    Biscuits with Gravy

We were looking for a good, non-chain restaurant for breakfast while in Harrisonburg. This was the place! You cannot get any more local than L&S. No tables, only a counter full of locals. We sat down at the end and feared that we took someone's spot . The food is simple but delicious. Hubs had the garbage omelette and I had biscuits & gravy. The omelette was prepared on a flat top right in front of us and it was stuffed full of all the fillings they had. Definitely worth the risk of sitting on a locals stool to eat here!

Excellent breakfast at L & S Diner. Friendly people, excellent cooks, fast service, good food, hot coffee (a must for me), good price. Can't ask for more. Cash only and counter service only, no booths.

Given i'm from the north east, I felt right at home with this small family feel diner. Although this place is small, it is a GREAT place to grab a quick meal. The food is cooked right in front of you. Extremely friendly staff!!!! The cooks claim: He can cook you anything (not a steak) faster than an order by come out through McDonald's Drive thru! ~Very warm, family feeling!!!

This is the quintessential old timey diner with a basic diner menu made with farm fresh products. The waitstaff and cook are friendly and persoanable and welcome all the locals by name. I had 2 eggs over easy with home fries and bacon and I have to say...the eggs were SO delicious & fresh! The bacon was crispy and cooked perfectly. The homefries were real potatoes but I think ai would ask for them to be cooked crispy next time. Coffe & tea pours were frequent & generous. The pancake was delicous but huge & I could not finish it. One pancake is a meal in itself. The hubby had two eggs sunnyside up and country ham and although his eggs got a little over done for his liking, he also said they were delicious and that the ham was exceptional. We did not have a bisquit but we witnessed a fresh batch of truly homemade bisquits coming out of the over from the back kitchen and they looked divine! This is a great stop with really delicious food bit space is limited and is diner-counter seating only. In other words...no tables...only stools at the counter for seating, but that is part of its charm. We will definitely be back!!

Nice little find. We were looking for a local location for breakfast and found one. This place only has stool at the bar but the folks eating were willing to move without us asking to allow us to sit with our children. The service and food were great. You get quite the amount of food for an excellent price. Highly recommend it. It's also in the hostoric Main Street area of town so it's a nice place to be.

Really great people and food here. It's one of the more authentic diners I've seen in Virginia. The menu isn't huge, but it's got everything you'd want on it. Also the coffee is good. If it's early and you want some good food, come here.

Overpriced, indifferent breakfast. Interior and exterior is cute, though. Take your photos, but skip the coffee.

Simply put, the bodega breakfast sandwich might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. I took it to eat on the road and was startled about how delicious it was. The freshly baked (you can tell) brioche bun with everything bagel seasoning on top added a great salty taste to go along with the tasty stuff inside. I've traveled all over the country for work for 20+ years, and like I said, this might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! To top it off, the staff was super nice.

I think it was because they enjoyed working there. Or, at least it give them a chance to eat some really tasty food. I had their Cubano Tartine. That's kind of like an omelet with the ingredients of a Cubano sandwich, except for the roll, mixed in. (And yes, I get that the cooking process is a bit different.) ' Anyway, this Cubano Tartine shows up on a plate in front of me. I dig in and keep digging. The ingredients, ham, cheese, pickles, etc, were plentiful and delicious. They were sitting on an ample slice of their sourdough bread. That was the first issue. It was IMPOSSIBLE to cut. I guess I could have asked for a steak knife or maybe a power tool. But, there was so much other stuff that I was able to have a very filling meal without it. The other issue was that the lightly dressed side salad was doused in dressing. Again, didn't complain because, for me, it wasn't a problem during this visit. Issues aside, if I come back to Hagerstown, I'll look for an excuse to come back.

The space is urban chic with a moderate sized dining room and small bar. I would describe the menu as "upscale comfort". Elevated pork chop, meatloaf, pasta for example. At our table we ordered the swordfish nightly special, the wild mushroom pasta, the pork chops, and the potato croquette appetizer. All were beautifully plated and delicious. We also had two exceptional glasses of Chardonnay, and some beautiful cocktails. We enjoyed our evening. This is a great place for a special night out without needing to be fancy or fussy.

There was a heater, so we figured we could stand it. The hostess rearranged the tables to seat us close to the heater, and left menus. Soon a waitress came with water and took drink orders. Not long after she returned to take our food orders. While we were waiting for the food, someone brought us some warm blankets. All through our meal people kept checking to see whether we needed anything. It was the best service I have seen in a long time, and I arrange a bi-monthly lunch outing for a club I belong to. The food was delicious. The salmon sandwich was incredible, the burrata appetizer was to die for, and I wish everyone had such good French fries. Everyone enjoyed their food and the warm welcome from the staff on a not very warm day.
