The salmon teriyaki entree is a must! A generous portion and full of flavor. The best fresh side salad. The spring rolls are also so fresh and generous portion. The owner is so kind and genuine in wanting to serve her customers the best. Not much of an indoor ambiance, but very fast service and also perfect for takeout!

Amazing sushi. Super welcoming family and great service. The Dragon and Red Dragon taste delicious.

Overall this place is decent. It's definitely not the best Japanese food I've ever had but it's not bad. Salmon skin hand roll was really good. Spicy tuna & California roll was good. Edamame was a small portion for 4.50 but just enough for my daughter. Chicken fried rice was decent. It has bell peppers and onions in it. Chicken oyako don was just ok as I've had better elsewhere. Service was good although the food took awhile to get, which was fine but the restaurant wasn't busy.

Not the best. Just pretty standard fare with food that would be great for kids or the unadventurous.

It melted like butter in my mouth. I've could have had more! Avocado Toast (hamachi, sake, ahi tuna, avocado, jalapeño, seared spicy mayo and crispy shallots)- delicious (my favorite maki roll) Tarabagani (king crab with garlic butter) - the crab is beautifully wrapped around with cucumber. Unagi (eel and avocado) - really good! Zuke salmon sashimi (seared) - good, smoky flavor Spicy tuna - good Vegetable gyoza - good. Son ate a few gyozas thinking it had meat in it so thanks for giving him some veggies. Pork gyoza - good. Son ate all 8 of them. I'll be coming back to try the other makis and eat more sashimi! Since I'm talking about the sashimi, I want to come back right now. They gave me vegetable gyozas the first time when I ordered pork, but they worked with me regarding that mistake and tossed in pork gyozas this time around. My 2nd time, they forgot 1 order of my sake and my hamachi so I can't write about how the hamachi sashimi. Overall, the food was good! Thanks Guildhall for sending me an email this morning to tell me about tori dasu. I was probably the first person to place an order

According to their friendly staff their plan is to open right down the street on Vernon, but while things settle down from Covid-19 they are operating as a pop up within Guildhall. I ordered online on my way home from a Dr. appointment this Friday evening thinking that I would pick up 20 minutes later. Silly me because they needed about an hour to prepare my sushi. I got home ready to feed my hungry sushi loving children and realized they forgot 6 pieces of salmon sushi (the kids fave). So I ran back and they had it ready, but prepared without rice which would do for my picky children...and so I waited a bit longer. There were a bunch of others also waiting curbside for both sushi and Guildhall's regular menu, which made me happy to see them somewhat busy during this time. The sushi itself was very fresh. We got a few typical rolls (tuna, salmon, etc). An order of vegetable gyoza. And then their avocado toast and a special version of the California roll. The rolls were much smaller in comparison to other favorite sushi spots nearby and also more expensive, but it was tasty and convenient to have down the street. My entire family enjoyed, but complained they were hungry after, which was a bit annoying for spending $100 on takeout. I'll likely stick with other less expensive spots for takeout (AO, Dempster Fish Market to name a few) since my family can devour a lot of sushi in one sitting, but will definitely be back lots when possible for dining in or even patio dining.

We got the burger and truffle fries to share, along with / rolls and the karrage chicken. The burger was good with the caramelized onions but nothing significant to write home about. My favorite items though were the truffle fries, and the hot honey karaage we asked for the honey on the side so that we're able to share with our little but it was super crispy, and the chicken bites were juicy and delicious it didn't even need the honey. I truthfully don't love pickles but the pickles were delicious and I ate them all! The sushi rolls were both really fresh and had great flavor. Overall a good experience I'd like to come back during regular hours to try their regular menu. We were a bit disappointed that the only available menu was the happy hour one which was pretty limited.

The young woman at the host station wasn't exactly rude but not super friendly either, but she sat us at our table just fine. The decor inside is really attractive. Lots of Asian style decor and little bridges as you walk to your table. Why isn't there water in those little ponds! That would add so much to the overall aesthetic! I had the sirloin and shrimp with chicken fried rice and my boyfriend had the filet with beef fried rice. Our food was very good and prepared well. The sirloin was very good, as was the shrimp. I didn't know egg sauce came on the shrimp, considering you already get a shrimp appetizer with egg sauce. It's a very heavy sauce and I would have preferred it on one serving of shrimp and not both. The only side sauce you receive is a little dish of soy sauce. No ginger sauce and no yum-yum sauce. Service and waiting did take a bit of time, but this isn't the kind of restaurant where you go if you're in a hurry. We had a older woman as our table attendant and a man who did the grill work. They don't do any of the little hibachi tricks like other restaurants do. I kinda like that, but maybe Ron of Japan is too classy for onion volcanoes and such. My biggest complaint are the plates. A traditional round dinner plate is really nice as your food is being prepared in staggered stages. When everything is cooked, you have a nice full plate. Here, they give you a small rectangular plate that rests on the hibachi grill and it's slanted downward towards the grill surface. It's searing hot, so you can't touch it or move it closer to you. I found it a bit awkward and could easily see myself dropping food in my lap or something. Overall, we had a really nice dinner and a really nice family sharing the hibachi table with us. I would come back here, but honestly, I don't see much difference between Ron of Japan and any other hibachi restaurant in the Chicagoland area, such as Benihana or Tsukasa.
