L&B has been around for almost a decade, although this location is pretty new. It's located in DUMBO surrounding many other popular pizza spots as well. They offer both a take-out area and dine-in as well. The restaurant isn't too big, but we were able to grab a table on a Sunday afternoon after 5 minutes. Not sure why the wait since there were empty tables. To start, the service was a bit slow to take our order and pay our bill. The server did apologize as they are short staffed, but unfortunately the food didn't make it any better. I had the L&B Sicilian Slice ($4.50) and Vodka Square Slice ($5.50) while the husband had the Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana ($28). The slices were just ok to me, nothing too special. Their signature slice is fluffy and crispy on the bottom, but very simple and wished it had more flavor. As for the chicken parm, my husband was quite disappointed with how rubbery it tasted. We were hungry, so we finished everything but likely won't be back.
I was visiting Brooklyn from California and had the pleasure of meeting Jack, the manager of L&B. Jack was very hospitable and kind- he held a beautiful conversation with me and had some great recommendations for their pizza. I really appreciated his customer service approach and warmth. Thank you Jack!! I highly recommend this place, the pizza was SOOOO good! 10/10 for atmosphere, customer service, and taste.
Pizza is amazing. We ordered a vodka square pie and a square pie. I went in to order on a Sunday evening and it was made pretty quickly. Steamy hot pizza! Brought it back to the office and the four of use polished it all off. I have to be honest and say the vodka square was a game changer. This was the first time I ate corners of the pizza. Sorry people! The price was right, the pizza was amazing, and they never disappoint. Check them out if you're in the neighborhood. Plenty of seating at tables and the mini tables. We will definitely be back.
When it's crowded, this place is miserable. Maybe because I was there for 4th of July and everyone waiting in line for the fireworks were right outside. There was a line for the bathroom that did not move an inch in 30 minutes; and it took that long just to order two slices for takeout. There was no orderly line and people kept ordering/cutting in front of me; a lot of people were frustrated because they thought this was for the restaurant but were in the to-go line instead (pretty sure they were foreign tourists who didn't understand English). The pizza was okay - not sure if I would come back here though with the experience I had.
I remember the original place in my early 20s and always liked the food. Now I've gone on a 20 year Pizza journey and am armed with how much science it takes to make elite dough. I have to say it's still not bad. The overall flavors were on point, but the Dough felt a little immature with very little crumb structure, and light on the flavor. But the sauce and the cheese and the combinations made every bite super satisfying. It was packed from a bus that just unloaded a ton of people from World Cup and we still managed to pony up to a Countertop. I introduced myself to the manager and man was he amazing. While simultaneously taking care of a busy Restaurant and his whole staff, he created a fantastic working environment with his team and had plenty of time for one-on-one with me about the Pizza game. Finished the day with a little spumoni and all the memories came flooding back In review: It might not be quite elite level Pizza making, but there's enough going on there that it deserves your respect and support. It's classic New York style pizza that just taste great. And they care about your experience. The managers name I forgot cuz I'm a mamaluke but he used to work in the wine business. And he's a gem!
I had come across this spot from Instagram and sometimes it can not turn out so well but since she was a native of Brooklyn i figured I'd give it a shot. Wow it did not disappoint! As expected when you go in this place has the ultimate New York Brooklyn neighborhood vibes with employees talking to customers out front, working hard behind the counter to take orders, or seating people in the dining area for dinner. I ordered a square from the counter - super simple with their house sauce... this did not have any cheese, just great dough, perfectly crispy, awesome flavor on the sauce, not soggy at all, and just the perfect size. I could have eaten another piece easily! And with a soda less than $10 also a pretty good deal.
Great little family dine in or to go spot for classic Brooklyn Sicilian pizza! The Sicilian slice was great and unique, and we tried a few of their other slices which were also pretty good. I haven't had much Brooklyn pizza so maybe I'm not a tough critic. The layout is a bit confusing, the left is to be seated and dine in. The right side is to go counter, and you can eat at some tables in the front if looking for quick service. We were a bit confused and ordered at the wrong spot, but the staff didn't mind at all and accommodated us! There was no line/ wait at peak dinner time on a Sunday which is nice.
Me and my friend were in the area on a cold Saturday afternoon and wanted a quick bite to eat and warm up. There were several pizza spots to choose from but this spot didn't have a long line. We just grabbed a slice and a cup of tea. The staff were very friendly and sweet. I ordered the BBQ chicken slice and my friend had the Sicilian. The Sicilian slices seemed small and my friend said he should've ordered two. We both enjoyed our slices especially with the hot tea to warm up a bit. I love that they gave you regular mugs for your tea. If we weren't on the go we would've definitely sat down for the real dining experience. I would definitely return to check out some other menu items.
Came in on a whim! Decided we want pizza for the evening and dropped by to try out their "world-famous" pizzas. We ordered a few salads and then half pie of the world famous sauce and half pie with vodka sauce. Both were very good and I much preferred the marinara sauce which had just the right amount of tangyness. Apparently these were Sicilian pizzas so definitely a lot thicker than your New York style ones. We ordered the spumoni for desserts and definitely really enjoyed the strong almond flavor! Our server was kind and seemed Italian!
I stopped by Spumoni Gardens and grabbed two slicesone regular cheese and one Sicilian and honestly, it was a really good experience. The cheese slice was solid with good flavor, definitely enjoyable, but the Sicilian is what stood out. That one was easily one of the better slices I had while I was in NYC. Great sauce, great crust, really well-balanced overall. The employees were super friendly and helpful too, which always makes a difference. Even though the place gets busy, they kept things moving and were patient with people figuring out what to order. The whole spot has that classic, no-frills New York pizza shop feel, which I personally love. It's the kind of place where you can sit down, relax, and just enjoy your food without any fuss. If you're in the area, Spumoni Gardens is definitely worth a stop especially for that Sicilian slice. I'd go back just for that alone.
I went to this spot a handful of times to confirm my feelings regarding this place especially in comparison to the original. In short, as with most of the people, yes it's worse than the original location at least in terms of pizza for their famous Sicilian square. This is mostly since the crust is just not as good which takes a lot out of it with it lacking a bit of the crunch and texture. This is unfortunate as the tomato sauce quality is still nice (as long as you don't mind a very bright/slightly acidic tomato sauce which I do like) and the cheese quality is there. If you want to try something that matches the original, you might as well get their excellent spumoni with their classic being a mix of vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio which might be that odd unnatural green but still contains a lot of pistachios for a nice crunch. It's excellent and a nice little lighter comparison to the richer but also excellent Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory a few doors down.
I was in the area another restaurant. When I saw this place I'd been hearing about L & B Spumoni Gardens for so many years, but never found myself in the same area. So I took advantage of picking up one of the square slices to go. The staff was really down to earth and friendly and served everyone with the same level of hospitality. Coming in just under $5, thus slice was a decent deal. I had it for lunch the next day as I have a toaster oven that has a pizza setting. It tasted fresh and the sauce was bright, but something about the way the cheese was layered tasted like something was missing. Next time, I'll snag a regular slice for comparison.

3.5 probably because I loved the thick square pizza but the cheese thin pizza was pretty mid. We got a large order to go to eat at the park. It's possible our order didn't taste as good because we got it to go. I'd try it again in person. Great spot though if you need something easy to grab for the park! read more

L&B Spumoni Gardens is a historic pizzeria that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 1939. It was founded by Italian immigrant Ludovico Barbati. Originally from the small hillside village of Torella dei Lombardi, Barbati came to the United States in 1917 at the age of 22. One year later, he married Paolina Maugeri and started a family of six children. Under the mentorship of a skilled Brooklyn baker, Barbati mastered the art of pizza-making in a small garage on West 8th Street. In 1938, he purchased a wagon and a horse named Babe. Barbati went up and down the streets of Brooklyn's Gravesend and Bensonhurst neighborhoods peddling his own homemade Italian ices and spumoni from his horse-drawn wagon. In 1939, Barbati purchased a vacant property on 86th Street to build a brick & mortar home for his business. The original space served as a production facility and small storefront for his frozen treats. By the 1950s, an addition was built to house a pizzeria. It was at this time when the business was dubbed "L&B Spumoni Gardens" and the focus shifted to their delicious Sicilian-style square pizza. A full-service dining room was later added as well. Barbati passed away in 1962, but the business is still owned and operated by his family. A second location opened in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood in December 2024. My family and I recently visited the DUMBO location of L&B Spumoni Gardens while we were in the area. I had previously sampled pizza and spumoni ice cream from the original Bensonhurst location and loved it. We were all seated at a large table in the dining room and then we looked over the menu. The DUMBO location seems to have a few menu items that are exclusive to this location. We decided to order and share the "Half L&B Famous Sicilian & Half Vodka Sicilian" pizza as well as the "Grandma" pizza. Everything was excellent! I had previously only tried their famous "Sicilian Square", but the Vodka and Grandma pies were also quite tasty! Great crust, great cheese, and fantastic sauce! Although we looked over the dessert menu, we were a little too full from the pizza to have any spumoni or other dessert treats. Along with both Grimaldi's and Juliana's across the street, L&B Spumoni Gardens makes another nice addition to the pizzeria corner of DUMBO! read more

A different type of pizza compared to Juliana's or Grimaldi. Rice ball parmigiana was yum. The pizza was nice but was stuffed after two pieces. The waiter promised me the best tiramisu of my life, but it tasted watery and like cream, no hint of mascarpone - so no, not the best I've had. The dining room is a bit loud and full of stuff - photos, fairy lights, tvs, fake flowers. Sorry, not my fave in the neighborhood. read more

This might be the best Sicilian pie I've had in NY, which is of course very high praise -- and this is from a delivery pie! The slice was light but also satisfying, and that tomato sauce was richly flavorful -- will absolutely be grabbing this one again. Also had some of wings & Caesar salad with this one which were also good ... but let's not kid ourselves, the slice is the clear star of the show. read more
Came at 12:30 PM on a Sunday and there was no line. Nothing beats the OG location, but this one is way more convenient (mainly because it's accessible by public transit). Sicilian slice was fire, and I also really liked the white slice. Note that the dining room and pizza counter have separate menus - proceed to the counter if you're just looking for slices. read more
Absolutely loved our experience at L&B Spumoni Gardens in DUMBO! We went with the 12-slice Sicilian style (square ) cheese pizza and it was everything you'd hope for because it was crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor! We also tried the carbonara pasta, which was rich, perfectly cooked al dente, and satisfying. We also enjoyed the potato croquettes and arancini which were huge and shareable as an appetizer. Based on how everything tasted, I could tell that they put a lot of heart into their food. What made our visit really special was the service. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcomed. They interacted with our kids and checked up on us to make sure that we enjoyed the food and had everything that we needed. It's rare to find a place that strikes the perfect balance between great food and a truly family-friendly atmosphere and L&B nails it! You can either order through their counter or sit down after checking into the host stand. We'll definitely be back! read more
Nothing wrong with this place. And nothing wrong with the Sicilian slice! Honestly the Sicilian slice really got me. I thought sweet sauce was going to be too sweet. NOPE! I thought there wasn't going to be enough cheese for balance. NOPE! This is a good slice The pasta (clam vongole with white sauce) was good as well. Maybe a little under seasoned on the salt side, but they provide it table side. Friendly service as well - our server was so chill and casual. Traveling to New York, the one place we must always stop at L&B. Absolutely delicious, first time coming to the Brooklyn location and it's pretty spacious. The service was very fast and easy to order. Our pizza came out pretty fast as well read more

We had such a fantastic meal at L&B Spumoni Gardens! We started with the fried calamari, and wow--it was perfectly light, crispy, and absolutely delicious. Not greasy at all, just the way it should be. For our main, we had the rigatoni with bolognese sauce, and it totally took us back to childhood. To our surprise (and delight), they added a dollop of ricotta cheese on top--just like my mom used to do when we were kids! The sauce was rich and flavorful without being too sweet, and it clung perfectly to the pasta. Pure comfort food done right. The atmosphere was loud but friendly. Special shoutout to our server, Danielle. She was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home--like an old cugine! read more
I was visiting the DUMBO area while I waited for my daughter, although I have been in this area several times this was my first time trying this place. Fairly decent sized and very casual place they are in a prime location for all the locals and the tourist visiting the area . I walked in and ordered a few slices to go. I ordered a few vodka, Sicilian slices and two grandma slices. Can't say that I loved the vodka one was a bit bitter which is odd for vodka sauce, but the grandma one was pretty good. The guy working behind the counter was super friendly. Prices were fairly decent. It probably would have been cheaper for me to order a pie, but I just wanted to give it a try and bring back home to Jersey. read more

Spumoni is the type of place you go to when you just want some good comfort food. It has that old school Italian feel and they take care of you like you're family. We had the Sicilian pizza which was probably the favorite of the table. The white pizza was my favorite. The pear salad is a must. Skip the Caesar, it was nothing special. The pepperoni pizza was also very good. The arancini was another crowd fave. There are a lot of great places to go in the area but if you want the real deal you gotta come here. Oh and don't forget the Spumoni ice cream to finish off your perfect meal! read more
Highly recced by one of my fave foodies (literally she raves about this place ALL the time and claims it's her fave pizza spot in ALL OF NYC) honestly their nyc slice was ok - nothing crazy but dough had more of a cracker texture than like the normal slice u get from a corner spot. Ok but the Sicilian is what we came for and uh..... why was it not good the sauce was wayyy too sweet and it came lukewarm but somehow the dough was like still raw in the middle?? Dough had also more of a cracker texture like dry and breaks instead of the chewy and crispy u normally get Ok now that we've gotten that disappointing piece out the way... the calamari hit so hard lightly battered, super crispy and tender and lmao at the portion (good to be back in the US of A!) the pasta was also SO good - very heavy so could only have like a small lil twirl but sooo creamy, duck was flavorful and tender, mushrooms super umami and as a whole just a great plate of pasta wow ok their spumoni is so artificial but low key lmao why was it kinda good IG: Spillingthe.beans read more

L&B Spumoni Gardens has been on my NYC pizza bucket list for a long time. Since I was in DUMBO I decided to stop in to this fairly new location on Fulton Street. I went with a corner of the World Famous L&B Sicilian Pie and a Small Spumoni. I'm not sure if this was an off day or the new location isn't so good but I didn't really enjoy this. The slice was completely dry and tasteless and a little burnt and the spumoni just tasted like inexpensive ice cream from a one gallon tub. I can say I've been but I really wouldn't return. read more
Fuhgeddaboutit! Who says you can't go home again?! With L&B Spumoni Gardens now in Dumbo, I can now go back to "the hood," without trekking all the way to 86th Street. The atmosphere may be a bit different, but the food is just as good. My only complaint is that the service isn't as "Brooklyn" (read that as loud) as it is at the original location. Was so excited that this location had easy seating and closer to get to, but the food was just not the same as the OG location. So sad! My friends and I got the following and what we thought of the food. -Sicilian pizza ($4.16/slice) - Originally, we were going to get a whole pie so we would have leftovers to take home because we love this so much, but thank goodness we decided to just get a slice each. Why? Because the pizza was not that good. It was lukewarm, cheese was just warm (no cheesy pull or stretch to it), and the crust was just meh. -Baked clams ($26.99 for a dozen) - This was super disappointing. It seemed like it was just cooked clams with bread crumbs sprinkled on it. No flavor, just plain clam taste. Where was the flavor, especially from the "baked" topping part? Such an expensive disappointment. -Chicken marsala ($24.91) - I remember being amazing at the OG location, but here, the flavor I remember was 70% there and it just lacked flavor and seasoning. The linguine with marinara was the only thing that was okay. It was hot and tasted like the sauce was made from fresh tomatoes. There was no line for a Saturday night and we got a seat right away. While across the street at Grimaldi's, there was a long line. That should've been a sign that we went to the wrong place. If you read through all that, my advice is to make the extra trek to the OG location. I hope they taste as good as I remembered them. read more

This new spot in Dumbo and second location of the pizza institution is incredible! Everything about it is delicious, warm, and welcoming, with a big space that's great for groups. Shoutout to the kindest, coolest server Rodney! Their Sicilian pizza is insane. Thick and doughy, unlike any crust I've had before, almost half-baked in the middle like a great cookie. Their sauce is sweet and comforting and their baked clams were delicious. Of course, you've gotta get the spumoni ice cream for dessert - its marzipan flavor and crunch is unlike any spumoni I've had. Can't wait to come back to try their regular pizza, a salad, and more of that spumoni. 5 stars!!!! read more

It's either been a very long time since I've had L&B pizza (on 86th Street) or their recipe formula changed. The Dumbo location opening was in the works for several years and has now recently opened. I was anticipating its arrival to the area. We were surprised or maybe unaware that L&B served slices. So we recently dropped by for a lunch slice to check it out during the holiday week. The place was packed but there was some counter space reserved for grab and go quick slice consumption. It seemed chaotic behind the counter: I was nearly overcharged by $1 for my slice and the person I was with experienced a very long delay receiving cash change. Opinion? I thought it was average. I think the crust was good albeit a bit dense and I liked that the cheese was barely noticeable. However, the main ingredient ---the sauce---was the issue. It tasted very raw, acidic and over-seasoned (with salt) while the other opinion was one of disappointment expressing way too salty. Kind of a letdown. Undecided if/when I'd return. read more
L&B is a nyc classic for a non-nyc style pizza. Love their regular square pies they are famous for and have not been bold enough to try anything else besides the spumoni. This location isn't quite like the original, but really a well priced and tasty spot in DUMBO. I'd definitely recommend and would come back. Grab a couple slices and head to the waterfront park for a nice lunch. read more
Great pizza at a fun family spot Food: we ordered the vodka Sicilian pizza and it was delicious! It didn't taste very cheesy but was very doughy. The good thing is that the dough is great. We also got the rainbow spumoni which included pistachio, vanilla, and chocolate spumoni!
