    Good restaurant, but our waiter seemed very green and unsure of himself. We each ordered the formula for that evening, of a starter, main and dessert, and we were charged separately for each item, which we didn't realize until we got back to the hotel and were looking at the total. We intended to go back and ask for an adjustment, but we got busy with sightseeing and didn't go back. For starters, we both had the cold veggie soup (pea soup, maybe? I don't remember). It was cool, refreshing and delicious. Next, boyfriend had the rotisserie chicken, and I had a white fish with a caramel sauce - which sounds weird, and it is, but it was delicious. We had a side of au gratin potatoes, which have to be the best I've ever had, and a "complimentary" side of mashed potatoes - also fantastic! (However, I believe we were charged for those as well). We split a bottle of a nice white French wine. Dessert was a mousse of some kind, and very delicious! Despite our waiter and the fact that we believe we were overcharged, we'd still go back. We'll just check the bill more carefully next time.

    Great location in the Latin quarter, on a quiet street. The food is all cooked with a flame. Rotisserie, grilled or flame roasted -- that equals delicious. Comfortable seating, nice ambiance and exceptional service await you here. Portions were large ( I thought). The rabbit terrine was exceptionally tasty, served with freshly baked crusty bread. The herb flamed (at the table) roasted rotisserie chicken burst with flavors. The special was a guinea fowl, also roasted on the rotisserie and absolutely mouth watering. Super wine list by the glass or bottle and reasonable prices. This was an earthy well done meal.

    We had the most perfect dinner here. The space is gorgeous: particularly on a cold winter night with that huge fireplace. The food was fabulous and the potions were quite large. I highly recommend this place: ironic equally welcoming for a romantic dinner or a family dinner. Very accommodating. The Veloute and Roast Chicken were amazing.

    Great food on a quiet street in Latin Quarter. Amazing service and presentation. Staff spoke perfect English with a smile. Fantastic value for the set menu. Just wish we knew to ask to be seated in the main room or the one adjacent to it so that we could see the fireplace. Would be back for sure and recommend to friends.

    Chef Guy Savoy may have burned out on Vegas (and who hasn't?) so he took over the helm at this place. It is a sleek, modern, understatedly elegant room without pretense. All gorgeous black slate, black walls and accoutrements. There are splashes of vibrant crazed art hanging in the dining room so you don't feel like you're eating in the barrel of a French 75. There is a cozy bar if you don't want to be seen and a spacious dining room if you do, along with an intimate small room for that special night with a few special people other than your poker buddies. Thankfully there is no rock loop blaring Johnny Halliday's Greatest or the latest by Chupee. The focused menu features grilled items and hits all the right notes; Beef, Veal, Fish, and Chicken and there are all the ala carte sides you like. Pommes Dauphinois (Gratin), and Artichokes Gratin as well. No Mac 'n Cheese need apply. Enjoy the Amuse Bouche of Vegetable Salmon Shooters next to a Pistachio Cracker with a Salami Skewer to go with your first Kir Royale. It brought out the Louis Quatorze in me. And the Angels are in details. Fresh ground Salt and White Pepper on the table which are far enough apart that require a Segway to go visiting. Heated plates, calm waiters. There is a curated wine list and unless you know what you're doing, have a working knowledge of French Wine, or only order by cost, then let the helpful Staff help you. I did and ended up with a perfect Cote du Rhone 2015 Croze Hermitage which pair nicely with the Pate, Salade Lardon, and stood up confidently to the Rack of Lamb. And speaking of the Staff, my Server was attentive, professional, knew how to work a table and he enhanced the evening to the point where I left an extra cash tip and a lamb chop for the Waiter's puppy. Parting with money was easy, but giving up that Lamb Chop, well, that's another matter. There was no upselling, no pushing specials (that didn't move the week before), no hurry and no worry here. The Vibe: Upscalers, kindred carnivores. The Food: Straight at you with no foo foo flash. The chef hasn't gone swimming in the kitchen. You will get things you can recognize and enjoy. A basket of fresh bread showed up which required removing the crumb from the crust to maximize the cultured butter with Sel Gris. The Terrine du Champagne was a spiritual experience. All pork bits and pieces with Aspic and a Gelatin border. Let's call it Head Cheese, because that's what it was, done well and served with a Fig Compote which got my vote. This dish fulfilled my pigish wish. The Oeuf Parfait (eggs) with Mushrooms of the Moment was as composed as Queen Elizabeth. It was a riff on the traditional Salade Lardon. A perfect runny Egg nestled on Escarole with thin Bacon strips and a light Vinaigrette. It paid stage door Johnny homage to a classic. The Frenched Bone-In Rack of Lamb was meaty, lamby and was served with Lamb Jus. To start with it was photogenic as presented and satisfying to the photographer once it was disassembled table side. The meat was grilled to medium rare and was down pillow tender. If you're in the mood to share, you will have chosen wisely. If you're selfish, all the better as this dish was terrific. The Pomme Dauphnoise (mandolined Potatoes with Cream, taking a tour under the Slamander with Gruyere was almost as good as my version). The Gratin Artichaud was also lovely, in case you didn't have enough cream with the Pomme D. The Chef used bottoms instead of hearts, and I prefer a good firm bottom to a soft heart any day. Finally, there was a sophisticated Cheese plate with all the fixin's. The Cheeses change quickly and the kitchen is generous with each selection to point to with your fork. Americans are used to Cheese as a appetizer to mollify guests at a party and keep them out of the way. Here, Cheese is a separate course and a precursor to dessert, but for this evening the Cheese finished me off. Ah, Death by Cheese is so welcome. A soft Bleu, a Triple Cream, a nutty wannbe Gruyere, and a Goat wrapped in Straw with a pick-up-styx distribution of Granny Smith batons, and grilled Bread. Lord, take me now. Atelier Maitre Albert, I am so there next visit.

    Google review only has 4.3/5 but very glad we came. Amazing food and friendly service even though we barely speak any French. Had chicken and duck special. Also very much enjoyed white asparagus and chicken liver appetizer. Wine by glass is on the pricy side but very good wines.

    Although I lived nearly 20 years at a distance of a few dozen meters, I had never set foot in what can now almost be considered an institution in the 5th arrondissement. I'm not going to give you the usual talk about Guy Savoy; you've already read it 100 times in 100 articles. As glorious and competent as they are, making the historical filling of chefs' lives, my cup of tea has never been. Megalomaniacs won't forgive me for that. Guy Savoy not being, in my opinion, in this category, I am saved! One of the primary defects that affect many restaurants after a few years is shortness of breath. We have our regular customers; we bungle the plates a little, the service becomes more (too) cool, we save on suppliers, quantities, etc.. Here, none of this. We have maintained quality and consistency. The poultry is therefore still farmed and from Maine, the Breton pigeon and the Charolais beef rib. In terms of taste, there is nothing to complain about. Both the fish, scallops, and pigeon are perfectly cooked. The same for vegetables, with a special mention for gratin, spinach, and mushrooms. Idem for the excellent puff pastry brioche for dessert. We will also note the soup, dish that we find less and less on the menus for various reasons, good or bad. Thinking that with it, "you don't get value for money". To believe that it will be bland. That it's only for winter. And it is also true that the presentation is more complicated. Indeed, during the movement from the kitchen to the dining room, most of the time, decoration will not fit on the liquid. Hence the diversion, which consists in bringing the empty but decorated plate without the liquid. And to serve it at the table. At those prices (no entry under 11 euros and no dish under 22), we could expect a little more effort on the presentation of some plates. Like the pigeon, excellent by the way. Smooth transition to address my only real disappointment: the setting. If the first room near the entrance is beautiful, the second room should be avoided. The black ceiling decor is completely outdated, and the lights are too powerful; the sound is loud. Only the majestic fireplace would justify the imperative need to sit here. Nevertheless, we must thank the nursery schools of the 5th arrondissement for the generous donations of the paintings on the walls. It is therefore always a beautiful Parisian table that can welcome you for lunch or dinner, quality products, well prepared, merely deserving a little more attention on the presentation. Did you see that? It is possible to talk about a (secondary) restaurant of a great chef by focusing on the plate and without unpacking the biography to make the filling...

    Tucked into a tiny street between Notre Dame and the Boulevard St. Germain, L'Atelier Maître Albert offers a refined menu in a fancy setting. Every detail is carefully considered. The stone walls are accentuated by painted black beams, the dark tables by solid silver cutlery. In the winter, according to our family friend with whom we dined the other night, they light the massive fireplace to warm up the dining room. In the summer, thankfully, the air conditioning is on full blast. The attentive staff was present but not intrusive, and they brought each drink and dish promptly. Dinner that evening was preceded by a trio of amuse bouches: a thin carrot-orange soup that tasted more like pumpkin than anything else, two slices of salami speared on toothpicks, and a savory basil and red bell pepper mini muffin. These went very well with the gin and tonic (I should have asked what gin they used--it was the best one I'd had in a while), and helped curb our hunger while we perused the menu. It wasn't easy to choose from the meat-centric menu. L'Atelier proposes lamb, beef, chicken, duck, pigeon from Brittany, and various fish, most of which is roasted on a spit. We could see the spit at the back of the restaurant, a giant silver grill looking sleek against the all-black walls. The mains come with your choice of sides: potatoes gratin, creamed spinach and mushrooms, roasted red peppers with zucchini, green salad, risotto... For my partner, it was a no-brainer: gratin dauphinois. I chose the spinach and mushrooms. The appetizer was equally easy to choose: I had the "autour de la tomate" which turned out to be a selection of sliced tomatoes drizzled in pesto and a delicate but chunky tomato purée, topped with a beautiful hunk of burrata on a slice of olive bread. My table mates also turned towards tomato: a smooth soup poured from a pitcher by a member of the kitchen staff over a dab of herbed feta. It was scrumptious too, but I don't regret my decision. Never turn down burrata. For the main dish, I settled on the pigeon. It, too, was delicate and delicious--so delectable that I even ate the skin, which I usually avoid. My partner was happy with his magret de canard, and our friend with her lamb shoulder and grilled vegetable side. We didn't stay for dessert, preferring to grab cones at a gelato place down the street so we could enjoy the cathedral at sunset. I have no doubt that dessert would have been as carefully executed and as tasty as the rest of the meal. Upon leaving, the hostess extended a bowl of Vichy mints for us to savor on the way out. They're experts on the little touches.

    Very cozy place with great food. Service was on point and i was allowed to enjoy my meal without being interrupted every 10 minutes asking hiw my meal was. Ordered the scallops for appetizer and steak for the meal. Scallops were out of this world. They must have used crack sauce because it was addictive. Steak came out as i oredered it. Very flavorful. For dessert had the brioche. Once again it must have been infused with crack because it stimulated many senses.

    Atelier Maître Albert is the cutest, not-so-little upscale Rotisserie. It may be an annex of the famous house Guy Savoy, but the high-end gastronomic side has been replaced by comfy, heart-warming, home- style kind of cooking and ambiance. With a prime location near Notre-dame, in a quiet street of the mazy 5th district, the chic charcoal-colored establishment seems very popular both with locals and tourists. It's a contemporary sight for a very old part of Paris. The dining room is separated in a duality of space. One side is the Vinotheque, perfect for a quick lunch or to stare at their whole wine collection all night. The other side is way cosier, intimate with a fireplace, dimmed lights, the roasting wall of the kitchen and just a warmer feeling overall. The menu is based on the very idea of conviviality and liveliness. The small amuse-bouches were a nice touch and made the very little wait for the efficient running around staff to come take the order. My entrée was a superbly rich velouté poured directly before me in a filled saucepan. My friend had the seasonal salad and sauteed chiken livers which was highly appraisable in intensity of flavour. Main dishes were, plates to share, a choice of spit-grilled meats, vegetables and fish with some cheesy gratin as side dishes. It's simply delicious and copious. It was a fantastic roasty diner I'll definitely try (and fail) to reproduce home. So, I guess I'll have to go back next time I'm in Paris.

    The food here was only okay. The chicken and potatoes were a highlight. I'd say the color and presentation of the chicken wasn't that appetizing but it had a great flavor. The mashed potatoes (not pictured) were also really tasty, but seemed kind of runny/loose. The tomato appetizer was nothing to call home about. I've had better desserts as well. I felt like the experience was more so about the name behind the restaurant and not the actual food.

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. We sat in the back (not the very back), but the front area looks very cozy --mostly reserved for French speakers, it appeared. We ate here twice in one week. Once on our own, and once with friends visiting Paris the same week as us. Two VERY different experiences. The first experience was lovely, friendly, and absolutely delicious. 4.5 stars. Simple classic French cuisine. We shared the mini raviolis stuffed with mushroom and a foie gras sauce. Wow. And shared their famous beef bourguignon. The tender beef, the sauce! I love the way they plate it too. Delicious. And a bottle of Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil (Loire Valley). The second visit (3 star) was very different from the first visit. Less friendly, borderline rude, took a long while for table service even though it was not busy, rolled their eyes about us sharing and at our wine bottle selection. We didn't feel welcomed. Food remains good, but not outstanding. Roll of the dice on service. I'd say if you're in the area and you don't have to wait it'd be worthwhile, otherwise seek a less touristy spot.
