the chefs in the front as well! read more

I came here this past week with my cousin for a quick lunch and honestly it wasn't as good as I remembered it being. The cashier was super nice when she took my order and food was prepared quickly but they didn't use as much veggies as before. I remember the last time I ordered from here, our plates were kind of overflowing with the amount of veggies and noodles they used but this time not so much. Also the flavor of the food wasn't as good as before. The price did go up quite a bit as well, which is totally understandable however they shouldn't be upping the price and giving less food. I will say that the food still seemed very fresh so at least the quality of the products are still good. Shiitake mushrooms was a bit chewy so I would opt out the next time. May come back to give them another chance but was a little disappointed by this visit. read more

The food court seating is limited overall and worse during peak meal times, especially during these Covid19 restrictions. The menu Has a vide variety of stir fry meat and vegetables. You pick your protein, choose 5 veggies to toss into a stir fry and they get cooked right in front of you. Made to order. It's served with a teriyaki sauce over a bed of white rice. Prices are great for what you get and the amount. They have plates, bowls, fried or cold noodles and soups. One of my past favorites is the chicken with egg (oyaku). Flavorful and filling. When you factor in convenience, value and quality, it's one of my favorite take out places in the mall. read more

First discovered this place over a decade ago when I used to work at the mall, once upon a time... I can't believe I haven't written a review til now! Our boss used to always grab lunch for everyone, and if you didn't know what you wanted you would always get an Oyako. That's what it was called then, now it's just chicken with egg. An egg is scrambled with mushrooms and cooked with chopped chicken marinated in some kind of teriyaki sauce. That mixture is served over hot rice in a bowl. Simple and yummy. When the kids and I are on the go, I'll buy them a couple musubis and a canned drink. When I'm feeling like eating light, I'll order shrimp with vegetable stir fry. And when I'm in the mood for fried noodles, they can fry that up with anything too. The prices are actually good for the quality and quantity you get here. Even though the prices have gone up, it hasn't changed drastically. The employees are alright. Not to thrilled about being there, but do their job just fine. I haven't had any screw ups, ever. The menu is pretty straightforward. Bright and clear, not a jumbled mess like some others can be. There are numbers next to the items, you can either call them by number or name. As far as I've seen, everything is made to order and it's cooked right in front of you. The crappy thing about this place is that it's in the food court where you'll have to hunt for a table during peak times. Can't be helped really. It's just a struggle sometimes. Tried their beef with mushroom rice bowl. Pretty good - would probably get it again. Service - ok. The thin beef slices were just tender enough. Not too fatty. There were plenty of mushrooms, all over steaming hot rice. Type of plastic bowl used (I know - there are constraints due to both supply chain and/or plastic container environmental regulations) made it difficult to eat because there was a thick layer of beef and mushrooms (which on the bright side means there's enough of the entree!) so it was hard to get to the rice. I like to have both entrees and rice together... I got chopsticks, but next time I think I'll use a fork, may be easier to eat from this type of bowl. This was a pretty tasty combo - perhaps a bit more sauce would have been nice but this dish wasn't lacking. As I wrote this, I decided yes I would get this again but with a fork as stated. Kyoto is in the food court in Pearl Ridge downtown. I like coming here for the beef & shrimp plate. You get 5 side choices to choose from to mix in with your plate. I usually get the Shitake mushrooms, regular mushrooms, broccoli, sprouts, and onions. However they have other choices as well. I like the hot sauce that comes with it too (when you request it). There's never a line when I go & the chefs cook in front of you. Nothing too fancy ofc, but it's still fun to watch. The plates have good amount of servings and the price is decent too. My daughter and her friends had a Girl's Night Out. Therefore, my husband and I brought them to Pearlridge for a quick meal along with some shopping. We decided to check out the food court. My daughter's friend wanted to eat here, and so I thought of trying it out with her. Here is what I ordered: CHICKEN YAKIUDON: you have the choice to select 5 sides (fresh veggies) from the veggie bar. Once you choose your 5 sides, it gets cooked on the grill right before your very eyes. Then, they will add your meat and noodles that you pre-selected. That all gets cooked and stir fried. Now, that's what I call freshly made. Yum. They actually gave a HUGE AMOUNT of food. I paid about $8.00 with tax. Pretty good deal. It tasted pretty good, too. I thought this place was pretty good considering they are in the food court. I can't wait to try their other dishes. I got the chicken plate which was around $8.50. For the price they give a good size portion, it tastes yummy & comes with rice and your choice of stir fries veggies. Ordered #1 on the menu Chicken with no rice. The standard plate comes with 5 sides. Because I had no rice, they gave me 2 extra sides. Sides are one pinch of the tong. I choose 4 bean sprouts, 2 fresh mushrooms, and broccoli. Didn't know that my plate was finished cooking. It was sitting on the counter. And no one called out. What a great gem located in the Pearlridge Uptown food court. This place has been here for as long as I can remember and it always amazes me that they do not have a line a mile long. The food is so customizable (for many dishes, you select the veggies to go with your choice of meat), reasonably priced, and they cook it right in front of you! I've also never had bad service. Thoroughly grossed out. Went to get a bowl for lunch and towards the end of my meal I started chewing on something that wouldn't breakdown and didn't have the texture of everything else.. I fricken string..? Yarn? Idk. But it has fibers. I like to order here since it's the last 'affordable' Japanese food spot left in Pearlridge. Located in the uptown (Macy's) side food court. If I'm not too hungry, I'll grab one of their hot and fresh spam musubis ($2) or if I'm hungry, I'll order their beef and egg rice bowls ($8). Once in a while I will order the fried udon. Everything is made fresh on the spot, except for the musubis. If you order the fried noodles, you get to pick five veggies to go along with it. You can choose the noodles to be made with beef, chicken, or shrimp. The veggies are NOT covered and I have seen customers actually stick their hand in the veggie containers to point out what they wanted. I like the beef (gyu don) or chicken (oyakudon) rice bowls. They do come out hot and fresh so it takes a few minutes to cool down. The beef and chicken are both cooked in a special sauce which is pretty tasty with the eggs and rice. Customer service is so so here and a little slow. I have yet to be greeted by someone who seems to like their job, but my orders have always been made correctly. This is my favorite place to grab spam musubis, I don't care for the one sold at Aloha Sushi. Credit cards accepted. read more

Picked up chicken and shrimp with 5 choice vegetables. I'm gonna be honest the taste sucked it is very bland and watery. If you cook with teppan grill I believe the teriyaki sauce should blend in become more flavorful but it was not in this case. The chicken was dry. The shrimp tasted fishy and old. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone so if u see this review be smart and buy something else next door like pearls bbq or something. I threw away almost the whole plate and was a wasted $10. Always go here whenever I go to Pearl Ridge. Right next to Pearl's Kitchen and Church Chicken. Very friendly staff and it isn't busy compare to the other food places at the food court. I've eaten here a few times, and it was always 'just okay.' This most recent time, it wasn't great at all and I don't remember it being this bad...well the tempura mostly. I ordered the Kyoto special. Great value for the price (I think it was only $7-something)! You get Udon, Chicken, and a piece of Shrimp Tempura. The Udon was fine and the Chicken was okay, but the Tempura was bad. The batter was soggy and almost tasted like raw dough. It certainly wasn't anything close to real Japanese style Tempura. Got the beef item #2. The price is pretty good for Japanese food. You choose five veggies and the cook the vegetables and meat in front of you. They put adequate teriyaki sauce where I did not have to ask for more. The only suggestion I would say that I did not like was when the cashier who handle my card did not wash hands or put on gloves as the cashier handled the vegetables to select my five. My greater concern if the cashier handled multiple people transactions and handled the customers vegetables. Overall the price was good, the food taste great, and got my food pretty fast. read more

If you're in Pearlridge Mall and you're tired of the same food court places like Panda, Yummy's, L&L, etc., go to Kyoto! It looks a little sketchy but you gotta stop judging the book by its cover! I was hungry but I didn't wanna eat the same old food I eat all the time so I said, might as well. Their prices are cheap and reasonable. They have plenty of food to choose from and so I chose the steak & shrimp combo stir fry. What's great about this place is you get to choose the vegetables being mixed with your dish before they cook it. The food is so good and that sauce they use for the stir fry is so tasty!
